These songs consistently emanate from airwaves and are often lauded in music journals worldwide. Songs such as “Goin' Out Of My Head,” “I'm On The Outside Looking In,” “Hurt So Bad,” and “Take Me Back,” are simply four of a compendium of platinum hits performed by the extraordinarily gifted performer on national television and heard on classic and Top-40 radio spanning numerous decades. His latest blockbuster release is no will-o'-the-wisp, stab in the dark recording; it is a well-thought-out and substantive diary of songs, including many covers bearing his unmistakable vocal imprint. Producer Michael Miller spared no effort in tirelessly orchestrating a project that promises an enduring shelf-life titled LITTLE ANTHONY & THE MUSIC — AN ANTHOLOGY. Songs include the classics “A Lovely Way To Spend An Evening, ”Love is a Many Splendored Thing,” “What A Difference A Day Makes,” and “Who's Sorry Now.” Forty memorable selections should keep you and your significant other reminiscing for some time to come. And if you're not spoken for, you can enjoy it all to yourself for as long as you can imagine! There is something for everyone in these forever volumes. And I promise you: The fun verbal exchanges in the narration between Anthony and the producer are insightful as twists and turns unravel in the development of this contemporary musical masterpiece. Despite many of the songs being standards, you'll notice his articulate style blessing each track. Consider the infusive single and premier release "New York State of Mind." While some scratch their heads in wonderment upon hearing this cover for the first time, thinking: "That voice is familiar." And after a slight pause, like a ton of bricks it hits them: "That's Little Anthony!" For sure. And then they go on praising his vocal acumen, deservedly so. His R&B-laced rendering of "New York State of Mind" is a divergence from the perennial recording and sports an infectious 42nd Street vibe. It's performed so well that composer Billy Joel is likely to tip his hat. A popular legend recently said: "The Man's still got it!" Nearly every rock, pop, R&B, and jazz act who attained star status attribute a slice of their inspiration to the influence of Little Anthony as a lead vocalist and a solo artist. Alive and well, he is eager to take his show on the road and share as much as audiences can enjoy, including numbers from the Anthology. Like a silver fox, he roams the stage, eyeing each participant as they sing along with the seasoned crooner and his dynamic band. Recently, the Brooklyn, NY, native said: “I'm anxious to share these songs with folks everywhere, and I'm so proud of the entire team that helped put it all together.” This is only the beginning of a succession of projects on tap for the foreseeable future. He is busily working on other productions to be named later. His new autobiography Little Anthony -- My Journey, My Destiny is not the traditional rags-to-riches -- cock-and-bull story and not the aimless tale landing everywhere. It is a culmination of a lifetime of near embryonic experiences unlike many others -- and he is here to talk about it. But whether sipping a cup of tea, tearfully empathizing with the subject, or pondering a musical concept, there's something for everyone in this one. One more thing: the fact that Anthony rhymes with anthology sounds cute and is coincidental, but the sterling quality of this 40-track-production is not(!) borne of luck. “Little Anthony” Gourdine has brightened many a day for aficionados of ‘God's musical gift to mankind' everywhere with indescribably beautiful music that fills our hearts with Joy! .............. https://www.harmonystreet.biz/ Phil C. A popular legend recently said: "The Man's still got it!" A few days from scheduled release, we're anticipating a rush of accolades and interest in what comes next. After years of performing at arenas and concert halls, clubs and festivals, Anthony has acquired a wealth of experience that accompanies him as you flashback to his highly successful stint as lead singer with the Imperials on a few choice cuts. Following the release of this work, expect the entertainment icon and his band to visit a city near you with a live show embracing many of the tunes contained in this two-volume cache — and more. As an all-around artist in the studio and on stage, he has been and remains an inspiration to many larger-than-life- acts, past and present: Silk Sonic, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and Michael Jackson, to name a few. Nearly every rock, pop, R&B, and jazz act who attained star status attribute a slice of their inspiration to the influence of Little Anthony as a lead vocalist and a solo artist. • Okay, so in our experience, of course, I cannot include all of the contractors, but from our experience, and at least my customer's experience, the way we see the old generation of construction is contractors that don't really communicate all the time, don't back up they're word, they don't show up, they're not really driven by the result, they just do what they're told to do, and it creates a lot of issues between the end user and the contactor. Sometimes the customer says, I want A... The contractor of thinks, Okay, he wants A... To me, A is actually B, for example, so that's what I'm going to do, and I will do it in my own pace, whenever I want, whenever I can, if