There's an old quote that still rings true today, “More than 70% of leaders do not finish well.” Unfortunately, we so often see those with big followings, platforms, and pedestals fall or stumble due to something being done in private. However, our guests today want to help each of us become the leader that we would want to follow - a leader that possesses a great work ethic, vulnerability, and integrity. Joining us today to help us learn how we can shrink the integrity gap within our own lives and become the leader who lives out what we preach are the married co-founders of Living Wholehearted, a professional counseling and organizational development firm, as well as the global Courageous Girls movement, a free online curriculum equipping moms for every stage of their daughter's growing years. After two decades in leadership and trauma-informed therapy, they are bridging the gap between Biblical, clinical, and relational wisdom to help leaders live with integrity in the home, workplace, and community. Our prayer is that through this conversation you would be educated, equipped, empowered, and encouraged to not just lead, but to lead well.

It's a new year and new year's resolutions are on the rise - while anxiety, business and lack of clarity are too. What if we committed our year to PEACE and PACE? What if wholehearted leaders took time to assess all of who they are and where they are going? What if we got less busy this year and created margin and white space in our times at work, home, and at play? What if?    Join us as we unpack why white space and boredom are essential to a healthy brain and wholehearted leadership. We also talk about the Core Values Index and how this shapes what our goal setting and pacinging looks like for the year. If you want more peace this year, and less anxiety, stress, and disappointment in what is NOT happening, then listen in. Whether you are a parent, a CEO, a ministry leader or all of the above, this conversation is for you.    And don't forget that our TWO-year Executive Wholehearted Leadership Cohort applications are NOW open for a March 2024 start date. As we reflect on 2023, it's important to consider the fact that we've all picked up offenses over the past twelve months. One of the ways we stay healthy and wholehearted is doing our forgiveness work. The church isn't always clear about how to forgive, leaving many of us with the right motive, but not always the right methods. Sometimes we even confuse forgiveness with reconciliation, trust, or with forgetting. As you move through the rest of this year and into the next, keep in mind that becoming a wholehearted leader at home, work and in the community requires each of us to own what we can, forgive what we can, and reconcile where we can. Listen in to learn the difference and how to create a culture where forgiveness is as familiar as breathing. Combining mental health, spiritual formation, and trauma-informed abuse recovery, this conversation is complex, but vital to our health and wholeness.    Jeff and Terra Mattson are the co-hosts of the Living Wholehearted Podcast. They are also the founders of Living Wholehearted, a professional counseling, executive coaching, and organizational development firm outside Portland, Oregon, helping leaders live and lead with integrity. Sissy Goff, LPC-MHSP, has worked as the director of child and adolescent counseling at Daystar Counseling Ministries since 1993. She speaks to parents and children's ministers across the country and is a frequent guest on media outlets like NBC Nightly News, CNN, Good Morning America, Focus on the Family, That Sounds Fun, Family Life Today, and many more. Sissy Goff is the author of 13 books including her latest, The Worry-Free Parent. She also co-hosts the chart-topping Raising Boys and Girls podcast, with fellow Daystar Counselor David Thomas. The podcast just celebrated more than 5 million downloads to date.   Raising girls is particularly tricky today. That's why we created Courageous Girls almost 12 years ago and have written close to 100 conversation guides for Courageous Girls groups. These small groups of moms and daughters are gathering all over the globe, creating opportunities for moms to have intentional conversations with their daughters about all things related to the development of  her mind, heart, soul and body.  Learn more at mycourageousgirls.com or check out Terra's book, Courageous: Being Daughters Rooted in Grace.   If you need support for your child or adolescent or are ready to do your own work as a parent, go to www.livingwholehearted.com and schedule with one of our counselors or coaches.   