Today we are speaking with Love Language Linguist Paul Zolman. Paul is the author of Love is God. In His wisdom, He placed us in a variety of circumstances that require us to find our way back to His pure love. So, what qualifies Paul Zolman to speak about love? His childhood experience of the opposite of love. From that austere beginning, and the distaste it formed inside him, he searched for and eventually created a method that transformed his life from anger to loving everyone. Growing up in a family of abuse, physical touch became his preferred love style, only because of the regularity. He could almost count on it. It was consistent. He came to think that was the way to express love. But deep inside, he knew that was a twisted belief. He wanted a better life for himself, which is why he created a paradigm shift that works. In this book, you'll find what helped Paul Zolman move from a childhood boot camp of abuse to being a person who loves everyone and can find good about anyone in any circumstance. This is truly the role of love. In this episode, we dive into: 1) Paul shared his story of his childhood, experiencing the opposite of love, and how he learned to love, forgive, and continue to write to his parents on a weekly basis for 32 years, this helped him to shift past the anger he was holding onto. 2) There are so many nuggets in this episode about how to heal, choose to respond differently to your circumstances, the role of love and how it comes from internal and not external work, and his creation of The Role of Love, how it is being used in some schools and how it is encouraging people to focus on gratitude, love and searching for the goodness in others. In this episode we are speaking with CEO and Founder, Alundas Haven. Alundas Havens was a Marine Corps Veteran. He endured physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, and created mental barriers to keep myself “safe” from the world. He later understood that he trapped himself into a box where he had limited beliefs and didn't understand simple life concepts. The Marine Corps allowed him to find his tribe and excel but when he had a freak injury that too took a toll on his mental well being. He had to leave what he was good at and searched for what was next, as a Veteran it's tough to reintegrate into a society that does not understand you one bit. He started The Winners Paradigm to help people who are currently battling to improve and calibrate their mindset so they can achieve their definition of success. In this episode we discuss: 1) Alundas shares his journey through challenges, how he came to recognize his own limiting beliefs, and how he created The Winners Paradigm to help people who are working to improve their mindset so they can achieve their definition of success. 2) This led him to help others to produce their podcasts and continue to share their messages with the world. In this episode, I am sharing the go-to question, that I refer back to on a regular basis. If we are always willing to learn and grow, and if we are asking for growth, then life will be forever teaching us lessons. What we choose to make that mean is all on us. I have lived and embodied this question and lesson especially over the last month. In this episode, we discuss: 1) We decide at any time what something is teaching us. We are a victim of our circumstances or a the victor of our story. We always get to decide. 2) How we all sign up for our soul contract and how life gives us the challenges and experiences to grow into being able to serve that soul contract. Life doesn't always give us what we want, it gives us what we need in order to grow into that higher version of ourselves. 3) When we ask what life is teaching us, we are opening up our subconscious mind to see the possibilities. Ask a different question, get a different answer. 4) Asking more questions, creates curiosity, helps you to see potential, build emotional intelligence, lending to better soft skills - key in leadership at work and interpersonal relationship building. The Power of Your VoiceIn this episode, I am sharing some thoughts and misconceptions when it comes to “finding your voice”. You actually don't need to find your voice. You haven't lost it or never had it, you haven't used it because you are waiting to feel confident, to trust it or to find a way to avoid criticism or judgments from others who might disagree with your message. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Action breeds confidence. The only way to start to build confidence is to get into action. Let it be messy, not perfect, this is how you let others see you, how you build confidence, create feedback and then re-ajust and course correct. 2) Your voice is unique. Your message is unique. When we give into the fear, we are honestly playing a story and making it about us. When we can step outside of ourselves and see what we can do, how our message can help others, we can work through our fears of what will others think. 3) I have to bring HD (human design) into this conversation. If you have not had an HD assessment, I strongly encourage you to dive in. The throat center is all about expression and manifesting. I will be diving into more content on the throat and the spleen (our center for intuition) because as we are diving into all of the content for the HOW method, Healing, Owning and Writing your story, it has become more apparent how we have to learn more about who we are and find our own unique way to work through our fears of using our voice. In this episode, I am sharing the some thoughts on boundaries, what we allow, how to recognize when we are carrying things that don't serve us, and some practical tips for how to work though the process of letting go when we realize that we are carrying things that are not ours to carry. This is a concept that affects and impacts so many of us, especially when it comes to building a business in the online space, as well as so many of us being disconnected or hiding behind our phones or devices. In this episode, we discuss: 1) Boundaries are our highest form of self-respect, we choose what we allow into our lives. That is people, energy, experiences, how we choose to feel, all of it is on us and it is our responsibility. 