Anthony Milewski has two passions: the outdoors and investing. At any moment you might find him skiing in France, fly fishing in Alaska, white water rafting in Oregon, or wide awake in the middle of the night analyzing news releases and financial statements.Anthony realized early on that a truly rewarding career needed to include following his passions. But how to do this? As a Fulbright scholar, he spent time in the former Soviet Union and saw firsthand the changes brought about by the privatization of vast swaths of the regional economies. He also noted the great potential in building companies on the back of these changes and, for a time, was employed by Renaissance Capital in Moscow, Russia, working with entrepreneurs and natural resource companies. Upon graduating from the University of Washington, with a MA in international studies and a JD in law, he took a job at New York-based Skadden, Arps where he became immersed in commodity transactions. Anthony would later transition from Skadden to Firebird Management in New York where he worked in the Global Macro funds.Anthony's time at Firebird had a profound impact on his investment style. He realized that you can “get a call right” but the “timing wrong”. Investing, as much as anything, is about understanding the themes and ideas that shape our world, environment, and capital markets. It was this realization that helped to shape his views on identifying themes, thinking about liquidity, and ultimately making successful investment decisions. No one ever lost money selling for a gain! After leaving Firebird he went on to work with other major funds as a C-level executive specializing in global origination and investment processes. This time cemented his views on risk mitigation and liquidity. After years in the asset management business, Anthony realized it was time to strike out on his own. Along with his business partner, Justin Cochrane, he founded and took public several companies. To date, he has helped raise over a billion dollars for listed companies on various exchanges around the globe. In a sense, this was Act Two of his career. All told, Anthony has served as a founder, advisor, director, executive, and investor. He now pursues investment ideas that make money and make the world a better place. That might mean investing in nickel as the key ingredient in batteries, carbon as a way of saving forests, copper for the electrification of things, artificial intelligence to help reduce the impact of farming on our environment — the list goes on.Learn more: https://www.anthonymilewski.com/Influential Entrepreneurs with Mike Saundershttps://businessinnovatorsradio.com/influential-entrepreneurs-with-mike-saunders/Source: https://businessinnovatorsradio.com/interview-with-anthony-milewski-founder-of-the-oregon-group

Witam w dwieście pięćdziesiątym odcinku podcastu „Porozmawiajmy o IT”.
This week's episode features Anthony Milewski, CEO of Nickel 28, in conversation with host Adrian Pocobelli about the latest developments in the nickel market. He also discusses the shifting narrative in metals, moving from electric vehicle batteries to AI and the energy grid. Geneviève (Gen) Lamoureux, a Montreal-based speech therapist, person who stutters, and Ph.D. student studying at Université de Montréal in Montreal, Canada, joins host, Sara MacIntyre, M.A., CCC-SLP, to share her covert stuttering story and to explore the impact of self-stigma from both personal and professional viewpoints. In this episode, Gen explores how elements identified in research as effective means of reducing (self-)stigma have actually played a huge role in effectively reducing (and healing from) her own self-stigma and enabled her to live well with stuttering. My guest this week has a passion for building, a love for farming, and history with solving problems in the music industry that really fueled the foundation of his professional payments career. Zum Rails Cofounder and CEO Marc Milewski wanted nothing more than to build hydrogen cars in Iceland but found himself building payments technology in Canada. For those of you who may not know, Zum Rails is a fintech company with a mission to change payments as a whole into something they call financial interactions. According to Marc, the best way to think about them is “open banking meets instant payments.” They offer a different way of thinking about payments regarding how to forecast them into financial information, and their goal is to eliminate the hassles of all the nuances that come with payment acceptance. As for their competitive advantage, Marc himself said it best: “Our competitors think about payments as just payments. We see it as something completely different.” Their business model goes beyond shaving basis points to drive a strategy that makes their customer's lives genuinely easier. And with one sales guy in a company of 42 employees, it's fascinating to hear Marc talk about how the product really sells itself.Tune in this week to hear Mark talk about his journey to CEO, including how he got from almost building hydrogen cars to building payment platforms, as well as where he sees the industry going in the next 2 to 3 years as it relates to payment companies owning more of their software, the high disruption of digital currency, the thinning of the herd, and the unrelenting Asterix that always goes with moving money *instantly.*