To connect with Sissy Goff, visit:   WEBSITE - raisingboysandgirls.com   INSTAGRAM -   @SissyGoff  @RaisingBoysandGirls   NEW BOOK -  The Worry-Free Parent: Living in Confidence So Your Kids Can Too, by Sissy Goff, LPC-MHSP   PODCAST -  Raising Boys and Girls Podcast   =======================   We LOVE that you've decided to join us this week for the Living Wholehearted Podcast. Is it selfish or is it healthy to advocate for your needs?  In this episode, the first in our series, Healing From Church Wounds, we address the difference between grace-based systems, where imperfect people can safely express their needs, versus rigid and legalistic systems, often led by unhealthy toxic leaders, where individual needs are ignored or dismissed. How do we learn to honor our own needs and the needs of others at home, at work, and in our community? When do we go to God with our needs and when do we lean into relationships to help us? Join us as we dialogue and unpack this complicated, but important, topic together.    Jeff and Terra Mattson are the founders of Living Wholehearted, a professional counseling and executive coaching and organizational development firm outside Portland, Oregon, helping leaders live and lead with integrity. Their team of professionals are coming alongside leaders in the home, work, and community, providing confidential and safe places for leaders, their families, and their teams to find healing, wholeness, and health. Jeff and Terra are the co-hosts of the weekly Living Wholehearted Podcast, co-authors of the book, Shrinking the Integrity Gap: Between What Leaders Preach and Live, and are raising their two teen girls. They are also the founders of Courageous Girls, a non-profit dedicated to helping moms walk alongside their daughters at every stage of their growing years (learn more at mycourageousgirls.com). Bridging the gap between Biblical truth, clinical research, and trauma-informed relational wisdom, the Mattsons are writing, speaking, training, and coaching leaders in both sacred and secular spaces so that there are more wholehearted leaders in a broken and hurting world.    Check out more at livingwholeheated.com. There is so much to do. Our kids need to be fed and driven to their activities. Bills need to be paid. Church is asking for volunteers. Friends and family want our time. Bible study. Work deadlines. There are expectations and demands everywhere we look no matter what stage of life we find ourselves in. As leaders in the home, at work, and in the community, we are modeling to everyone in our wake what is most important to us by the way we spend our time. We are also modeling boundaries (or lack of boundaries). The Mattsons share about the Concentric Circles tool found in their book, Shrinking the Integrity Gap: Between What Leaders Preach and Live, and how they have learned to live out their priorities. Whether it's finding time with God or tending to their own soul care, their marriage, or their kids - in the midst of running two organizations it isn't easy. Want to be a parent who matches your walk with your talk? Want to model to your staff how to live from the values you espouse? Want to have more time for the people, and the things, you say you love the most? This episode is for you.   Jeff Mattson (MA ORGL) and Terra Mattson (MA LPC, LMFT) are the husband and wife team who founded Living Wholehearted and Courageous Girls. Terra is an Executive Coach, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, speaker, and author of Courageous: Being Daughters Rooted in Grace (David C. Cook, 2020). Jeff is a former pastor, Executive Coach, organizational development consultant, and speaker. Together they co-authored Shrinking the Integrity Gap: Between What Leaders Preach and Live (David C. Parenting is not easy. Let's just start there.    And yet, being a parent is one of the most important leadership roles we can have. Parents remain the most powerful and important influence in their kids' lives. Many parents lose sleep over their responsibility, wondering if they're providing the right boundaries, discipline, and examples to ensure their children have a bright future. Commonly known as the GIRL MOM with Courageous Girls and the Helping Moms Raise Confident Daughters courses, the number one question I, Terra, get asked is, “Where are the resources for boys?” Well, good news…today we are talking about raising amazing kids with the official BOY MOM.    Yes, today we've got author and podcaster, Monica Swanson, as well as her husband, Dave.    