2) What we allow is what will continue. It honestly is that simple. When you change your response with someone in your life and put a boundary in place, don't automatically elevate your expectations of their behaviour. Their behaviour is always their choice. 3) Get real, honest and raw with yourself. When something isn't working in your life, what can you change, what can you do differently, and how can you bring it back to ownership to see what is missing in your life? In this episode, I am getting a little spicy as I share some thoughts and perspective on the coaching industry. How coaches need to stop shaming their clients to do x,y,z or they won't be successful. I also share some tips for the client when it comes to making choices in their own business and how they can create a checklist to refer to when it comes to selecting a coach. In this episode, we discuss: 1) How coaches can stand in integrity in their business by continuing to commit to doing their own work, their own healing and then speak to their clients from that grounded space instead of from the lack, shaming and judgement space. 2) I shared some tips to creating your own checklist when it comes to choosing a coach who may expand you to step into the impact you here to create. How it's so important to not choose a coach out of lack or FOMO, yet to choose to get in the rooms or containers that inspire you to move out of your own way to build what you are here to Join the Rising Leaders Collective https://marshavanw.com/rlcm Hypnosis/Subliminals Bundles for Leaders in Life and Business https://www.marshavanw.com/offers/56vXSnx9 Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”. In this episode, we are discussing the taboo topic of shame. I have personally shared 4 episodes over the years on shame. It is one of those topics that we need to add a voice to and as soon as we do, shame loses it's power. In today's episode we are talking all about shame, how it has a power in our lives, and how EFT tapping is one way to release it. In this episode we discuss: 1) Humans crave security, safety and how these “feelings” come from within. 2) What shame is, the difference between shame and guilt and how paralyzing shame can be in our lives. 3) How vulnerability is a method to release shame, give shame a voice and how to determine who has earned the right to hear our stories. This is the path to connection and the people who are meant to be in our lives. 4) EFT Tapping, what it is, how it is effective in releasing anxiety, shame and I share this with the members of the Rising Leaders Collective and it is included in the Hypnosis/Subliminals Bundle below. #386: My FAV Brene Brown QuoteIn this episode, I am sharing one of my fav Brene Brown quotes: “ I now see how owning our story and loving ourselves through the process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.” ~ Brene Brown In this episode, we discuss: 1) Embracing change and everything that life is trying to bring to us, yet we are blocked by our “stories” or our shame of what everyone else will think of us. 2) Ownership literally changes everything. We cannot change anything if we don't own it first and if we don't own it, it owns you. 3) Loving ourselves with compassion and grace through our difficult stories is truly the only way to live. It takes tremendous practice to learn how to do this, yet it is such a powerful lesson. 4) Learn to accept and maybe eventually love the lessons your story is teaching you. Don't make it about the trauma of the story, shift it to be about the lessons you've learned.Join the Writing Your Story Masterclass:https://www.everybodyholdsastory.com/writing-your-story-masterclass Join the Rising Leaders Collective https://marshavanw.com/rlcm Hypnosis/Subliminals Bundles for Leaders in Life and Business https://www.marshavanw.com/offers/56vXSnx9 Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”. In this episode, we are discussing the idea of writing your story. This journey of writing 7 years ago and I could never have imagined it would lead to this place of helping others to learn how to share and write their stories too. So you have had this dream of becoming a published author but have no clue of where to start? Here are a few tips I wanted to share. In this episode we discuss: 1) Who is going to benefit from your story? Who are you speaking to? It actually isn't about us, that was a huge eye opener when I was writing my story. 2) Why are you being called to write? Can you write from a place of integrity about your story? What is being shared, what is off limits, what are the readers' takeaways? 3) What are the turning points in your story. This is where I was, this is what happened, and this is where I am now. Such a simple step process but that's the general breakdown. You are the hero of your own story and that is what you are being called to share. 4) Are you being called to be a collaborative author or a solo author? I have done both and am sharing some points on both. His book, “Full Heart Living: Conversations with the Happiest People I Know,” is an amazon.com bestseller. Whether counseling, writing, or teaching, his passion for helping people live their best lives flows through. In this episode we discuss: 1) Tom's life experience from trauma to triumph, what trauma can mean in the body, what triumph means and how to search for triumph every day. 2) What full heart living is, how to embrace it, be vulnerable to build connections and relationships and how all of our past stories lead us to where we are and who we are in our life today. 