Strap in for another exciting season of Playing With Marbles, brought to you by Brain Canada. In past seasons, we learned about all of the cool brain science research coming out of labs in Canada, from mini-brain organoids in petri dishes to women's health beyond the bikini. We've taken a look at the brain at a microscopic level and learned how each part of your marble functions to help you encode, process, and remember the world around you. This season, we're going a step further to understand all parts of the brain, and this one's a little more difficult to see with a microscope. Now that we know the brain's inner workings, we want to understand how those inner workings might affect how someone thinks, feels, and behaves. In simpler terms, we're going to explore the intricacies of mental health, and mental illness.Just as we focused on women's brain health last season, we want to make sure we're zeroing in on those who have been forgotten or who need the most support. As heard in this episode, mental illness is the leading cause of disability for people in Canada between the ages of 15 and 29 - that's why we're centering this season on youth mental health! There's tons of information out there for young people about mental health, but much of it falls into the category of pop science at best, and misinformation at worst. To combat the junk science out there, we're talking to real scientists about what goes on in the brain when someone is experiencing mental illness. To make sure we're getting all sides of this complicated topic, we're doing something we've never done before on Playing With Marbles. This season, we talk to real young people who struggle with their mental health. Our guests range in age, gender, and diagnosis. You'll get to hear what it's like living with obsessive-compulsive disorder, the day-to-day struggles of ADHD, and what it's like to seek treatment for an eating disorder. We hope pairing the real, lived experiences with the science behind these disorders will provide a nuanced look at the long-maligned topic of mental health and mental illness. This episode serves as a primer for all to come on this season of Playing With Marbles. Hop on in and listen to what's in store.Fast FactsGlobally, one in seven 10- to 19-year-olds experiences a mental health disorder.By the time people in Canada reach 40 years of age, 1 in 2 have, or will have had, mental illness. Importantly, young people aged 15 to 24 are more likely to experience mental illness than any other age group.Up to 70 percent of mental health challenges begin during childhood or teenage years. The COVID-19 pandemic greatly affected the mental health of young people in Canada. Only 42 percent of youth in Canada aged 15 to 24 years old reported having excellent or very good mental health in late March and early April of 2020, compared to 62 percent in 2018—the largest drop of any age group.Less than 20 percent of youth struggling with their mental health receive appropriate treatment.Learn More about This Episode's Cool ResearchThe focus of this season of Playing With Marbles is all about youth mental health. As heard in this episode, one in every four young people are in need of mental health services every year. Jeffrey Orr has a simple message for business students: live your values. “I think people have the impression that there's a different set of ethics and values that apply in business than apply in their personal lives,” he says. “That's not the case.”The CEO of Power Corporation says in his experience, successful leaders turn to personal values and instincts when faced with tough business decisions. In a wide-ranging conversation with Goldy Hyder on the Speaking of Business podcast, Orr discusses lessons he has learned as a business leader. Key to his philosophy is that consistent approach in his personal and professional lives. It's an idea he's eager to pass along to others, gently mentoring the next generation of leaders. “Mentoring is not about doing, mentoring is about letting other people do and then coaching, guiding and sharing your own personal lessons,” he says.Listen to the entire conversation with Goldy Hyder on the Speaking of Business podcast.

We talked about DMC stocks back in 2020 when it was trading below ₱5/share. Today, it's trading above ₱10/share and has a dividend yield of around 10% net of taxes for 2022. The company also experienced one of its best yearly revenues, thanks to its stake with Semirara Mining and Power Corporation.
Dollar-cost averaging is the practice of systematically investing equal amounts of money at regular intervals, regardless of the price of a security. It's a good way to develop a disciplined investing habit, be more efficient in how you invest and potentially lower your stress level—as well as your costs. In this episode, we tracked the performance of Peso Cost Averaging with the stocks of SCC (Semirara Mining and Power Corporation). This stock is a good example since it's having a very good run from its lows of 8.3/share back in 2020 and now setting a local high of around 41/share.
We have been following SCC since its lows back in 2020. And right now, it's trading at a whopping ₱40.70/share. Now, let's discuss what's next for SCC as it approaches its all time high of ₱50/share. Should we be taking profits? Or should we just HODL and continue PCAing regardless of the price?
Been a while since my last stock and company review here in my channel. I think the last one was ACEN and I really missed doing research and analysis for a company. If you have been investing and accumulating this stock since the crash of 2020, then you're sitting on some good gains the past 2 years. Now, let's determine if this stock is still worth holding in 2022.

Last year, September 22, 2021, I posted a video recommending SCC's stock if you have a 20k budget for investing. You may check the video here: https://youtu.be/mNFnuIOxiww?t=484 SCC is currently trading at around ₱27.50/share and if you bought in last year or earlier this year, you could've doubled or tripled your capital. Also, their dividend yield for this year is at 10% already. Now the question is, is SCC still worth buying at its current market price?

If you're looking to invest in energy, then Aboitiz Power Corporation might be the right company for you. It's a holdings company with interests in generation, distribution and retail electricity services. It's a highly profitable and stable company with a good dividend yield and average payout ratio. The current stock price is very competitive and attractive, in my opinion. Even though its 2020 1Q income has taken a hit, it still netted a 2.5B Pesos in income. Also, the company has solid and proven leaders so you know its businesses are in good hands. I hope this video helps you decide! “Successful Investing takes time, discipline and patience. No matter how great the talent or effort, some things just take time: You can’t produce a baby in one month by getting nine women pregnant.” -Warren Buffett #aboitiz #AP #aboitizpower #aboitizpowercorporation #pesosmart #PSEi #PSE #stocks #stonks #stockmarket #investing #bluechip #stockreview

I thought SPC won't give out dividends this year due to the pandemic and I was surprised to see that they've already announced an ex-date on May 19 and payment on May 29. SPC is also my top performing stock, so far, with regards to price appreciation, at around 25% unrealized gain. If you want to receive dividend payments from this stock, make sure you already own it 1 trading day before the ex-date. “I've always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come.” - Michael Jordan #spc #dividends #stockinvesting
