On this off the wall episode of the Off Season, Alfie is joined by fellow sports journalists, Josh Horsfield and Charlotte Hindson, to dissect some teams made up fully of musical artists and seeing how they would play with the context that they all have professional ability. How would AJ Tracey fare in between the sticks? Would Alex Turner be the next coming Fernando Torres up front? And would Denzel Curry and Gerry Cinnamon be one of the best midfield partnerships to ever grace the game? It's all going to be theorised on this pod here. Sing of the times cover: Harry Styles. Some Times cover. Gerry Cinnamon. You give me something cover: Jamiroquai.
Billy McGuinness from Aslan joins More than 90 Minutes Editor, Andrew Milne on the Celtic Soul Podcast. Billy gives an update on Christy Dignam and Aslan's plans. While looking back at the bands highs and lows over the past 40 years.Back in 80's Ireland was a great place for music as record companies searched for the next U2. Unemployment was high as young adults were forced to emigrate these shores and both Billy and Andrew look back with fond memories at the 1980's Irish Music Scene and iconic venues like the Baggot Inn, Dublin and the Boxing Club in Drogheda.Aslan's rise and fall and rise again are discussed and Billy also takes us down memory lane to his young days at school and serving his time as a baker. Its amazing how buns from the bakery played a part in Billy getting into the band. The band are no strangers to Glasgow having played the famous Barrowlands and the Classic Grand. They attended the Celtic Player of the Year awards after the game v the Rangers last season. They also supported Glasgow's Gerry Cinnamon in Malahide Castle in the Summer opening up a new audience for the band. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Ross Coutts is a man of many talents and one of his multiple roles is in local radio. We talk about his early days in hospital radio and how he seeks to give a platform to up and coming Scottish musicians. You'll even hear about an 11 year old Lewis Capaldi coming in and making an instant impression. We chat about the highly regarded Gig in The Goil music festival, one that Ross played a fundamental role in bringing to life, with impressive headliners, such as Gerry Cinnamon & The Snuts… And Ross gives some fascinating insight into the fabric of the West Lothian music scene, a relatively small place that seems to be a conveyor belt of the very best that Scotland has to offer. And as always, there's plenty more. www.dontfretaboutdebt.net/blethered/ Contact: seanmcdonald.podcast@gmail.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/seanmcdonald01

John Jokey is the owner of the world-famous Priory Bar, in the heart of Glasgow, Scotland. He's also Manager of two exciting Scottish bands, Voodoos and Gallus. Since its inception in 2014, The Priory Bar has been a breeding ground for emerging UK talent, with Gerry Cinnamon, Baby Strange, The Dunts, Voodoos, Gallus, The Van T's and many more all cutting their teeth at the Sauchiehall Street institution. The bar is built on Jokey's unwavering commitment to emerging talent, providing a safe place for creativity and the fair treatment of bands. The stage is basically in the crowd, the energy is always high and there is a strong, close-knit community that surrounds it.During our chat, Jokey gives us insight into how the idea of Priory first came about and admits that it is almost impossible to call out stand out nights in the bar as there are so many. We also discuss the impact COVID has had on the venue and the bands that play there, and how non other than Liam Gallagher stepped in to help.Jokey also gives us insight into the management side of things and how Voodoos and Gallus are both navigating their way through these challenging times .One of Jokey's best live music experiences involves a surreal story about being on the roof of the Barrowlands with his good friend Johnny Took from the DMA's after one of their stand out gigs in the famous venue. And of course we end the conversation as we always do by learning why Jokey thinks live music is so important. Raymond was a great guest and shared insight into his songwriting process. He also shares some of the wisdom gained from the incredible projects he's worked on and artists he's worked with. Three things we learn from this week episode include:· The stories behind Nobodies and Plague Called Home from his new EP; · How and what inspired his award winning documentary The Railway People; and · What Ray took from playing in Ocean Colour Scene and with Gerry Cinnamon to his own music. For this chat I was joined by Mike Mackie, Mike Spink and Euan who are all part of the Gullane Athletic Football program. This was a special one for me as I am sure like a lot of people, there is no place like home. Gullane means a lot to me and looking back now at growing up it's a one of those special places that you are lucky to be a part of. The community feel to it just brings something special to the place. Having grown up with a lot of family members volunteering in the village to put events on for the youth every year I always had the urge to give something back to kids myself and venturing into coaching for 8 years was the beginning of that. These guys, and especially Mike Mackie, created a Football program for boys and girls to be a part of, building a community club and adding huge value to Gullane. All volunteers and giving their spare time to help out the youth. It's a great conversation on how they fell into Football as kids themselves, moving into the journey to build up the program from scratch and how they continue to grow it and work with the kids. During the conversation there may be a reference made too limited heading drills for the kids, this is only for those aged 12 and above. There are no heading drills for kids aged 12 and under. If you see this and you are someone from Gullane, or even if you listen and enjoy it, it would be great if you could share it and spread what these guys are doing around the area. Song choice for the feel of this podcast: Diamonds in the Mud by Gerry Cinnamon. I've been all round the world, but there's nowhere compares to my home-town. Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation.
From appearing with Robbie Williams on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway to guesting on Gerry Cinnamon's album via breakfast with Justin Timberlake, this is the story of missed opportunities! This is the tale of the events or happenings which came so near yet were still so far!

