In this episode, I am joined by Author, Editor, publisher, showman, and Bizarro Writers Association Pres Michael Allen Rose. We are gathered here today to talk about his amazing new anthology Fragile. A collection of stories by various authors all starting with the same prompt. Fragile features lots of authors I love from Laura Lee Bahr, Garrett Cook, Brian Keene, Mykle Hansen, and Emma Johnson to name a few. Michael Allen Rose had a fun concept, but what is cool is how hard he is working to boost up all the authors involved. We talk about Michael's background, his personal books, and how Fragile came together.

Emma Johnson is a mother to three young children and the convener of Women's Circles where is drawn to, and feels really able to connect with, those women who have found motherhood to be like falling off a cliff. Today she shares her personal journey of rediscovering herself after the loss of her sister and the challenges of motherhood. She delves into the concept of holding space for others, and how it can be a powerful tool in the healing process. Emma also talks about the importance of resilience and happiness in the face of grief and adversity. Join us as we explore the theme of turning 40 and the journey of grief recovery with Emma Johnson.Guest BioEmma believes deeply in the power of the female voices and stories, and in creating beautiful spaces for women to come together, to find sanctuary and soulful connection as often as they need it. She runs in-person and online circles as The Wild Circle, bringing women together for regular moments of ritual, reflection and connection, with a focus on returning to nature and connecting with our inner wildness. She says: "I believe we all need a space that we can rely on, where we can come as we are, and be met in that place. Women are deeply rooted in nature - the more we connect with our wildness, the more we root ourselves to the earth, the more we can truly connect to ourselves and each other.” She has a Masters in English and Postmodernism, traveled around the world by herself at age 18, has walked on fire, is a mother of three and lives in the Cotswolds in the UK, with her husband, children, three cats and three chickens.Show NotesIn this episode, Stephanie sits down with Emma Johnson to talk about the challenges of motherhood, loss, and rebuilding oneself. Emma shares her personal experience of going through postnatal depression and anxiety, as well as losing her sister suddenly, and how she found resilience and happiness through the process.Emma also talks about her work with moms who have gone through similar experiences. She shares her perspective on the grief of motherhood and how it can be a process of refining oneself, letting go of certain parts of one's identity, and building a new and better life. The conversation also touches on the concept of "holding space" for others, and how it can be a powerful way to support and protect people as they share their feelings and struggles. Emma explains how it's not about changing or influencing others, but rather creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for them to share and process their thoughts and emotions.Throughout the conversation, Emma emphasizes the importance of self-discovery and self-awareness, and how it can lead to greater happiness and resilience as we age. Emma reflects on how she is happier and more fulfilled now than ever before, and encourages listeners to embrace the aging process and all that it has to offer.Key Takeaways:Nearly all mothers feel like they have fallen off a cliff after becoming a mother, but it's not talked about. The process of rebuilding oneself after motherhood and loss is challenging but necessary.Acknowledging that one's life will never come back in the way it was expected and building a new one can lead to a happier and more fulfilled life.Taking time to fully grieve and process loss is important for one's mental and emotional well-being.Holding space means creating a safe and solid environment where people can share their feelings, fears and pain without being judged or influenced.SponsorThe Forty Drinks Podcast is produced and presented by Savoir Faire Marketing/CommunicationAdditional ResourcesThe Wild...

Created with an all-female cast and creative team, comprised of members of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. Follow the journey of a woman, brave, broken and not alone. A moving insight into the reality for many women."  "We are working in collaboration with Women's Solace Aid, who are offering a ‘Safety in Society' workshop for anyone that is affected by the messages of the play."Running time: 1 hour approx. | Age restriction: 16+Annabel and Hester told me about how they started in drama and about taking the play to the Edinburgh Fringe. Zip It at stage@leeds event tickets from TicketSource https://twitter.com/ZipItPlay https://www.instagram.com/zipittheplay/Contact: Zipittheplay@gmail.com The featured track on this episode is the beautiful "Worry Not" by Emma Johnson's Gravy Boat - recorded by Good Boy Live Sessions at Northern Monk Refectory, Leeds Emma says: ‘A lot of the most brilliant people (and especially women) that I know spend inordinate amounts of time worrying. The most literate, incredible, wise people I know regularly voice worries about having said something silly after a couple of drinks, about having not replied entirely politely to a rude comment, about things that are beyond their control, about all sorts that they are far too fantastic to spend their moments worrying about. This album is about those little niggling worries, and is for these brilliant people. Written after a house flood and on the brink of the pandemic, the album (and the year awaiting it's creation) encapsulate a process of having worries, acknowledging and dealing with them, and allowing them to wash away.
