Tu n'auras pas d'autres dieux devant ma face. Tu ne te feras point d'image taillée, ni de représentation quelconque des choses qui sont en haut dans les cieux, qui sont en bas sur la terre, et qui sont dans les eaux plus bas que la terre. Mais le septième jour est le jour du repos de l'Éternel, ton Dieu: tu ne feras aucun ouvrage, ni toi, ni ton fils, ni ta fille, ni ton serviteur, ni ta servante, ni ton bétail, ni l'étranger qui est dans tes portes. Car en six jours l'Éternel a fait les cieux, la terre et la mer, et tout ce qui y est contenu, et il s'est reposé le septième jour: c'est pourquoi l'Éternel a béni le jour du repos et l'a sanctifié. Honore ton père et ta mère, afin que tes jours se prolongent dans le pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne. Tu ne tueras point. Tu ne commettras point d'adultère. Tu ne déroberas point. Tu ne porteras point de faux témoignage contre ton prochain. Tu ne convoiteras point la maison de ton prochain; tu ne convoiteras point la femme de ton prochain, ni son serviteur, ni sa servante, ni son bœuf, ni son âne, ni aucune chose qui appartienne à ton prochain.

Lytta Basset est philosophe et théologienne. Elle a écrit de nombreux ouvrages qui ont beaucoup de poids pour de nombreux chrétiens aujourd'hui, comme Sainte colère, La joie imprenable, Cet au-delà qui nous fait signe ou Méditations de pleine confiance. Elle habite aujourd'hui en Suisse, où elle a été pasteur de l'Église réformée à Genève. Elle a également occupé un poste de professeur de théologie pratique à la Faculté de théologie de l'université de Neuchâtel. Dans Paroles de feu, son nouveau livre, Lytta Basset se penche sur les passages difficiles ou délicats de l'Ancien et du Nouveau Testament. Très souvent, nous avons une interprétation erronée de textes importants. La plupart du temps, selon elle, c'est en raison de traductions fautives, moralistes ou dogmatiques. Ainsi, nombreux sont ceux dont les lectures de certains textes sapent le moral, effraient, détruisent au lieu de construire, de soigner et d'éclairer. Ici, Lytta Basset pointe aussi du doigt l'inconscient collectif de l'Occident, et sa doctrine d'un péché originel pourtant absent de la Genèse. Qui n'a pas été heurté, choqué, ou même scandalisé par certains textes bibliques ? Nous apprenons ici qu'il s'agit, la plupart du temps, de citations sorties de leur contexte, mal traduites, ou interprétées selon la logique d'une époque qui ne comprend pas celle des prophètes et des scribes de la Bible. En même temps, Lytta Basset indique qu'il faut savoir s'interroger sur les textes sacrés qui nous scandalisent ou qui nous heurtent. Souvent, nous dit-elle, c'est parce qu'ils appuient sur une blessure ou qu'ils mettent en lumière nos dysfonctionnements. Mais elle insiste sur le fait que jamais, la Bible ne peut être entendue de façon mortifère... Avec exigence et passion, Lytta Basset nous permet de porter un regard renouvelé et profondément constructif sur la Parole divine. En expliquant sa méthodologie, elle revient sur certaines des citations les plus controversées, particulièrement celles du Christ, comme au sujet de Judas : « Il aurait mieux valu pour lui qu'il ne fut pas né cet homme là ». Ou « Celui qui te gifle sur la joue droite, tend lui l'autre joue », comme « Ce que Dieu a uni, que l'humain ne le sépare pas » et « Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même ». Ou encore, « Honore ton père et ta mère », « Dans la douleur tu enfanteras des fils » et aussi « L'Éternel a donné, l'Éternel a pris »… Lytta Basset nous invite à lire et vivre l'Écriture Sainte comme une parole bienfaisante, thérapeutique et qui prend compte notre désir. Ce qui compte, dans la lecture et la méditation de la Bible, c'est que la nouvelle soit heureuse, qu'elle nous aide à vivre et qu'elle nous permette aussi d'aider les autres à devenir plus vivants. Lytta Basset révèle toute la flamme