In this short episode I share a wee breathing practice inspired by my Wim Hoff journey, I first got into cold water therapy and breath work maybe around 6 years ago, after first hearing Wim on the Rich Roll podcast, I remember how strange Vilius thought I was taking cold showers and practicing loud breathing haha. I love the message wim puts out, just breathe, doesn't need to be fancy, through the nose or through the mouth, what ever feels comfortable for you just get the air in.. Something that is accessiable to us all and that actually gives us instant physiological and psychological effects. I also share 10 wee habits/practices that I would choose to do in a perfect day, with all the time in the world. This was inspired by the idea that if we know more about what we love, or what we enjoy doing (finding that out by thinking/writing down what brings us most joy) we can begin to incorporate more of that in our lives. Also, I just found out my wonderful, but dyslexic brain left out number 7 on the list... my number 7 would be putting on the music you love and finding a spot outside to walk and sing loudly, it always brings me so much joy (after I get over the fear) my go to's are: Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, Wilson Pickett, Gerry Cinnamon.. depending on the energy my choice can change...PS ‘Tend to the garden you can touch' is a Buddhist proverb that really resonated with me.. I think I first heard it from a podcasts with a Duncan Trussel and Joe Rogan.. by far one of my fav guests on Rogans podcast, you can create your own meaning and take what you want from it. I guess it means to me that we need to look after/ and love our selves before we can start helping/ fully loving other people.Although I only share a short breath practice, I want to caution this episode by saying that deep breathing can make you feel a wee bit dizzy and light headed, so maybe sit down if it's your first time. Also, if you feel any benefits, check out all the resources surrounding Wim and other cool breathing advocates/teachers. There is wonderful podcasts and videos detailing how and why we should breathe more.

In episode 5 I had the chance to sit down with childhood & local hero Andy McLaren. I'd spend hours on the park practicing dropping my shoulder while smashing one into the top corner the way Andy did. In this episode we chat about life and this beautiful game of ours. We touch on where football began for him in the streets of Castlemilk, his playing career and how much he loves his music, especially local lad Gerry Cinnamon! Andy was great and ever so open, football wasn't the only topic. We speak about Mental Health in the game and on a personal level. He's someone who I look up to and have so much admiration for. I loved recording this episode so sit back and enjoy. Bye Now!
Gerry Cinnamon calls up Kyle Meredith to discuss his sophomore LP, The Bonny. The Scottish singer-songwriter, who is seeing massive success in the UK, talks about what it’s like to achieve this kind of fame in his 30s, the DIY road that he follows, and how he sees songwriting as a lost art form. Cinnamon also goes on to talk about how Reservoir Dogs, Neil Young’s Powderfinger, and his bouts of insomnia have influenced his career and songs. Follow on Facebook | Podchaser | Twitter

Keagan, in a last minute attempt to put together an episode, taught us about 2 artists that have made a unique name for themselves in this modern music industry. Dylan then goes on to talk about a dumpling story from earlier in the evening.

John Jokey, owner of The Priory Bar in Glasgow, joins me for EP3. The Priory has acted as the focal point for Glasgow's burgeoning music scene over the past few years, hosting now famous raucous live shows and providing up and coming talent the opportunity to cut their teeth, and spawning an all encompassing musical community (which kickstarted the careers of artists such as Gerry Cinnamon) in the process. Jokey has been at the centre of it all, and he tells me his story to date. *Slight buzz on this podcast due to technical difficulties while recording, apologies*

I talk to Dylan John Thomas about his early life growing up in Foster Care, his initial introduction to music and his 'apprenticeship' of busking, before going on to tour the UK and Europe with Gerry Cinnamon and now headlining his own sell-out gigs.We talk about living with ADHD, busking on the streets of Glasgow, the beauty of doing what you enjoy in life, the importance of gratitude, Gerry Cinnamon's mentorship and the usual general patter you get in each episode of Blethered. You can find Dylan's music on Youtube, iTunes and Spotify - this guy is rapidly on his way to the top.Twitter: @seanmcdonald01Email: seanmcdonald.podcast@gmail.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Listener Discretion is Advised, content may not be suitable for all audiences with feelings or taste. Tom Bottcher live in studio at 5pm Saturday evening the 6th of April with the Locke inn and various guests talking about Horses in the Grand National, Shergar, and a live twitter update as tiger roll emulated red rum in winning the great showcase event at Aintree for two years in a row. Ignoring the opportunity to talk about John Delaney issues a review of the return of Bacon Slicer Big Mick to the National team unfolds. A music Discussion evolves into talking about Scottish artist Gerry Cinnamon singing a "belter" of a song, various other nonsense ensues and then making his first appearance this year Nucci takes out his phrasebook and starts talking about the Eurovision. It all goes downhill from there
