With tariff headlines changing by the day, it's tempting to react—but that could be a costly mistake. We'll break down why chasing policy noise is a fool's game, why our stance at Henssler remains grounded in facts not forecasts, and how our Henssler Ten Year Rule is designed to help you ride out this kind of manufactured volatility. Despite ongoing uncertainty and speculation about a potential slowdown, the hard economic data remains resilient. We break down the latest economic reports, including the Consumer Price Index, the Federal Reserve's March meeting minutes, the Producer Price Index, and recent consumer sentiment readings. After the break, K.C. brings together his two favorite topics: college sports and finance. Nico Iamaleava was essentially forced off the University of Tennessee's football team over a dispute tied to an NIL agreement. He potentially lost millions before ever seeing a dime—which begs the question: what kind of financial advice was he getting? We explore why having the right team around you—financially and personally—is more important than ever. Whether you're an athlete, a business owner, or just trying to make smart money moves, this conversation matters.Join hosts Nick Antonucci, CVA, CEPA, Director of Research, and Managing Associates K.C. Smith, CFP®, CEPA, and D.J. Barker, CWS®, and Kelly-Lynne Scalice on Henssler Money Talks as they explore key financial strategies to help investors navigate market uncertainty.Henssler Money Talks — April 19, 2025  |  Season 39, Episode 16Timestamps and Chapters3:02: Chasing Policy Noise is a Fool's Game21:57: Market Update: CPI, Fed Minutes, PPI, and Consumer Sentiment37:18: Financial Lessons from NCAA and NIL Agreements Follow Henssler:  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HensslerFinancial/ YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/c/HensslerFinancial LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/henssler-financial/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hensslerfinancial/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@hensslerfinancial?lang=en X: https://www.x.com/hensslergroup  “Henssler Money Talks” is brought to you by Henssler Financial. Smith, CFP®, CEPA, and D.J. Barker, CWS®, welcome Matthew Reed, CPA/ABV, a Tax Director with Henssler CPAs & Advisers, to discuss the benefits of having your financial adviser and CPA collaborate throughout the year to effectively manage your tax situation. The hosts and Matthew also break down a strategy session that K.C. and Matthew conducted for clients facing a key tax decision. The investors could either delay paying taxes until they withdrew their required minimum distributions—potentially resulting in higher lifetime taxes—or pay taxes now by converting funds to a Roth IRA, thereby reducing their lifetime tax liability and potentially increasing their overall portfolio growth.Timestamps and Chapters5:50: Market Returns, Earnings Season, and Fed Minutes15:54: Financial and Tax Advisers: Working in Concert37:14: Punt Taxes or Pay Taxes54:25: Future of the Tax Cuts and Jobs ActFollow Henssler:  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HensslerFinancial/ YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/c/HensslerFinancial LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/henssler-financial/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hensslerfinancial/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@hensslerfinancial?lang=en X: https://www.x.com/hensslergroup  “Money Talks” is brought to you by Henssler Financial. December's Fed Minutes released yesterday revealed that FOMC members believe that upside risks to their inflation outlook have increased and that incoming President Trump's policies likely will not help matters. Neither US nor European data releases helped stocks yesterday. European markets had a mixed Wednesday with indices up or down in the order of half a percent. US stocks also struggled for direction ahead of today's market closure for President Jimmy Carter's funeral. China's overnight inflation data seemed to confirm that Beijing's stimulus efforts aren't reviving demand yet. Bond market prices continued to fall with new record highs being set in longer-dated yields from the US to the UK. With the Federal Reserve cutting rates by 50 basis points at its September meeting, what are the implications for the bond market and the economy? In this episode, Kathy Jones and Liz Ann Sonders analyze the market's reaction to the rate cut, the balance between panic and greed in investment strategies, and the upcoming economic indicators that could influence market movements. Their discussion highlights the importance of understanding labor market trends and consumer sentiment in the context of inflation and economic policy. This week, Kathy sits down with Claudia Sahm, a former economist for the Federal Reserve and the White House Council of Economic Advisors. Perhaps best known for the recession indicator that bears her name, Claudia Sahm is now the chief economist for New Century Advisors.Kathy and Claudia discuss the labor market, highlighting its resilience and the need for a sustainable expansion. The discussion moves on to inflation, with Claudia explaining that recent inflation has been driven by supply-side shocks rather than demand. In this episode, Nik brings us a global macro update to recap a most dramatic downward revision in labor statistics. He begins with the two most noteworthy items in economics: the downward revision of jobs added by almost one million, the rampant manipulation of labor statistics by the government, and the latest FOMC minutes which stated that the Fed was close to cutting rates in July. Nik breaks down the signals from the yield curve and discusses bitcoin's consolidation. The Bitcoin Layer is a bitcoin and global macroeconomic research firm. Fed Minutes Reveal Slow Progress on Inflation, Mixed Economic Signals