3) The gift of trauma, how we need to stand up for ourselves first, feel what we need to feel before we can see the situation differently. Learning to shift perspective, see the story from a different light, have compassion or empathy means allowing ourselves to feel the feelings first. The more we heal ourselves the more we have the ability to share our lessons with others and help them to heal too. In this episode, part 5 of this series on how to heal and own your story, I am sharing some thoughts on how to own your presence and own your future. We started with owning your past, owning your emotions, owning the path to forgiveness, owning your choices and now to wrap it up it is owning your presence to own your future. In this episode we discuss:1) The most reliable way to predict the future is to create it. Learning to stay in the present moment, not spiral and focus on what you need every single day to be your best self. 2) Take a regular inventory of what you need every single day and believe in your worth to give yourself what you need to be your best self.3) Know that the big ideas that tap you on the shoulder are for you. You are worth of the ideas, of the tap long before the tap. 4) Below I am sharing the Hypnosis/Subliminals Bundle that includes many of the tools that I use to support my own healing and subconscious reprogramming. In this episode I am sharing a coaching clip from one of my programs. It was all about our thoughts, our subconscious programming and how we tend to plan for the worst case scenario. When we plan for lack, for the shoe to drop, we create that reality. The In this episode we discuss:1) Where you are spending your energy, time and resources in planning for the worst case scenario. 2) How can you look for proof in your experience, for what you have overcome to show that you are more than capable to deal with whatever shoe might drop in your future? 3) Below I am sharing the link for the Hypnosis Bundles that I am releasing as a birthday bundle special. In this episode, part 4 of this series on how to heal and own your story, I am sharing some thoughts on how to own your choices. The irony of this topic is not lost on me, the name of this podcast is Own Your Choices Own Your Life, in case you forgot what you were listening to, and it is not ironic to me that it was the words choices, own your choices, radical responsibility that changed my life. I love that without knowing it years ago, before I had a business, that I named this podcast by this title. This is a mantra that has shifted everything for me. So far we have unpacked the process of healing and owning our past and owning our emotions, and this episode we are talking all about owning our choices. In this episode we discuss:1) What does the word owning and choices mean, how can we unpack them and see that we are and how we have living these words in our life. Words can have different meanings and depending on where we are in our journey it makes a difference. Words can be triggering or expanding and it reflects where we are in our journey. 2) By owning all of our decisions, that might feel like a lot of responsibility, but we can also take back a lot of our own personal power. Set reasonable goals, interrupt your patterns that are not serving you, flip the script, be kind and compassionate with yourself. Create a mantra to interrupt your pattern and disrupt the thought process. The faster you can catch yourself and disrupt the pattern or flip the script the faster you can create change. 3) Create a mantra to call yourself out on your own BS when you are not living up to your own choices. 4) Recognize why you are making the choices you are making. Is it to impress someone else? Is it to meet the expectations for someone else; to not disappoint someone else, as a people pleaser, or a martyr. Ask what your choice is? Allow yourself to make a decision or choice and know that you will make mistakes, but this only gives you feedback to make a different choice next time. 5) Go internally, ask if your decisions are actually moving you in the direction of what you want to create in your life? In this episode I am sharing a coaching analogy that recently occurred. A client was asking how to overcome the hurt, anger, frustration of others' behaviours and I gave her an analogy about recognizing that everything is energy and we get to decide how much energy we give to something or someone at any point in time. The In this episode we discuss:1) Look at your energy as a piggy bank, what are your daily deposits and withdrawals, and are you doing way more withdrawals than deposits? 2) If energy is money, how much money are you spending on people, circumstances and situations that are literally bleeding your piggy bank dry? 3) What if you love your piggy bank enough to value the money (or deposits) that go in and out every single day? In this episode I am sharing a bonus episode on the steps to healing to own your story. There were previous episodes on owning your past, your emotions and your choices and as I broke it down, it became clear that an episode on forgiveness was a must. There are a ton of definitions on forgiveness and here I am sharing messages that hit home for me and have helped me to move forward, forgive and let go. One definition of forgiveness by Iyanla Vanzant is, “Forgiveness is not forgetting; it is simply denying your pain the right to control your life." Today I want to share some points on forgiveness that literally changed my life many years ago and I still continue to use these tools today. In this episode we discuss: 1) The difference between wounds and scars and what are they doing to you, or how are they affecting you in your life? Acknowledge it to own it to change it, not to place blame on someone else. 2) “Until you heal the wounds of your past, you are going to bleed. You can bandage that bleeding with alcohol, drugs, food, unhealthy items, but eventually it will all ooze through and stain your life. You must find the strength to open the wounds up, stick your hands inside, pull out the core of the pain that is holding you in the past, the memories and make peace with them.” Iyanla Vanzant. 