Welcome to The Hangar Z Podcast, brought to you by Vertical Helicasts! In this episode of The Hangar Z Podcast, Mike Calhoun and Jason Quinn from the Real ResQ Podcast speak with James Hickman, the chief pilot at Two Bear Air Rescue. Join us as we unravel the story of Hickman's aviation career, from his humble beginnings in Oregon to the peaks of Montana. The ultimate mission of Two Bear Air Rescue is saving lives. Based near Whitefish, Montana, Two Bear Air Rescue provides world-class aviation support for search-and-rescue operations across the northwest United States. Whitefish philanthropist Michael Goguen supports all costs of this program, leaving zero cost to the taxpayers. Hickman's path to becoming a seasoned pilot wasn't without its twists and turns. After honing his skills as a helicopter and fixed-wing flight instructor in Kalispell, Montana, he immersed himself in the world of backcountry charter flying, where every flight presented its own unique challenges. But it was during his time as an instructor that fate intervened, as Hickman found himself collaborating with the visionaries behind Two Bear Air Rescue, a burgeoning search-and-rescue outfit. As Hickman accumulated flight hours and experience, he seized the opportunity to join Era Helicopters in Alaska, where he had the opportunity to fly above the breathtaking landscapes of Denali National Park. His time in Alaska proved to be not only exhilarating but also transformative, laying the groundwork for his eventual return to Two Bear Air Rescue as a pilot. For eight years now, Hickman has been an integral part of the team, leveraging his expertise to save lives and navigate the rugged terrain of Montana's backcountry. Beyond the cockpit, Hickman embraces the mountain lifestyle, indulging in his passions for skiing, mountain biking, and paragliding. His love for adventure knows no bounds. LEARN THE WISDOM TO BE SUCCESSFUL On this episode of The Game Changing Podcast, we welcome Mike Calhoun, the CEO of the Board of Advisors. The mastermind format brings together a group of individuals committed to improving their craft and sharing their expertise.Mike shares how bringing synergy to community members is a strong catalyst for growth. Just being around people who have achieved the successes you want teaches you by osmosis, and vice versa. This is amplified when you have dedicated advisors who watch you and bring valuable perspectives to the table. Mike also shares anecdotes about his first jobs and how problem-solving is the top skill to his success. GAME-CHANGING NUGGETSMike: A community of advisors makes verification straightforward"There is the opportunity to have that speed of trust because you have an affinity with members, but you also have the ability to quickly verify. It's hard. I mean, in certain, let's call it regular relationships or regular environments, it's hard to know who is the trusted resource."Mike: Learn the wisdom of those who carry even greater weights than you"Sometimes we're like oh my gosh, I can't believe the weight that I'm carrying currently at the moment with taxes and payroll and this and that, and the list goes on. And then sitting across the table who's doing 10 times what you're doing, going through 10 times the crap, and they have wisdom. They have peace, and calm. They have experience."Mike: Problem-solving through situations is the key to success"Investing in yourself so that you can invest in others is how you become valuable. So what I figured out is early on, how do I become valuable to other people? Because as soon as I'm valuable, part of is your presentation of yourself, part of it is that communication, part of it is having the ability to say yes and figure things out and problem-solve because what that does is it gives you experience, and that's all really people want." Mike Calhoun is the Founder and CEO of Board of Advisors, a community for founders, entrepreneurs, CEOs, investors, marketers, e-commerce moguls, business developers, and high-level decision-makers. Mike has a gift for creating opportunities to connect people and cultivating synergistic relationships. In this episode… Anybody can have a great idea. However, there are some key things innovators have to think about when planning to take their ideas to the next level. Here's a helpful hint: nobody can do everything on their own. The process of innovation involves many players, not just the inventor. Not only do you need to have a great idea, but you also need to connect with the right people to accomplish your goals. That's why Mike Calhoun believes that relationships build the foundation for elevating your success. Mike Calhoun, the Founder and CEO of Board of Advisors, is Rich Goldstein's guest in this episode of the Innovations and Breakthroughs Podcast, where they discuss the anatomy of an idea. They also talk about the value of connecting with like-minded people, the percentage of bad ideas Rich sees from inventors, and why you should share your idea with a trusted person. Stay tuned.

Mike has a gift for creating opportunities to connect people and cultivating synergistic relationships. In this episode… Business networks are very valuable to entrepreneurs, yet many toss them aside. Networks can help you connect, develop great relationships, and act as sources of advice for managing growing businesses. By promoting high-level, meaningful conversations among entrepreneurs, these communities can level up your business. However, most business networks and masterminds only meet a few times during the year, limiting how often members meet and network. In a bid to create a better community, Mike Calhoun set out to create Board of Advisors, a group of competent, expert thought leaders that offer real value to each other. In this episode of the Innovations and Breakthroughs Podcast, Rich Goldstein interviews Mike Calhoun, the Founder and CEO of Board of Advisors, about the value of connecting with fellow entrepreneurs through business networks. Mike explains how he dove into entrepreneurship as a kid, the lessons he learned from the different businesses and jobs he had, and his reasons for starting his Board of Advisors business network. Stay tuned.

Mike Calhoun is the CEO and Founder at Board of Advisors, a private, closed-door mastermind with a select group of the nation's most disruptive business owners, real estate investors, technology providers, and marketers. While Mike assembles members from all four corners of the globe to complete powerful meetings each quarter, today he met up with Brad to talk about the importance of carefully cultivating your network, and what happens when a grade-A group is paired with talented leadership. A few highlights from their chat include: At Board of Advisors, our success is a direct result of focus. A lot of people like to diversify. But we set out to be the top mastermind group on earth. Think of what you want to be, and program yourself. Then your team, then your members. One day, someone decides that phrase you keep saying should be on a pen, mug, or t-shirt. Eventually, that phrase is what you become. Start intertwining yourself with the individuals who can get you where you want to be. You become the mirror of those you surround yourself with. When you're not sharp, someone else is. Treat every meeting like you're one introduction away from the person who can help change your life. On the flip side, when you get to a certain level, you need to invest in the people around you. Bring them into the fold. By helping them to improve, you're leveling up your immediate network in a way that pays off over the long term. Leadership is about integrity. If you say something, you have to do it. You have to follow through. Learning to be a leader will carve against you while you're doing it -- but it makes you better, stronger, and more successful over time. The Q4 Board of Advisors Mastermind is October 29th - November 2nd. Quarterly Board of Advisor's events are only for official members and privileged guests. However, if you think you'd be a good fit, fill out the interview form at www.boardofadvisors.com and they'll give you a call!
