A new MP3 sermon from Anchor Bible Church NWA is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: Greed, Getting Rich Quick, and Gambling pt.2 Subtitle: One Offs Speaker: Brad Arnold Broadcaster: Anchor Bible Church NWA Event: Sunday Service Date: 1/31/2016 Bible: Selected Scriptures Length: 52 min.
The episode discusses the misconceptions and realities of passive income, particularly in relation to investment strategies. Gary debunk the myth of a ‘magic formula' for passive income, warning against scams and emphasizing that genuine income generation typically requires active effort and risk. They acknowledge that while investments in public markets and real estate can yield returns, they are not immune to market fluctuations and demand active management. The discussion highlights that real estate investment, often perceived as passive, actually necessitates significant involvement, including managing properties and tenants. However, the option of partnering with others who can handle these tasks is also presented, offering a more hands-off approach while still requiring some level of engagement and oversight.

When did we all start wanting to invest in stock and shares? And who were the winners and losers of the investment boom? Dr Amy Edwards, senior lecturer in Modern British History at the University of Bristol and author of Are We Rich Yet?: The Rise of Mass Investment Culture in Contemporary Britain, tells Ahir Shah about how our lives changed forever in the 1980s as investment became a way of life rather than something you do. “Investment culture didn't begin with Thatcher, but it really took off in the 1980s.” “Our entire culture changed with privatisation.” “There was a huge explosion in investment cowboys.” https://www.patreon.com/bunkercast https://www.ucpress.edu/book/9780520385467/are-we-rich-yet Presented and written by Ahir Shah. We kick off the anime arc with an unusual entry - Yakuza 0, a 2017 action game from Sega. Scott tries to impart one of life's most important lessons: that a little bit of "anime" can be found just about anywhere, if you're looking for it. We talk about why crime is cool, why Yakuza are cool, and what exactly "anime" is. Chris was hilariously bad at the mini-games, you guys. I wish we recorded it. The goal of the anime arc is to get Chris into anime and the anime subculture by introducing him to a variety of media that challenges what he might think about anime as a normal, respectable person. Rich Quick was an incredible artist who displayed heightened levels of musicality and lyricism. He toured large venues in Europe, was a strong piece of connective tissue betwen the Philly and New Jersey rap scnenes. He dropped numerous mixtapes and albums that are searchable online. His last project displayed just how versatile he was becoming. Ccelli of The Exponent Family of Brands was more than a manager to Rich, I was astounded at the levels of friendship those two had for each other. We close the show with an incredible song/poem Rich made about the life of Tupac Shakur. It was like an oral biopic, and demonstrated just how creative he was as not only a lyricist, but as a performer. I truly miss him, I hope more people get the chance to be exposed to his music. Some interesting pros and cons this week from all of the crew... Thats right!! Every one is here... Derek Jones, Rich Quick, Steve New, Brian Reznor and John Covey Cole are all here to Ramble!!
Guyana, a country of just 750,000 people wedged between Venezuela and Suriname on the north-east coast of South America, has never had an oil industry. But a series of recent discoveries in its waters has revealed billions of barrels of oil beneath the ocean, potentially one of the world's biggest reserves. Next year, the oil is due to start flowing and the impact on business is already being felt. A shoreside oil service industry has popped up; workers who previously struggled to get by are finding stable employment; and cafes and hotels are overflowing with foreign customers. But encounters with the Venezuelan Navy, huge environmental risks, and legal challenges mean this is a business that is far from straightforward. I came across an real estate investment book which outlined 7 mistakes investors make in rehabbing properties. I thought I'd make a mint flipping homes in San Antonio, but didn't work out that way. Now--I wish I had stuck with it. But those seven lessons can also be applied to the "flip" our lives take when we transition out of the military. This 1st mistake is to "Think it's Get Rich Quick". Not taking the time or patience to think the long game, or to not expect delays or frustrations to make the transition possible. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/militarytransition/support

