What's in the box!? Scott Summers invites Emma Frost into his mind palace and shows her his special black cube, constructed with a little help from his ex. Gulp. This week, we reach the halfway point in our ScEmma Counseling Session series, discussing Dark X-Men: The Confession as well as Uncanny X-Men issues 518 and 519, which mark the height of their functionality. Yup, it's the top of their hill, and we're not ready to look on the other side. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Instead, let's revel in their achievements as they recognize each other's authentic selves while casting off their conditioned selves. Namor, Tony Stark, the X-Force kill squad. Forget about them. Scott and Emma, you're two desperate, hyper-vigilant people pleasers who can forget their shady past sins and embrace their sexy present sins. Helping us navigate Scott and Emma's multiple psychic revelations is Dr. Nicole Lepera and her book, How to Be the Love You Seek: Break Cycles, Find Peace and Heal Your Relationships. Together, we explore the seven conditioned selves, consider which apply to Scott and Emma, and wonder whether Psylocke was the right choice for Professor X's surgical assistant. Dark X-Men: The Confession was published by Marvel Comics in September 2009. It's written by Craig Kyle and Chris Yost, penciled by Bing Cansino, inked by Roland Paris, colored by Edgar Delgado and Brian Reber, and lettered by Rob Steen. Uncanny X-Men issues 518 and 519 were published between December of 2009 and January of 2010. They were written by Matt Fraction, penciled by Terry Dodson, inked by Rachel Dodson, colored by Justin Ponsor, and lettered by Joe Caramagna. As always, Omnibus, the Digital Comic Store and Reader, sponsors our Referrals segment. This week, we selected two comic book titles on the site that satisfy this episode's themes. Developed by Craig Kyle and Greg Johnson, Wolverine and the X-Men is the animated series produced by Marvel Entertainment. It is the fourth animated adaption of the Marvel Comics X-Men characters following Pryde of the X-Men (1989), X-Men: The Animated Series (1992), and X-Men: Evolution (2000). Luke and Nathan travel to the days of future past, also known as 2008, to revisit this 26-episode single season comic book series. After an explosion at the school, the X-Men went their separate ways. But they must unite once again under the leadership of Wolverine to prevent an inevitable war in a battle against the injustices of the Mutant Response Division (MRD).

That's right, the Devil's Lettuce Film Society is going mainstream on this episode as we watch the third Thor movie and the (checks notes) 17th MCU film! Will any of this make sense without context? And are there any stakes if Thor himself seems to be completely invincible? Find out here! Plus we get into auteur theory again, which is always a good time. To Thor: Ragnarok βάζει το fun πίσω στους υπερήρωεςNotes: Το Marvel Rewind φτάνει επιτέλους στο Νο.3! Εκεί βρίσκουμε το Thor: Ragnarok όπως εσείς το ψηφίσατε, ένα soft reboot για το franchise του χαρακτήρα που είχε πραγματικά ανάγκη αυτήν την τονωτική ένεση. Τη βρήκε στον Taika Waititi και στο σενάριο των Eric Pearson, Craig Kyle και Christopher L. Yost, ένα μικρό πείραμα που έπιασε και έβαλε την ταινία στην top πεντάδα σας, όταν όλες οι υπόλοιπες ταινίες εκεί είναι ουσιαστικά οι ταινίες Avengers (σόρι, Ultron!).Το POP για τις Δύσκολες Ώρες ξαναβλέπει και αναλύει το Thor: Ragnarok, μία ταινία που σηματοδοτεί μία διαφορετική φάση της Marvel εσωτερικά, με περισσότερες ελευθερίες και διάθεση για δημιουργική ταυτότητα.Γιατί λειτουργεί τόσο καλά το χιούμορ του Thor: Ragnarok και σε ποιες περιπτώσεις θα προτιμούσαμε μία δόση λιγότερο απ' αυτό; Γιατί ήταν απρόβλεπτη επιλογή ο Taika Waititi για τη σκηνοθεσία, από πού άντλησε έμπνευση για την ταινία και πώς έδωσε χαρακτήρα και τοπικότητα στην ταινία;Γιατί πίστευε ο Mark Ruffalo ότι θα τους απολύσουν και ποια σκηνάρα μεταξύ Hulk και Thor δε μπορούμε να ξεχάσουμε; Τελικά ταιριάζει ή όχι αυτός ο τόνος σε έναν χαρακτήρα ημίθεου όπως του Thor και τι φοβόμαστε για το μέλλον του; Τι έκανε το arc της Tessa Thompson ως Valkyrie και τι δεν έκανε αυτό της Cate Blanchett ως Hela; Πώς νιώθουμε για τη χρήση του Loki και πόσο φίνα περνάει ο Anthony Hopkins στα 10 πρώτα λεπτά της ταινίας; Επίσης, είναι δυνατόν να υπάρχει καν ο Korg;

Tonight on Character Crunch Jeff and Dave are talking about Thor Ragnnarok Thor: Ragnarok is a 2017 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Thor, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the sequel to 2011's Thor and 2013's Thor: The Dark World, and is the seventeenth film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Taika Waititi from a screenplay by Eric Pearson and the writing team of Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost, and stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor alongside Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, and Anthony Hopkins. In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor must escape the alien planet Sakaar in time to save Asgard from Hela and the impending Ragnarök. A third Thor film was confirmed in January 2014, with Kyle and Yost beginning work on the screenplay. The involvement of Hemsworth and Hiddleston was announced that October. Waititi joined the film as director a year later, after The Dark World director Alan Taylor chose not to return. Ruffalo joined the cast reprising the role of Hulk from previous MCU films, which allowed elements of the 2006 comic storyline "Planet Hulk" to be adapted for Ragnarok. The rest of the cast, including Blanchett as Hela, was confirmed in May 2016, with Pearson's involvement revealed at the start of filming in July 2016. Principal photography took place in Brisbane and Sydney, Australia, with the film also having exclusive use of Village Roadshow Studios in Oxenford, concluding in October 2016. Thor: Ragnarok premiered in Los Angeles on October 10, 2017, and was released in the United States on November 3, 2017, in 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D. The film received largely positive reviews, with many critics declaring it the best film of the Thor trilogy and praising Waititi's direction, the cast, action sequences, music, and humor. It has grossed more than $450 million worldwide.

Wolverine and the X-Men was a huge hit in 2003, when he and Craig Kyle dreamed up the story of a young girl who had been cloned from the DNA of Wolverine, complete with his claws, healing factor and bloodlust. X-23 struck such a chord with the fans that Marvel asked them to bring the character into the world of the printed comics. X-23: Innocence Lost and Target X smashed sales numbers and a legend was born! Chris went on to write long, seminal runs on New X-Men, X-Force, Spider-Man and wrote a stellar adaptation of Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game. He even jumped over to the DC Comics Universe to try his hand at the Batman titles. He continued to write for animation, penning stories for Cartoon Network. TMNT, Batman, the Fantastic Four and Iron Man were all big hits that led to his role as Head Writer on Marvel's smash sensation, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. He even tried his hand at the Star Wars Universe, working on Lucasfilm's Star Wars: Rebels. As the screenwriter for the live action Thor: The Dark World and the soon to be released Thor: Ragnarok (not to mention the appearance of X-23 in the latest Wolverine movie, LOGAN), Chris Yost has solidified his permanent role in the comic-book mythos. We're thrilled to have him on the show, so sit back and enjoy the ride! http://BlastoffComics.com