AURN News

(AURN News) — The Federal Reserve's recently released minutes from its June Federal Open Market Committee meeting paint a picture of modest progress in the fight against inflation, coupled with a robust stock market and varied credit conditions across different sectors of the economy. The information found in the minutes is extremely important as they provide insight into the decision-making process that has gone into how to deal with the major inflation the country has seen for years now.  The minutes show that while financial markets have shown some improvement, particularly in equity prices, overall progress in curbing inflation has been limited. "Financial conditions eased modestly over the intermeeting period mainly because of higher equity prices," the minutes stated, noting that conditions have changed little since March but eased notably since last fall. Stock markets have performed well, with the Fed noting “broad stock price indexes increased substantially, on net, amid a positive investor outlook on corporate profits and economic activity," according to the minutes. Corporate borrowing remains strong, with the Fed saying that “financing was readily accessible for public corporations and large and middle-market private corporations through capital markets and nonbank lenders." However, the situation differs for average consumers. The minutes reported that “consumer credit remained generally available over the intermeeting period despite some signs of tightening. In the residential mortgage market, access to credit was little changed and continued to depend on borrowers' credit risk attributes.” Looking ahead, the committee projects that inflation will "decline further in 2025 and 2026," with expectations that both total and core PCE price inflation will approach 2 percent by 2026. Committee members acknowledged the lack of substantial progress in recent months, stating, "After a significant decline in inflation during the second half of 2023, the early part of this year had seen a lack of further progress toward the Committee's 2 percent objective. Participants judged that although inflation remained elevated, there had been modest further progress toward the 2 percent goal in recent months." The major takeaway from the Fed's notes is that we may need to brace for continued inflation issues through next year and potentially into 2026. Learn more about your ad choices. Fed Minutes Show Inflation Battle Dragging On Longer Than Expected

(AURN News) - The Federal Reserve remains locked in an intense battle against stubbornly high inflation, with policymakers signaling the road ahead will be longer and bumpier than previously anticipated, according to minutes from their latest Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting released Wednesday.  "Domestic data releases over the intermeeting period pointed to inflation being more persistent than previously expected and to a generally resilient economy," the minutes indicated. While overall inflation has eased over the past year, the minutes also reveal concerns that progress has stalled recently. Consumer prices, as measured by the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) index, "slowed significantly over the past year but had moved up slightly in recent months,” according to the minutes.  The FOMC also indicated in their meeting that inflation remained stubborn when it comes to both goods and services. "Participants observed that while inflation had eased over the past year, in recent months there had been a lack of further progress toward the Committee's 2 percent objective. The recent monthly data had showed significant increases in components of both goods and services price inflation," the minutes said.  Policymakers also voiced worries about inflation's continued financial impacts, noting, "Participants generally commented that they remained highly attentive to inflation risks. They also remained concerned that elevated inflation continued to harm the purchasing power of households, especially those least able to meet the higher cost," the notes said.  "Participants noted that they continued to expect that inflation would return to two percent over the medium term. However, recent data had not increased their confidence in progress toward two percent and, accordingly, had suggested that the disinflation process would likely take longer than previously thought."  While the Fed has indicated some progress, we are now learning that inflation is a tougher foe than expected.  Learn more about your ad choices.