This week's episode features Nickel 28 chairman Anthony Milewski on recent developments in industrial metals, particularly in the United States following the Inflation Reduction Act legislation. Anthony suggests that it could be an “interesting moment” for speculators, as the U.S. looks inwards to source metals for its supply chains. He also discusses his thoughts on the LME and its potential loss in credibility, particularly in regard to the nickel market, following the short squeeze in 2022. All this and more with host Adrian Pocobelli. This week's CEO Spotlight features Argentina Lithium & Energy president and CEO Nikolaos Cacos on the company's four lithium projects in Argentina. In this episode we have a returning who appeared in June 2022 (Episode 248). Anthony Milewski, Chairman of Nickel 28 who are an innovative battery metals focused investment vehicle with a focus on metal streaming and royalty agreements offering our investors exposure to metals integral to key technologies of the electric vehicle and energy storage markets. Anthony is an entrepreneur, investor and speculator and is going to give us an update on Nickel 28 and talk about market conditions, carbon credits, commodities and much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS There is no doubt that an energy revolution is underway. Nuclear energy and electric cars are as established reality and are helping to save the planet. Copper is going to become more of an interesting commodity going forward. Uranium is also going to be a major material in order to fuel the electric shift. The performance of every publicly traded carbon operation is down due to negative publicity, but this does not reflect the reality of demand. BEST MOMENTS 'I spun out to focus on the green energy transition that's underway' 'The whole space has gone harder and longer than we anticipated' 'The demand from corporates continues to grow' VALUABLE RESOURCES Dig Deep – The Mining Podcast on iTunes Anthony Milewski LinkedIn - https://ca.linkedin.com/in/anthonymilewski VALUABLE RESOURCES mailto:rob@mining-international.org https://www.linkedin.com/in/rob-tyson-3a26a68/ http://www.mining-international.org https://twitter.com/MiningConsult https://www.facebook.com/MiningInternational.org https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC69dGPS29lmakv-D7LWJg_Q?guided_help_flow=3 ABOUT THE HOST Rob Tyson is the Founder and Director of Mining International Ltd, a leading global recruitment and headhunting consultancy based in the UK specialising in all areas of mining across the globe from first-world to third-world countries from Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Their operational costs and employee salaries run on philanthropic donations. With Glo, you can make a powerful impact on ending extreme poverty.Simply by owning money in the form of Glo, you generate new money which then goes to people living in extreme poverty. The US dollar-pegged stablecoin not only gives back to those in need but also allows you to put your money where it matters most: directly into the hands of impoverished people around the world. How it works: You send us $1000. In return, we create 1000 Glo and send it to you. Glo is a cryptocurrency, so we send the 1000 Glo on the blockchain and you receive it in your crypto wallet. We don't like crypto for the sake of crypto—it's just the only viable way to create a new currency. We put your $1000 in the Glo reserve. Keeping it there is how we make sure your 1000 Glo stays worth $1000. Every Glo that exists is backed by one US dollar in the Glo reserve. You can always convert your Glo back to regular US dollars if you need the money, so you're not losing any money in the process. So how does Glo generate basic income? The trick is that we don't literally keep your $1000 sitting in a bank account. We invest a part of it in 3-month T-bills, a type of US government bond. 3-month T-bills are about the least risky investment you can think of. For that reason, they are often categorized as "cash or cash equivalents". Still, they generate a small interest. This varies, but our rough assumption is that the Glo reserve will return about 2.5% per year on average. That means every $1000 in the Glo reserve generates $25 per year of profit. We give 100% of this profit away as basic income to people living in extreme poverty. Each recipient gets $1 a day, which is often enough to lift them above the extreme poverty line. Na to właśnie liczy szef Platformy Donald Tusk — on poczuł krew. Kyle sat down with Alex on this banger of an episode! Sorry for the late release.
In this episode of Zero to CEO I talk to Anthony Milewski who is an investing veteran and Chairman of Nickel 28 – a battery metals focused investment company with a focus on metal streaming and royalty agreements. Anthony has been active in the battery metals industry including investing in cobalt and actively trading physical cobalt. Previously, he was a member of the investment team at Pala Investments Limited, leading venture capital firm. We discuss the problems with mainstream investing while offering specific suggestions and strategies to grow your money while doing good.