I can get on the call, yes or no. Of course, not all of them, I have to say, not all of them, but in our experience, or customer's experience. When we say a new world of construction, we mean taking everything... When we start from the last part, the result, what is it that you want to have now, it's not enough to just describe it because both you can integrate words or let's say product in different ways. So basically, once we have a rendering for a very clear picture of what the customer wants, then we start all the planning phase and we guide them through all the purchasing phase, which is very important, especially now with all the supply chain and issues and delay. (04:16)• First of all, any customer calls us or someone that is inquiring about the service will talk to me. Again, it's very, very personal, and it's very important for people to know that when they call I pick up the phone and they talk to me, not my secretary, not my office manager, not by Forman, they talk to me. I want to identify their needs and see exactly what I want to do, and I will be the one to meet them. Obviously, once we get a better idea of what needs to be done, kind of like I would call it a grand plan, then they will meet David. David will guide them through the process of planning and design, and he will create, together with our architect, he would create the blueprint and he would present it to them, and he would walk them through it. (11:15)• First of all, this is something that I struggle in the beginning, David agrees and insists on doing it, it starts with planning. Obviously, I have a babysitter, I have a nanny, my kids are in daycare, but still I'm a Mom, so after noon, five to eight, I am a full-time Mom. Of course, then I pick up the phone or whatever, I mean, but I'm trying to be really with my kids, everything is in our calendar, as crazy as it sounds, maybe not for you, not that crazy, but we plan ahead everything, we wake up every morning very, very early to work out, I care about that. The kids wake up around 6:30 or 7, and then we have our hour, hour and a half to spend some time together. They go to daycare, we go to work sometimes earlier, and when they come back, I always have someone here with me so we can give attention to both at the different times. We have date nights on the calendar, we try to plan our weekends very carefully, so we have time to create nice experience, or go out with the kids and spend some family time. (16:20)• So we do remodeling, but mostly complete, completely remodeled, and new construction. It can be used garage conversion, custom homes, whatever it is. I would say, let's start for me more than if it's not structural, basically, if the customer does not want to knock down any lumbering walls or an opening to the exterior, it can take anywhere between three to five months, it depends on the scope. If we touch every single piece of the house, bathrooms. kitchen, flowing, painting, roof, exterior, landscaping.. It will be more towards, I would say, five months. Let's say, I'm going to focus on the interior because the exterior is a whole different story. Let's say customers with a three bedrooms, two baths wants to do pretty much everything inside, it will be depending on if they want just cosmetic, if they want electrical, plumbing... But they are somewhere in between $100,000 to $200,000. (25:56) ABOUT JADE SCHMAIA:What It's Like Being a Woman in Construction?Of all the people working in the construction industry, women only make up 10.9%. And there are even fewer on the front lines of job sites. But women are paving their way in this male-dominated industry. One such woman is Jade Malka, the co-founder of DYM Builders Group in California. This full-service contractor works in both remodeling and new construction throughout Southern California, and has seen great growth in recent years.Malka shares that she comes from a long line of entrepreneurs and real estate investors. Her father was an engineer, and her uncle was a real estate agent. Her grandparents always owned real estate and would sometimes flip properties. In Israel, she served as a real estate attorney for a year before working as a real estate agent in Florida for two years. Her job in Florida made her realize that she was more interested in the construction itself than she was the real estate side of the job. “I worked with a lot of foreign investment that basically purchased properties in order to fix and flip or fix and rent,” she comments. “And since they were foreign and lived out of state, or out of town, I had to manage the construction for them. So that's when I realized I wanted to do construction.”Malka says that her favorite part of her job is acting as the “house doctor,” diagnosing the problem the homeowners are having with their home and then fixing it. Remodeling houses — especially in the last two years during COVID, when more homeowners were spending time at home and finding ways to change their homes — has always been more fun for her than new construction.