Well we've made it 450 episodes without our eyes melting out of our heads so that must indicate some supernatural influence on the podcast… As an offering to the androgynous Outer Gods, we go way out of our comfort zone and discuss the universally-beloved GHOSTBUSTERS (1984), in which a group of out-of-work scientists almost blow up NYC while an Eric Stolz lookalike just tries to do his job. That's the plot of this one, right? Oh and there's Rick Moranis so you can't go wrong. Happy 9 years to us! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Back to the Future (1985) is nagenoeg onaanraakbaar. Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 69th episode of "VideoFuzzy," reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 2,900 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Belligerent Optimism," comments on "Grey's Anatomy" segue into overarching themes, and in milestone news, as of this episode I've cataloged Disc 1000 in my Classic Collection! I posted a "throwback Thursday" pic on my VideoFuzzy Facebook page of me and that disc from when I first burned it in April 2009 to when I finally cataloged it last month. Check it out! In Corrections, the release date on the next James Bond, "No Time to Die," has been pushed to next year sometime. Also, I admit to cultural appropriation at times in this production, slipping into voice and characters in my podcast, impressions and other instances. I try to limit the inappropriateness of these instances, but I am aware of them, and if something sounds wrong, please contact me. I'm always trying to do better. In Old Business, I wanted to highlight and celebrate other aspects of comedian Sarah Silverman's work, and wish her a happy 50th in December. In my Friday Night Feature, I find a strong episode of "Grey's Anatomy" on disc 976, centered on a death row inmate who is expressing contrition and a wish that his organs, scheduled for termination at the hand of the state, save a young boy in need of a liver transplant. I pulled up a past episode for some background on the story arcs this fifth-season episode, "Stairway to Heaven," resolves, closing on a stark realization for Izzy Stevens in hallucinating her late boyfriend Denny Duquette. In cross connections, I am struck by how the realities of cancer have touched, darkened, textured and destroyed lives of patients, survivors, friends and families throughout human history. My show title is from an interview by late Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who succumbed to cancer recently. I noted several storylines I'd traced in discs from this set like "Grey's Anatomy," "Nip/Tuck" and "Battlestar Galactica" and other shows in my collection, together with such high-profile losses of Ginsburg, Gwen Ifill, Richard Hatch, Eddie Van Halen and Diana Rigg. In more conventional cross connections, I look at Eric Stolz in "Grey's Anatomy," Dina Meyer in "Nip/Tuck," Gena Rowlands and Marc Vann in "Monk," Andy Richter in "Bones," Danny Strong in "Leverage," Maggie Siff in ABC's "Life on Mars" reboot, Mira Sorvino and Omar Sharif in NBC miniseries "The Last Templar," Tom Irwin in "24" and "LOST," and oh WOW there were just a ton of cross-connections in the office dramedy "Trust Me," including Eric McCormick, Tom Cavanaugh, Tim Russ, Jason O'Mara, Adam Scott, Monica Potter, Griffon Dunn and Rhea Seehorn. I close out by tracing a Golden Thread on Chase Kim, appearing in my recording of "Leverage" on disc 1000. In my classic VHS-to-DVD collection, comments on an episode of "Fringe" open onto a Fond Reflection on the recent passing of Diana Rigg. On a related note, a fan posted this video celebrating the vivacious Mrs. Emma Peel. Also, I've archived a recording from the inauguration of Barack Obama across four discs, with comments on the season 4 finale of "The West Wing," "Battlestar Galactica," "Nip/Tuck" and "South Park," Fox Movie Channel's presentation of "Looking for Richard," and the Turner Classic Movies presentation of "Annie Hall." In my Current direct-to-DVD recordings, comments on "Fargo," "Archer," Syfy's presentation of "Dead Still," IFC's presentation of "Eyes Wide Shut" and the Sundance presentation of "The Green Mile." Plus I trace the rather eye-popping body of work by actor Steven Tobolowsky. Finally, I have updated my Facebook and podcast page to include a "top ten" episode guide for people looking for a quick read-in on this blog and podcast effort. Enjoy!