3) Start somewhere small, identify something you have been holding onto and how that has or has not been serving you. Acknowledge, consider the hurt, the pain and look at how it has affected you in your life. Next, accept what you cannot change, and observe your own reactions to your behaviour with no judgment. Decide if you agree to forgive this person and if you are ready to move away as a victim, this situation etc? Recognize what this behaviour is doing to you and your life?4) Acknowledge your emotions about the harm done to you and how they affect your behavior, and work to release them. Ask yourself what can you learn from the experience? Literally let it go, through subliminal, NLP tools or subconscious reprogramming, this requires healing, and mantras to disrupt your pattern that isn't serving you and is allowing you to hold onto this energy. How can you repair this situation, circumstance and not let it hold you back? 5) Give yourself grace, compassion and respect that every single relationship is a reflection of your relationship with yourself. You go first. Repair, learn, forgive, and continue to rinse and repeat as much as necessary. In this episode I am sharing a quick episode on one of my favourite quotes by Joseph Campbell. “The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.” You are holding the key, even though or especially when it doesn't feel like you do. You hold the keys. Now ask yourself if you are willing to use them? The In this episode we discuss:1) What are you avoiding? Money, relationships, things you know aren't working for you? I like to look at that as a cave. Sometimes we can hate entering that cave every single day, and those days we have to sit back and remind ourselves that we have the keys. We are either freeing ourselves or locking ourselves in the cave. 2) The courage we are looking for comes from entering the cave. That simple, Do the thing and build your courage every time you enter the cave. Even standing and staring at the cave is wasting energy. The very cave you are afraid to enter turns out to be the source of what you are looking for.3) “We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” Joseph CampbellJoin the Rising Leaders Collectivehttps://marshavanw.com/rlcmHealing to Own Your Story (April Program)**LINKMarsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”. In this episode, part 2 of this series on how to heal and own your story, I am sharing some thoughts on how to own your emotions. There is a big distinction here between the words of owning and controlling your emotions. I never love the word controlling, we aren't robots, we are feeling, moving, emotional human beings. I think we can identify, break down and take responsibility for our emotions. This process requires curiosity, listening, not judging, not resenting, acceptance, empathy, compassion and understanding. Learning how to own our emotions, our responses, our triggers is one key way in how we can change how we respond instead of reacting towards different experiences that trigger these emotions. In this episode:1) Learning how to identify your emotions, what your triggers, patterns and responses are can teach you a lot about yourself. Learning how to recognize your emotional patterns, what you are feeling and not focusing on controlling it, and Identifying these feelings, getting curious, journaling and unpacking them is how you can learn to heal and change these responses. 2) By approaching your emotions with curiosity, empathy, and acceptance, you can shift the focus from criticizing yourself or building a case against someone else to understanding yourself and taking actions that are more in line with what you want, thereby recognizing you have more power in your life than you think. 3) Own and take responsibility for your feelings, and when you are learning to speak or communicate them with others, learn to speak in the first person, not in a defensive manner of what others are doing wrong. Blaming others is projecting responsibility on other people. This does not lead to change. 4) If you have been told to continuously bury your emotions, suck it up, throw it under the rug, and stop complaining, this can be a really difficult process for you to work through. Suppression does not work, it is a band aid approach that does not lead to lasting change. Looking for professional help can be a huge source of support. Also the power of subconscious reprogramming can help to heal limiting thoughts, behaviours in order to change them moving forward. In this episode I am sharing a really quick episode on a quote that recently hit home for me. The quote was by Brad Bizjack and he said, “There are people in your life who will not become the best version of themselves until you decide to become the best version of yourself” So after reading that quote, let yourself imagine who is waiting for you to go first? In this episode we discuss:1) What if the people we can impact the most and the people who can impact our life the most are the people we haven't met yet. That shifts our mindset for how we show up. Even when it comes to posting on social media, I send that post out and bless and release it, knowing it will support the people it is meant to. 2) How do you need to go first? What is working, what is not working? How can you look back and see how this has proven true in your life? 3) What are you waiting for? In this episode I am sharing some thoughts on how to own your past. This may seem counterproductive since we are always told to stay in the present moment, but have you ever thought about how much energy, time, thoughts, are spent replaying your past? It is not as simple as just moving forward or ignoring those feelings that are wrapped up in your past stories. We have all spent years pushing things under the rug and we know that doesn't work. What if instead we learn how to own our past and spend the time healing it in order to bring out our best self forward into our future? In this episode we discuss:1) Our current life is a result of all of our past actions, choices, and experiences and our future is determined by the meaning of those stories, how we act in the present moment and not letting it define us in the future. 2) Perspective is everything. The story only has the meaning that you give it and learning to remain more neutral, more forgiving as opposed to judging your past, will help to put it all into perspective. 