Confessions Of A Crappy Christian Podcast

As the year comes to a close and Christmas draws near, this episode is an invitation to slow down and rethink what actually makes a year meaningful. If you're ending the year feeling like you didn't do enough, didn't accomplish enough, or didn't have any big, flashy "banner moments," this conversation is for you. What if the ordinary years—the quiet, unseen, seemingly mundane ones—are actually where God does His deepest and most transformative work? In this episode, Blake reflects on a lifetime of big dreams, ambition, and achievement, and how this year gently (and sometimes painfully) reshaped her understanding of purpose. From dreams of being a lawyer and living a "big" life, to seasons of stay-at-home motherhood, to years in podcasting and political commentary, God has repeatedly drawn her close enough to the spotlight to ask the question: Do you still want this? This year, the answer surprised her. God invited her into a slower, simpler, more ordinary rhythm—one that prioritized home, children, marriage, nervous-system healing, and time in Scripture. What felt at first like a downgrade or a pulling back revealed itself as protection, formation, and deep peace. Scripture itself is filled with ordinary faithfulness: farming, shepherding, raising children, waiting, wandering, and quiet obedience. The big miracles were never the whole story. Blake shares how stepping away from constant digital noise, limiting headlines, embracing small rituals, practicing audacious gratitude, and finding beauty in everyday moments has reshaped her identity. Faithfulness, not flashiness, is what God values. Bigger burdens don't always mean bigger blessings—and sometimes the most impactful work is the work no one sees. If your life feels small, overlooked, or slower than you hoped, be encouraged: nothing surrendered to God is wasted. The ordinary is holy ground, and God meets us there. As we hit the halfway point of December, this episode is a deep breath and a reset. In a season that pushes hustle, consumption, and constant motion, this conversation invites us to slow down and reclaim awe, wonder, and expectancy—especially as we approach Christmas. Hannah Brencher joins the Speak Easy Podcast to talk about Advent, rhythms, mental health, and what it looks like to resist hurry in a world that rewards burnout. Together, we explore why slowing down can feel so uncomfortable, how noise steals our awareness of God's presence, and how intentional practices—stillness, margin, and presence—help us actually experience the season instead of racing through it. This episode is for anyone feeling overwhelmed, behind, or spiritually distracted. Whether you're new to Advent or returning to it again, this conversation reframes December as a cool-down, not a ramp-up—and reminds us that peace has a pace. You'll hear about: How this year's pruning looked like: job pivots relational shifts homeschooling struggles closed doors and changed direction Why pruning is always connected to fruit, but not the kind the world celebrates Not achievement, numbers, or hustle But love, joy, peace, wisdom, humility (Galatians 5:22–23) The difference between: Punishment vs. discipline Chaos vs. God's clarifying love (Hebrews 12:6) Seven "flavors" of pruning Blake walked through: Loss of things she thought she needed Doors slamming shut at the last second Conviction and refinement in hidden places Being forced to slow down or stop entirely Loneliness and isolation when life got too loud Idols exposed—especially productivity and performance The trimming of even good things to make room for better Blake also shares how her prayer shifted from: "God, why are You doing this?" to "Show me the purpose, Lord." And how that shift opened the door to real trust, deeper Bible hunger, and new fruit she couldn't see while God was still hacking away at the branches. The two of them chat about the historic campus the new distillery sits on, what the Kansas City Whiskey style entails (hint: sherry is involved) and how the cocktail culture of Kansas City reflects its storied past.Follow J. Think about some of the world's most iconic dishes: Beef Bourguignon, Coq au Vin, Penne alla Vodka. What do they all share in common? Not only do we love accompanying them with something delicious in the glass, they literally incorporate booze into the dish. That's the premise of “Sauced,” a new podcast that's been teased here on the Speakeasy feed before. Today, Greg and Sother are joined by Tim McKirdy, who's co-hosting and launching Sauced with Sother. He sits down with the band to dig into what makes an ideal Sauced dish, whether it's ever appropriate to pair cocktails with classic cuisine, and what typical episodes will look like — all in the name of cooking with booze and drinking with food.PLUS, stick around for an exclusive 3-minute clip from the Sauced pilot at the end of the episode to get a taste of what's coming.Follow Sauced on Instagram: @sauced.podSauced Kickstarter Campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/timmckirdy/sauced-the-podcast/See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

