Episode # 292: Jamie Perrett (Peter Perrett)

Rarified Heir Podcast

Today on another encore edition of the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to musician Jamie Perrett, son of Peter Perrett from the band The Only Ones, of the first wave of English punk rock circa 1976. To say Jamie was open and honest would be an understatement. He was brutally honest. Perhaps more so than any other guest we've had on the podcast. What's so amazing is that through all the stories of neglect, abuse and unbelievable circumstances with which he grew up, Jamie and his father, as well as his mother, have somehow managed to move forward in their relationship that frankly, few could. It's a remarkable story. It's raw, like an open wound and Jamie bares all. in fact, Jamie not only does discuss his upbringing but we also get into his own music as well as his time recording and touring with his father today. How he's been able to get to this point is a story you have to hear on this episode. We found Jamie to be a resilient and incredibly forgiving person who has clearly been through the worst of it and come out the other end a more empathetic person. Much more than we frankly could be. On this episode we discuss the single that made Peter Perrett famous, "Another Girl, Another Planet," as well as his latest album The Cleansing which Jamie is a major part of. We also speak about Jamie's work as a producer, his time in bands like the cause célèbres U.K. band Babyshambles as well as his latest single & much more. This episode is one you won't soon forget. The Rarified Heir Podcast, everyone has a story.

Taking my career with it.-------------------One of the hats I am wearing as I figure out how to survive in the cruel hinterland of my TV writer comedy heyday is that of 'Music Dad'. Drogues, brouilles, chaos, arrestations… The Libertines se séparent. GUEST OVERVIEW: Todd DiCiurcio is an American artist who lives and works in NJ, USA. His drawings and paintings are created within, and respond to the corporeal context of the staged "live" performance and special event with acts such as Mac DeMarco, Broken Social Scene, Post Malone, The Rolling Stones, Ty Segall, New Order, Cage The Elephant, Blondie, Morrissey, Dope Lemon, Guided By Voices, Kings Of Leon, Dinosaur Jr, Babyshambles, On Broadway with Sweeney Todd, and In The Heights among others. Concurrently, his observed studio work addresses the exo-distortions inherent in the patterns of displacement and excess strewn across American Society. Finding truth in portraiture, he utilizes technology both spiritual and psychoanalytical to create images that become words, stories, bands, armies of personal mythology. Striving against ordinary, DiCiurcio seeks miracle in the spectacle.

The Fantasy Life of Poetry & Crime”.

It was a very messy time for everyone I think…'  Adam talks with affection about legendary drummer and teacher Bob Armstrong, why he no longer thinks of playing Wembley and Glastonbury as momentous occasions, and being in The La's for two whole days:  ‘…I think I was in The La's twice, once was for about a day…'  This episode is in keeping with our ethos to lift the lid of the music industry. Thanks to Adam, we hear a side of it that is not often spoken about yet has an ever-increasing impact from the lowest to the highest echelons of the industry.