3) Where can you acknowledge and accept the past you cannot change. This is the serenity prayer in that serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. This is where perspective can improve from, recognizing what we can control. Where can you forgive yourself or others for what your past stories are? 4) With perspective, acknowledgment, acceptance, forgiveness, surrender and owning what was yours to control, you will be able to see how life has happened to help you become who you are today. If you don't own it it owns you. 5) NLP techniques and subconscious reprogramming is one key tool to heal your limiting beliefs, from hypnosis, subliminals, EFT Tapping and other NLP techniques it will help you to heal and own your past stories. In this episode I am sharing 4 tips to improve your ability to receive. Everyone wants to increase their feelings of abundance, increase their wealth, financial freedom, yet without the ability to receive what is already available in front of us, we will never hold more abundance. Receiving and giving are two sides of the same coin, and for many giving is easier than receiving. Today I want to share the 4 key steps to receiving. In this episode we discuss:1) Identifying the 4 blocks, people pleaser, hider, fighter or victim, and unpacking our responses, triggers and how this shows up in our lives. Working through the NLP techniques, this requires healing this story and then shifting to seeing it all differently. I invite you to take the Story Blocks Quiz, https://www.marshavanw.com/story-blocks 2) Identify what receiving means to you? Do you see that as a sign of weakness to ask for help? Are you judging yourself for asking for help? If you receive help does it mean that you can't do it yourself? And does that interfere with your belief about independence? Be honest and break down the meaning of the word receiving, and how would your life change if you changed the definition of the word receiving? 3) Practice every single day starting with the small things, when someone compliments you, says thank you and means it. Don't deflect, push it away or throw back a compliment to take the attention off of you, practice receiving it. 4) Let go of judgements, and give freely with no attachments or expectations of what you want or expect to receive. The attachments or expectations only hurt you and block you from receiving what is available for you. 5) Identify your own self-worth stories, opinions or limitations because this is holding you back more than you may realize. Receiving takes practice, consistency, repetition and NLP subconscious pre-programming tools. Wherever you are blocking yourself in one area, you are blocking yourself in all areas of receiving. This requires you to practice being present, recognizing your default patterns, Join the Rising Leaders Collectivehttps://marshavanw.com/rlcmDisrupt Your Default Patterns (10 day program starting in early March)https://www.marshavanw.com/offers/5zycUk2V Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”. In this episode I am sharing the concepts of recognizing our default patterns. These are the deep patterns, shadows or limiting beliefs that we have held onto for years. Most of these default patterns might help to keep us safe especially if we came through times of trauma and these were our methods of protecting ourselves. These patterns protect us during times of stress but there comes a point where it doesn't help us in our current lives and we aren't living under that same trauma, so we don't need these behaviours. It is also understanding the power of our limiting beliefs and how they spill into all areas of our lives and we can't outwork or outmuscle our limiting beliefs. It involves recognizing the repeat patterns, learning from them and then creating an opposite choice or decision. In this episode we discuss:1) Identifying the 4 blocks, people pleaser, hider, fighter or victim, and unpacking our responses, triggers and how this shows up in our lives. Working through the NLP techniques, this requires healing this story and then shifting to seeing it all differently. This is the power to disrupt our patterns in order to change our responses. I invite you to take the Story Blocks Quiz, https://www.marshavanw.com/story-blocks 2) The shadows and patterns never go away. Our reaction to them changes. It's important to recognize that shadows will always continue to be present, and to not resist them. When we resist them we judge them and that only keeps us stuck in this downward spiral. 3) In order to consciously change your conscious behaviours or patterns, it starts by healing the subconscious mind first and recognizing that it is part of you. Instead of fighting and resisting it, recognize those patterns as an old friend who was simply trying to keep you safe. In this episode I am sharing the concepts of can you show up when no one is there to cheer you on? Can you show up for 1 person and hold space when you truly were hoping for 10? We must grow into the capacity to hold space for others whether it is in life or business. This ties into the message that we have to follow our gut, our dreams and our desires long before we see them come to life. In this episode we discuss:1) Can you first show up for yourself every day to follow your dreams and desires? When the vision drops or the dream is tapped on your shoulder, can you follow through when there's no proof of what it will look like or unfold? This is how the podcast and my book started, following up on the mission I was meant to create, with no clue how it would unfold. 2) What do you do when no one shows up, no one is supporting you, or it feels like no one is believing in you? Can you show up in those times? 