Soon to follow was a starring role in Chris Menaul's Emmy-award winning Showtime Original Feature, "The Passion of Ayn Rand", as the doe-eyed ingénue who thwarts the celebrated author philosopher's affair with a protégé. The film, which premiered at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival, also stars Helen Mirren, Peter Fonda, Julie Delpy and Eric Stolz. Moving back to the big screen and over to studio pictures, Sybil next went on to star opposite Amanda Peet, Jerry O'Connell and Tara Reid in New Line Cinema's "Body Shots". Viewers and critics alike praised Sybil for her portrayal, which "suggests enough complexity to merit a longer story of her own." (Variety) Returning once again to independent film in the leading role of Allison, Sybil starred opposite Jami Gertz, in the dark comedy, "Lip Service" (a.k.a. Kat and Allison). Next, Sybil starred opposite Skeet Ulrich in the ABC series, "Miracles", which began airing in January 2003 and soon after starred in Steven Bochco's HBO series "Marriage". She can also be seen in Sony Pictures' release of "The Cavern". And getting back to her roots of producing, Sybil wrote, produced, and starred in the short film, "Piece A' Cake", which was invited to make its world premiere at the American Cinematheque's Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles. "Piece A' Cake" reunited Sybil with its award winning director, Dean Pollack. Podcast Audience!  You gotta come back with us!  Where you ask?..BACK TO THE FUTURE!  This week, in honor of Back to the Future Day 2016 (October 21st-The Day Marty and Doc land in the future) we decided to take a look back at the franchise that introduced us to hover boards, self lacing Nikes, and Donald Trump....I mean Biff Tannen.  So grab your Gray's Sports Almanac and refuel your Mr. Fusion as we gun this podcast up to 88mph and explore the world of Back to the Future!   Movie News! Tommy Wiseau, Director of cult classic, The Room to star in new film, Best F(r)iends The Back to the Future Trilogy (1985, 1989, 1990) Back to the Future (1985) Written by both Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale and centered on the idea of "what if you could go back and see what your parents were like as teenagers."    No studio wanted this film. Disney did show interest until they saw certain incestual tones in the screenplay (ie. Marty and Lorraine McFly). Zemeckis directed Romancing the Stone which was a huge success and ultimately led to his directing Back to the Future. Eric Stolz originally was cast as Marty McFly. However, Stoltz portrayed a very morose Marty that ultimately was counter to the vision that Gale and Zemeckis had. Michael J. Fox was brought in and brought a lighter and comedic tone to the character of Marty. The shooting schedule was grueling for Fox who would shoot Back to the Future at night and Family Ties during the day. Back to the Future-Take Aways Film is more about George McFly's transition from doormat to self confidence rather than Marty's journey. One of the biggest issues with the film is that it creates plot points for Marty yet fails to deliver. Marty never is shown gaining the confidence to send in his demo to the record company. Robert Zemeckis is not that great at diversity. Mayor Goldie Wilson is a corrupt politician. Rock and Roll is gifted to Chuck Berry by Marty McFly. Back to the Future: Part II (1989) Centers on Doc and Marty travelling 15 years into the future to stop an incident from occurring with Marty's kids that would destroy his family.  Ultimately, they are success and create a secondary plot in which future Biff steals the time machine and changes the past and creates a dystopian 1985. Cartoon version of the original film. Relies on goofy future tech and style as well as a goofy Donald Trump-esque dystopian present. Light on plot. Does the job that a sequel should do by expanding the mythos of the original. Plot starts to focus more on Marty and the repercussions of his short temper. This movie is full of plot holes- See John's extensive list at 52:17 Plot holes can be resolved with the application "SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF." Also, IT'S A FUCKING TIME TRAVEL MOVIE. Back to the Future: Part III (1990) Dumbest of the three. The plot centers on Marty and Doc Brown being stuck in the old west after the events of the 2nd film and their journey to get back to 1985 before Mad Dog Tannen, an ancestor of Biff's, shoots and murders Doc over a matter of 80 dollars. Secondary plot, deals with Doc falling in love with school teacher, Clara Clayton. The time machine is ultimately destroyed after Marty makes it back to 1985.  Doc Brown stays in 1885 with Clara. Doc Brown then comes back from 1885 with a brand new time machine made out of a train----which is completely counter to his "I should have never invented that infernal time machine" logic. The guess is that this was tacked on to lead into the Back to the Future cartoon. Final Thoughts First film is a near flawless movie. Sequels are ok, but not great and definitely do not hold up nearly as well as the original film.

Episode 39 is about a giant snake movie. There, we said it. Anaconda is a 1997 nature-run-amock movie starring J-Lo, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stolz (for a few minutes), Owen Wilson and a few “Red Shirts”. Oh, and don’t forget a giant, shrieking snake! How much weed did certain cast members smoke on set? All of it! Would Ice T do a better job than Ice Cube? Would a sock puppet do a better job than the mechanical snake? Are Jon Voight’s powers drawn from his scowly accent? Did J-Lo’s butt get a producer credit? The answers to these and many more questions are in this episode! Let us axe you sumpthin’….are you ready for the esophagus cam? Are you able to handle a barfed-up bait monkey?