Monica and Dave Swanson co-authored a book, Raising Amazing: Bringing Up Kids Who Love God, Like Their Family, and Do the Dishes WITHOUT BEING ASKED. We are in the middle of a short series on detoxing. Today, we are talking about detoxing from the digital world. Don't worry, this is not a guilt-ridden episode on why all digital devices are bad and from the pit of hell. But it is timely as you consider what you are buying for your kids during the holiday season and as you think ahead about setting new healthy rhythms in your home for next year. We are personally still detoxing from habits we formed during the pandemic - hours of hallmark christmas movies, netflix series and yes, reruns of Survivor. So, no judgment from us. However, in all reality, in this digital age, children, with developing brains, are spending more time interacting with screens than ever before. There is less time playing outside, reading a book, or interacting with family. We have lost basic things like looking each other in the eye while we talk, and finishing a conversation about our days before we hit the pillow. Though technology has its benefits, it also has its harms. So we want to shore up some of our thinking and habits.   Arlene Pellican is a speaker, author and podcaster. Her latest book, Screen Kids: 5 Relational Skills Every Child Needs in a Tech-Driven World was co-authored with Gary Chapman. She's been honored to speak, write books (translated into over 10 languages), and appear on several media outlets like the Today Show, Wall Street Journal, Focus on the Family, Fox & Friends, TLC's Home Made Simple, FamilyLife Today, and The 700 Club. She hosts The Happy Home podcast.  She has been on the writing team for Proverbs 31 Ministries and Girlfriends in God. She earned a BA from Biola University and a MA from Regent University.    Her happy place is with her husband of more than 23 years, James, and their three children, Ethan, Noelle and Lucy. We are diving into an important topic today addressing abuse and how the church can grow in health and wholeness in our response to survivors. We talk about why victims do not speak up, helpful messages from the pulpit and not so helpful messages. We address how a person can find healing from their abuse and the compassion needed for the long journey. Listen to the first half of this vital conversation in last week's episode #62.   In part 2, we are talking specifically to leaders and how the church can better come alongside those who have been abused in the church. Joel and Kimberly Harris are transplants fromPortland, Oregon to South Dakota, where Joel is a pastor and worship leader. They have three girls, whom they homeschool. As a family, they value the power of music and storytelling and love to share good books with each other. After launching the Living Wholehearted Podcast two years ago, the Mattsons are airing their first reruns. The Trauma-Informed Theology episodes from January 2021 were the most listened to podcasts of all time. It might seem odd, but the truth is, people are becoming more and more aware of how trauma is affecting all of who we are - even our understanding of God, the church, and our communities.   Our guests on this episode help us dive into an important discussion; How do we help sex abuse survivors, as well as prevent more abuse in the church? This is never an easy topic, but a vital one we are passionate about and think it's a key to shrinking all our integrity gaps. Today we have Joel and Kimberly Harris who are transplants from Portland, Oregon, to South Dakota, where Joel is a pastor and worship leader. They have three girls, whom they homeschool. As a family, they value the power of music and storytelling and love to share good books with each other. Kimberly has written for various publications, including Christianity Today and Crosswalk, covering topics such as how abusers groom churches, biblical comfort in suffering, and empathy. Through their own story of abuse and seeing the unraveling of larger systemic wreckage, they still love God and the Church. They are helping survivors find their voice and want to see more leaders (who may also be abuse survivors) learn how to respond in helpful and healing ways. Whether you are a parent, ministry leader, business leader, or anywhere in between, please listen in.   For more resources on this topic, read Shrinking the Integrity Gap: Between What Leaders Preach & Live by Jeff and Terra Mattson, and Mending the Soul by Steve Tracy.   