3) The importance of being neutral, not letting the highs be too high and not letting the no's be too low. The story only ever has the meaning that we give it so it is up to us to decide what meaning we are giving it. This work is done by recognizing our default patterns. Today we are speaking with Author and Addictions expert, John Giordano. John has gone through incredible life transformation, from the stigma of childhood sexual abuse, homelessness and severe addiction to being a renowned addiction expert with 36 years of sobriety. He started his own holistic treatment center with only $300 which he eventually sold for $45,000,000. Currently he is a published author of 3 books, including his latest book 'The Kid From The South Bronx Who Never Gave Up' and is the Chaplain for the North Miami Police Department. In this episode we discuss: 1) Why there is only a 5-8% recovery rate for the typical addiction treatment programs. John breaks down lots of details on the current models and why he created a different recovery model that didn't exist at the time. 2) TRT, Trauma Release Technique, that John created to help support people through their traumas to create long lasting change. 3) The resilience factor and how no matter how many challenges John faced, he chose to never give up. His mission and purpose became so much larger than him and he continued to set out to support others in dealing with their addictions. In this episode I am sharing the concepts of learning to hold more and not carry in. This concept hit me when I was working through some negative feedback, challenging dm's, people asking for support and so much doubt about how to show up. I have spent the last 9 months learning more about my human design, and how as a sacral generator, my authority is to respond when I feel the pull. This does not mean that I react to everything around me, but more that I have learned how to respond in a way that respects my boundaries and energy. In this episode we discuss:1) The duality of emotions that we all carry every single day. For years I would swing back and forth in between the highs and lows, almost letting the highs be too high and the lows be too low. I have learned how to become more neutral in my energy and reactions. Since the stories only have the meaning we give it, this is the same message. 2) I wanted to share the concept of learning to hold more yet not carry it. When we hold the energy, emotions and our meaning or perception of these emotions, we are allowing ourselves to continue to grow. When we carry all of it and let it weigh us down, it can become a heaviness that actually holds us down and keeps us stuck, because we lose that line of what is ours to carry. 3) When we carry things that aren't ours to carry, one of two things happens. We deplete ourselves of all of the energy that we can be using to create change in our lives. Secondly, when we carry the emotions of others, we are not allowing them to carry it and that leads to nothing changing. 4) Picture carrying a backpack and take a really close look as to what is in that backpack and ask yourself if you are carrying things that aren't yours to carry? From guilt, shame, frustration, judgment, fear, or whatever negative emotions you are carrying, it is affecting your ability to create change in your life. In this episode, I want to share some thoughts on the difference between standing IN vs standing ON your story. This is a powerful shift that I learned a number of years ago and I am so grateful to share it with you today in hopes that it will inspire a shift in your story and journey. In this episode we discuss:1) What does it mean to stand IN your story, how you show up, where your energy goes, and how you may be feeling perpetually stuck in your story and not feeling any hope for change. I also share the difference of standing ON your story and a few key shifts for how you can make that happen, even if it feels like you can't, I promise you you can. 2) The role of shame, secrecy, armour and fear of judgement in you feeling stuck inside your story and a few things you can do to shift that. 3) The ripple effect and how it can be way bigger than you could ever imagine, and how actually your pain (when you choose to face it to change it) can actually become part of your purpose. In the 4th part of this series on values we are going to look at the gaps of what you say is important, if it truly is and how to bridge the gap. It's not about picking the core values that “sound good or make you look good”, it is about picking the core values that are actually who you are at the core. This is how we set ourselves up for success especially when it comes down to making decisions in our life and business. Our core values define who you are, what you stand for and if you actually walk your talk. Your limiting beliefs determine if you actually live by those core values. Our negative core beliefs are incredibly important and powerful in creating our limitations and ultimately our reality. In this episode we discuss: 1) As we increase our self-awareness to understand and live in our core values, we may identify a number of our own negative core beliefs and can often link them to our experiences. They can usually, however, be distilled down to two common examples: I am not good enough or worthy, or I am broken and this is what I deserve. Once these core beliefs are formed, they bed in. The human mind likes, above most things, to be right. We spend time looking for evidence in all situations that supports them. We reinforce them over and over. If we have spent our life believing in these limitations, our subconscious mind will constantly search everywhere for proof of these beliefs. 2) Re-writing our core values must include changing these limiting beliefs. Address them, call them out, painting the grim picture of what it looks like if you don't change these limiting beliefs for months, or years. Who do you not help? What gifts do you not use? What is your level of fulfillment? Then asking if you are ready to change these limiting beliefs and then re-writing these beliefs in a new format. 3) Looking at your core values, what does it feel like in your cells as you look at these words? What emotions does it bring up? What is your belief level of bringing these visions to life and living by your core values? 