“We do both [remodeling and new construction], but I like the part with the remodeling better, because you really change people's lives,” she says. After starting her own company, Malka found that other people in the industry were often surprised when she showed up on a job site alone, or went to a vendor to order materials. Oftentimes, people thought that she was somebody's assistant or the wife of the contractor. “I'd be walking into the house and they wouldn't close the door behind me, because they didn't understand that I'm here by myself. They always thought that I was waiting for somebody because I'm the assistant, or that I'm the designer,” she says. “And even when they hired me, they always tested me.” She's learned to not take the comments personally, and has found that the more confident in herself she is, the less people question her authority. Malka knows that she's good at what she does, and as a result doesn't field as many doubting questions from clients or other contractors. “Slowly, slowly, because I was so focused and I had such a strong belief in what I do, they don't ask me those questions anymore,” she shares.Malka doesn't get to work with other women in construction too often, but loves when she gets the opportunity. She's worked with one of her friends, Hila Hemo, contractor at Construction by Maya in Calabasas, on several projects and hopes to continue to work together in the future. “And it's amazing, working with a woman is amazing because we have attention to detail. We listen to the client when he talks, we hear what he has to say,” she says. “We find that a lot of women feel a lot more comfortable when we are in the area to say their opinion, to express their opinion, to say something is wrong or not as they planned.” DYM Builders Group also prides itself on having several women working both in the office and in the field. The team's quality controller, who communicates between different teams and crews, is also a woman. David Malka, co-founder of DYM, notes that he's found women to be better in supervision roles than their male counterparts. Nutmeg's hidden power: Helping the liver Nan-Jing University (China), May 9, 2022 Smelling nutmeg evokes images of fall, pumpkin pie and hot apple cider. But the spice has been used for years in traditional Chinese medicine to treat gastrointestinal illnesses. Now one group reports in ACS' Journal of Proteome Research that they have figured out how nutmeg helps other organs, specifically the liver. Nutmeg is the seed of the Myristica fragrans tree, which is commonly found in Indonesia, and has been used to treat asthma, rheumatic pain, toothaches and infections. In the laboratory, researchers have shown that nutmeg can fight hyperlipidaemia, hyperglycemia, heart tissue damage and hepatotoxicity. The researchers used a mouse animal model of liver toxicity to test the mechanism behind nutmeg's protective effects. Metabolomics analyses showed that nutmeg likely protected against liver damage by restoring the mice to more healthy levels of various lipids and acylcarnitines. In addition, the team found that a specific compound in nutmeg, myrislignan, had a strong protective effect against liver damage. Research shows numerous health benefits of Modified Citrus Pectin Miami Childrens Hospital and Dharma Biomedical, April 29, 2022 New research published in the journal BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine shows Modified Citrus Pectin (MCP) packs a powerful immune punch. The study uses human blood samples to demonstrate the ability of a specific form of Modified Citrus Pectin to very significantly induce and enhance the benefits of T-cytotoxic cells and human Natural Killer (NK) cells. The NK-cell's cancer killing activity was demonstrated in live leukemia cancer cells, uncovering yet another mechanism of MCP's powerful anti-cancer actions. Immune researchers said: “The Modified Citrus Pectin we researched has potential for altering the course of certain viral diseases such as the common cold or other upper respiratory tract viral infections based on the mechanisms of action that were observed in this study. We also found that MCP significantly outperformed other known immune enhancing agents such as medicinal mushrooms.” Specifically, this study highlights MCP's ability to selectively increase cytotoxic immune activity against cancer and infections. B complex may protect against diabetic kidney disease Ain Shams University (Egypt), May 3, 2022 New findings show a protective effect for B vitamin supplementation on the kidney function of children with type 1 diabetes. These findings suggest vitamin B supplementation, in addition to traditional angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor therapy may be a simple, safe and cost-effective strategy for early protection of kidney function, which may improve the long-term quality of life for type-1 diabetes patients.” In the current study, 80 type 1 diabetics between the ages of 12 and 18 years with early signs of diabetic kidney disease and deficient levels of vitamin B12 were given vitamin B complex supplements or no treatment for 12 weeks. At the study's conclusion, children who received B complex exhibited improvement in blood markers of glucose regulation and kidney function. “After 12 weeks of vitamin B complex supplementation in children and adolescents with diabetic kidney disease, we detected lower levels of markers that indicate poor kidney function, suggesting that it had a protective effect and could slow progression of the disease,” Dr Elbarbary reported. Zinc is cancer's worst enemy: This mineral is key to preventing cancer, scientists conclude University of Texas Arlington, May 12, 2022 