Violence against Women and Girls - Press conference by Special rapporteurSpecial Rapporteur on violence against women and girls Reem Alsalem said, “Violence against women and girls in sport is a serious, systemic and systematic human rights issue that demands immediate attention at all levels.”Addressing reporters today (8 Oct) on Violence against Women and Girls in sport, Alsalem explored the forms, causes and consequences of violence against women and girls in sports, including sexual violence, coercion, gender pay gap, gender stereotypes, patriarchal structures, abusive coaches, and the general absence of robust policies and mechanisms to address abuses and protect victims. She said, “Women and girls in sport face multiple forms of violence - and I outlined them in the report - economic forms of violence, physical, psychological, coercive control, online violence and also for children, girls, they face neglect, particularly in some sports such as gymnastics.”She also said, “The report also describes the most common perpetrators of violence and their accomplices, which include state and non-state actors. So, I speak about coaches, professional colleagues, family members, managers, spectators, policy makers. And I assert within that conversation that states can also be considered complicit when they fail to prevent, prosecute and sanction acts of violence against women and girls in sport.”She continued, “Their ability to play sports in condition of safety, dignity and fairness has been further eroded by the intrusion of males who identify as female in female only sports categories and spaces.”She concluded, “Impunity fosters the culture of silence and injustice, and that is brought about in part by the autonomous regulatory frameworks of sports organizations that we have, which non sufficiently incorporated human rights lens or framework in the work, and they tend to prioritize reputation and winning over justice and accountability to victims.”The Special Rapporteurs of the Human Rights Council are independent human rights experts with mandates to report and advise on human rights from a thematic or country-specific perspective.Liberals on Poilievre's stance on Iran, Conservative privilege motionMinisters and Liberal MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as the federal party holds its weekly caucus meeting. Quote: Art has always been my friend. Today I participate in ‘Yarn Bombing' projects.Ingrid Roze is a multi-faceted woman with many interests. Her parents came from Bulgaria and Latvia. Each found their way to Venezuela in 1948 where they met and married. It was there that Ingrid was born and remained until she was 12 when the family moved to the United States. She became a child psychologist. and primarily worked with Spanish- speaking communities and Arabic and Moorish cultures.Instead of private practice, Ingrid chose to work in public service, mostly in schools. She found a profession that she adored, becoming a psychologist because that's how she always thought. The insight was there before she chose psychology. Art was always Ingrid's friend. She went to the High School of Art and Design and returned to tapestry, knitting and crocheting after she retired from her profession.Today, Ingrid participates in yarn bombing - crocheting roses for national and international projects on women's reproductive rights and women's freedom. Two examples are: “Roses to Stop Violence against Women” which is mounting 1 rose on each tree in the longest avenue in Mexico. Another, called the Liberty Crochet mural, is an image of the Statue of Liberty - substitutes the torch she's holding for a uterus with the title: Freedom to Choose. Ingrid, herself, posts crochet hearts everywhere she travels because “it throws a net of love over the world. Only love can drive out darkness Only love can drive out hate. Hate cannot drive out hate”.

