Hello, and welcome to Entangled! The podcast where we explore the science of consciousness, the true nature of reality, and what it means to be a spiritual being having a human experience.I'm your host, Jordan Youkilis, and in this episode, I interview my professor, Dr. Sue Brown, on Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's commentary on the Bhagavad Gita. This episode serves as part of the Maharishi Vedic Science miniseries, so if you enjoy this discussion, check out the rest of the series in episodes 47-53.In this conversation, Dr. Brown and I discuss the Bhagavad Gita's setting on a battlefield, the ultimate location of conflict and extreme differences. We discuss how the battlefield is symbolic of the challenges people face in the world. Dr. Brown describes how to go inward to the field of unity in order to transcend these conflicts.Next, we consider this act of transcending as the essence of the Bhagavad Gita, and the practice of Transcendental Meditation as a pathway for avoiding war. Sue describes Chapter 2, Verses 45 and 48 as master keys to unlocking the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita. We discuss the events of the Gita in the broader context of the Mahabharata in which they take place. From there, Dr. Brown explains how Maharishi's commentary differs from those of other sages throughout the ages. We consider the universal field of consciousness, which our individual brains reflect. We discuss how Krishna helps Arjuna navigate the conflict between his heart and mind, between the collective consciousness demands for him to defend his people while also having compassion for the family members on the opposing force whom he must kill. Dr. Brown and I discuss how the human dilemmas captured in the Bhagavad Gita are universal issues, encountered throughout the ages.Next, we consider Samkhya (theoretical) and Yoga (practical) knowledge contained in the Gita. We discuss how Arjuna reconciles the sin of murder and war with the transcendental forces of collective consciousness. We consider the time period of the Bhagavad Gita, and the similarities with our current Kali Yuga – an age of stress. We discuss the opportunity we currently have to usher in Satya Yuga, a time of construction and creativity. From there, we dive into Chapter 3 and ideas of Yagya, Dharma, Karma Yoga, the path of action, and Gyana Yoga, the path of knowledge. We discuss why the danger of following another's dharma is more dangerous than death. We then discuss Chapter 4 and how action and renunciation of action are two sides of the same coin. We consider misinterpretations of the Gita, including those who view renunciation/detachment as a necessary state of life, rather than as a state of consciousness. We consider the rise and fall of knowledge throughout time.Dr. Brown explains why Maharishi chose to emphasize his teachings on the practical effect of enlightenment, not just the theoretical knowledge. We discuss the four pillars of Yoga – Raja, Karma, Bhakti and Gyana Yoga, and the concept of Moksha, or liberation. We consider how action in accordance with natural law leads to spontaneous right action, and how the path of enlightenment is one of effortlessness and bliss. We then discuss Krishna's final words to Arjuna in Chapter 6, his guidance: “Therefore, be a Yogi.”. We end the conversation discussing the state of unity consciousness and how Brahmin consciousness refers to regaining memory of totality.Music from the show is available on the Spotify playlist “Entangled – The Vibes”. Mile High Chiro Podcast

Chiropractic care touches every aspect of life.  It impacts body, mind, and spirit.  The very special guest on this episode of The Mile High Podcast is Dr. Liza Cherubini, who has made the spiritual aspect of chiropractic a very large part of her practice. Dr. Liza is the owner of Cherubini Chiropractic Red Bank, New Jersey Red Bank, NJ. She has dedicated her life to serving people at the highest level through vitalistic chiropractic care. A vitalistic approach to chiropractic looks at the entire person and not merely the parts or symptoms. This approach allows for a greater healing and consciousness shift to occur with chiropractic adjustments.   Dr. Liza graduated from Life Chiropractic College West in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2011. Her understanding of chiropractic was greatly influenced by the teachings of Dr. Pasquale Cerasoli before entering chiropractic school, and later by Dr. Sue Brown who evolved the chiropractic profession with the development of the approach Bio Geometric Integration (BGI). Other prominent influences in her career include Dr. Arno Burnier, Dr. Katina Manning, and Dr. Donna Mutter. Dr. Liza has been a yoga practitioner for 25 years, and continues to study yoga and chiropractic philosophy. She speaks and teaches to chiropractors across the country. Her focus and intention with chiropractic adjustments is on uniting the spiritual and physical bodies, so that each person can realize their potential for healing and evolution. On this podcast you'll hear about: •    Liza's purpose in chiropractic •    What inspired her to focus more on the spiritual aspect of chiropractic •    Why it is important to connect the spiritual and the physical •    How do to integrate spirituality into your practice •    And MUCH more! In today's episode I talk with Sue Brown about her story and book, "Simply Sugar Free: Six Simple Steps to Conquer Sugar Addiction." Sue lost 52 pounds in 52 weeks when she was 52 by going Simply Sugar Free. Which is her code phrase for unraveling her lifelong sugar addiction. Sue has always known that her weight problem was in her head, not her body. That sugar delivered great "highs" and moments of intense clarity and inspiration - and comfort. As a child at breakfast, she heaped sugar on Frosted Flakes and washed it all down with Tang. After all, if it was good enough for astronauts it must be good enough for her. At lunch she shunned cold cuts for PB&J on Wonder bread. Dinner was usually mac & cheese or spaghetti. That's a 100% carb day, recipe for an epic fail. But that's what she wanted. What she craved. Her hard-working but poor single mother was doing the best she could, unwittingly caught in the trap between a sugar-craving child and a food industry that was (and still is ... ) happy to accommodate those cravings in the name of profit. Along the way she went from comforting herself with sugar to using it like a drug, unable to stop. It helped her cope with what she would come to know and love as her highly-sensitive personality, a tendency toward introversion and a relentless creative drive. For 15 years