In this episode of The Fit Marriage Podcast, hosts Tim and Jamie Holloway welcome listeners with an honest, lighthearted update about their weight-loss journeys and fitness goals. Tim and Jamie dive into their check-in day results, sharing their weekly progress and reflecting on the small wins that make a big difference. Tim celebrates a 1.4-pound drop, while Jamie, who's lost 58 pounds, embraces non-scale victories like fitting comfortably into new jeans and reducing her waist measurements. Throughout the episode, Tim and Jamie reveal personal goals and motivations for maintaining their fitness. Jamie shares her excitement over accomplishing a challenging milestone—doing her first push-up—and how she's building up her endurance by jogging after workouts. She discusses how she went from struggling to jog 15 seconds to now jogging for three minutes, a testament to her perseverance and commitment to better health. Tim reflects on his journey with strength training, setting his sights on reaching an acceptable body fat percentage as he continues to work toward a healthier metabolic age. The couple also highlights how they motivate each other to push past comfort zones, helping them grow together. They discuss their roles as role models for their grandson, and the importance of being physically strong and healthy leaders. From keeping up with their grand baby's impressive milestones to Tim's mission to “walk the talk” in discipline and self-control, the Holloways bring a genuine, heartfelt approach to health and family life. Whether you're inspired by personal transformation stories, fitness goals, or motivational advice, this episode is packed with relatable, real-life insights on health, discipline, and the value of pushing each other toward shared growth. With fun banter and encouraging tips, Tim and Jamie's journey offers a powerful reminder of how even the smallest victories can build a solid foundation for lasting change. “It's really cool when your kids are proud of you. Helen Mark is in Dorset to investigate the county's ancient sunken roads, known as holloways. They're deep, steep-sided tracks formed when soft rock erodes and are often overtopped by a canopy of trees. The erosion over centuries creates remarkable, often otherworldly spaces, that come with their own unique flora and fauna. On her trip to the Symondsbury estate near Bridport Helen hears about how the cave spider and goblin's gold moss can thrive in the cracks of these unlikely rockfaces. She is joined by Andy Jefferies and Rosie Cummings from Natural England who are behind a project to map Britain's extensive network of holloways. The holloways often come with their own folklore too. Local storyteller Martin Maudsley recounts the legend of the Dorset colpexie - mischievous sprites that can taunt the unwary traveller!Producer: Robin Markwell Presenter: Helen Mark

Noughties North London rockers The Holloways formed with a simple premise, outlined in their Top 20 smash and signature song 'Generator': making the music to make you feel better. However, underneath their calypso-pop indie sound and raucously fun live performances was a darker side. Frankly, few bands before or since have suffered as much misfortune: in the space of a few short years, their label went bust, the pub they lived and practiced in burned down and the band split as members quit in disillusionment. Holloways bassist Bryn Fowler joins us on this episode to pick through the highs and lows of the band's career. From London band turf wars to his memories of nights at the legendary Nambucca venue, it's all here. With planned reunion gigs as part of the Propaganda tour scuppered by Covid (typical Holloways luck...), we also find out if there's another chapter of the band's story yet to be written. Elsewhere on the episode, Rick and Sarah run the rule over Shame's excellent new album 'Drunk Tank Pink' as it crashes the Top 10 of the UK albums chart and ask: when was the last time you saw a live performance as good as this on TV, let alone Soccer AM? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qzOGubzfxg Get in touch with the show on: demotapespod@gmail.com Follow us on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/demotapespod And Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/demotapespod/ If you really must, our personal Twitter handles are: https://twitter.com/rick_j_martin https://twitter.com/imsarahjanekemp

