Even as the face of Starbucks, Gogo admits he doesn't drink coffee — he's naturally wired thanks to his mom's pregnancy cravings for cola and strawberry yogurt. But for Pol and Patrik? He drinks Armenian coffee… and calls it “extra Black.” Gogo spills the tea on his career glow-up: a new commercial with Jennifer Coolidge, acting in Shameless, and two seasons on The Righteous Gemstones with Danny McBride, Walton Goggins, and John Goodman. Anora is the story of Brooklyn, New York exotic dancer, Anora, who meets Ivan, the son of a Russian oligarch at the strip club. They impulsively marry, and once the news reaches Ivan's parents, their henchmen kidnap Ani in order to force her and Ivan to get the marriage annulled. Anora won the 2024 Palme d'Or at Cannes, and is a potential 2025 Oscar nominee. Cinematographer Drew Daniels first started working with director Sean Baker on the film Red Rocket. Drew was a fan of Baker's for years- he liked his sensibility and humanity, and his unconventional ethos behind his filmmaking approach. Drew attended the University of Texas film school, where filmmakers Robert Rodriguez and Richard Linklater are alums. He appreciated the UT film program's independent, DIY approach. When Drew had the opportunity to work with Baker on Red Rocket, he said yes before he even read the script. “What's so refreshing about working with Sean is, you're flying by the seat of your pants, but you're also the leader of this passionate little rag tag army,” says Drew. Drew and Baker began talking about Anora during the editing of Red Rocket. Baker had a very specific idea of what he wanted, so they began testing and research scouts very early, driving to locations and discussing the movie before the script was fully written. Rather than an extensive shotlist, Drew and Baker scouted and blocked out scenes on the shoot locations. The film's striking imagery, from gritty urban landscapes to opulent mansions, was shot on Kodak 35mm film with Lomo anamorphic lenses. “Anora is different than a lot of Sean's films, because Sean's films often deal with people who are on the fringes, or people who are in a lower socioeconomic standing,” says Drew. “It takes on oligarch wealth and opulence, so it needed to be a bigger, more magical format- something that will fully embrace the scope of that mansion.” Choosing to film on 35 elevated the story of an exotic dancer like Ani into something beautiful and elegant, but Drew also wanted to reflect her attitude and scrappiness. He and Baker were influenced by 1970's New York films such as The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, to find the right amount of gritty imperfection. “Sean is a social realist filmmaker, but he wants his films to have a look and style,” says Drew. “He's very visual, and we constantly talk about the edit, the pacing, the energy, how it's going to cut.” Find Drew Daniels: Instagram @drewalandaniels Anora is currently in theaters, on VOD, and will be available to stream on Hulu. Episode 72: Chronic Conditions, Pain & Positivity with Julie Taylor I am so honored to introduce Julie Taylor. Julie is an Endo and IC Warrior who's passionate about mindset as medicine. Endo is an abbreviation for endometriosis and IC stands for Interstitial Cystitis (a painful bladder syndrome). While healing with these chronic conditions, she learned the power of crystals and energy to heal and how using a positive mindset as a tool to help manage her moods and emotions helped her body build resilience. Julie's formal degrees are in writing and early childhood ed, though the innate cheerleader at home in her heart drives her to write words, she hopes will spark a mood or mindset that might brighten things for others. Julie is the author of a children's book, Blue Hissy Highness and the Shiny Stones (you can buy that here). The book focuses on how a positive mindset can reframe and heal. It also reminds children that we can move toward mutual acceptance and forgiveness, but also the very adult reminder that acceptance isn't a one-and-done ideal—a lesson we need to revisit as we age. Julie also tends a website and an online space called Stone Spelling & Witchery, which is also the name of her private Facebook group Stone Spelling & Witchery to connect and share the metaphysical and mystical, celebrate earth and moon cycles, share spells, post favorite crystals, chat about witchiness, and ask questions. Julie curates a beautiful community that serves as a magical hub for joy and positivity. In this episode, Julie and I talk about living with chronic conditions and chronic pain, how we manage our spirit during times of flares. We talk about positivity, staying positive, toxic positivity or not toxic positivity, the benefits and downfalls of emotional bypassing, and what Julie has terms LoMo—or how to manage Low Moods and shift them to help with chronic conditions. Honestly, this is such an awesome, refreshing conversation. As someone who has to manage many chronic autoimmune conditions, I find simply speaking my truth about living with pain and fatigue can be important.

For over three decades, the name Lomography has been synonymous with experimental, DIY analogue photography. Started as a group of curious students after the fall of the Berlin Wall, it has grown into a worldwide community and a major source of cameras and film. My chat with Birgit Buchart of Lomography USA covers a lot of Lomo history, innovation and creativity.

Le hubiera gustado que España fuera uno de los países incluidos en aquella encuesta mundial de Open Society que arrojó que el 42% de los menores de 36 años piensa que una dictadura militar sería una buena forma de gobierno, pero para eso está el CIS catalán, que enseña la misma consonancia: los jóvenes de entre 16 y 24 años son los más dispuestos a renunciar a la democracia. Es vital recordarlo, ahora que la ministra Sira Rego propone rebajar la edad adolescente del voto. Él va más allá y no solo propone recortar esa edad por abajo sino, dadas ciertas senilidades, por arriba. Así quedaría, digamos entre 25 y 70 años, un lomo magro y vibrante de los ciudadanos que deberían decidir. Es a los votantes, precisamente, a los que deben pedir cuentas de que en las próximas elecciones vascas gane el nacionalismo (el más abyecto, además, como parece), ¡pero no lo harán! Es claro que los políticos los tratan como clientes y el cliente siempre tiene la razón, pero ¿y los periodistas?
