We're drinking beers our friends ABV Chicago brought us in exchange for some locals while they were in town! We kick this episode off with Hop Butcher for the World's Green Moss and it makes us think about getting a flavor wheel again. Nick tells a story about food poisoning and not being smart. Alex got some Venmo's for pride and we talk about the Fueled Family Reunion happening 7/17. Nick and Alex recap their weekends including Old Thunder and Four Points and a highlight meeting the Bridge City Brinery crew and the legend of the banana ketchup. After we talk about food trucks we roll into beer #2: Phase Three's Pixel Density Lite. Alex ran into Aadam Soorma and revisited his Goldmark experience before telling Nick about his experience with 2 Frays Brewing in Garfield. We share our appreciation for being at the bar and the service industry handling it as good as they can. From there, we're on to beer #3 which is a wild collab between Half Acre and Morton Salt called It Pours. This one was WILD and we both felt the same about it. Shawn co-founded a unique character design studio, Shawnimals—created with his wife over 10 years ago. Hundreds of characters inhabit those worlds and live through toys, murals, and videogames. The ninjas from Ninjatown transformed from handmade plush toys to vinyl creations, posters, stickers, calendars, keychains, and mobile apps. He grew up admiring Japanese and American pop-culture, with a passion that morphed from early doodles to characters like the Wee Ninja from Ninjatown, Moustachios, Pocket Pork Dumplings, and many, many more. His designer toys have seen success with Kidrobot and Rotofugi, apparel with Mimoco, David and Goliath, and Smash Transit. Shwan created original art for companies like MailChimp, Basecamp, LiveNation, Twisted Hyppo, Dark Matter Coffee, Cards Against Humanity, Revolution Brewing, and others—not to mention comics, and video games for Nintendo, iOS, and Android.

Collaborations o'plenty this episode. We grabbed all of the bottles we could here locally to bring you a collab trifecta. We've got beers from all over the state... or mostly, from the North of the state. To open our show we talk about, Double O Session IPA from Sun King Brewery out of Indianapolis and Revolution Brewing out of Chicago. Session IPA is a very apt description and each brewery was able to maintain their identity in this beer while the marriage of the two brought out a very distinct taste. That beer is promptly and professionally followed by a joint effort from Deviate Brewing and Black Acre Brewing both out of Indiana. This Quadruple IPA is named, Hop Lunacy and for very good reason. This one is a "right of passage" type IPA and probably tastes like nothing you've had before. This episode is finished off with a collaboration between 3 Floyds Brewing and Dark Matter Coffee out of Chicago. The Mastodon Crack The Skye is a very good beer, but this beer caused some argument among the group.Sit back and enjoy what may be our most beer centered beer podcast ever. "Scar tissue is stronger than regular tissue. Realize the strength, move on." - Henry Rollins General Admission is back with a new season! We've got so much planned for you guys so get those headphone ready, subscribe and share. For our first official episode back Don sits down with singer and storytelling powerhouse Henry Rollins and Chicago rock venue legend Joe Shanahan. Shanahan is the owner of Metro, a venue anchored within the Chicago music scene. In this episode you'll hear a discussion surrounding the relationship between bands and the venues that house them. Henry talks how his band needed venues like The Metro in order to make enough money for a Denny's Grand Slam breakfast and gas to make it to the next gig. Places like the Metro also need the bands and musicians so they can keep the lights on. It's a symbiotic relationship. This interview is part of an ongoing series of intimate conversation to be held at the Metro and sponsored by Dark Matter Coffee and Shure.