To Connect with Kimi or Joel visit:   ONLINE - https://www.kimiharris.com/ SOCIAL - Instagram - @kimi.n.harris Twitter - @joelharris411   To find more about Living Wholehearted and our services, from executive coaching and the Wholehearted Leadership Cohort, to professional counseling and Courageous Girls groups, sign up for the monthly newsletters at www.livingwholehearted.com or follow us on Instagram @living_wholehearted. Living with integrity is not just about living from the right motives. It's about living within one's design and learning to love your limits. Have you ever wondered how your wiring impacts the way you communicate, your energy levels, your passions, your anxieties and your greatest contributions to any community? This week, Jeff and Terra take time to share insights, based on their experience using the Core Values Index (CVI), that will impact every relationship that matters to you. If you are not familiar with the Core Values Index, the Mattsons have used this time-tested assessment for the last 12 years in their counseling and organizational development practices, helping parents, couples, families and organizational teams grow in their understanding of self and others. The CVI is over 97% reliable and helps us understand our innate wiring. Listen in as Jeff and Terra share a bit about the four CVI types: Merchants, Builders, Innovators and Bankers. Listen in on this two week series to help you better understand who you are, how you operate, and next week, how you can better navigate conflict!   For more information about the Core Values Index, listen to episodes 2-5 of the Living Wholehearted Podcast.   Jeff Mattson (MA ORGL) and Terra Mattson (MA LPC, LMFT) are the husband and wife team who co-founded Living Wholehearted and Courageous Girls. Join Jeff and Terra for a conversation about why it's so hard for leaders to rest and play. They address two common lies leaders believe: The first, “If I don't do it, no one else will … do it, do it right, or do it well.” The second lie, “I am what I do” and playing and rest feels outside my sense of self or identity. Though it's common for leaders to regularly fire on all cylinders, to live in a constant state of busyness, the Mattsons are calling wholehearted leaders to LEARN how to rest and play. This is crucial not only for their own ability to lead well and finish the race set before them, but also so they can model healthy rhythms to those they lead. You'll hear practical tips as well as a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the Mattson's personal journey around enjoying rest and play. In light of practicing rhythms of rest and play, the Mattsons are taking the rest of July off from recording podcasts. There will be a short break and the next episode will air the first week in August. Take the time to visit our library of 138 podcast episodes already recorded. She is also the visionary leader of a one-of-a-kind trauma-informed women's conference that addresses issues women face in the church today. Terra and her husband, Jeff, are the founders of Courageous Girls and the counseling and organizational development firm Living Wholehearted. Making their home just outside Portland, Ore., they are raising their two daughters to live courageously, rooted in grace. 5:09 – Terra 101 Terra wears a lot of hats, and it can sound overwhelming, but she doesn't do it all of it at the same time. Trauma informed counseling has been a passion of hers. 7:06 – Relationships Terra loves people and relationships, and people suggested she be a counselor. She loves helping leadership and doing ministry. 8:52 – Trauma impacts leadership There is a core issue with leaders not doing the work. Most high capacity leaders have past trauma. Trauma can impact the brain and shape leadership. 15:20 – Leaders in the home Terra worked with her daughters to teach them about the world and their bodies. She wanted to be their mentor and teacher. She now coaches other moms to help their daughters. 24:28 – Being tough Terra's father taught her to be tough and not cry. She grew up with a mental toughness, but she had no clue how to operate as a human with normal emotions. That caused problems as she got older. 31:15 – Helping children regulate emotions To help your children regulate their emotions, use a play therapy technique called ACT – Acknowledge the emotions, Communicate the limit and Target the alternative. Teach your kids healthy ways to deal with emotions, not to ignore their emotions. 46:50 – Pursue your daughter's heart Take time to intentionally pursue your daughter's heart. Let your daughters know you are a trusted and safe source. 51:12 – Get to know you Favorite TV show growing up? The Cosby Show Other career? Flip houses and interior design FEATURED QUOTES Teach your kids – someone sees my emotions, and they're OK. We define leaders as – if you have a following, you are a leader. Jeff and Terra are co-founders, co-leaders, and co-laborers at Living Wholehearted working with many leaders who are married to their ministry or business partner. In other cases, leaders are married to a supportive spouse but they find themselves going in completely separate directions due to career choices or leadership demands. It can be hard to balance the daily grind, trying to balance the many hats leaders wear. From home life, to parenting, to work, friendships, extended family, and community