d'une Parole Divine toujours bienveillante, aimante et présente. Une Parole aussi mystérieuse que vivante et créatrice, partout et en chacun de nous, celle d'un Dieu qui se dit Verbe et qui se fait chair dans le Christ. Si, dès la fin du Samedi saint, il n'y avait pas l'embrasement à tout jamais du monde entier par la lumière divine. Nous avons cette chance immense de participer à ce feu, et ainsi de ne sombrer ni aux ténèbres ni au désespoir. C'est ici tout le mystère de l'espérance chrétienne. Celle qui accompagne nos vies. Celle qui marque même étonnamment la mort du pape François, en plein temps pascal, comme un clin d'oeil divin envers celui qui, avec ses qualités et ses défauts, a remarquablement bien servi. « Je n'ai jamais été aussi heureux qu'aujourd'hui » : C'est ce que me confiait ce matin un futur invité de Zeteo, un homme touché par la grâce et pourtant marqué par l'épreuve. C'est là le cœur du mystère. Pour ceux qui sont touchés par la joie de la Bonne Nouvelle. C'est cette joie qui nous habite aujourd'hui. Nous vivons des heures lumineuses, et nous sommes heureux de les partager. Pour Zeteo, c'était la flamboyante retraite de Semaine sainte avec Philippe Dautais. Avec lui, ceux qui ont pu être touchés par le feu divin ont été plus nombreux que jamais. Pour Zeteo, ce sont aujourd'hui les paroles de feu que Lytta Basset va ranimer auprès de nombreux chrétiens ou non chrétiens, en particulier ceux qui ont souvent été déçus ou choqués par la Bible. Ils vont comprendre que ça n'est pas la Parole divine qui les décevait, mais des interprétations ou des habitudes trop humaines… Pour Zeteo encore, c'est la gratitude ! Le feu crépite… Les audiences, les messages reçus, les dons récoltés… Je tiens ici à dire toute ma gratitude de participer à une telle aventure qui me dépasse tellement, toute ma gratitude pour tant d'invités merveilleux, tant d'auditeurs nombreux, de témoins et de messagers si souvent bouleversants, et de donateurs qui, quelque soit le montant de leurs dons, sont toujours généreux. Je tiens ici à exprimer particulièrement toute ma gratitude à ceux qui ont répondu aux appels aux dons. Ils permettent à l'aventure de continuer, en lien avec ceux qui, par leurs dons passés, ont permis d'en arriver jusqu'aujourd'hui. Et en lien avec ceux qui, par leurs dons à venir, vont permettre de franchir les prochaines étapes. J'ai conscience en écrivant ces lignes que rien n'est jamais acquis et qu'il faut, avant tout, garder l'humilité et l'accueil de ce qui advient. Seul l'inconnu est ce qui est le plus sûr. Un inconnu qu'il est plus simple ou plus facile d'accueillir quand on a la joie dans le cœur. C'est dans cette joie et ce feu partagé que nous achevons ce message en cette semaine où souffle plus fort que jamais le vent de la Résurrection. Nombreux sont ceux qui désirent recevoir les bénédictions de Dieu mais ne sont pas prêts à se donner à lui. Mais vous pouvez être différent. Seriez-vous prêt à prendre tout à nouveau l'engagement d'être généreux et de vous investir, vous, votre temps et votre argent dans l'oeuvre du Seigneur ? Ne permettez pas au diable de vous ôter votre consécration simplement parce que vous avez des factures à payer et certaines obligations qui vous causent du souci. Jésus nous encourage à ne nous inquiéter de rien parce que Dieu connaît nos besoins et qu'Il nous promet de les combler (Matthieu 6.25-34). Proverbes 3.9-10 dit: "Honore l'Eternel en lui donnant une part de tes biens et en lui offrant les prémices de tous tes revenus. Alors tes greniers regorgeront de nourriture et tes cuves déborderont de vin." Lorsque vous donnez tout à Dieu, Il est fidèle pour prendre soin de vous. Donnez-vous à Dieu. Donnez-lui tout ce que vous êtes, tout ce que vous espérez être, tous vos rêves, vos visions, vos espoirs et vos désirs. Laissez-le prendre possession de tout et vous verrez sa puissance à l'oeuvre dans votre vie.

