How is it that a product can be raced by a professional, in a professional event, and that the media aren't allowed to tell all? It's become a surprisingly common occurrence, and in this episode, you'll hear Ronan Mc Laughlin and Dave Rome explain how it all works. You'll also hear about Campagnolo's latest spotted new drivetrain, and why it likely spells a wider change to 13-speed. Also, Ronan and Dave discuss the new Cannondale Synapse and its rather confusing overlap with other bikes in Cannondale's range. The conversation then moves to cover other new products and industry news. Finally, Escape Collective members will hear our popular Ask a Wrench segment. This week, Ronan and Dave answer member-submitted questions related to their favourite Co2 inflator heads (and preferred alternatives), an update to the Classified two-speed hub system, and calibrating power meters. As a reminder, you'll need to be a member of Escape Collective (go here) in order to access this popular segment of the podcast. Eurobike is now in the rearview mirror and the buzz of the Tour continues to grow. In this week's Geek Warning episode you'll hear (without sound issues, horray!) a wrap-up from Eurobike, learn about Schwalbe's intriguing new Clik Valve, Canyon's Tempr shoes bring them into a new product category, and some bold claims from Parcours for the gravel race scene.Brad and Dave also discuss the latest Trek Top Fuel mountain bike and Dangerholm's incredible 5.89 kg (12.99 lb) hardtail. Plus you'll hear about the latest from Feedback Sports, DT Swiss, Manitou, and Shimano. The big conversation for this episode is all about the generally poor quality control of flat-mount brake mounts, and it warrants a language warning as Dave feels his anger grow. Seriously, a message to bike manufacturers and brands, it shouldn't be up to the local shop to fix this stuff!Escape Collective's podcasts are made possible by our members. On today's podcast, Tech Editor Jason Schroeder brings you a pulse check on the state of our beloved mountain bike industry. Last week, during the Sea Otter Classic, he chatted with some industry folks from Santa Cruz Bicycles, Maxxis Tires, Feedback Sports, Transition Bicycles, Industry Nine, Orbea, FSA Components, Trek Bicycles, Hunt Wheels, and Privateer Bikes. And asked one simple question: now that we are a few years past the COVID bike boom, what is the state of the industry? Are things good? Are they bad? And where do you see things going in the next 12-24 months? Here is what people had to say. :43 - Maxxis Tires 5:57 - Santa Cruz Bicycles8:21 - Trek Bicycles9:52 - Hunt Wheels17:00 Transition Bikes21:27 - Feedback Sports24:32 - FSA26:52 - Industry Nine32:11 - Orbea BikesMore Sea Otter content: https://www.vitalmtb.com/tags/sea_otter_classic_eventMore MTB news: https://www.vitalmtb.com/

Doug and Lisa Hudson have always been into cycling and outdoors. Just out of college, as he was travelling the country and living out of his van, Doug founded a company called Chrome Industries, which made mountain bike baggy shorts and gear. But this episode is not about Chrome Industries. In fact, later in his life, Doug had the idea for a specific bike scale, and his wife Lisa Hudson encouraged him to build it. The company Feedback Sports was born with this first product. Nowadays, Feedback Sports products are used by many of the best cycling teams in the world. The company has grown tremendously, but the same passion for cycling that Lisa and Doug Hudson had has not changed a bit. This is the story of two passionate cyclists and entrepreneurs, and how they built Feedback Sports.

In this episode of the Pursuit of the Perfect Race, I talk with my new friend Brent McMahon. Brent has been in the sport for more than 22 years. I have talked with a great amount of people on the podcast so far but none have had the experience that Brent has under his belt. There are only a handful of athletes in the world that can say they have been to the Olympics and received a medal and also competed in the IRONMAN© World Championship on the big island. Brent has been working with his coach Lance Watson for his athletic career. According to Lance’s website, [Lance] is “one of the most successful coaching track records in age group triathlon, internationally.” The race that we discuss is obvious but the challenges he faces and overcomes along the way are tremendous. Many athletes face hard and sometimes gut wrenching choices along their racing journey and this is no different for Brent. While we talk and discuss his race, I cannot help but to see his overwhelming gratitude for the ability to participate in the sport and how he enjoys the process of self-discovery along the way. Thank you so much Brent for spending time with me and I truly am honored to have you on my show. I look forward to having you back on my show again in the future and following you along your career. With Il Lombardia approaching, it's a great time for the VeloNews podcast to take a closer look at the final monument of the season. There's plenty to discuss: Newly crowned world champion Alejandro Valverde is hungry for his first win in the rainbow stripes, and riders like Thibaut Pinot and Mike Woods are eager to put their late-season form to good use. We pick a few favorites for Saturday's race. Plus, news director Spencer Powlison reports on his experience at the Oz Trails Off-Road. The final event in the Epic Rides series offered some great racing — and one heck of a prize purse — over the weekend. This episode is sponsored by Feedback Sports, which just unveiled its Range Torque Ratchet Combo wrench. This tool is all you need to correctly torque your bike's bolts and easily remove them without damaging the torque mechanism. Fresh out of college, Doug Hudson and a friend launched Chrome as a baggy mountain bike clothing brand. Nowadays, that brand's better known for their iconic messenger bags, which entered the line before Doug sold his share of the company and entered the corporate world. That didn't last long, though. His wife convinced him to stop talking about his idea for bike scales and just do it. Fast forward several years and Feedback Sports offers a complete range of bicycle repair and storage stands, a killer new line of tools and more. We talk about how he funded the launch of Chrome when he was barely away from the University of Florida (and more interested in skiing, surfing and riding than working), what his work experience for others taught him about running a company, and how he's grown Feedback Sports through smart design and timely acquisitions of other brands and products. Early on, the scales were successfully distributed through another Colorado company named Ultimate Bike Support, which Feedback Sports acquired in 2008 to add bicycle work stands and storage stands to the Feedback product mix.