Consuming zinc might be something that you only think about when cold season approaches given its stellar performance in keeping the common cold at bay, but its value extends far beyond preventing this relatively innocuous problem to something far more serious: fighting cancer. Researchers from the University of Texas at Arlington have discovered the important role zinc can play in preventing cancer, especially the esophageal variety. Although past studies had indicated zinc had a protective effect on the esophagus when it comes to cancer, it wasn't clear why. They found that zinc has the incredibly useful ability to selectively stop the growth of cancerous cells while leaving normal esophageal epithelial cells intact. The researchers say their finding could help improve treatment for esophageal cancer and even provide some insight into how it might be prevented. Pan pointed out that many cancer patients have a zinc deficiency. Dad's involvement with baby early on associated with boost in mental development Imperial College London, King's College London and Oxford University, May 9, 2022 Fathers who interact more with their children in their first few months of life could have a positive impact on their baby's cognitive development. In a study, published in the Infant Mental Health Journal, researchers from Imperial College London, King's College London and Oxford University looked at how fathers interacted with their babies at three months of age and measured the infants' cognitive development more than a year later. They found that babies whose fathers were more engaged and active when playing with them in their initial months performed better in cognitive tests at two years of age. Even as early as three months, these father-child interactions can positively predict cognitive development almost two years later, so there's something probably quite meaningful for later development, and that really hasn't been shown much before.”What's more, the positive link between involved dads and higher infant MDI scores were seen equally whether the child was a boy or a girl, countering the idea that play time with dad is more important for boys than girls, at an early age. Depression linked to memory problems and brain aging University of Miami School of Medicine, May 9, 2022Depression in older adults may be linked to memory problems, according to a study published in the online issue of Neurology. The study also showed that older people with greater symptoms of depression may have structural differences in the brain compared to people without symptoms. The study involved 1,111 people who were all stroke-free with an average age of 71. The majority were Caribbean Hispanic. At the beginning of the study, all had brain scans, a psychological exam and assessments for memory and thinking skills. Their memory and thinking skills were tested again an average of five years later. Researchers found after adjusting for age, race, anti-depressive medications, and other variables, greater symptoms of depression were linked to worse episodic memory. Scores on tests were lower by 0.21 of a standard deviation compared to those without greater symptoms of depression. Episodic memory is a person's ability to remember specific experiences and events.Researchers also found those with greater symptoms of depression had differences in the brain including smaller brain volume as well as a 55 percent greater chance of small vascular lesions in the brain. Trauma-informed practice is a popular topic in the yoga world, and with good reason. Most people have experienced some kind of trauma and if yoga is to be a healing practice, as teachers and practitioners we must take into account what could make a practice unsafe or triggering for folks, including ourselves. But like so much of yoga in the west, trauma-informed conversations can often veer into the dogmatic, as if there was only one way to to make a student feel unsafe, or as if there were set, universal, right and wrong ways of teaching trauma-informed practice. There are certainly some best practices that many experts agree on, but there is also quite a bit of nuance, as there always will be when we're talking about the human experience. And this is why I'm so excited to introduce you to Sangeeta Vallabhan. Sangeeta is a long-time yoga teacher; she has been teaching yoga in NYC since 2003. She began studying trauma-informed yoga with many different teachers in 2013 and pursuing these studies enabled her to better face her own experiences with trauma. Her recovery has inspired her to help others and in 2019, Sangeeta started training teachers in trauma-informed yoga with her own training, solemarch. She just started The Practice Coalition, a non-profit dedicated to providing trauma-informed yoga and to taking care of the teachers who offer it. In this episode you'll hear: about Sangeeta's foundational view of trauma informed practice what Sangeeta feels is most important to offer teachers in trauma-informed training how colonialism shows up in the yoga world and specifically in trauma-informed teaching boundaries that are especially important in trauma informed teaching all about The Practice Coalition and what makes this new organization so special! The nuances of Ethereum bring a lot of opportunities for LeoFinance and the LEO token but they also bring a lot of questions. Hopefully these