Apple makes a lot of gadgets. You've probably heard of some of them. Most of them are very good! Few companies in tech, or anywhere, can claim a track record as impressive and consistent as the folks in Cupertino. But only one Apple product can be the best Apple product. The Verge's Victoria Song and Allison Johnson join David to rank Apple's nine product categories — iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, AirPods, AirTags, HomePod, and Apple TV — in order of their best-ness. The gang agrees on a few, disagrees on a few, and gets in one argument that threatens to end the show forever. We want to hear what you think of our ranking! In this week’s edition of What the Hack!, Arthur Goldstuck shares with Lester Kiewit that he’s in Las Vegas for AWS re:Invent, where the spotlight is firmly on the next wave of AI, from custom models to factory-scale agents. He also reflects on last week’s Johannesburg launch of Canva’s South African expansion, where he spoke to Duncan Clark and Dr Mzamo Masito about going hyper-local. Arthur brings a quirky global story too, with Japan naming the Nissan Roox its Car of the Year and introducing listeners to the kei car concept. And for Gadget of the Week, he spotlights the Deebot X8 Pro Omni robot vacuum, a device designed to outsmart your mess. Good Morning Cape Town with Lester Kiewit is a podcast of the CapeTalk breakfast show. This programme is your authentic Cape Town wake-up call.

The B-29 Superfortress and the Battle of Omaha — Arthur Herman — Herman recounts the genesis of the B-29 Superfortress bomber, conceived after General Hap Arnold consulted with Charles Lindbergh in 1939. The B-29represented the ultimate expression of air supremacy doctrine, demanding revolutionary technologies including pressurized crew cabins and remote-controlled gun turrets that did not yet exist. Bill Knudsen directed the program, overcoming severe delays and persistent technical deficiencies. Knudsen won the "Battle of Omaha" by insisting that aircraft be extensively modified after assembly to achieve operational flight status, thereby integrating a massive female industrial workforce into B-29 production processes. 1945 LOS ALAMOS. Summary The conversation delves into the implications of recent legal decisions on gun rights, particularly focusing on the Bruin decision and its potential impact on ongoing cases. Mark Walters discusses the challenges faced in the judicial system, including the difficulty of getting cases to the Supreme Court and the influence of lower court judges appointed by previous administrations. Takeaways The Bruin decision has significant implications for gun rights. Winning cases in court is a challenging process. Less than 1% of filed cases reach the Supreme Court. Judicial stalling tactics are common in legal battles. Financial burdens are a strategy to deter legal action. Lower court judges may not uphold constitutional principles. The political landscape influences judicial decisions. The fight for gun rights is ongoing and complex. Legal strategies are essential for success in court.