TENNESSEE SHOOTING: NASHVILLE TUCKER CARLSON and ANDY NGO INTERVIEWOP -ED , STOP MESSING WITH OUR KIDS!K-12 Public School Activism Responsible for Tennessee School Murders by Suzanne Gallagher, Parents' Rights In Education Parents Rights In Education (PRE) is opposed to the teaching and promotion of Gender Identity beginning in kindergarten. Unfortunately, the Nashville, Tennessee school shooting this week is an outgrowth of the activism now present in most public schools across the country. The Tennessee shooter, a confused young adult female, was in counseling. According to Nashville's chief of police, John Drake, investigators believed the shooting stemmed from “some resentment” the suspect harbored “for having to go to that school” as a younger person. We want to know what advice she was getting.School counselors and psychologists today, encourage parents to begin social transitioning in kindergarten. Parents are bombarded with the message their children should be encouraged to explore their “real identity.” I recently received a call from a concerned a father whose five year-old son was seen by the Philomath, Oregon grade school psychologist, who recommended Dad consider “social transitioning.” Although Dad and son discussed biological reality, his son was influenced by female siblings to wear long hair and feminine clothing. Dad needed to be reminded he is the father, and has the right to mentor his son. What if he had not contacted PRE?What seemed like an effort to protect individuals struggling with “gender dysphoria,” has rapidly developed into a highly volatile political issue, and minor children are the target. Parents' rights to direct the education of their minor children, and manage their healthcare decisions, have been stolen and sacrificed on the altar of Gender Identity Rights. These are pseudo “rights” fabricated out of a false premise. Humans cannot medically change their sex.The average voter is unaware of the purposeful solicitation and recruitment of minors by public school staff and volunteers to change their sex. Students are inundated with messages about their “gender identity” rights daily. National Education Association member teachers wear badges encouraging students to seek them out for one-on-one counseling about sexuality and gender identity. In addition, LGBTQIA++ activist teachers adorn their classrooms with Gay Pride, Transgender, and Black Lives Matter political flags and posters.Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) Clubs, a project of the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network, are now in K-12 schools. GSA Network is a political organization using local public school districts as distribution centers for their trans political agenda to "leverage the collective power of thousands of trans and queer young people in the United States who connect with us through our network.”Parents are not informed of their child's membership in these clubs. Abigail Shrier, author of Irreversible Damage, confirms the influence of these clubs in decisions students are making to explore gender transition. I previously wrote an entry for the Open Philanthropy Cause Exploration Prize on why preventing violence against women and girls is a global priority. For an introduction to the area, I have written a brief summary below. In this post, I will extend that work, diving deeper into the literature and the landscape of organisations in the field, as well as creating a cost-effectiveness model for some of the most promising preventative interventions. Based on this, I will offer some concrete recommendations that different stakeholders should take - from individuals looking to donate, to funders, to charity evaluators and incubators.Original article:https://forum.effectivealtruism.org/posts/uH9akQzJkzpBD5Duw/what-you-can-do-to-help-stop-violence-against-women-andNarrated for the Effective Altruism Forum by TYPE III AUDIO.Share feedback on this narration.
Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: What you can do to help stop violence against women and girls, published by Akhil on January 12, 2023 on The Effective Altruism Forum. Introduction I previously wrote an entry for the Open Philanthropy Cause Exploration Prize on why preventing violence against women and girls is a global priority. For an introduction to the area, I have written a brief summary below. In this post, I will extend that work, diving deeper into the literature and the landscape of organisations in the field, as well as creating a cost-effectiveness model for some of the most promising preventative interventions. Based on this, I will offer some concrete recommendations that different stakeholders should take - from individuals looking to donate, to funders, to charity evaluators and incubators. The key recommendations I make, in order of importance, are: Support community-based interventions that seek to shift harmful gender norms and reduce violence- they have a high quality of evidence, and cost $180/DALY (disability adjusted life years) or $150 for a woman to live a year free from violence. Two particularly promising organisations are CEDOVIP and Raising Voices. Fund and conduct a well-designed randomised control trial of radio or television dramas to shift harmful gender norms and reduce violence- they have a startling cost-effectiveness of $13/DALY or $11 for a woman to live a year free from violence, but currently lacks a well-established evidence base. Fund organisations undertaking economic programs supporting women (e.g. microfinancing, cash transfers, village savings and loans association) to add on social empowerment programs focused on reducing violence; they have a cost-effectiveness of $180/DALY, or $145 for a woman to live a year free from violence. Found new charities focused on community-based interventions that seek to shift harmful gender norms and reduce violence, particularly in neglected geographies and populations Consider supporting self-defence training programs - although analysis suggests that self-defence training may not be as cost-effective as other interventions for VAWG, it is nevertheless a relatively cost-effective (at $260/DALY or $215 for a woman to live a year free from violence) and potentially scalable intervention. No Means No Worldwide and Ujamaa appear to be two organisations scaling this intervention well. Fund academic research to understand what types of culture change programs targeting boys and men are most effective at reducing violence against women and girls You can find a 2 page summary of my initial post and this post here Why VAWG is an important cause area Nearly one third of women and girls aged 15 years of age or older have experienced either physical or sexual intimate partner violence (IPV) or non-partner sexual violence globally, with 13% (10–16%) experiencing it in 2018 alone (Sardinha et al 2022). It is one of the leading burdens of disease globally, responsible for 8.5 million DALYs and 68 500 deaths annually. In several countries, violence against women is in the top 3-5 leading causes of death for young women aged between 15 and 29 (Mendoza et al 2018). VAWG has wide-ranging effects on women's physical, sexual and mental health- in fact, it is responsible for 11% of the DALY burden of depressive disorders and 14% of the DALY burden of HIV in women (IHME 2019) Globally, the rates of VAWG are both alarmingly high and have increased over the last 30 years, despite gains in other areas of women's health, such as maternal care (Think Global Health). In 2016, the global economic cost of violence against women was estimated by the UN to be US$1.5 trillion, equivalent to approximately 2% of the global GDP (UN Women 2016). Although there are many groups working to stop VAWG, it is fairly neglected relative to the scale of harm that it...

