For this edition of the Art in Action interview series I am featuring a conversation with printmaker Christeen Francis a long time collaborator. In this conversation we hear about the exchange of paper and ideas that lead to a series of pasted up street art collaborations in Montreal. Christeen speaks about the symbolism of the animals featured in the prints and the impact of paper based street art as part of a layer of process surrounding building support for social movements struggling for transformative change both locally and globally. Christeen speaks about the collaboration toward a poster focused on supporting a group of non-status Guinean asylum seekers in Canada who are collectively struggling for their asylum claims to be recognized and to be granted status as refugees in Canada. The accompanying graphic is a photo of Christeen's print pasted up in Montreal by Stefan Christoff Information on Christeen's work here: https://justseeds.org/artist/christeenfrancis Music on this program is "Passage" by Anarchist Mountains. Stefan produces this monthly artist interview series, Art in Action, that broadcasts monthly on Radio AlHara in regular programming on the first Friday of each month at 4:30-5pm in Bethlehem, Palestine and 9:30-10am eastern time. This series also airs on the third Friday of each month at 11am on CKUT in Montreal (ckut.ca) and on the second Tuesday of each month on CJLO 1690 AM at 1:30pm also in Montreal.

Christeen Hernandez is back for Part 2. We discussed a lot in part 1. In Part 2 we discuss marijuana, health, and we also do a Law & Order SVU Trivia game. Enjoy!
This is Part 1 of Vibing With Sleezy: The Podcast featuring my special guest Christeen Hernandez from Hendersonville, TN. She has been a reoccurring guest on the podcast for past 2 seasons so we had to have her back. We discuss horses, dogs, and stories on Pt 1. Stay tuned for Pt 2 later this week. Enjoy!
To quote arguably the most famous piece of green felt on the entire planet, "It's not easy bein' green." Now, we do not know if this week's guest on The Overlap Podcast takes the words of former Muppet Show host Kermit the Frog as gospel like we do (because our hosts neglected to ask her views on Muppet philosophy), we know that, like Kermit, special guest star Christeen Era knows a lot about green and hard work ... and she has to put up with our boys Sid and Keith not unlike Mr. The Frog has to deal with habitual balcony dwellers Waldorf and Statler. Movin' Right Along, Christeen's bona fides are second to none. As the co-founder of the Green Profit Academy (GPA) and CEO of Core Growth Strategies, she has forgotten more about business than any of us would ever hope to know in four lifetimes and she has a slew of certifications that are a credit to her cleverness: Profit First Professional, QuickBooks Pro Advisor, Fix This Next Advisor and Pumpkin Plan Strategist (the only Pumpkin Plan Keith know is the fastest way to eat a pumpkin pie). With her dual-wielding skills of consulting and coaching, Christeen is a champion of cash flow and company growth. Through GPA, she uses her green thumb to grow lawn care and landscape businesses but the advice she shares with our boys this week is evergreen and ever-relevant to any and all businesses. The necessity of outside perspective and the criticality of coaching are just a few of the topics she'll touch in this week's episode, so ... it's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights, it's time to get things started on ... The Overlap Podcast this week. (Just so we're clear on this whole Muppet comparison thing, we all agree Keith is Gonzo, right?)

