President Trump told reporters he might bomb Iranian oil facilities for the fun of it, Pete Hegseth is mad at the media for accurately reporting on the war, and the president is having trouble remembering his favorite catchphrases. Tony-winners Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez created an obscenity-riddled Broadway musical so funny that even the Mormon Church itself got in on the joke. GRAMMY-winner Andrew Rannells shares his personal recollections about auditioning for the role of Elder Price in the original Broadway production of “The Book of Mormon,” and says audiences never get upset by the spicy lyrics. In this interview Jimmy and Alex Jones discuss the assassination of Charlie Kirk, with Jones explaining why he's skeptical of certain theories about who killed Charlie pushed by Candace Owens—specifically the claims about Egyptian planes and Mitch Snow—while still firmly believing there is some sort of coverup about up the murder going on.  Jones clarifies he's not "compromised" by his billion-dollar Sandy Hook judgment, is still fighting in court, and simply refuses to endorse what he considers provably false information that discredits legitimate investigation.  In the face of all the inconsistencies and dubious explanations surrounding the dominant narrative, Jones acknowledges that Israel's threats against Charlie and his outspoken opposition to the Iran war make Israel a plausible suspect, but insists on following verifiable evidence rather than getting lost in rabbit holes. The conversation highlights the tension between Jones' history of skepticism toward government explanations and his current unwillingness to entertain ideas other podcasters have floated. Plus segments on Kanye West's accurate accusations against Jared Kushner and Iranian leaders dunking on Pete Hegseth.  Also featuring Kurt Metzger, Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. And a phone call from Al Pacino!

1. In Londinium, 92 AD, Gaius and Germanicus analyze the 21st-century conflict between a US-Israeli coalition and Iran, comparing its focus on supply chains to the 1941 oil sanctions against Japan. While the Americans expected a swift "four-day shock and awe"campaign and a leadership "decap strike" to force negotiations, Iran responded with asymmetrical warfare. By targeting the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has driven oil prices toward $120-$150 per barrel, threatening a global economic collapse. Germanicus critiques the American"siren song" of strategic bombing, noting it historically fails to win wars without ground occupation. Unlike the adaptive Romans who rose from defeat during the Punic Wars, modern US leaders—including Rubio, Vance, and Hegseth—are criticized for lacking dissenting voices and the historical perspective needed to reorganize after strategic failures. David Waldman celebrates our return on Monday the 16th after cutting up all weekend. Greg Dworkin asks, what have we done? Really? Is that the rule? Is that the goal now? We are about sick of winning and winning and winning our massive multiplayer war with Iran and just about everyone else in the world, though for some reason as our hit points go up, our health bar continues to shrink. The problem is those kind might not understand that they've lost until the mainstream media agrees to broadcast our victory dances. How many years will we have to win this thing before the world envies Trump as completely as he requires? Some suggest nukes are in order, yet few agree on where to drop them. Trump's domestic war of vengeance is going about as well, as grand juries keep refusing to charge those that the DOJ are targeting. Pete Hegseth's Fox drinking buddy Jeanine Pirro persecutes 90% of those in her path, it's not her fault no one wants to join in. On the other hand, Trump defense attorney John Lauro is sad about everyone treating his boss like a crook. What made Minnesota such a target, and what makes it a solution? Everyone should take notes. What lessons can we learn from last Tuesday's Texas primary? A New Jersey Republican is running against Trump. Democrats might get the courage to run against Bibi. It's an easy decision to run against tariffs. Jared Qushnar adds his own hustle to Middle East peace talks once he figured out that their peace was getting in the way of his profit.

Jeffrey Stern is an award-winning journalist and the author of five books, including his latest, The Warhead: The Quest to Build the Perfect Weapon in the Age of Modern Warfare. His reporting has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Vanity Fair, and The Atlantic. Stern shares his anger at how President Trump and Pete Hegseth are treating America's war with Iran as though it were a videogame or an action movie, rather than a matter of life and death. He reflects on his New York Times feature "From Arizona to Yemen: The Journey of an American Bomb," and what it means to know the real human beings who are killed and maimed when such weapons are used. Stern also explains why the engineers behind America's so-called "smart weapons" — the Paveway, the Tomahawk cruise missile, and other lethal technology — are not so easily caricatured as monsters. They see their work as saving lives and making the world safer. And Stern draws on his years as a war correspondent to offer hard-earned advice on maintaining our emotional health as we navigate the Age of Trump and this era of global tumult and dread. The Trump administration is preparing to deploy a Marine expeditionary unit to the Middle East along with more warships. But that development was not Hegseth's highest priority at his Pentagon briefing. His first order of business was attacking the media—even before mentioning the six fallen service members who were killed in a plane crash supporting the war in Iran. And while the administration may have finally narrowed down its reasons for launching the war alongside Israel, it hasn't discussed the risks of the operation, or why it doesn't seem to have an issue with Putin helping Iran in the fight. Plus, JD is skeptical about the war but won't tell Trump to his face, oil prices are soaring while Russia cashes in, and don't forget that the Department of Homeland Security is still down shut down while our country is at war.Tom Nichols joins Tim Miller for the weekend pod.show notes Tom on 'victory disease' in The Atlantic  French news channel with a split screen of bombs and Trump dancing Tim's playlist Tickets for our LIVE show in Austin on March 19: TheBulwark.com/Event