efforts - who really has the time to sit down and look their spouse in the eyes and say hi? Well…wholehearted leaders do. The Mattsons have a dynamic couple in the studio today to help peel away the layers of what couples in leadership need to do and believe in order to keep their marriages, their families, and their souls healthy. You will love this conversion no matter where you are in your marriage journey. The Mahoney's are refreshingly honest. Andy and Audra share their personal story and offer insights from their professional expertise. If you are not familiar with the Core Values Index, the Mattsons use this time tested assessment in their twenty years of practice, helping parents, couples families and organizational teams grow in their understanding of self and others. The CVI is over 97% reliable and helps us understand what motivates and brings anxiety. Jeff is an Organizational Leadership Coach and Terra is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is now solely working with executives. With a team of 11, Living Wholehearted helps leaders in a variety of settings, from corporate offices to leadership retreats and individual counseling. Jeff and Terra have each invested more than two decades in leadership coaching and trauma-informed therapy – and have helped national organizations and churches navigate difficult leadership crises. Their professional experience and research have formed their unique perspective on the relationship between leadership, integrity and trauma. They are parents to two teen daughters, speakers, authors, executive coaches, and business owners who get what it's like to juggle many aspects of one's lives.   With the help of Terra's book, Courageous: Being Daughters Rooted in Grace, and their co-authored book, Shrinking the Integrity Gap: Between What Leaders Preach and Live (October 2020, David C Cook), the Living Wholehearted Podcast is reaching a growing number of leaders in the home, at work, and in the community. One of the Mattsons primary goals is to share Biblical, clinical and relational wisdom to help leaders live and lead with integrity, addressing the real struggles that keep people up at night. Jeff and Terra believe that when a leader shrinks the integrity gap between what they preach and how they actually live, everyone in their wake benefits. From day-to-day disciplines to planning out annual Big Rocks, the Mattsons believe that every wholehearted leader understands the value and stewardship of time.   Jeff Mattson (MA ORGL) and Terra Mattson (MA LPC, LMFT) are the married co-founders of Living Wholehearted LLC and the Courageous Girls movement and the weekly hosts of the Living Wholehearted Podcasts. The Mattsons are also spokespeople for Christian Parenting, which reaches 1 million parents and produces the Dear Mattsons youtube series. And when they don't, everyone in their wake pays. It's just a matter of time.

Everything we do at Living Wholehearted and Courageous Girls is through the lens of trauma-informed theology. God draws near to the brokenhearted and wants to help those who are victimized. In episode 94, Terra talked with Rosie Rivera about her abusive trauma and her relationships with a God she so dearly loves. Rosia is the author of God Is Your Defender: Learning to Stand After Life Has Knocked You Down (Thomas Nelson, June 8, 2021). Through her own journey of trauma, she holds tight to the truth found in Exodus: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” CEO of Jenni Rivera Enterprises, businesswoman, television personality, and social media influencer (with over a million followers on Instagram alone), Rosie is one of the most influential and inspirational Latinas in the world. In her new book, God Is Your Defender, Rivera openly shares about the tragic loss of her sister, internationally acclaimed singer Jenni Rivera, in a plane crash in 2012. This thrust Rosie into the spotlight and immediately subjected her to false accusations and lawsuits from people who were trying to take advantage of her in her time of grief and her new position as executor over her sister's estate and CEO of Jenni Rivera Enterprises. Rosie also opens up about her experience of childhood sexual abuse, being bullied on national television, and even reaching (and recovering from) the brink of divorce. Despite deep hurts like these, she has refused to be beaten down or silenced by the Enemy. Why? Because she knows God is her defender. Follow on Instagram @rosieriveria or pick up her book, God is Your Defender, anywhere books are sold. **Warning, this episode is graphic and may trigger anyone with a past history of abuse. Take your time pausing and grounding yourself as you listen and better understand the needs of survivors and the impact of trauma.