A packed Thanksgiving-week show that went completely off the rails in the best way possible. We kick things off with festive backgrounds, beers in hand, and the usual chaos before diving into Ohio high school athletes officially being allowed to cash in on NIL money. From there, it's Brinner talk, Tulane highlights (way too many of them), and the insane story out of UAB where a player was charged with attempted murder after stabbing two teammates. We wander into a Zaxby's tangent, break down Rice bribing students with free beer, and dig into LSU reportedly dangling $90 million and a massive NIL budget at Lane Kiffin. We touch on the Michigan–Big Ten mess, then question why Kevin Stefanski punted from the Raiders' 29-yard line like he was trying to protect the under. Ohio governor Mike DeWine regrets legalizing sports betting, Colorado looks rough, and the NFL Hall of Fame semifinalists are out. Then Jay Paterno jumps into the Speakeasy and we get into everything: James Franklin getting canned, where Penn State actually ranks as a job, how NIL changed the sport, the transfer portal chaos, whether collective bargaining is coming, how we got here with paying players, and how much coaches' salaries warped the whole system. Jay talks coaching vs writing, which teams he couldn't stand, whether politics is actually worse, and runs through the Quick Hitters before wrapping up the interview. We close with ScottSki45's stat of the week on Griffey Jr. and Stan Musial, the upcoming Stuart Scott 30 for 30, Shohei committing to Japan for the WBC, beer recaps, and Sip/Chug/Drainpour with Thanksgiving traditions. Welcome back to The Speakeasy Podcast! In this episode, I'm joined by one of my closest friends—and one of my favorite people to learn from—Amy Bernhardt. I call her my "continuing education friend" because she's always learning, growing, and sharing wisdom that hits deep. Amy recently shared something online that stopped me in my tracks: "What if your weight loss journey isn't about losing weight at all, but about God teaching you about yourself and preparing you for what's next?" That idea launched one of the most honest and powerful conversations we've had—about what happens when we stop chasing perfection and start letting God use our health journey to heal our hearts, renew our minds, and strengthen our spirits. Amy shares her story of going from extreme fitness culture and burnout to walking in balance, fasting, and freedom. She opens up about breaking cycles of self-sabotage, learning discipline through small daily choices, and discovering that getting healthy can be one of the holiest things you ever do. We also talk about: The false identities that keep us stuck in shame and failure How fasting revealed spiritual strongholds, not just physical habits The connection between physical healing, emotional renewal, and obedience What it means to start before you "feel ready" and trust God with the process This conversation is both real and redemptive, reminding us that God cares about every part of us—body, mind, and spirit—and He's in the details of your healing journey. This episode is brought to you by: PreBorn — Every $28 you give sponsors an ultrasound for a woman considering abortion. When she hears her baby's heartbeat, everything changes. You can be the voice of hope that helps save a life and support a mother in need.

In this intimate London-based episode of LOVERS, Shan sits down with the legendary storyteller and pleasure educator Seema Anand, the woman who transformed shame into sacred power. From being judged and silenced for her fascination with the Kama Sutra to becoming its most celebrated modern interpreter, Seema shares how self-love became her act of rebellion. Together, we talk about: ✨ Growing up rebelling against libertine attitudes and then discovering Tantra ✨ The link between shame, sensuality, and self-expression ✨ Why women still feel guilt for wanting pleasure ✨ The truth behind the Kama Sutra's ancient wisdom ✨ How to fall in love with yourself — unapologetically in your sixties or at any age This episode was inspired by our collaboration jewelry line KAMA, created to remind women to prioritize pleasure — in bed and beyond. Each piece is designed to honor the art of connection and confidence.