Show Summary Lean into your knowledge. There are business owners out there that need your experience and advice. You have it, don't hold it back. In this episode, Christeen Era shares why she was convinced that the industry, Lawn Care and Landscape Businesses, needed her. Christeen sadly watched businesses in this industry go down one by one when the economy took a downturn. These firms just didn't have the tools and the knowledge. This is one of the reasons that she authored the book, Profit First for Lawn Care and Landscape Business. Using this experience, she coaches her clients and the readers on how to implement it in their businesses. She educates them on what the full implementation of Profit First can do for their businesses and how powerful it is through her courses and group work. It can be difficult to talk to clients about their financials. Whether is the shame of what has happened in the past or that they do not understand certain pieces of the financial information, Christeen shares about the importance of creating a safe space to work things through. She shows them that it's okay and that they are great at their craft and not necessarily expected to be experts with their numbers at the beginning. Christeen shares more about the process of writing the book and how it transformed her and her business today. Christeen and I get deep with our visiting friends about polyamory, the intensional love and care it takes to make that work, and how that love and care ripples into our other relationships and community as a whole. The truest love under the patriarchy is taking care of ourselves and one another, so let's get into it!
Ass 'Traa dy Liooar' ta shin clashtyn meer elley jeh Pargys Caillit, lesh obbyr yn Arrymagh Thomas y Christeen goll er lhaih magh liorish Juan y Geill. From 'Traa dy Liooar' we hear another extract from the Manx paraphrase of Paradise Lost, with Rev Thomas Christian's work being read by Jack Gell. Maralyn Crellin presents 'Shiaght Laa' this time. James Harrison is asking questions again in 'Jamys Jeheiney', this time about Afghanistan, The Muppets and Ships. In 'Goll as Gaccan' Phil Gawne reads from a newsletter about Manx language events, and then looks at two verses of a hymn. We reach the end of the first chapter of The Wind in the Willows in 'Claare ny Gael'.
Ta shin clashtyn meer elley ass Pargys Caillit ayns 'Traa dy Liooar', as Juan y Geill lhaih magh obbyr yn Arrymagh Thomas y Christeen er-nyn-son. We hear another extract from Pargys Caillit in 'Traa dy Liooar', with Jack Gell reading out the work of Rev Thomas Christian for us. In 'Jamys Jeheiney' there are ten questions put to us by James Harrison, but there are only nine answers to be had - we have to wait until the next time to find out the answer to the tenth question. Again, questions on various subjects and an opportunity to find out further information about them as well. Because 'Goll as Gaccan' was being broadcast the day before the Government's annual ceremonial in St John's, Phil Gawne tells us about phrases appropriate to the day itself, and about certain people who are to be seen taking part in the ceremony. As we heard in 'Claare ny Gael' before now, Neddy Beg Hom Ruy's father was well-known as a fisherman, but his boat was wrecked one year. When there was a reason for Thomas Nicky, the Gaaue Garroo (the Rough Smith), master of the fishing boat, H B Duke, to remain at home, he asked Neddy Beg's father to be the skipper, and Neddy Beg Hom Ruy went with his father, as a member of a crew that was a bit wild and given to the drink.
Ayns 'Traa dy Liooar' ta Juan y Geill cur kione er Gys yn Lhaider, yn roie-raa roish Pargys Caillit, y paraphrase jeh Paradise Lost 'sy Ghaelg, scruit ec yn Arr Thomas y Christeen. Ta 'Claare ny Gael' cur lesh dooin straih elley dy skeealyn giarey chyndaait 'sy Ghaelg liorish Neddy Beg Hom Ruy. In 'Traa dy Liooar', Juan y Geill finishes Gys yn Lhaihder, the forward to Pargys Caillit, the paraphrase of Paradise Lost in Manx, written by Rev Thomas Christian. Professor Avril Maddrell's work as a social and cultural geographer includes her interest in the annual event, Praying the Keeills, which we hear about in 'Shiaght Laa'. However, there was also a bit of a misfire, and we hear about that, before we join Doolish y Karagher in song. We welcome back 'Jamys Jeheiney', and enjoy twelve questions put by Jamys Kinry. Phil Gawne and Annie Kissack perform a rhyme to emphasise the phoneme [g] for us in 'Goll as Gaccan'. 'Claare ny Gael' brings us another series of short stories translated into Manx by Neddy Beg Hom Ruy.

In 'Claare ny Gael' there's a version in Manx of a story written by a famous author of strange horror stories, H P Lovecraft. This one is called The Terrible Old Man.

Alright! Welcome to Love Under The Patriarchy, episode 5, take two! In this conversation, we talk about the work we can do as white settlers to unlearn and dismantle the racist, colonial, capitalist, patriarchal systems of oppression. It's uncomfortable, but mostly exciting to acknowledge the incredible, ongoing, anti racist work being done in communities worldwide. We are thankful for the knowledge, and social justice movements created by black, indigenous and people of color. We have a lot to learn and do, so we added a list of links that highlight some of this incredible work, which can be found down below. Philippa Jones is a friend and cherished gem of St. John's, Newfoundland. We are so lucky to have Philippa in our community, as an excellent bud and boss executive director of Eastern Edge Gallery. A DOUBLE RELEASE! We want to give a special thanks and extra shout out to Eastern Edge, who supported this podcast, along with the Love Under The Patriarchy zine! Christeen has done an incredible job with the zine, an absolute labour of love, and we are so honoured at the chance to team up with EE to release them together. You can find the zine online on the Eastern Edge site (link below) or email us for a paper copy. So thank you Eastern Edge team: Anna, Charlotte, and Daniel! So excited about this interview! Let's get into it: Love, boundaries, sex drives and trauma cuz we gotta keep this real. A Beautiful conversation with the smart, soft, and thoughtful human Carla Barton, who I am really thankful for. This is a conversation about mine and Carlas personal experience with love, and does not reflect the realities of everyone, tho I’m stoked if you find comfort and validation in our openness and vulnerability. I also wanna note that these are casual conversations in community, and I am in no way an expert on anything, and I have a lot of learning to do. Which is exciting, because I wanna learn and move forward together, as a community. Since recording this episode, I have partnered with an incredible friend to go at this as a team. Please welcome Christeen, who will be doing a LUTP zine, bringing this conversation to some next level hotness, with the goal as always to continue building safe, loving and accountable communities. Get at us at loveunderthepatriarchy@gmail.com. We are stoked to work with you! Take care and see ya out there! LOVE RULES!
