This week's episode is one that Mark and Scott had an absolute blast recording and are still pumped that it happened. We have the inimitable James Hudson from Druid City Games on with this today and we got to talk a wide array of things with him. In addition to discussing gaming from an industry perspective, he also gave us a number of heads up on things from Wonderland's War, Tidal Blades, and even the future of Bloodstone! Check it out and let us know your thoughts! Meanwhile, check out next week's off-week episode featuring all the extra conversation including the future of Sorcerer City! This episode's segments: 00:00:00 - Intro / Hi James! 00:02:27 - What's Been on the Table 00:07:45 - Topic of the Week: Why Do "Bigger" Publishers Use Crowdfunding? 00:27:14 - Should Games Get Second Chances? 00:36:41 - Table / Shelf / Trade 00:56:12 - Rotating Segment: Surprise Party! 01:02:28 - What's Next for Druid City? 01:06:06 - Plugs / Outro Thank you again to James for joining us today! Here are the links to what we talked about with him: Madcala Kickstarter Page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/druidcitygames/madcala Druid City's Main Website: https://www.druidcitygames.com Druid City's Discord: https://discord.gg/CQutpamzff Druid City's YouTube: www.youtube.com/@realdruidcitygames **As a quick note: we've gotten the question of what score ranges would each segment of Table/Shelf/Trade normally relate to? At least for Mark, a Shelf is 8+, Table is 5-7, though a 5 isn't that exciting of a table, and a Trade is 4-. **When Scott said Telescope in his review of The Search for Planet X, he meant Observatory. **When talking about Stamp Swap, Mark didn't have any foreknowledge of the game's existence. He was simply expecting an I Cut, You Choose game from the company for a very long time. You can email us at boardallthetimegaming@gmail.com. Jason is joined this week by thebrandt, his good buddy from the Portal Gaming Podcast, to chat about some solo games hitting the table recently. But before we get into all of the fun, we give a heartfelt, final shout out to a podcast that came directly before this one - Low Player Count. They recently released the final episode in their run, so we'd like to thank Travis, Donny, and Shawn for blazing the trail and for being generally awesome to listen to. Kudos. For our first game, Brandt and Jason chat about Sorcerer City (5:51), a mashup of a tile-laying game and a deckbuilding game that manages to recreate the feel of both genres in interesting ways. Our second feature is Isle of Cats (21:50), the most recent tile/ puzzle game from good friend of the podcast, Frank West. Next up, we get into the re-implementation of the classic game Ghost Stories called Last Bastion (34:15), seeing whether it offers enough to differentiate itself from its predecessor. Finally, Brandt updates us on some of the latest expansions for the Marvel Champions LCG line, Ms. Marvel, Captain America, The Green Goblin, and the Wrecking Crew (41:00). On this episode of TWFAW, we do a most magical and sorceror-like activity of laying tiles. We're reviewing the real-time tile-laying game Sorceror City. This is a game with three (that's right, three!) colors of tile. If you don't think that three colors can provide enough substance to theme a game, then baby, you've never seen red, blue, and yellow on a color wheel. And, in my unending bid to enjoin Tony to love a Lacerda game, we discuss what brings depth to a game's play space. And no, it's not a 3D printed board. Is it interlocking complex mechanisms or a simple but rich playspace that allows one to return to a game and develop skill?01:10 Maracaibo03:01 Glen More II, Wavelength, Just One04:32 Codenames, Point Salad, Men at Work, Uno06:52 The Trolley Problem06:58 Egizia: Shifting Sands08:46 FEATURE REVIEW Sorceror City23:49 FEATURE TOPIC Depth of Play24:26 On Mars26:30 On Mars cont.27:45 The Castles of Burgundy28:33 On Mars & Castles of Burgundy29:46 Voyages of Marco Polo, Lorenzo il Magnifico, Underwater Cities31:17 Maracaibo34:21 18xx Games35:37 Maracaibo cont.36:54 18xx Games cont.37:10 The Voyages of Marco Polo37:53 Clans of Caledonia39:10 On Mars & Lisboa40:14 Rising Sun, Eclipse, Underwater Cities, Food Chain Magnate

Recorded from War Room Studios in Albuquerque, NM : 3/13/18 This episode brought to you by Tasty Minstrel Games, BoardGameTables.com & Meeple Realty. Crickets and Margaritas?!? According to Josh, out this is a fabulous combination! Voltron makes an appeareance on our airwaves for the first time ever - He's here to battle the evil within and ensure that, together, Josh and Brandon remain the control force in Brawling Land. We’re weary, but we’re here for our wrap-up episode for PAX South 2018. Dylan is joined by Nick Nundahl of Instant Replay Live — and Hidden Gems — fame along with fellow YouTuber Karinabob. We talk Airbnb furnishings, the Instant Friends Discord, and some last-minute sights from the show floor, including the Jamroom and Multibowl. As we drift off into a dreamless slumber to recover from the MAGFests and the PAXes, we make brief mention of a secret lost podcast, discuss the disappearance of John St. John, and introduce you to our southern cousin, Cloud Lee. Games include Donut County, Overland, Super Retro Maker, Armed and Gelatinous, Log Jammers, Sorcerer City, Party Hard 2, The Painscreek Killings, The Norwood Suite, Multibowl, Dobotone, Jackbox Party Pack 3, The Swords of Ditto, and Florence. Got a question for the show? Join us on Discord or email us at contact@ward-games.com!