4) Rewriting your limiting beliefs as mantras, and surrounding yourself with them everywhere. If this is completely new for you, give yourself some grace and compassion and set yourself up for success. Rewriting these core values in a script format is how it all changes. In this episode I wanted to share a simple concept that I learned from another coach that hit home. It all comes down to the HOW, and wanting to have the perfect plan in place before we start anything. 1) The how is irrelevant. We only ever learn the how in reverse. Try to think of one time in your life when the “how” was shown to you beforehand and you followed that roadmap to a T and it worked out perfectly. 2) The how is only seen in reverse, in hindsight and we know hindsight is 20/20. We are never meant to see the how ahead of time. We are responsible for seeing and owning the vision of what we want to create and then allowing ourselves to get into action to create and bring that vision to life. 3) The how is actually in the now. It is created by trying, taking an action step, falling down, course correcting, starting over and applying those lessons learned to the next step. We are creating the how as we go. 4) We may learn tools and tips from other coaches about how their how worked, and it can be a shortcut for us in some way shape or form, but they can't give us our roadmap. They can help us to see what's possible and help us uncover what is blocking us from seeing our own how, but it is not their job to give it to us. It is ours to create. In the 3rd part of this series on values we are going to break down the word values, core values and see how this pertains to our life and business. The first episode focused on what core values and helped you to identify them in your life. The second episode dove into are those core values in alignment in your life? Instead of looking outward at people, programs or comparison for what everyone else is doing for alignment, it starts with looking inward. In this episode we will be discussing how your life is a representation of the core values that you say are important to you and looking for the gaps. We will also be talking about the things that you might not be recognizing such as expectations, standards and the boundaries that might be missing to solidify these core values in your life. In this episode we discuss: 1) Identifying the gaps, and what is blocking you from living a life in alignment with your core values. 2) The difference between expectations and standards. Expectations are living in the future and are based on things you can't control or predict. Standards are what you can control, and those are based on decisions you make every single day. 3) Where can you raise your standards? Raise your standards for what you do, say yes or no to every single day. How can you raise your boundaries, give back to yourself, listen to what you need and receive all that is available for you? Raising your standards allows you to plan out your life accordingly to set yourself up for success. If you want a deeper understanding of standards and expectations, listen the Episode #122 Raise Your Standards Not Your Expectations, https://apple.co/32c6zaG 4) Boundaries are a moving line, like a bubble. Not a hard line in the sand with no negotiating and also recognizing that this changes every single day. If you find that your self-care practices are low, your stress is high, I guarantee your boundaries will be the next thing affected. Catch this before it happens and unravels. In this episode, I am diving into my understanding and lessons about the energy of worrying. According to Psychology Today, “Worry tends to be more focused on thoughts in our heads, while anxiety is more visceral in that we feel it through our bodies. Our thoughts create our reality, and the continuous response and energy of worry is putting visceral stress on our bodies, so if we can change our thoughts we can manage, shift or change what is happening inside of our bodies. Thoughts of worrying are all future based, focused on things we can't control, and blocking us from how we can control our present circumstances. It is an avoidance of energy and actually a waste of our own energy, which is the only resource we have to create change in our lives. 1) Worrying is a habit. It is a response, a learned response to post-traumatic stress. It also comes from avoiding doing the healing work that our nervous systems require. It is living in the future, creating a false sense of belief of control and not living in the present moment. Sometimes the present moment is too difficult or painful to live in, so we avoid it. We use our energy to relive the past or try to control the future. 2) Healing requires focus on the present moment, what we need to be our best selves and honouring what we need, including the boundaries that we may be missing. Look at what the triggers are, phone/screen use, lack of sleep, stimulants, people, social media, and take radical responsibility to change one small thing at a time. 3) On one side of the paper, write down all of the things you are currently worried about. The things that are taking up your energy, mindset or thoughts all day long. Don't edit this list, brain dump it out with no judgement. Then on the other side of the page check mark the things you can control and then put the two numbers into perspective. Now script out the sentences that shift your thinking or are the exact opposite of what you are worried about. 