https://lnk.bio/Jeditalk The trailer we have all been waiting for is here! We watch and break down what we believe was everything seen in the trailer - we are sure we left some out! Did you catch the latest Star Wars LEGO special on Disney+ - it was excellent! John Boyega has thoughts on how he would handle the sequel trilogy. Did you see how much it cost to make The Acolyte...we react. Darth Vader was moved fron the now closed Launch Bay at Hollywood Studios - his new location is better than the alternative. All of this and more on episode 408 of Jedi Talk! (even though we said 407 multiple times on air... SMH)
Let's talk about this Mando trailer, synopsis, and that AWESOME throwback poster! We also touch on John Boyega playing Monday Morning Quarterback with what he would have done if he was the producer of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. We also have a fun round of our segment Will of the Force, like will Snoke be involved at all with the Mandalorian movie and that dormant M-count cloning subplot with Grogu. We also take some time at the top of the show to give our thoughts on the attack on the first amendment and fans (consumers) speaking out against the decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel. If you like having a great time talking Star Wars, you've found your home, because if you're listening to this broadcast, you are part of The Resistance!

Into the drift! This week, V and Emily talk, once again, about a movie that V has never seen but that fandom loves: Pacific Rim. Topics include the Mako Mori Test, why and how this fandom is the victim of Any Two White Guys syndrome, and... Jupiter Ascending? Also, why Pacific Rim: Uprising failed as a sequel and why sometimes filmmakers just getting to play with toys for millions and millions of dollars can be a lot of fun. ✦ English actor and producer Jon Boyega gained international recognition for his role as Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy; however, that was not Boyega's first dip into science fiction. His debut feature-length film, 2011's "Attack the Block," and his most recently released film, "They Cloned Tyrone," both use the science fiction comedy genre to explore deeper social issues. Boyega appeared at Dragon Con over Labor Day weekend, and City Lights Collective co-host Kim Drobes caught up with him to discuss his passion for acting, his role as a film producer, and his love for Atlanta. ✦ City Lights Collective member and award-winning Atlanta comedian Joel Byars is one of the hardest-working people in the business. He hosts many comedy events around town, and his podcast, "Hot Breath Pod," aims to uplift his fellow comedians. Byars joins us weekly to share his picks for this week's must-see comedy, and today his mix includes a couple of big-name touring stars and a local treasure returning home to play the Fox Theater. ✦ There's no better place for Shakespeare than an outdoor theatre, and this fall, the Atlanta Shakespeare Company launches "A Shakespeare Happening," the first-ever free public Shakespeare festival in DeKalb County, taking place in the picturesque neighborhood of Avondale Estates. Alongside the theatrical performances, there will be live music and workshops for all ages. The first day of festivities is this Saturday and begins with "Tempest Jr.," an adaptation of "The Tempest" for young audiences. WABE arts reporter Summer Evans recently discussed the series with festival creator Nicole Sage, and Atlanta Shakespeare Company associate managing director Katie Grace Kirby. ✦ Long before modern choirs and vocal coaches, there was Sacred Harp—a uniquely American way of singing that turned everyday people into music-makers. This powerful and historic tradition dates back to the early 1800s and continues to thrive today, bringing together communities in spirited, four-part harmony. The 120th convention of the United Sacred Harp Musical Association comes to the Foundry at Puritan Mill on September 13 and 14, 2025. It is expected to be the largest gathering in a generation, drawing hundreds of singers from across the US and beyond. City Lights Collective producer Josh Thane sat down with Matt Hinton, a longtime Sacred Harp singer and scholar, to learn more about this enduring and uniquely American form of group singing. ✦ Atlanta's vibrant world of cocktails and zero-proof beverages thrives in our bars and restaurants as well as our local distilleries and non-alcoholic bottle shops. Few may know this world better than Beth McKibben, editor in chief and senior dining editor at Rough Draft Atlanta. Beth's expertise is invaluable as she continually explores our city's elevated beverage programs and examines the latest trends in mixology. She joins The City Lights Collective monthly for "The Beverage Beat," and this month, McKibben discusses what she calls "transitional cocktails," sips to savor during our fake-fall slash second summer season—also known as September in Atlanta.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Last Jedi was 8 years ago, and the media is still calling Star Wars fans "racists" because of Kelly Marie Tran, John Boyega and The Acolyte (like, all of it.) The media and Lucasfilm are using Kelly Marie Tran and John Boyega as scapegoats to push a false narrative that Star Wars fans are racist, despite the vast majority being unfairly vilified. Hollywood and the media are weaponizing identities and blaming fans for their own stupidity and dumb choices, rather than taking responsibility for failures like those of Lucasfilm and Marvel. The entertainment industry's constant attacks on fans and their personal opinions are tanking movies and shows because people anticipate "one of those things" pushing an agenda. The media and entertainment industry are regressing to the 1950s by constantly shoving identity politics and agendas down people's throats, unfairly labeling Star Wars fans as racist. The industry's need to change characters and stories to reflect actors' personal identities is ruining movies and shows by prioritizing actors' lives over storytelling. Kelly Marie Tran's attempt to tie her new movie to the Star Wars controversy is deemed ridiculous and attention-seeking, as nobody cares about her new project. The entertainment industry's actions are making people mad at each other and hating unfairly when they didn't before, creating unnecessary division among fans. Diversity and inclusion are being used as tools to push agendas and vilify certain groups, symptomatic of a larger problem in Hollywood and the media.
Could Star Wars star John Boyega be heading to the MCU as Bishop?! In today's episode of The Kristian Harloff Show, we break down the viral comments from Boyega himself, who revealed that he once spoke with Kevin Feige and now wants to play the time-traveling mutant Bishop in Marvel's upcoming X-Men reboot. Could this be the perfect role for him? Boyega reflects on his journey from Attack the Block to The Force Awakens and why joining the MCU now — as Bishop — might be exactly what he needs. We also explore how X-Men '97 is reigniting interest in Bishop's live-action debut. Plus, we cover a jam-packed lineup of entertainment news:
