There are many vehicles you would think to Ultra4 race at King of the Hammers, and a Nissan probably isn't at the top of that list. However, Brady and Nestor for some reason took on the challenge of bringing a Nissan Xterra that is highly modified out to Ultra4 and putting it in the 4500 class and race. Tyler got to interview them about their exciting story of being a part of the king of the hammers rookie class, discussed their build plans, travels to the lake bed, and of course overall race recap. If you're interested in following along with these crazy Nissan racecar owners, make sure to follow Camacho Motorsports on Instagram. Watch the Quest to the Crown - Episode 1 - The Intro. 00:00 - OPEN - A Tree Falls and Smashes Our Cars, Which Leads To This 2nd Generation Nissan Xterra ReviewFirst, an apology... sorry for the very late delivery on this episode! It's been a heck of a week here at Casa de Crenshaw as my podcast prep time was suddenly taken up with debris removal and car insurance hassles. That's because at the beginning of the week, an 80' tree snapped off in high winds and smashed three of our cars. One is totaled, one will need paint work and the third... well, that one is just going to live on with battle scars. Originally I was planning a different episode this week, but out of the unexpected "Driveway Apocalypse" came an opportunity to review the 2nd Generation Nissan Xterra. What follows is a story about truly helpful neighbors and a great SUV, so enjoy! 00:42 - INTRO - Helpful Neighbors Help Cut Our Cars Free After a Tree Falls On Them In A WindstormI am so grateful to our neighbors who came to our rescue with chain saws, trucks, trailers and several hours of sweaty work to help free our cars after they were crushed by a fallen tree. What follows in the next 10 minutes is a recap of what happened. That event lead to this week's podcast, because in addition to all the help cutting away the tree debris, we also had the opportunity to drive a neighbor's 2011 Xterra while we sorted out our car situation. That generosity promoted this week's episode. I was planning to review the second generation Xterra at some point, but the opportunity to drive one this week reminded me why I like Xterras so much, so I dropped my other podcast episode idea, turned lemons into lemonade (or maybe Limoncello) and created this last-minute review of the 2nd Generation Nissan Xterra. Again, sorry it took so long to get this recorded and posted, but I had to take care of our family disaster cleanup first. 11:25 - Background On The Nissan Xterra First Gen Xterra (2000-2004) Overview1st Gen Xterra was a big hit with outdoor enthusiasts Named Motortrend's SUV of the year in 2000Featured rugged, no-frills styling that still looks great today Body-on-frame design offered solid off-road capabilityDrivers had a choice of either a 4-cylinder or a 6-cylinder engine2.4-liter 4-cylinder made 143-hp3.3-liter 6-cylinder made 170-hp (bumped to 180 hp in 2003)Available in 2WD and 4WD with automatic or manual transmission Second Gen Xterra (2005-2015) Overview Styling in original Xterra was a hit, so Nissan just enhanced it in the 2nd Gen XterraRugged good looks of the original are still attractive today. 2nd Gen Xterra is larger in every dimension & considerably more powerful than previous generation (more room inside for people and gear) Still an affordable SUV targeted towards outdoor enthusiastsBuilt on Nissan's sturdy F-Alpha platform used in the Frontier and Titan pickups4-cylinder option dropped. 6-cylinder is the only optionNew engine is a 4.0-liter VQ-series 6-cylinder that makes 261-hp and 281-lb.ft of torque (engine was rated at 265-hp & 284-lb.ft. initially, but SAE revamped their power certification rating, so the hp & torque numbers were changed to 261-hp & 281-lb.ft for 2007 model year)This new VQ-series engine is similar to the 3.5-liter motor in the 350Z, but it has a longer stroke to make it 4.0-liters displacement, delivering more low-end power & torque better suited to an SUV. 15:15 - Some Reasons Why You Might Want A 2nd Gen Nissan XterraRugged good looks are as appealing today as when newUnique design touches, including fender flares, locking top storage box, footholds in the rear bumper to reach the rack and...

On August 11, 2009, 38 year old Kristi Cornwell was talking to her boyfriend Doug on the phone while taking an evening walk. Out of nowhere, Doug heard Kristi say a car had stopped behind her. Then there was a scuffle, and Kristi yelled, “Don't take me!” A search for Kristi began almost immediately, but she was nowhere to be found. Eight months later, a tip about a Nissan Xterra would solve more crimes than just Kristi's disappearance.Hosted and produced by Erica KelleyResearched by Haley Gray Written by Haley Gray and Erica KelleyOriginal Graphic Art by Coley HornerOriginal Music by Rob Harrison of Gamma RadioEdited & Mixed by Next Day Podcast & Erica KelleySources: https://www.southernfriedtruecrime.com/kristi-cornwellSponsors: BetterHelp.com/southern FirstLeaf.com/SFTC ProvenSkincare.com/SFTC

Ever started a freestyle conversation and, in the middle of talking, decided to hit the record button? That's pretty much how every podcast starts... and summarizes this episode. This time, the Hoggs touch on various topics such as: who's the most forward thinking automaker? Is the time ripe for the Nissan Xterra to make a comeback? Was the Pontiac Aztek ahead of its time? Hackaday editors Elliot Williams and Mike Szczys spin the wheel of hardware hacking brilliance. We're enamored with the quest for a root shell on a Nissan Xterra infotainment system, and smitten with a scanning microscope that uses a laser beam and precision positioning from DVD drives. We speculate on the future of artificial intelligence in the culinary arts. And this week turned up a clever way to monitor utility usage while only changing the battery on your sensor once per year.
Plus, will the Nissan Xterra come back?
Host Tom Appel and co-hosts Jill Ciminillo and Damon Bell start the show by discussing the recent reports of Nissan dealers asking Nissan to bring back its off-road-ready Xterra SUV. We also talk about the discontinuation of Kia's Cadenza large sedan and K900 flagship luxury sedan for the 2021 model year. Jeff Pope, Group Vice President, Infiniti Americas, joins us to talk about the new-for-2021 Infiniti QX55 crossover SUV, and the Infiniti brand in general. Tom has a tricky fuel-economy quiz for Damon and Jill--complete with a bonus question about mushroom varieties--and Damon runs down the latest articles on the Consumer Guide Daily Drive blog, including a test-drive review of the all-new 2021 Kia K5 and a look at the brands of Stellantis.
Christian Schaffer lived and traveled in her Nissan Xterra while saving up enough money to buy and convert a Promaster. On today's Vlog/Podcast, I'm doing a walkaround of my 2005 Nissan Xterra SE. I'm going to talk through the mods I've done and why related to overlanding. While these mods relate to the Xterra, they have a lot of relevance no matter what kind of vehicle you drive. This week we talk about gear. Eventually. We start by talking about underwear, which is not exactly gear but we'll get to it. ThinkGeek has some underwear for the child in every dad. Then we talk about Frozen which is also not gear but is very popular with the kids these days, as is the LEGO Movie. Jon recommends Bullfrog sunscreen spray for applying to wiggling children (we're getting closer to gear). Lex recommends stick sunscreen for their precious faces that are screaming at you because you're trying to save them from skin cancer. Finally, we start talking about gear. Moltz and his wife had their car seats checked out by a local hospital so look around, there should be someone who can help you make sure you've got them in correctly. Jon recommends the Nissan Xterra (sadly, there's no Amazon affiliate link for that), even though it's not great for carseats. Dads with more than one kid recommend a membership to Sam's Club, BJ's or Costco. Parents of one kid are less enthusiastic but still supportive. The dads, naturally, recommend a diaper genie, unless you're an animal. You could also get a diaper vest. I guess. If that's not cool enough for you then check this out. Now we're talkin'. The Moltzes got their diaper bag at REI. Sponsors: Our thanks to Care.com for sponsoring this episode. In episode 47 of the podcast, we feature an interview with David Boyd and we talk about the National Xterra Meet or NXM.
