Maintaining a competitive edge as a high-performing athlete while balancing the responsibilities of fatherhood and entrepreneurship is no easy feat. It requires a delicate juggling act between training, family time, and managing a business. Finding the right balance means prioritizing discipline, time management, and focusing on what truly matters in each area of life without losing sight of personal goals. Lance Palmer is a true renaissance man of combat sports. As a two-time PFL tournament champion, four-time NCAA All-American, and OHSAA wrestling legend, he has proven his mastery of the physical and mental demands of elite-level competition. Today, Lance discusses his unique upbringing and shares insights into balancing his successful MMA career with the responsibilities of fatherhood. Join in as young leaders pose inquiries about life, personal development, and beyond! Quotes: “The biggest thing I've had to focus on over the past three and a half years is patience, because I've never had much of it in life, and it's something I've really had to work on.” – Lance Palmer “When I think of ‘engaging,' I picture a clutch or a motor engaging—like being locked in. That's what those words mean to me more than just being present.” – Lance Palmer “If they really want to be serious, or if they want to be successful at it, or even have a chance at success, they need an honest answer about the work required to reach the next level.” – Lance Palmer “It's the mark of an educated mind to be able to switch back and forth between roles, and the quicker we can do it, the better.” – Matt Beaudreau Takeaways: Develop patience and presence - Implement strategies like focusing on your senses (smell, touch, sight) to stay grounded in the moment, whether training or spending time with family. Set clear boundaries with technology - Establish rules and limits around phone/screen time to ensure you are fully present and engaged with your children. Communicate openly with your children about their goals and commitment level - Have honest discussions about the level of dedication required to excel in a sport and allow them to make informed decisions. Explore sports psychology and mindset coaching - Consider working with a sports psychologist to help you optimize your performance and maintain a healthy mindset. Seek out opportunities to share your personal story in a way that inspires and empowers others. Your vulnerability can plant seeds of change and help those who feel alone in their struggles. Conclusion: Maintaining a balanced and intentional approach is essential for success in high-performance endeavors, whether in athletics, entrepreneurship, or parenting. This balance helps manage the demands of each role while fostering personal growth and well-being. By staying focused and purposeful, individuals can achieve long-term success without sacrificing their overall quality of life.

2022 Professional Fighters League featherweight runner-up Bubba Jenkins feels like a different fighter this year and believes his moment to shine has come. Bubba Jenkins (20-6, 6-2 PFL) started the 2023 Regular Season on the right foot after defeating long-term rival Chris Wade in a much-heated rematch. In their first clash, Wade took home the victory after outpointing the “Bad Man” on all scorecards. In their 2023 PFL 1 rematch, former Brave Combat Federation titleholder Jenkins proved his wrestling pedigree was too much to handle for Wade, leading to a unanimous decision victory for the “Bad Man." Now that Jenkins has evened the score with “The Long Island Killer,” he is looking ahead, and while he doesn't exclude that the rubber match with Wade might happen sooner or later, he is entirely focusing on joining the short-listed club of PFL featherweight champions in the likes of Lance Palmer, Movlid Khaybulaev and Brendan Loughnane. “Any one of those 145-pounders can get it, honestly. I'm in a different platform, “Bad Man” vs. “Bad Man,” like we've been saying. Last year in the finals, our emotions got the best of us. We are looking forward to getting any other 145-pounders that even won or lost. At the end of the day, Movlid and Loughnane are probably the two front runners because they have a belt each, and I don't, so any one of them can get it, but I want it to mean something. I want it to matter. The next round is just a regular season match, so don't make sense to fight one of those guys then, but anybody can get it this year. Man, I'm really in another place.”(00:00) Intro(00:42) Aiming to win the championship this year(00:58) Celebrating his victory (02:47) Defeating Wade(03:43) Being happy for having vindicated the defeat(05:04) Whether Wade has done enough to earn his respect(06:33) His thoughts on the Wade trilogy (07:22) Looking to face Loughnane again (08:24) The story behind his tattoo ‘relentless' (09:24) Outro

Welcome to the 6th Round Retro Post-Fight Show. This is the show that digs into the archives and gives you a comprehensive review of classic MMA events, that span as far back as UFC 1. Join Eddie Mercado & Victor Rodriguez as they delve into the world of the PFL (Professional Fighter's League) 2018 Championship Event this week, straight out of the archives of yesteryear. So let's take a trip back to Mon, Dec 31, 2018. The guys will explore the inaugural championship MMA event for the 2018 PFL season, entitled: ‘PFL 2018 Championship', aka: ‘PFL 11' – complete with results, analysis, and of course a few laughs. The event was broadcast live on New Year's Eve (Dec 31, 2018) as mentioned, LIVE from the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in NYC, NY. For those of you not in the know, the PFL is the first major MMA organization in which individual athletes compete in a regular season, post-season and championship, rather than on a year-round basis; putting on fights across six weight-divisions: featherweight, women's lightweight, lightweight, welterweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight. These events are held within a ten-sided MMA cage known as the ‘SmartCage', adhering to the unified rules of MMA, with the exception of prohibiting any elbow strikes. For more on their Fight Format and Point System, which determines the championship series outcomes, read here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_Fighters_League#Fight_format_and_point_system The event was the eleventh and final event of the 2018 season. Each champion in the six weight classes was crowned and won a championship prize of $1 million each. For this debut season they opened the fighter pool at the beginning of the season with 72 fighters across their six weight-classes, competing in seven regular season events. The top eight in each division squared off in single elimination, bracket-style playoff fights. Overall, we had a total of seven bouts, with five of them ending in finishes, resulting in six new millionaires (prior to taxes, of course), and including one two-time Olympic Gold Medalist in her third MMA fight. The event had what TV Ratings averaging 204,000 viewers. If you would like to watch the event, it can be found in the PFL Archives OR via the Official PFL YouTube Channel under the names of the fighters of each bout. Join us to rediscover all the action and discuss as we go along! Let's check it out! Matt Brown melted Dhiego Lima, which gives Kurt even more reason to call for a Matt Brown vs. Nick Diaz fight. A boy can dream, right?