With mass shootings consistently making headlines these days, there's a stronger push for newer and stronger laws. Gun safety vs. the Second Amendment — why can't both exist? "Interests are too strong in the country to have substantive gun law improvements. Easy access to guns leads to more violence," one gun violence expert says. There are also those from the general public who feel gun owners that are not responsible with their guns should face significant civil fines, or there should be criminal prosecution for all of the accidental deaths that occur with minors shooting minors. Today, a panel of gun violence and gun law experts answer listener calls, questions, and concerns on these hot-button issues. But first, we discuss how President Biden was scheduled to give a speech on gun violence today, having been vaccinated and twice boosted, but still tested positive for COVID-19. Will God answer your prayer if you don't end with, "In Jesus' name, Amen?" Learn what praying in the name of Jesus really means. I taught this week on the call of Abraham and the development of God's missionary call through the nation of Israel as they were responsible to communicate the truth of God to the cultures around them. They were given that great commission. The great commission didn't start in Matthew 28. It started with Abraham in Genesis 12 —the first three verses there —Abraham, chosen by God to raise up a nation who would then be God's priests to the world so that they would be a blessing to all of the nations. They had a unique role in the great monotheistic religion. The Jews were supposed to reflect morality to the world. Israel was to witness to the name of God. When they talked about the name of God and witnessing to God's name, that does not mean that they were to let everybody know what they called God, "Yahweh." Their goal wasn't to cover the countryside with evangelists who just let everybody know what the right word for God was. It meant something different. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon --------------------------------------------------- #face #instagram #amour #take #couple #garden #tiktok #psychology #beyou #near #love #foryou #money #ForYouPizza #fyp #irobot #theend #pups #TikToker #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #youtube #twitter #tiktokers #love #reeĺs #shorts #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #nbayoungboy #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru #bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing
On Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. ET, Rep. Jamie Raskin, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, will hold a hybrid hearing to examine the disproportionate rates by which BIPOC—Black, Indigenous, and People of Color—women and girls go missing, the disparate treatment their cases receive by law enforcement and the media, and potential solutions to address this crisis. This silent epidemic is affecting hundreds of thousands of Black, Brown, and Indigenous women and girls across the country. In 2020, 40% of all women and girls reported missing were people of color—100,000 out of 250,000 missing—despite making up just 16% of the population. The disproportionate rate of missing Black and Indigenous women and girls can be attributed to a variety of factors, including higher rates of intimate partner violence against BIPOC women than white women. Missing Black, Brown, and Indigenous women and girls also rarely receive the same amount of attention by law enforcement and the media as white women and girls. Empirical studies have identified “missing white woman syndrome”—a phenomenon in which white women are given vastly higher levels of media attention than women of color. And while white women are often treated as vulnerable victims by both law enforcement and the media, BIPOC women are frequently viewed as responsible for their situations. The full scope of the problem is impossible to measure due to a lack of comprehensive and consistent data regarding missing BIPOC women and girls. In fact, there is no data on missing Hispanic or Latino women, as their cases are captured under the “White” demographic. To address this problem, federal and state governments must step up to address gaps in care, protection, and data collection. Congress must also act to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2021, pass the Protect Black Women and Girls Act, and fund the full implementation of the Ashanti Alert Act. « L'amour s'adresse à notre part d'inconnu, explique le psychanalyste Patrick Lambouley.☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon---------------------------------------------------#facebook #instagram #amour #couple #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #youtube #twitter #tiktok #love #reeĺs #shorts #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #olive #garden #menu #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing #bhfyp