Advertising through online influencers is shaping consumer law, business models and people's careers. Nico Aguilera/Flickr, CC BY-SAIt sounds like a get rich quick scheme. Amass huge numbers of followers on a social media platform like Instagram and you can get paid like a celebrity to mention or feature products in your posts. But this industry of “online influencers” was worth US$500 million in 2015, and is expected to grow to be worth US$5 billion by 2020, according to Sandra Peter from the University of Sydney. There’s a well documented business model behind it. Even though these online influencers might not be overtly endorsing a product, advertisers will still pay a lot to have something featured, even subtly, in their posts. The relationship online influencers form with their followers is different to a regular celebrity because they have more leeway to talk about their own experiences. When the influencer industry was at it’s peak, about five years ago, the content was more about using your body or life to sell something, says Crystal Abidin from Curtin University. But this is now changing. “Today it’s expanded so much that even in the influencer scene there are hierarchies,” she says. “Big name influencers may not spend as much time investing their own narratives in these products, but they may just do a shout out, that is so impactful that advertisers don’t mind.” This is indicative of a broader change to professionalism in the industry, where big internet companies like Amazon, Reddit and Youtube are starting influencer offshoots, says Abidin. With this growing industry consumers are starting to cotton on to the potential of being led astray. For example online influencers were mentioned in a lawsuit against a festival in the United States, where consumers felt their expectations (including those set by prominent online influencers) weren’t met. “What we saw with the Fyre Festival really does highlight the dangers of the influence that these people wield on social media and if it’s not absolutely made clear that they are promoting something…that has a material effect on consumers,” says David Glance from the University of Western Australia. While there are laws in Australia to protect consumers in Australia from misleading advertising, Glance says social media platforms need to make it clearer when someone is paid being to promote. He says this should go beyond a hashtag to something written on the post, pointing it out to consumers.

Rich Quick is The Everywhere Man just getting back from a tour in Europe and with his new album The Everywhere Man ready to drop! Connect with Rich Quick richmfnquick.com @RichMFNQuick It's always a great time when my man Rich Quick gets to stop by my studio. Last time we hung out was a little before he went on tour in Europe. He drove down from New England to co-host my 1 year anniversary show with me! We talk about his experience touring abroad as well as his new album that came out September 28th! You can order his album on iTunes here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2k1xFmWLEM https://soundcloud.com/richmfnquick/rich-quick-the-everywhere-man-prod-by-snowgoons More about Rich Quick Learning to play piano by ear, mimicking riffs and bass lines he heard on the radio and television; this was the beginning of Rich Quick's music career. At the age of 7 he obtained a copy of Coolio's “Gangsta's Paradise”. The CD had another track on it, the instrumental which sampled Stevie Wonder's “Pastime Paradise” from Songs In The Key Of Life Vol. 1. Quick spent hours penning rhymes to the instrumental as a child not knowing this was the start of a life long passion. Born and raised in Woodbury New Jersey, Quick spent his grade school years listening to music and learning how to write raps. In middle-school, Quick met two other young rap artists named Anthony “Loc” McCoy and Maurice “Moe Psalms” Junius, then known as Moe Cheeks. They set out to gather a super-group of best local emcee's. The group gradually grew to six members; Loc, Moesama, J-Wev, Patch, Shad Dook and of course, Rich Quick. They was known as Rag Tag due to their diverse and disorderly composition. In 2002 Rich Quick released his first solo project, “Get Rich Quick” which along with appearances on Rag Tag group projects helped build the buzz for his follow up LP “The Movement” in 2004. By late 2005 Rich had caught the attention of then Blakout Records President Ccelli. After Blakout Records dissolved Quick linked back with Ccelli and Jodie to join their roster at Exponent Entertainment, a Philadelphia based Hip-Hop management company. This introduced Rich to the Philadephia Hip Hop scene. He began building his buzz in the Philly area but performing at various high profile shows and appearing DJ NoPhrillz and Benja Styles mixtapes. In April 2012 Rich Quick released “I'm With The DJ” Hosted by DJ NoPhrillz and Benja Styles. The mixtape was deemed by critics as a tribute to the many art forms within the Hip Hop culture. Rich created a strong foundation for the tape by showing a well rounded view of the art of emceeing, experimenting with song structure, unique rhyme patterns and flows. The first 500 physical copies of the mixtape included 1 of 5 limited edition hand drawn Hip Hop themed Art Cards. Rich included the Art Cards as a testament to Hip Hop's influence on art and pop culture. The mixtape helped Rich get featured on websites like Allhiphop, TheSource, RapMusic and more. Rich also landed a whirlwind of interviews, cyphers, features and was propelled to doing more than 80 shows in 2012. During Rich's tour promoting “I'm With The DJ” Rich was asked to perform with notable New Jersey producer Mr. Green at event called Beats and Rhymes. This show was a turning point in Rich's career. It was that evening Quick began a conversation with Jeff Davis aka Stress the White Boy. Stress impressed by Rich's performance invited Rich to work on some records with his production group STREECE™, Stress and Chuck Treece. Once in the studio the artistic chemistry between Rich, Stress and Chuck become apparent and the three decided to work on an EP titled “Sad Songz”. Slated for release summer 2013 Sad Songz is sure to take Rich's career to next level. Episode 197
This week, I'm recovered from my mid-life crisis and back at it. I talk about Young Thug's Barter 6 album flopping, Tidal flopping, soccer players flopping and flip-flops. Plus, I bring in Rich Quick to talk about what life's like for an (actually) indie artist and what people love about his music so much.