Growing up in Lima, Peru, life wasn't always easy for Silvia Vasquez Lavado. In fact, it was incredibly challenging and quite chaotic at times. Turbulent political groups and governmental change made it difficult for any consistency to develop. The environment was constantly changing and often unsafe.  Recently, on our Explorers podcast, our host Richard Wiese had an opportunity to sit in with Silvia and hear about her experiences as the first openly gay woman to climb the seven summits successfully.   At the age of eighteen, Silvia came to the United States on a college scholarship for academics. She moved from turbulent Peru to the Amish Country in Pennsylvania. Needless to say, there was a period of adapting to go through.   Although she comes from a tough background, Silvia comes across as open and friendly. She says that instead of imposing her beliefs on others, her philosophy is about respecting where she is and learning about other cultures.  She's written a book, In the Shadow of the Mountain, which comes out in Winter 2022. It's already in development as a movie, with Selena Gomez playing the role of Silvia.   Silvia reminds us that affecting change is often complicated. It's a case of finding out about local changemakers and local grassroots organizations that support your causes. It's important to her that she provides a platform that allows people to express themselves. Her nonprofit organization, Courageous Girls, helps victims of sexual violence in their recovery.  When asked about challenges as a gay woman, she reminds us that sometimes being a woman is scary enough. There are, however, many parts of the world where being gay is dangerous, and it's tough to impose western culture on the rest of the world. Bringing change and understanding will be a gradual process.  If she were given the opportunity to advise her younger self, she would say, “ You can do anything. You are not alone. There are lots of people here to help, support, and protect you.”  To learn more about explorer Silvia Vasquez Lavado and her observations as an extreme explorer, check here. Our Verse: Hebrews 13:5,6 God has said, “I will never fail you, I will never abandon you.” So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, I will have no fear. Today we introduce Machmuda, a young Gypsy mother of 2 in Serbia, near Greece. Gypsies are a unique people group. Thought to have originated in India, they have migrated around the world and now live in many countries. We met Machmuda while traveling through Serbia. She had recently become a Christian, and shared an amazing story. Her father-in-law had repeatedly stolen food money meant for her children. He was too strong to oppose, so she cried out to Jesus to help her. One night, God sent a terrible nightmare to her father-in-law. The dream made it very clear that he was to give her the money. Trembling, he came the next morning and returned the money. As she told us this story, tears flowed, but then, she began to smile. Solemnly, she reached into her small purse and pulled out a few dinars, the local currency. She said, “I want to pay my first ever offering to God, I am thankful that He helped me and my children.” Her behavior was the farthest thing from normal Gypsy culture. Getting and holding wealth is everything for them. My friend, a pastor, was able to receive her small gift. It was all smiles and happiness as she honored God. Machmuda was growing into a beautiful Christian woman step-by-step, as she walked by faith obeying God. Here's the moral of the story: If you put God first, and cry out for His help He will take care of you. Pray for your sister Machmuda, that she will be blessed as a woman and a mom. She is truly a God honoring Determined Woman!

Our Verse: I John 5:5 And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. In our series, three young women stand strong for God, determined to do the right thing. Today meet Janette, from Eastern Europe. Her battle was different from Iqbal's. At an early age, she was discovered to be a musical genius. She blossomed into an outstanding professional violinist. She received many honors and became a star performer in her country's national orchestra. She traveled internationally as a performing artist. Through a dramatic chain of events, Janette accepted Christ as her Savior. She continued to receive benefits and accolades in her professional career, but deep down she felt her first priority was to serve Jesus. The day came when she told her father she must leave the orchestra and her career. She would be sell her expensive violin. That Janette was a professional violinist meant everything to her father. He became very angry and said “You are no longer my daughter, LEAVE!” It was a time of great sadness for Janette. She followed her conviction and sold that precious violin. In the following years, she served God. He brought her a strong godly husband and eventually gave back her music. Jesus said, “Everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.” This verse became Janette's reality- she gave up all to serve Jesus, He gave back even more! He blessed her then...and He continues to bless her to this day. Oh..and a PS Her pop became a Christian, they were fully reconciled and now he waits in Heaven for her! Best ending you could have. God truly is good! Next: Machmuda's Miracle!