How can we honor the leadership of Black trans sex worker communities in struggles for gender and LGBTQIA+ justice this Women's History Month? Black Trans Nation executive director and Decrim NY steering committee member TS Candii and Women with a Vision Sex Worker Advisory Committee member Paris Jackson speak with advocacy associate maya finoh and communications assistant Alex Webster about their work to pass legislation ending the criminalization of people in the sex trades and trans people in New York State and Louisiana, as well as their freedom dreams for Black and trans liberation. They explain why decriminalization is the legislative proposal that can best guarantee the safety of marginalized people working in the sex trades, why sex work must ultimately be recognized as the labor that it is and be provided labor protections the same as any other work, and how the criminalization of work in the sex trades is part of a larger and centuries-long project by the state to target and criminalize Black and trans communities. They also discuss how the histories of sex workers organizing to support each other appear in current mutual aid projects, and how to support and promote their crucial work.Resources:New York legislation:Walking While Trans Ban Bill (New York Senate Bill 1351 /Assembly Bill 3355) (signed into law)Stop Violence in the Sex Trades Act (New York Senate Bill 3075 /Assembly Bill 849) (pending)Louisiana legislation:Louisiana House Bill 67 (pending)Deep South Decrim ToolkitSign-on form to support Louisiana House Bill 67

Nearing the end of a Memorial Day weekend rife with high-profile parties and large fights around Rochester, Mayor Lovely Warren took to Facebook on Monday to plead for a stop to the violence and physical distancing violations. Violence against doctors is a curse indeed! The very doctors who try to save the lives of their patients, often have to face defeat in their efforts because patient relatives bring in their patients when it is already too late - whether after a physical accident or just in terms of the spread of a life-threatening disease. And then, when the doctors are unable to revive and save the patient, the relatives get furious and beat up the doctors, causing them grievous bodily harm and subject them to mental stress and trauma. Doctor Ravi Wankhedkar and Doctor Jayesh Lele, both senior office bearers of the Indian Medical Association, discuss this serious malaise of Society, ie Violence Against Doctors, its causes, why perpetrators of such violence remain undeterred, the harmful effects of such violence on Doctors, and how together, the powers that be, society and doctors can work to get rid of Violence Against Doctors. WLRN's Thistle Pettersen got to sit down with Riane Eisler, a prominent scholar who influenced Ms. Pettersen's thinking greatly in her youth. Dr. Eisler contributes much to conversations past and present about the status of women and how radical and lesbian feminists are on the cutting edge of the movement for a more humanitarian and just society. Riane Eisler is an eminent social scientist, attorney, and women’s human rights activist who pioneered the recognition of women’s rights as human rights. She is best known for her writings, including the international bestseller, The Chalice and The Blade, translated into 26 languages and now in its 57th US printing, with a new epilogue. She founded the first center on women and the law in the United States, wrote the Equal Rights Handbook on the proposed Equal Rights Amendment, and is the author of other award winning books as well as hundreds of articles and book chapters. Dr. Eisler is president of the Center for Partnership Studies (www.centerforpartnership.org) and editor in chief of the Interdisciplinary Journal of Partnership Studies housed at the University of Minnesota. Her book The Real Wealth of Nations was hailed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu as “a template for the better world we have been so urgently seeking,” by Gloria Steinem as “revolutionary,” and inspired the Center for Partnership Studies’ Caring Economy Campaign (www.caringeconomy.org) which offers online leadership training and has developed new Social Wealth Economic Indicators that demonstrate the enormous economic value of the work of care still largely performed by women worldwide. She consults to business and government about the partnership model introduced by her work, keynotes conferences worldwide, and teaches online courses about cultural and economic transformation. She shows that the women’s movement is the leading edge of the partnership movement, and, as summarized in the title of talks she gave at platforms such as the US Department of State, that what’s good for women is good for the world. She has received many honors for her work for women’s and children’s rights and peace, and is the only woman among 20 great thinkers, including Hegel, Adam Smith, and Marx, included in Macrohistory and Macrohistorians in recognition of the lasting importance of her work.