roundtables have helped you as we approach the launch. Gayle Tzemach Lemmon is a journalist, author and marketing professional currently working in the technology industry at Shield AI as the Chief Marketing Officer. Her two NYT’s bestselling books: The Dressmaker of Khair Khana and Ashley’s War: The Untold Story of a Team of Women Soldiers on the Special Ops Battlefield tell the stories of unsung heroes who showed bravery and resilience in the face of adversity in the midst of violent conflict. These stories of grit and determination especially resonated with Gayle as she was raised by her single mother, a blue collar worker who juggled jobs to pay the bills, and by her grandmother after her mother died, when Gayle was only 12 years old. After graduating magna cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Journalism, Gayle began her professional journey covering presidential politics and politics for ABC News’ Political Unit. After 10 years as a journalist, Gayle decided to take her life in a different direction and go to business school. When her first attempt to get accepted at Harvard Business School was unsuccessful, Gayle prepared for a year. It paid off. And it was during her time at HBS that Gayle began the research on women’s entrepreneurship in the midst of conflict zones that would lead her to write her first book, The Dressmaker of Khair Khana. Following her graduation from Harvard Business School, Gayle served as a Vice President at the global investment firm PIMCO. Most recently, Gayle has moved into a new role as an executive in the technology and AI world at Shield AI an artificial intelligence company focused on using networked robots to protect service members and civilians. Gayle is also a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. According to research, over half of today’s workforce is made up of women professionals, but far less have achieved their goals of landing a top position within their company. Statistics show that by mid-career, these powerful women with leadership potential lose their desire to reach the top midway in their careers. Keep Reading >> ELEANOR BEATON PODCAST EPISODE 14 Click Here For The 7 Critical Career Competencies In this episode, I am going to share with you the top three career derailers that are the most common reasons for great, aspiring women to lose their desire and confidence in landing that top spot. Broaden Your Career Focus Women tend to specialize in specific roles within their company. Specializing in a particular field can all too often limit your chances for successfully landing a top position or becoming the company’s next CEO. Ladies, if you want to become an influential woman leader, you need to learn and appreciate how your organization works as a whole, and to do that, you need to start making lateral moves into unknown territory. Until you learn how your company works as an entity, you won’t be able to lead it. Become a ‘People Person’ – Learn How to Work with People You Don’t Like Being a “people person” does not mean that everyone has to like you – or that you have to like everyone. It means that you have successfully mastered the art of communicating and working with people whose personalities may conflict with your own. Mastering this skill is an incredibly important attribute to have when you are trying to land a top seat in your company or organization. After all, you don’t think Sheryl Sandberg likes everyone she ever worked with at Facebook and Google, do you? Of course not, but by learning how to build solid working relationships with people, it enabled her to become a top women leader. Take Smart Risks Being a CEO often involves taking smart risks. If you want to be a CEO of your company, you need to learn how to get out of your comfort zone and make the decision to take a smart risk. Ask for tough assignments, even if they are only short-term projects. Raise your hand at the next meeting and allow your voice and opinions to be heard. Volunteer new ideas to your boss and ask for new and different roles in the company. Some new positions may require you to accept a demotion, but that’s okay! It will only help your career in the long-run. There are too many women in the workforce playing it safe at work. If you want to be CEO, you cannot be one of them. Get the courage to speak up, take risks, and lead your career YOUR way. Only you have control over the direction of your career. It’s time to get the courage you need to take action and be the Fierce Feminine Leader we all know you can be! If you’d like to learn more about the top 7 career competencies for women CEOs, feel free to click the link below and enter your email address, so we know where to send the checklist on the critical skill sets women need to obtain the top spot in their company. "I have all the defects of other people, yet everything they do seems to me inconceivable." - Emil Cioran, Romanian philosopher, The Trouble With Being Born (1973) This episode is the roots of the Losing Our Religion podcast. It's conversations like this that led to the idea of recording and sharing the beautiful coming together of humans with humans. When Taylor and I first met, we had nothing in common. I had just resigned the pastorate, left everything I had known, and given up on the idea of Christianity as I knew it, and certainly institutional religion as a whole.