Voici l'Évangile du mardi 11 février 2025 : « Vous laissez de côté le commandement de Dieu, pour vous attacher à la tradition des hommes » (Mc 7, 1-13) En ce temps-là, les pharisiens et quelques scribes, venus de Jérusalem, se réunissent auprès de Jésus, et voient quelques-uns de ses disciples prendre leur repas avec des mains impures, c'est-à-dire non lavées. – Les pharisiens en effet, comme tous les Juifs, se lavent toujours soigneusement les mains avant de manger, par attachement à la tradition des anciens ; et au retour du marché, ils ne mangent pas avant de s'être aspergés d'eau, et ils sont attachés encore par tradition à beaucoup d'autres pratiques : lavage de coupes, de carafes et de plats. Alors les pharisiens et les scribes demandèrent à Jésus : « Pourquoi tes disciples ne suivent-ils pas la tradition des anciens ? Ils prennent leurs repas avec des mains impures. » Jésus leur répondit : « Isaïe a bien prophétisé à votre sujet, hypocrites, ainsi qu'il est écrit : Ce peuple m'honore des lèvres, mais son cœur est loin de moi. C'est en vain qu'ils me rendent un culte ; les doctrines qu'ils enseignent ne sont que des préceptes humains. Vous aussi, vous laissez de côté le commandement de Dieu, pour vous attacher à la tradition des hommes. » Il leur disait encore : « Vous rejetez bel et bien le commandement de Dieu pour établir votre tradition. En effet, Moïse a dit : Honore ton père et ta mère. Et encore : Celui qui maudit son père ou sa mère sera mis à mort. Mais vous, vous dites : Supposons qu'un homme déclare à son père ou à sa mère : “Les ressources qui m'auraient permis de t'aider sont korbane, c'est-à-dire don réservé à Dieu”, alors vous ne l'autorisez plus à faire quoi que ce soit pour son père ou sa mère ; vous annulez ainsi la parole de Dieu par la tradition que vous transmettez. Jean-Honore Fragonard's painting, The Swing is one of those rare pieces that feels so immediately accessible it has begun to make the leap from the museum gallery wall to pop culture. Early in the immensely popular Disney movie Frozen, the character of Anna jumps up in front of the painting to mimic the expression of the woman on the swing. It was a moment that portrayed Anna as spontaneous and caught up in the moment but also foreshadowed a love interest with perhaps less than noble intentions. This is a great example of a Rococo artwork as the angles create a sense of movement and the spotlight on the central figure feels like a continuation of the high drama of the Baroque, but the Rococo was a bit more frivolous and self-indulgent. In this painting, we see a woman riding on a swing inside a private garden. It was a space where the aristocrats might be more at ease to let loose and have a bit of fun away from the strict confines of polite society. Fragonard was commissioned to make this painting which was kept in a private cabinet for only his patron and close friends to enjoy. We all deal with self-doubt. We question our abilities and ultimately our potential to make things happen. We say things like, ‘I am not good enough! Did I make the right decision? What if I cannot handle this?' these are all examples of self-doubt.   Most of the time, we have doubts about ourselves and our capabilities when we are lacking one of two things: confidence or competence.   Past experience and comparing ourselves to others also leads to self-doubt. We also experience self-doubt when we do something new and challenging or something out of our comfort zone. But when it comes to something that we never did before having doubts is normal.  To some extent, self-doubt is actually useful because it helps you see what skills you need to acquire or improve to perform a certain task better   But if self-doubt becomes the norm it's time for you to change that. Which brings me to a great quote…"When you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt"– Honore de Balzac.   So, Let's talk about Recognizing the signs of self-doubt.   Being stuck with self-doubt can prevent you from living the life you desire. Self-doubt prevents you from starting the business you would love to, pursuing your passion, not applying for the amazing job promotion you think you deserve. You get the idea.   So, self-doubt basically holds you back in life and ultimately from success. It leads to procrastination. It keeps you from taking action towards your goals and ultimately achieving them. When you have doubts you don't seize the opportunities that might be present in your life.  Self-doubt can have a negative effect on your life and confidence.   So, how can you deal with self-doubt and move forward…The Key is in Identifying and overcome Self Doubt.   Start by Recognizing the effects of self-doubt on your growth mindset:   Excessive self-doubt can lead to negative thinking patterns and limit your ability to achieve success. It can also lead to anxiety and depression, as well as interfering with interpersonal relationships. Self-doubt can impact work performance and productivity.   The truth is that self-doubt doesn't go away. We simply learn how to deal with it better so we can achieve our goals and live our best life.   Learn to Embrace Your Self-Doubt   It may sound weird, but the first step to deal with your self-doubt is to embrace it. In other words, when you have self-doubt simply acknowledge it. Don't beat yourself for having doubts about yourself and your abilities. Having self-doubts is normal – we all have them. It's what makes us real and what makes us humans. So, accept that sometimes you will doubt yourself.   Instead of being reactive and trying to run away from it by distracting yourself – embrace it. In so doing, you will not waste your time, energy and motivation trying to avoid it. Embracing your self-doubt allows you to refocus your energy and fully concentrate on your goals.   A Key is to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others.   "The only person you should try to be better than is who you were yesterday"– Unknown.   I understand that it is easier to compare yourself to others but doing so is one of the reasons why we struggle with insecurities. Comparing yourself to others leads to self-doubt…it causes it.   So, an effective way to deal with self-doubt is to compare yourself only to YOU. In other words, compare yourself to who you were yesterday to see how far you have come. For instance: suppose you started your Business 4 month ago. Instead of comparing your success to someone who is further ahead of you, compare your success to when you first started. When you assess your progress, don't forget to celebrate your small wins. As Stefan James says, ‘what gets rewarded, gets repeated'. GAP vs GAIN by Dan Sullivan.   Build Your Self-Confidence to Overcome Doubt   To build confidence you need to remember, it is important to be accepting of your mistakes and failures, as they are part of the learning process. Also try practicing positive self-talk and daily affirmations can also be helpful.   You can make lots of simple choices to build your self-confidence. Just as there are many ways to strengthen your body, there are ways you can increase your resolve by setting small goals, making healthier choices, nurturing your spirit, and finding support. Here are just a few:   Break free of self-sabotaging thoughts and behavior patterns. Expand your knowledge, skills, and experiences. Become physically, mentally, and spiritually healthier. Deepen interpersonal relationships. Most of our doubts, lack of confidence and even imposture syndrome comes from negative thinking and thoughts patterns we have established over time.   Tips for overcoming negative thinking patterns which cause doubt:   Learn to Identify Thought Distortions. Our minds have their clever way of convincing us of something that isn't actually true. These faulty thoughts reinforce negative thinking. Counter Negative Thoughts with Positive Affirmations. Positive affirmations can be used in a number of different ways. ... Avoid External Negativity. Take steps to avoid things or people in your life that hurt the way you think and feel. Take a Break. One way to separate yourself from negativity is to allow yourself a specified period (no more or less than 10 minutes) with the negative thought. Practice Feeling Grateful. Research shows that feeling grateful has a positive influence on your levels of happiness. Focus on Your Strength. The more you try to focus on your strengths instead of dwelling on mistakes you've made in the past, the easier it will be to overcome negative thinking. Seek out Professional Support. If you still have a hard time managing your thoughts and find that they are affecting your ability to meet your daily responsibilities or enjoy. On the other hand, if you don't take action, you feel anxious and overwhelmed. So, don't sell yourself short because of your self-doubts.   Instead, learn to focus on the present moment, embrace your doubts and ask yourself ‘what small action I can take today to move towards my goals?'. Then, simply take that action. In so doing, you are not engaging in negative self-talk about something, but you are actually doing this thing. And as you act despite your doubts you feel more confident, empowered, motivated and happy. Make sense?   Finally, It's Important You Sharpen your Skills & Mastery of Your Trade   Often, when you don't know how to achieve something the voice of your self-doubt is louder. In other words, the lack of clarity and competence leads to self-doubt, less confidence and inaction. So, having clarity and competence is vital if you want to deal with self-doubt.   When you don't have clarity on what skills you need, simply think of your goal and identify the key steps that you need to take to achieve it. If you struggle to identify what needs to be done research what successful people in that area are doing and follow their steps. Once you know what needs to be done you can make a plan of action to develop your skills.   If you need to acquire new skills to achieve your goal, be willing to learn those skills. In other words, have a learning mentality. Read books, watch YouTube videos, listen podcasts and audiobooks, attend seminars or sign up for a course.   Whatever it is that you need to learn just take the time to do it. The more you learn, the more competent you become. And with competence comes confidence. When you are confident, you are more likely to take action and make progress regardless of your doubts. Can you see how it all ties together?   Look, we all doubt ourselves and that's okay. It's what we do next that makes all the difference. I hope these tips will start helping you to identify and overcome your self-doubt each day. Self-doubt is normal, but it doesn't have to control your life. In other words, have a learning mentality. Read books, watch YouTube videos, listen podcasts and audiobooks, attend seminars or sign up for a course.   Whatever it is that you need to learn just take the time to do it. The more you learn, the more competent you become. And with competence comes confidence. When you are confident, you are more likely to take action and make progress regardless of your doubts. Episode 216: In Quebec, on April 15, 1763, after a supposed confession and hasty trial by an English military tribunal, 30-year-old Marie-Josephte Corriveau was convicted of murdering in brutal fashion her second husband, Louis-Étienne Dodier, and was sentenced to death. She was hanged with haste, three days later. Her body was then put on display in a form-fitting metal cage and placed at a crossroad where for the next five weeks, she stood as a warning to others considering domestic homicide as an answer to an unhappy marriage. When her cage disappeared locals believed that the Devil himself had come and taken Marie-Josephte to hell. It said that La Corriveau's spectre haunts the crossroads still.