now she has been in remission from sugar addiction, and works tirelessly to help others improve their lives one step at a time, Sue is a Health Coach, and author of "Simply Sugar Free: Six Simple Steps to Conquer Sugar Addiction." In this episode, poet Sue Brown talks with us about the poem that has been a friend to her - 'Truth' by Jean 'Binta' Breeze. Sue joined The Poetry Exchange at the Birmingham & Midland Institute and is in conversation with Fiona Bennett and Roy McFarlane. Sue Brown writes from the heart and the soul. Her words pull from the dialect of her local community, from the long toned melodic speech of preachers and Maya Angelou, from mantras and incantations, from jazz. In her poetry, a lifetime in the making, she is a fighter and a lover, by turns rising up against the oppression that has dominated her peoples' history, and rising skywards on the warm air of her compassion and her capacity for love. These poems move with a beat that speaks to hearts everywhere. They pulse with life, feeling like they could either be spoken or sung. Feel their rhythm. Feel their profound sensibility. And as Roy McFarlane says in his exuberant introduction to this book – ‘Let Rhythm Chant take a hold of you.' 'Truth' is taken from Jean Binta Breeze's 'Third World Girl - Selected Poems', published by Bloodaxe Books: www.bloodaxebooks.com/ecs/product/third-world-girl-1005

We’ve talked alot about the reopened theme parks recently but since the resort stay is such a big part of any Walt Disney World vacation I think it’s time to share some opinions on what it’s like to stay at a Disney resort in this new world we live in. The act of making things can work wonders for our mental health, and being able to contribute that craft to a community project can help ease the sense of isolation. Inspired by the story of female prisoners of war making a quilt at Changi Prison in Singapore during World War II, a global group of quilters are contributing to a community quilt which will raise funds for a charity helping communities during this difficult time. Now retired from actively programming, Dr. Brown directs the ongoing architectural development of NeurOptimal® as well as being intimately involved in ongoing Research and Development at Zengar. Questions we ask in this episode: What are the main principles of neural feedback? What would a typical brain training session look like? How safe is the practice of brain training? https://180nutrition.com.au/shop/   Hi Guys, this is Stu from 180 Nutrition, and I am delighted to welcome Dr. Valdeane Brown, PhD to the podcast. Dr. Brown, how are you? Dr. Valdeane 01:30 I'm good. How about you Stuart? Stu 01:31 Yeah, very well thank you. Again, thank you so much for sharing some of your time today. I'm very, very intrigued and keen to dive into some of the questions, but before we do that, I just wondered if you could tell our audience who may not be familiar with you, a little bit about who you are and what you do? Dr. Valdeane 01:50 Yes. I'm licensed as a psychologist on inactive status in the US, and my wife is too, Dr. Sue Brown. She and I are the co developers of NeurOptimal brain training system, and we're the co founders of Zengar Institute Incorporated. It's the easiest to use, safest, and overall most interesting brain training system. Let's put it that way. Certainly the most advanced, in my opinion, and it really is about giving brain directly information about what it just did, so the brain itself sorts out what is best for it at that moment. It's not driving it any place in particular. 02:41 About 20 years ago, Sue and I decided that we really needed to create our own neuro feedback program. I was teaching at that time, neuro feedback, across a wide range of systems. Various conferences and things of that nature, and I just had had a very different vision for what neuro feedback could be. I actually had that vision all the way back in 1970, and that's kind of been my life's work. Most of that time waiting for technology to catch up to the place where it could implement what I had envisioned. So I'm definitely the visionary, shall we say? What made you decide to take that route for teaching? Aaron: Unlike some of the online content we've seen in your space, you have not only tips videos but structured, project-driven classes that your ‘students' can participate in. What do you think your students get from these scheduled classes and how does this integrate with the Facebook Group? Terry: In our pre-interview, you said your teaching style is geared to make people feel confident and ‘at ease' - What's different about the way you teach that gives people that confidence? Aaron: Many of your projects and classes are more what we might expect to see in the craft/home embroidery market. Though a lot of the skills in digitizing are applicable on both sides of the home/commercial split, do you see a lot of classic logo work or apparel decorators taking an interest in your groups? Terry: We have seen a lot of crossover lately between embroidery hobbyists and cottage-industry decorators. What do you wish that the commercial folks would teach the home/cottage industry embroiderers? Aaron: So what is the one tip you would give someone who came to you with little or no experience to get them going? Terry: What is the most common Facebook Group question you get? Aaron: What final thoughts would you like to share with the listeners, and where can people find more from you and OML Embroidery? Gout is a type of arthritis caused by a build-up of uric acid crystals in the joints, most frequently the feet. As with many conditions, flare-ups can be brought on by a number of factors including lifestyle, stress and diet. Some people, however, have a genetic predisposition. Paul Webber and Alan Hughes both suffer with gout, describing the pain as being repeatedly being kicked in the shin and worse than a red-hot poker. What’s the treatment? Treatments for reducing pain during attacks include icing the joint and taking medications, however there are also long term treatments. There are lifestyle changes we can make, such as consuming less yeast-rich food and drink, staying active and drinking plenty of water. Despite being relatively inexpensive to treat, gout comes at a great cost to the economy and society, as the Chief Executive of ARMA, Sue Brown, highlights. Consultant Rheumatologist Dr Jonathon Rees identifies a lack of awareness in primary care, with cases often going undiagnosed. Paul also talks to Michael Snaith about his early gout and gender research at the UK’s first gender reassignment, and Lord Ramsbotham sums up perfectly why gout really is no laughing matter.
