In episode 104 we begin a very, very special trilogy of episodes in which we'll head to the USA, to somewhere synonymous with all things creepy, ghostly, and witchy. This place was the scene of unease, irrational panic, and mass hysteria in the late 17th century, and what followed has left a stain on this town In this episode I will speak to an expert on the witch trials of 1692, and the legacy left by the murder of 14 women and 6 men, all of whom were guilty of nothing whatsoever. I will then guide you on a tour through the haunted locations to be found here, and in this episode, and the two that will follow – we will visit over 20 locations, as fascinating as they are terrifying. So join me and let us ask together, just how haunted is Salem? Thanks so much to Liah for her incredible insight into the Witch Trials that occurred here, and being so generous with her time. This is framed around the war between Israel and Hamas, now in its seventh month. Three people in Israel share their experiences with host James Reynolds. Avi, Lianne and Liah describe what it was like when Iran launched drones and missiles at their country and how the Hamas-led attack of 7 October continues to impact every moment of their lives.
Liah's story of hope is one you don't want to miss! She speaks with such honesty, understanding, and wisdom about dpdr, existential thoughts, driving anxiety, fear of losing control, and fear of postpartum psychosis. Through the three principles understanding Liah realized that there was nothing wrong with her and there was actually nothing she needed to fix. She realized how much easier it is to let your thinking flow when you know how common certain anxious/intrusive thoughts are. Now she knows deeply when her thoughts are distorted and she just leaves her thinking alone. Today, Liah's thoughts flow and she doesn't consider herself to have anxiety or ocd. She feels confident and comfortable driving and staying alone with her children.

Can you still show up, sparkling in the face of adversity? Picture this: living in a homeless shelter, and still, your mother tells you to put on your sparkling earrings because YOU decide who gets to show up today. Do you let the darkness of your circumstances impact your destiny? Or do you rise above? It is my honor to deliver this encore episode with Valencia Key Jewelry founder, Lia Valencia Key, as we celebrate Black History Month and the female black-owned businesses who shine their light of possibility to people everywhere. Lia shares her incredible journey from homelessness to becoming a successful jewelry designer and QVC mogul. Lia discusses the influence of her mother's words and her philosophy of choosing joy and radiating light, which is reflected in her jewelry designs. She talks about the importance of gratitude, perseverance, and self-leadership, as well as the role of mentors and a supportive community in her success. Lia also touches on her beliefs about wealth, the power of fear, and her commitment to emotional well-being and compassion in her work and life. About Lia Valencia Key, CEO of Valencia Key Jewelry Raised in an impoverished Philadelphia neighborhood, Lia Valencia Key lived in a homeless shelter with her mother, sister, and brother in a room she describes as the size of a broom closet. “My mom told me my predicament did not determine my destiny. She believed I had a light inside that I should never let dim. She encouraged me to never leave the house without wearing my sparkling earrings because they would serve as reminders of the light within me.” Lia went on to rise above her challenges and attained a master's degree, became a licensed cosmetologist and stylist. “I learned that all dreams are possible, and my mother's words inspired me to choose joy and radiate my light.” Those keys to happiness are the messages she spreads through Valencia Key Jewelry today. The mission of Valencia Key Jewelry is for all wearers to not only choose joy and light but to also shine and reflect that light outwardly, as to positively affect all of those around them. A resonating message of Valencia Key Jewelry is “If I can, you can.” The ethos of the brand is a stylized key, meant to represent the philosophy that Joy and gratitude are the keys to happiness. It is the center of the design and life philosophy. Lia reaches back to where she comes from going to women's homeless shelters and educating on the Key to Light -how to rise out of rough environments. We explore the fascinating topic of creating a stormproof home and a stormproof mindset in this energizing episode of the Jennifer J. Hammond Podcast. Jennifer, a certified real estate agent, instructor, lecturer, and best-selling writer, is joined by the motivational Liah, who shares her amazing experience and expertise. Liah's skill at building sturdy homes for less than $50,000 in less than 30 days is a metaphor for creating a life that is storm-resistant, not just a conversation about architecture. They go over how to begin with choosing the appropriate land and how to deal with the difficulties of permits and inspections. Liah's do-it-yourself approach to plumbing, wiring, and other tasks goes beyond simple house renovation to include empowering people to take ownership of their lives. But more than just physical structures are at play in this episode. Liah and Jennifer go deeply into the idea of having a "stormproof mindset," which is crucial for overcoming obstacles in both life and real estate. They impart insightful knowledge on developing oneself, getting past mental obstacles, and maintaining composure in the face of difficulty. As they talk about these revolutionary concepts, Jennifer's excitement for discovering "yay" in daily life is evident. This episode is a must-listen if you're interested in real estate, do-it-yourself home building, personal development, or are just looking for motivation to face the obstacles in your own life!