4) The act of deep breathing (also called diaphragmatic breathing) is a practice that enables more air to flow into your body and can help to calm your nerves, reducing stress and anxiety. This can help your focus, attention span, nervous system, and help to promote healing. This takes work, but start with recognizing where these emotions are starting from. In this series we are going to break down the word values, core values and see how this pertains to our life and business. A value is simply a way of being or believing that we hold important. (Brene Brown). Living into our values means that we do more than profess our values, we practice them. We walk our talk - we are clear about what we believe and hold important and we take care that our intentions, our words, thoughts, and behaviours align with those beliefs. Without having a knowledge or understanding of our core values, we are not making decisions from a grounded position of knowing ourselves and what is important to us. Sharing my own personal story of values, learning and understanding them and using them as the basis for major and minor decisions in our life. In this second episode we are looking more closely into the core value words that speak to you. In this episode we discuss:1) Values are individual beliefs that motivate people to act one way or another. They guide our human behaviour, choices and decisions. Not right or wrong, just a clarification of what drives us and what we hold most important. 2) Speaking of alignment…. Looking external instead of internal by knowing yourself. This is about choosing words that speak to you, that are important to you as a person. Now comes the harder part, looking at what you say is important for you, and asking yourself the hard questions of, “am I living in alignment within myself with what I say is important in my life?”. For example, if you have core values that you are not aligned to, yet you say they are important, you are already in a disconnect. Saying health is important, but not eating to nourish your body, drinking water or moving your body; or self-worth, but deep down you don't feel worthy; trust but surrounding yourself with people you don't trust or respect…you get the picture. 3) Don't look for alignment externally, it all starts internally. Ask yourself the hard questions, why did you pick these words, are they your words, what is missing for you to live by them, what boundaries are missing and where are you out of alignment? 4) What would life look like if you were living by your core values? What would have to change? Let your mind be open to the vision of what that would look like. Remember you are the master of your thoughts, and everything we do originates from our thoughts and beliefs, so this is where the work starts. In this episode, I want to share some thoughts on comparison and what it is doing to us in our lives and in our business. In this time of building our businesses online, especially this year when so many people are having to continue to pivot, shift, change or completely reinvent themselves in an unknown territory, it is too easy to stop and compare your “progress” to someone else's “perceived progress”. Comparison is the biggest block in your progress, and you are the one who keeps putting that roadblock up. So much of my understanding of comparison comes from my learnings from Brene Brown, and her book “Atlas of the Heart” is incredible. In this episode we discuss:1) Comparison is a creativity killer. “Comparison is the crush of conformity from one side and competition from the other - it is trying to simultaneously fit in and stand out.” It is saying, be like everyone else, but only better. ~ Brene Brown. There is upwards and downwards comparison and both are equally blocking in our movement and success. Social comparisons (up or down), make us feel less than, not worthy or better than or superior. All of the energy leads to the negative emotions of lack and lack of worthiness, fear, shame, anger, and sadness. No change is created in this energy space. 2) Comparison is the thief of joy ~Theodore Roosevelt . As soon as we fall into comparison to others, we are taking our eyes off of our own journey. We are losing sight of our own gifts, our own journey and what we are capable of creating. We also are comparing our chapter X to someone else's unknown chapter. When we think we know someone else's story, I promise that we don't. Think of all of the things on your own journey that you don't share with the world. 3) The energy of comparison actually messes with our own perspective. It takes it all out of context. It starts with awareness and recognizing the emotions that drive us into that space in the first place. Celebrating another person's success does not take away from your own, it actually is celebrating that another person is showing you what is possible. If someone is triggering you in a toxic way that affects your energy, then mute or unfollow. 4) Find the people who trigger you showing what is possible. The ones who expand you, and learn from them. Compare yourself to past versions of yourself and find ways to honour, love and support your younger version who fought like hell to get you here. In this episode, I am sharing an interview with Brand Expert, Content Strategist, and Storyteller, Jennifer Yassen. Jennifer and I connected in a mastermind in early 2021, and I loved how she helped brands and entrepreneurs to use their stories to build their brands. We connected multiple times over the past few months in live coaching calls, webinars, masterclasses and now a mastermind starting in January called Your Story Makes Your Brand. Together we are helping entrepreneurs unpack or unlock their story to gain clarity in their messaging to attract and connect with their ideal audience to grow their brand. This mastermind will include 1-1 support, a max of 5 people at one time so that we can dive into supporting you in your business. Join us for the Your Story Makes Your Brand Mastermind starting in January 2022 with incredible bonuses. Today we wanted to dive into how strategy isn't enough to build a business. In today's episode we discuss: 1) So many coaches spend thousands of dollars on trying to learn the how or the strategies to build their business, when it starts to become clear that without the belief or mindset that you see it as being possible to grow your business, then the strategy doesn't matter. 2) Also how so many coaches want to explode their brand as they continue to compare themselves to others in the online space, yet if they don't have a clear picture of what their brand is, or how to brand themselves, since you are always your brand, then it doesn't matter. You come first, you are the brand and the heart and soul of your business.