Our Verse: 1 John 5:5 Who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. Here are 3 stories of modern day girls who fought battles. God helped them “win the battle against the world”. Iqbal, Janette and Machmuda. Iqbal lives in Serbia, near Greece. It's a place where ancient feuds don't die, they continue for many years. As a young girl, she was forbidden to walk on certain paths near her village. The people who traveled those paths were on the other side of a local feud involving her people. All of her people were under a terrible obligation called hak-marr-yah. This meant that when anyone in her family saw any member of the opposing family they were required to kill them! And... they were required to kill her! It sounds crazy, but that was the rule of the feud. The time came when the young people of Iqbal's village realized it was ridiculous to continue the feud. Iqbal and others said “We can't continue doing this. This is not pleasing to God. We need to change this.” So while the older people continued hak-marr-yah, the blood feud, Iqbal and her friends made a plan. They decided to declare a day called Pie-ah-teem, roughly translated forgiveness and redemption. On a certain day in the mid 90's,they declared “Pie-ah-teem- A day of forgiveness”. Young and old agreed to bring their feud to an end. No longer would Iqbal walk some paths and avoid others fearing for her life. A new peace and security came to her village. Sometimes it takes one or more people to stand for what's right and publicly proclaim it. Iqbal stood up and won her battle, let's follow her example, both men and women! Next time: Janette and the violin.

I have received a lot of feedback asking how the technical issues with the podcast are coming along.  So, in this podcast, I will touch on the challenges and hurdles of this week’s interview.  The reason for this is to give you a “behind the scenes” into my journey – and to demonstrate… it’s the journey that makes us better.  The only way to get where you want to go, requires starting.  A journey of 1,000 miles, starts with one step (sometimes that’s also a few trips and stumbles)…all of which make us better, wiser and stronger. The other common question is regarding my thoughts on this week’s interview.  I will share my thoughts as well as looking forward to yours, so that I can include them in the take-aways, lessons learned, and inspiration of the week. It is my hope that you find this mid-week podcast – even more inspiration to make your dream a reality, and to be inspired to make a difference.  As I have said many times, there are a lot of people who count on it! This week’s episode was my take on goal setting.  From a coaching perspective… what works and what doesn’t, as well as some things to consider that you may not have.   Please go to http://www.innernorthstar.com (www.innernorthstar.com) for more on my blog about what I consider the foundation of what it takes to start 2016 off righthttp://www.innernorthstar.com (.)  This episode covers honesty with yourself, being present, eliminating the spirit limiting emotion of worry, the value of challenges, and the power of gratitude. Also as I mention in this podcast, I tried very hard to connect with Sylivia Vasquez-Lavado who is the founder of http://www.courageousgirls.org (Courageous Girls.org)http://http://courageousgirls.org/ (.)  (Please check out the amazing work she is doing!)   She works with girls once they  have been rescued or escaped after being sold into human trafficking. We tried connecting while she was in Miami, Napal, and  finally talked while she was at the airport in Chile.  The sound quality was not what I wanted, as the topic of human trafficking is very important and I didn’t want to miss any of it due to a poor internet connection.  As this title says, everything happens for a reason and I am going to devote weeks to this topic from many different aspects.  So, I’m glad I had time to reflect on our conversation and the need to really cover it much more thoroughly.  You will be hearing from her and others, soon!  Once again… another unpredictable week! I hope you are enjoying the Holiday Season!  Thank you for taking the time to listen!   Thanks for Listening and Subscribing!