I met Liah whilst spilling my guts in meme form about my life as a paraplegic. At the time, she was an intern on a spinal ward, and wanted to know what the experience was like, in order to gain a better perspective. Since then we have become good friends and the idea for this episode started. Liah has been able to spill her guts, and does so in this episode, about her life growing up in Australia as the daughter of a vietnamese "boat person". This episode is about those struggles and the interesting perspective Liah gained from growing up with her unique circumstances. We talk about how recovery from a spinal injury is a lot like learning a language. and how it can take a lot of guts. We get to talk about some medical slang and why the word, "guts"makes its way into our language. We talk about similar expressions that relate to revealing something and divulging information. We've taken this opportunity to spill our guts a little bit. I hope you appreciate it! EPISODE 82: Liah Alonso, musical amazon, wields her guitar wherever she goes and lights up the room with her smile. Her memorable lyrics and catchy melodies evoke a quirky loveliness you can't help but adore. Although she has been known to write a fierce, tear-jerking break-up song now and again, she much prefers to portray the irony of our society and the strange times we are living in with humor and soul. Memorable songs like “The High Heel Blues”, “Self-Help Guru Goddess”, “Unsolicited Dick Pic”, and “Ser Mujer” will stay with you forever. Liah tours and records internationally and releases music in multiple languages. Most recently in 2022, Liah was part of a Latin Grammy nominated album for her collaboration with Mexican Rock royalty La Gusana Ciega. She has released music in Spanish, French and Portuguese on her travels as a musical cultural explorer. Some people pick up souvenirs when they travel, Liah pick's up a band and writes a song for us all to enjoy. Liah has come a long way from her start as a subway performer in downtown NYC. In her nearly two decades as an independent working artist, Liah has released several albums under LEFT ON RED and many collaborations across genres and cultures. She has shared stages with Tom Morello, Jackson Browne, La Gusana Ciega, Cypress Hill, Run DMC, War & Treaty, The Mavericks and more. Most recently, Liah performed at SXSW, The Pepsi Center Stadium in Mexico City, City Winery in New York, House Of Blues in New Orleans and The Sandy Beaches Music Cruise. liahalonso.comContact us: makingsoundpodcast.comFollow on Instagram: @makingsoundpodcastFollow on Twitter: @JannKloseBandJoin our Facebook GroupPlease support the show with a donation, thank you for listening!

How have the people of Venice, Italy buried their dead over the centuries? Founded in the 5th century and spread over 118 small islands, Venice became a major maritime power in the 10th century. Some of these Ordinary Extraordinary Venetians were buried in a crypt beneath Basilica di San Marco, while others were relegated to burial grounds on two different islands; the Island of San Michele and the Jewish cemetery on the Lido. Join Jennie and Dianne as they delve into the history of Venice and and their burial grounds.Resources used to research this episode include:Toth, Susan Allen. Originally from Seoul, Liah was studying architecture and feeling like she didn't really fit into the mold of South Korea. She decided to explore the idea of going into the beauty industry and released her first YouTube video. Not too long later, Liah Yoo is now a beauty guru and has amassed a following of over 1 million. But she wouldn't stop there. In 2017, Liah had a “lightbulb moment” and realized that the skincare market was overwhelming and oversaturated with products that created new skin problems rather than making skin healthier. She decided to launch Krave Beauty, a sustainable brand with a simple array of products designed with only the consumer in mind. https://kravebeauty.com/ Subscribe to our Newsletter! https://findingfounders.co/subscribe Website: findingfounders.co Follow Sam: https://www.instagram.com/samueldonner/ Follow Finding Founders IG: https://www.instagram.com/findingfounderspodcast/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/finding-founders/support

In our first episode of 2022, Conor sits down with Liah Yoo. A powerhouse YouTuber, Liah is the founder and CEO of KraveBeauty, the sustainable beauty brand dedicated to demystifying skincare. We start the episode by hearing where Liah's interest in beauty came from, and learn why she decided to launch her own YouTube channel in 2011. Liah shares her “trial and error” strategies for expanding her YouTube audience to over one million subscribers, before discussing how she built KraveBeauty's community by prioritizing stakeholders over shareholders. We then dive into why Liah initially set out to create KraveBeauty, and explore the brand's mission-driven ethos. To close the show, Liah opens up about some difficult lessons she learned personally and professionally in 2021, and outlines her goals for the new year.

We are joined today by Jason Denzel of Dragonmount again, because we talked for so long that the chapter had to be split into two parts. Illian gets a terrifying lightshow to accompany the thunder of an invading army pouring through giant gateways. The Saldaeans take the city without much fanfare, while Rand and Sammael get into a duel that wrecks the king's and council's palaces before taking their fight to Shadar Logoth instead. Trollocs and Myrddraal are sneaking about fearfully, Liah reappears briefly, and Rand falls through a floor. Before he can die an inglorious death in a lost basement, a mysterious wanderer (aka Moridin) arrives to save him, and they end up crossing balefire streams when Mashadar shows up. Rand makes a final attempt to kill Sammael but has to kill Liah instead, letting Mashadar take out Sammael in a way that we find generally unsatisfying. Rand returns to Illian and is presented with the Laurel Crown/Crown of Swords.
