A few days from scheduled release, we're anticipating a rush of accolades and interest in what comes next. After years of performing at arenas and concert halls, clubs and festivals, Anthony has acquired a wealth of experience that accompanies him as you flashback to his highly successful stint as lead singer with the Imperials on a few choice cuts. Following the release of this work, expect the entertainment icon and his band to visit a city near you with a live show embracing many of the tunes contained in this two-volume cache — and more. As an all-around artist in the studio and on stage, he has been and remains an inspiration to many larger-than-life- acts, past and present: Silk Sonic, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and Michael Jackson, to name a few. Nearly every rock, pop, R&B, and jazz act who attained star status attribute a slice of their inspiration to the influence of Little Anthony as a lead vocalist and a solo artist. Alive and well, he is eager to take his show on the road and share as much as audiences can enjoy, including numbers from the Anthology. Like a silver fox, he roams the stage, eyeing each participant as they sing along with the seasoned crooner and his dynamic band. Recently, the Brooklyn, NY, native said: “I'm anxious to share these songs with folks everywhere, and I'm so proud of the entire team that helped put it all together.” This is only the beginning of a succession of projects on tap for the foreseeable future. He is busily working on other productions to be named later. His new autobiography Little Anthony -- My Journey, My Destiny is not the traditional rags-to-riches -- cock-and-bull story and not the aimless tale landing everywhere. It is a culmination of a lifetime of near embryonic experiences unlike many others -- and he is here to talk about it. But whether sipping a cup of tea, tearfully empathizing with the subject, or pondering a musical concept, there's something for everyone in this one. One more thing: the fact that Anthony rhymes with anthology sounds cute and is coincidental, but the sterling quality of this 40-track-production is not(!) borne of luck. “Little Anthony” Gourdine has brightened many a day for aficionados of ‘God's musical gift to mankind' everywhere with indescribably beautiful music that fills our hearts with Joy! .............. https://www.harmonystreet.biz/ Phil C. It's February, and in honour of Valentine's day and all the lovey-dovey, kissy-wissy, hanky-panky kind of stuff that accompanies it, the gang at ILOM is taking a look at some film romances! First up is this 1955 film, based on the autobiographical novel by Dr. Han Suyin. In this one you have the always great William Holden, the dubiously cast Jennifer Jones, and a magnificent tale of love against the sort of obstacles that are pretty hard to surmount. Oh, and you have THE SONG. Have a listen, bring a box of kleenex, and let's have a time!
Jessie Gender joins Vera of Council of Geeks to take a look at the sci-fi series Farscape one episode at a time. Season 4, episode 4 - Something a little closer to a traditional Farscape episode as the displaced crew of Moya stumble across a cache of supplies on a lava planet and then things go array, because it's Farscape.
En El Guateque estamos de vuelta de las vacaciones, que viene a ser el fin del verano, las despedidas. Hoy despedimos a JUANA GINZO.

In Episode Three, “A Many-Splendored Thing,” we meet the Design Team, who are finally awake and learning what they’ve gotten themselves into; Cyrus requires James’s assistance with a science project; and Quill heads upstairs to check on the algae vats and for, obviously, absolutely no other reason involving Mandry at all. We learn more about Mandry, the relationship between Kolian and Zei, and what Zahava really feels about all of them. The transcript is available here.Content Note: this episode includes a discussion of an emotionally abusive relationship from the perspective of a survivor [40:35 - 42:19]. It also mentions a pandemic in the context of in-universe fiction [33:20 - 34:15]. And, as always, there is some swearing. A lot of it really. This is a collaborative, ensemble project. This time on our Jennifer Jones ‘cast it's two movies based on novels by Communists, bafflingly made during the early Cold War era, one a failure and one a hit. We start with the failure, the original Dirtbag Left hang-out movie, John Huston's BEAT THE DEVIL (1953). It was based on a novel by Claud Cockburn (one-time Stalin apologist), with script contributions from Cockburn and a hot young novelist named Truman Capote. Then we turn to another critique of colonialism, Henry King's Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing (1955), based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Han Suyin (future Mao apologist). It's a radical field day! Musical zombies rise from the dead to sing an evening of ‘50’s pop standards. Let me try that again. On February 4, 1964, The Plaids, an eastern Pennsylvania-based vocal quartet, were headed for a major gig at the Fusel-Lounge at the Harrisburg Airport Hilton when their cherry red Mercury was broadsided by a bus full of Catholic schoolgirls. The girls, who escaped unscathed, were on their way to see the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. The Plaids went on to that Great Performance Hall in the Sky… or at least the green room of the Great Performance Hall in the Sky. Rather than spend an eternity waiting to “go on”, they make their way back to earth to give the concert that never was. That is the plot upon which Stuart Ross and James Raitt hang twenty-four musical standards in their very popular jukebox musical Forever Plaid, running through March 3 at the Lucky Penny Community Arts Center in Napa. Frankie (F. James Raasch), Sparky (Scottie Woodard), Jinx (Michael Scott Wells), and Smudge (David Murphy) were high school friends who dreamed of musical glory. Following the path created by ‘50’s versions of what we now refer to as “boy bands” (The Four Lads, The Four Aces, The Crew-Cuts, etc.), they formed The Plaids and specialized in four-part harmonies. And that’s what you’ll hear over the Michael Ross-directed show’s one hour and 45-minute running time. “Three Coins in the Fountain”, “Sixteen Tons”, “Chain Gang”, and “Love is a Many Splendored Thing” are just some of the 20-plus songs performed by the crisply costumed gents (courtesy Barbara McFadden) with matching choreography by Woodard. Music is nicely performed by a trio consisting of music director Craig Burdette (keyboards), Quentin Cohen (drums), and Alan Parks (bass). The guys are good with each one getting a solo shot to go along with the group work. Their stock characters (the shy one, the funny, etc.) banter with each other between numbers and amusingly engage with the audience. The comedic numbers are particularly well done with the show’s highlight being a three-minute recreation of The Ed Sullivan Show, though it helps to have some familiarity with that show. The same can be said for the music. Yes, it’s a trip down memory lane, but if toe-tapping, hand-squeezing and perpetual grinning are any indications, Forever Plaid hits all the right notes with an audience willing to make the trip. ’Forever Plaid' plays through March 3rd at the Lucky Penny Community Arts Center in Napa. Thursday evening performances are at 7pm; Fridays and Saturdays are at 8pm. There’s a Sunday matinee at 2pm. For more information, go to luckypennynapa.com

Aired Wednesday, 26 July 2017, 8:00 PM ET Dr. Fred Nour, M.D. - True Love: How to Use Science to Understand Love Lyricist Paul Francis Webster penned the popular classic, “Love is a Many Splendored Thing.” Elizabeth Barret Browning’s Sonnet 43 asked, “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.” Mick Jagger sang, “Love is a Bitch.” Poetry, music, literature and the arts have extolled the ups and downs of love since humanity first began to express its feelings about the topic. But perhaps the Bard himself, William Shakespeare, came closest to the truth when he said, “Love looks not with the eyes but with the mind and therefore is wing’d cupid painted blind.” What is the true connection between the mind, or more specifically the brain and love? Does modern neuroscience have answers to the story and the glory of love? My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Dr. Fred Nour, M.D., says there is exacting science behind love and that awareness of how this works can lead to true and lasting love. Dr. Nour is a nationally and internationally renowned neurologist who is certified in both neurology and neurophysiology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of London. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, The Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics, the American Academy of Neurology and many others. He was named one of America’s Top Doctors six times as well as many other awards. He joins me this week to share his new book, True Love: How to Use Science to Understand Love.