Robert Macfarlane, whose latest book is “Ghostways: Two Journeys in Unquiet Places,” written in collaboration with artist Stanley Donwood and writer Dan Richards, is interviewed by host Richard Wolinsky. This short book examines two strange areas in England, Orford Ness, a spit of sand in the southeast of England, not far from Cambridge, which was used as a weapons testing site in the Cold War, and the holloways of Dorset, strange paths beaten over centuries, and often covered over by trees, almost as caves. In this interview, recorded December 8, 2020, he talks about the book, both places in England, how the pandemic has affected his life, and how climate change is affected by the shutdown. Now, Berta Coleman is still passionate about reading and writing. After earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida, she worked in the insurance industry for 20 years before re-positioning herself to pursue one of God’s purposes for her life. The author of the novel Honor My Father…Really? and it’s sequel, Blemished Honor, Berta is also an anointed pianist, gifted to play by ear at the age of 8. She has the privilege of assisting authors realize their dreams through her work at a publishing company. Berta lives in the Central Florida area with her husband and two daughters. Contact information:Website: www.BertaColeman.comFacebook: AuthorBertaColeman “…A young man’s resistance to a connection with God, and the shocking family secrets which threaten to buckle his knees as he takes the first steps on his pathway to faith…”This is the tagline to Honor My Father…Really?, a rich and multilayered fictional saga of family, love, and life. What actually happens is this: For a long time, 18-year old Devin Holloway ignored his inner urges to form a relationship with God because of the holy-roller example his father, Michael, set before him. But after forming a new friendship with Nate and the gorgeous McKenna, Devin embarks on a spiritual journey, only to then witness his father in an adulterous situation. Meanwhile, Devin’s mother, Ranya, is having horrifying nightmares that dig up the past she has kept hidden from everyone in the family. Only Ranya’s mother knows the details of Ranya’s past, and cautions her to divulge the secret before it tears her apart. On the night that Michael and Ranya each plan to confess their secrets to one another, Michael goes first, but fearful Ranya remains quiet. Now the turmoil really begins. Even with love, prayer, and support of family and friends, Devin struggles to forgive and honor his father, while the entire Holloway family strives to regain wholeness and harmony. This book is for fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, teenagers and adults. While fictional in nature, the story addresses real world, everyday issues that plague Christian families, especially when it comes to developing and living out our faith on a daily basis. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CCGCJ0Y Blemished Honor“A family’s determination to stand—flaws and all…”On the rebound from family drama, the Holloways are determined to recover from previous wounds that threatened to tear them apart. Every member of the family is striving to live lives that honor God, in spite of their faults and shortcomings. While Michael and Ranya fight for reconciliation of their marriage, they’ve each got new issues to deal with—Ranya, with the entrance of Jordan, whom she has kept hidden from her family for over 20 years—and Michael, with a past that creeps up to disturb the peace he is working so hard to maintain. Meanwhile, college freshman Devin continues in his new spiritual journey and his relationship with McKenna, but struggles with insurmountable obstacles that cause him to reach his breaking point. When extreme demands jeopardize the unity of the family, the Holloways must respond with radical actions to protect themselves from further destruction. There is no dragging through the sludge of a boring backstory with this book; the plot is well-paced throughout. But most importantly we are taught several spiritual life lessons, mini sermonettes acted out as if on the stage of life. This book is for everyone who needs to know that our God forgives. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:12). If you missed Honor My Father...Really? be sure to grab that book too. Both will bless you.http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TY256NG

With her debut album "Quite Frankley" we welcome NINA BAKER! Influenced by the smooth tones of Ella Fitzgerald & Nina Simone, the technical brilliance of Lang-Lang and the creativity of Tori Amos, Kate Bush and Amy Winehouse, Nina Baker is a fusion of blues, pop, skiffle, rock, folk, jazz, country and classical music all interwoven with hallmark piano riffs, emotive lyrics and a unique vocal quality. Nina was hand-picked by BBC Introducing to attend their 2013 Master Class and came runner-up in MTV's Brand New for 2013 unsigned competition, beating over 500 acts to reach the final and impressing the MTV select panel who stated that "Nina brought something really unique to the competition, a mixture of light and dark makes her songs stand out”. The core of the album was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, under the stewardship of Nick Brine (The Darkness, Stone Roses, Bruce Springsteen). Sessions at Red Kite Studios in Llandovery with Martin Levan (Iron Maiden, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Sarah Brightman), brass composer Andrew Griffiths in Swansea and with the Ebbw Vale Male Voice Choir only adds to the heavy Welsh influence. The other side of the album is distinctly a London affair. From The Kings Gospel Choir to the inspirational John Themis (Boy George, Kylie Minogue, Stevie Wonder, Sir Elton John) to string arrangements by Andy Bell and Sam Sweeney, the album will be one of the last made at The Church Studios in Crouch End. Mixed by Tristan Ivemy (Frank Turner, The Holloways, Billy Lockett) and mastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios, the album titled “Quite Frankly” (dedicated to her late grandfather Frank Baker) is a big-scale, uncompromising production. CD is due for digital release on 6th January 2014.   www.ninabakermusic.co.uk www.northwestprime.com "LIKE US ON FACEBOOK"