Most people are feeling uncertain about where to invest their money that will simultaneously contribute to social good, in this case, green energy. There are many theories about what could happen if we do not find an environmentally friendly, renewable, and scalable energy source. We are already starting to see the consequences of the fossil fuel automotive industry.Anthony Milewski is passionate about the environment. According to him, fossil fuels are an unsustainable and highly polluting energy source that cannot sustain humans going forward. That is where EVs, nickel, cobalt, and carbon markets and the energy transition are. So why not grow your wealth and help advance humanity? He believes that there is a problem with mainstream investing and contributing to the development of renewable transport and energy by investing in their stock that trades under ‘TSXv: $NKL', you can still grow your money while doing good. In this episode, we chat to Anthony Milewski, Chairman of Nickel 28, an innovative battery metals-focused investment vehicle with a focus on metal streaming and royalty agreements offering our investors exposure to metals integral to key technologies of the electric vehicle and energy storage markets. He previously appeared on the podcast back in July 2021, in episode 153, so check that out. Anthony is an entrepreneur with a background in Finance and Law and gives us an update on Nickel 28 and also talks about what is happening in the world with Russia, China, and the markets and how this is impacting the global supply of materials now and in the future. KEY TAKEAWAYS Nickel 28 has had a run of great quarters with production. They are now in a position to pay back their debt. When you see new demand emerging like there is for battery metals, the opportunities are huge. The global supply chain issues have created big challenges, especially for nickel. The current weakness in some commodities is likely to be temporary. When China comes back online properly that is likely to change. The sanctions and war in Ukraine have been highly disruptive. De-globalization is highly likely to happen, which should make mining easier in some countries. The biggest issue for the industry is a lack of funding. BEST MOMENTS ‘When you have a new technology, a new demand for a given commodity, you see a complete structured change in that commodity. ´ ‘The market might be soft until the entire world is back online and operating as normal.' ‘The longer-term fix here is de-globalization.' BIO: Anthony Milewski is an investing veteran and Chairman of Nickel 28 – a battery metals-focused investment company focusing on metal streaming and royalty agreements. STORY: Anthony and a friend partnered to drill oil in Indonesia. They pooled $10 million and hit the ground running. After facing one disaster after another, the partners gave up on the venture, having spent all the money, and not a single well was dug. LEARNING: Understand the context of the foreign country you're investing in—research both the expected return and expected risk. “Why are you investing? Do you need to do this? What's the alternative?”Anthony Milewski Guest profilehttps://www.linkedin.com/in/anthonymilewski/ (Anthony Milewski) is an investing veteran and Chairman of Nickel 28 – a battery metals-focused investment company with a focus on metal streaming and royalty agreements. The company trades on the Toronto stock exchange. Anthony has been active in the battery metals industry, including investing in cobalt and actively trading physical cobalt. Previously, he was a member of the investment team at Pala Investments Limited, a leading venture capital firm. Worst investment everA former partner and friend in Australia shared an idea with Anthony about these oil drilling blocks coming up for auction in Indonesia. Anthony figured it was a good idea, and so the two partnered and raised roughly $10 million. They were awarded a block. The two partners thought they were to drill a couple of wells and become oilmen. It never happened. They faced one disaster after another, from corruption locally to landowners fighting them to the inability to mobilize because they were being held to ransom by locals. Ultimately, they spent all the money they had raised but never drilled a well. The partners' undoing was their naivety to how complicated it would be to do an oil and gas deal with local landowners without a strong local partner. Lessons learnedUnderstand the context of the foreign country you're investing in. If a return feels out of whack, even if experts are right, always make sure that you understand the risk. When you see a return that looks like an outsize return, ask why? Then identify what the why is because that is the risk. Andrew's takeawaysSplit your research between the expected return and expected risk. Reducing risk reduces the expected return. Understand your investment environment. Actionable adviceBe thoughtful when investing in places where you don't know anything about. Work with a management team that has an edge in that place. And if you don't trust that investment, buy something else. No.1 goal for the next 12 monthsAnthony's goal for the next 12 months is to do a triathlon. Another big sweep and the Gophers killed some demons at Penn State. They also signed probably the biggest recruit for next season as well, so things are going well. BUT... It's BADger week and of course that means that we get Todd Milewski on the show to talk about all things Wisconsin Hockey.
We had Todd Milewski from the Wisconsin State Journal on to preview the big series in Madison against the BADgers.