No children or synagogue members were killed or seriously injured. Separately, at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, 36-year-old Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a former Virginia Army National Guard member previously convicted and imprisoned for attempting to provide material support to ISIS, entered a classroom during an ROTC session, shouted "Allahu Akbar," and opened fire, killing one and injuring two others. A top CPAC leader sparked outrage this week after defending the bombing of Iranian schoolgirls. During a heated debate on Piers Morgan's show, American Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp suggested the girls might be "better off dead" than growing up under Iran's oppressive regime—an argument that left the panel stunned and raised disturbing questions about how far some are willing to go to justify war. Elsewhere in the episode: Utah lawmakers turn Good Friday into a state holiday (in a state that barely observes it), a quiet new Utah education bill pushes religion into the teaching of America's founding, and a disturbing wave of Christian pundits celebrating war because they think it will trigger the End Times. We also look at Pete Hegseth's biblical war rhetoric and the growing overlap between nationalism, Christianity, and foreign policy. Then in the final segment, we zoom out to examine the darker side of apocalyptic belief—and why some believers seem genuinely excited about the possibility of global catastrophe.

Today's Headlines: Two shootings in one day. An attacker rammed an explosives-filled truck into a Michigan synagogue and opened fire — nearly empty due to a half-day, so no casualties besides the shooter. The FBI called it targeted antisemitic violence. Hours later, a man who served 11 years for supporting ISIS killed one person and injured two in a classroom at Old Dominion University before being subdued by ROTC students. Both are being investigated as terrorism. On the war: Iran's new Supreme Leader Khamenei made his first public statement — no surrender, Strait of Hormuz stays shut, and he will avenge his entire family's deaths. Both US and Israeli intelligence now agree the regime won't fall anytime soon, so Israel has quietly downgraded its goal from regime change to degrading Iran's military. The USS Gerald Ford, which Trump sent from Venezuela to Iran with zero maintenance time, had a laundry room fire and has broken plumbing. The U.S. Treasury is borrowing $50 billion a week, adding a trillion to the deficit over five months. Total national debt: $38.9 trillion. Congress passed a bipartisan housing bill 89-10. Trump said "no one gives a fuck about housing." Florida passed a law requiring a passport or birth certificate to register to vote. Epstein's accountant testified for six hours, claimed he saw nothing, and named five men who paid Epstein: Les Wexner, Glen Dubin, Steven Sinofsky, Leon Black, and the Rothschild family — which accounted for maybe 30 seconds of testimony. The Pentagon banned photographers because Hegseth didn't like his pictures. The White House made a war hype video using NFL footage without consent. Trump has been gifting cabinet members Florsheim shoes in the wrong size. And finally, he gave Jake Paul his "complete and total endorsement" for no office, no race, and no discernible reason. Countdown with Keith Olbermann
IS TRUMP IN A FUGUE STATE ABOUT IRAN? - 3.12.26

Countdown with Keith Olbermann

SEASON 4 EPISODE 68: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: Trump doesn’t REALIZE that he’s screwed in Iran. He can't decide if he's won and we should applaud now, or if he'll win later and we should applaud then - when the reality is, he's in a quagmire and about two weeks from handing the Democrats a majority that even White House strategists think might be enough to impeach AND remove him next year. Key Republicans and everybody behind the scenes in MAGA are looking for off-ramps. Does Trump know? Will he be temporarily not-a-moron and take one of them? Is Trump in a fugue state? Dissociative behavior? Temporary amnesia? No awareness that there are consequences? You know – his normal state – only WORSE. First about Iran he said “any time I want it to end, it will end." Now about Iran he says it will continue indefinitely until they quote “literally could never build that country back.” Is there a strategy? A plan? Anything? In the most important document of the war, Senator Chris Murphy told us what he could of a semi-confidential briefing about Iran by the administration. They seem to think all they have to do is destroy all of Iran's armaments and they'll never ever find a way to replace them. And while he’s demanding the world bend to his will, again he is helping the Russians help the Iranians try to kill our people and our allies. Monday I mentioned it was the Russians locating American Assets in the middle east for Iran's benefit. Now Trump is indirectly funding Russian advisors helping Iran with its drone strategy. Is Trump even aware he is awake? And what the hell is this with him trying to guess the shoe size of his cabinet members and buying them shoes that were already out of style in 1966? PLUS what is it with Pete PTSD Hegseth? He has now BANNED all outside photographers from Pentagon briefings because he thought the Associated Press images of him were unflattering. But ALL images of Pete Hegseth are unflattering. B-Block (32:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Poor Adnan Virk misses by an inch after trying to out-sing Michael Buble. Bill Maher gets run over at an NBA game. Alina Habba brings us her umpteenth malapropism; she can't tell her Cahoots from her Cajones; and the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee can't tell the difference between 1947 and 47 years. C-Block (45:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Hardly that. Things I found on an ancient cassette. A bunch of radio sportscasts I did in my first 90 days in this business - just the other day (in 1979). Enjoy, or skip them, I won't be offended either way.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
