Watch this episode on YouTube.Ross Geiger is Co-Founder & President at Ciro, a YC-backed tech startup. His LinkedIn says he is “On a journey to understand & elevate the craft of Sales.” And he participated in the 2024 Soulful Impact Vision Quest. If that combination makes you raise an eyebrow, you're not alone. Ross is a unique and deeply multifaceted individual. Which is part of why I was so excited to invite him onto the show.Through guiding Ross on his quest, I got to witness his incredible depth. I had the opportunity to walk beside him as he did a very scary and courageous thing. He stepped away from a very full life to spend several days alone in the wilderness with no food. He ceremonially released the control of his ego so that he could dive deeper within himself than ever before and connect with the truth at the center of his calling. The result was profound. I'm incredibly grateful to Ross for his willingness to share some of that experience with you directly through this episode.A core theme we explore in this conversation is how the setting and structure of the quest supported Ross in putting his ego aside, how this enabled a realization of his innate worthiness, and how that spark opened the door for his soul to speak. We also explore what integration has been like for him so far, what's alive for him now in this next layer of his journey, and how he's finding deep soulful alignment without needing to make major shake-ups to the external realities of his life (which is something people often expect to happen after a vision quest). In this way, Ross' story is a powerful example of how it's really the internal shift that counts. When we consciously live and act from a place of soul, we are guided to make soulful impact in beautiful and unexpected ways.Enjoy!Links & Resources* Connect with Brooks on Instagram or LinkedIn* Soulful Impact: soulfulimpact.co* Connect with Ross on LinkedIn* Check out Ross' company, CiroChapters00:03:28 Introduction and Journey Overview00:06:24 Personal Background and Call to the Quest00:09:30 Preparation for the Vision Quest00:12:31 Experiencing the Quest: Inner Work and Transformation00:15:22 The Role of Nature and Wilderness in Healing00:18:40 Insights Gained from the Quest00:21:28 The Importance of Authenticity and Self-Expression00:24:15 Messages from the Soul and Personal Craft00:27:21 Reflections on the Quest Experience00:30:32 Future Directions00:44:01 Believing You're Enough00:46:06 The Journey of Self-Discovery00:51:50 Nature as a Teacher00:53:43 Understanding Our Place in Nature00:59:51 The Power of Asking for Support01:04:51 Embodying Soul in Leadership01:10:36 The Importance of Personal Transformation01:14:40 Integration After the Quest01:20:33 Advice for Future Questers—Get newsletter updates & future episodes delivered to your inbox: Subscribe to Soulful Impact on Substack Get full access to Soulful Impact at www.soulfulimpact.blog/subscribe
The IRS already fails to collect $700 billion a year, but the tax gap could get a lot worse if DOGE follows through with a plan to cut the agency's workforce in half, according to Natasha Sarin, Professor at Yale Law School & Co-Founder/President of The Budget Lab at Yale. Sarin estimates that if headcount at the IRS is cut by 50%, then the government would lose $400 billion on uncollected taxes over the next decade. Sarin also discusses the inequities in the tax system and how more investment, not destruction, can help fix the IRS. ----Sarin is also has a secondary appointment at the Yale School of Management in the Finance Department. Previously, she served as deputy assistant secretary for economic policy and later as a counselor to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.https://x.com/NatashaRSarinHosted by https://x.com/kylascan----The content of the video is for general and informational purposes only. We're all on a path to somewhere, and then something comes along that brings clarity into our life, and often takes us in an unexpected direction. We ask, “did we manifest that” or did it “just happen?” Lyn St. James believe it's likely a combination of things, but she believes things don't just happen. The more difficult the challenge, the more difficult the climb, and the more important we need to pay attention to the things that influence our choices. It's often upon reflection where we can see and learn how those influences impacted our lives. And depending on what decade we're living in, and what decade of our life we're reflecting on those choices, it can help shape our lives and the lives of those around us. An important piece of advice - pay attention to your influences and how they impact your decisions. And always think about the bigger picture, because everything we invite to enter our sphere of awareness impacts what we do, and what we do has an impact on others. This presentation is a recap of how my five decades in the motorsports industry has taken me down the path of racing around the world and provided me with incredible opportunities to be someone I would never have dreamed I could be. An incredible journey! Lyn St. James, Co-Founder/President of Women in Motorsports North America, is a legendary race car driver, author, mentor, and motivational speaker. Named one of the "Top 100 Female Athletes of the 20th Century" by Sports Illustrated, Lyn has set 21 national and international speed records and was a seven-time competitor in the world's largest sporting event - the Indianapolis 500 - earning Rookie of the Year honors in 1992. She has competed all over the world, including twice at the 24 Hours of LeMans (1989, 91) with victories at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, Watkins Glen, Road America, and Nurburgring. Most recently Lyn was announced as an inductee into the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame, and has been inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame, the Sebring Hall of Fame, the Florida Sports Hall of Fame, was the 2022 Amelia Island Concours Honoree, is the recipient of the prestigious “Spirit of Ford” award, the "Guiding Woman in Sports Award", the "Office Depot Visionary Sportswoman of the Year" and was named on Automotive News list of the Top 100 Women in the Automotive Industry. She is in demand as a speaker on women's issues, gender equality, and diversity. She serves on the board of ACCUS (Automobile Competition Committee of the United States) and on their Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. She has authored two books: Lyn St. James, An Incredible Journey and Oh By the Way, and is a former President of the Women's Sports Foundation. Lyn is passionate about mentoring drivers in the sport of auto racing as well as women in the automotive and motorsports fields. ===== (Oo---x---oO) ===== 00:00 Lyn St. James: A Legendary Career 03:51 Early Inspirations and Challenges 05:42 Finding Passion in Racing 09:09 Breaking Barriers in Motorsports 13:52 The Importance of Teamwork and Persistence 18:52 Creating Partnerships and Achieving Success 25:53 Reflecting on History and Legacy 27:35 Reflecting on Women in Motorsports 29:24 The Evolution of Female Representation 32:20 The Birth of Women in Motorsports North America 35:35 Challenges and Triumphs in Racing 40:07 The Future of Women in Racing 43:04 Social Media and Safety Concerns 44:51 Memorable Cars and Racing Experiences 50:51 Final Thoughts and Acknowledgements ==================== The Motoring Podcast Network : Years of racing, wrenching and Motorsports experience brings together a top notch collection of knowledge, stories and information. #everyonehasastory #gtmbreakfix - motoringpodcast.net More Information: https://www.motoringpodcast.net/ Become a VIP at: https://www.patreon.com/ Online Magazine: https://www.gtmotorsports.org/ This episode is part of our HISTORY OF MOTORSPORTS SERIES and is sponsored in part by: The International Motor Racing Research Center (IMRRC), The Society of Automotive Historians (SAH), The Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Argetsinger Family - and was recorded in front of a live studio audience.

On this episode of Destination on the Left, I talk with James R. Ferrara, Co-Founder & President of InteleTravel, about how the business navigated the pandemic, adapted to the shifting preferences of younger travelers, and strategically expanded their services. James also shares more about the company's commitment to promoting mindful and sustainable travel practices and why travel advisors should encourage their clients to explore lesser-known destinations. What You Will Learn in This Episode: How Inteletravel's educational programs and supplier partnerships support the professional development of their advisors Why travel priorities have shifted, especially among younger generations, and their increased use of travel advisors Inteletravel's strategic acquisitions to expand their services and earning potential for advisors The importance of industry collaboration, even among competitors, to address legislative challenges and support professional development. Why Inteletravel focuses on promoting mindful and sustainable travel experiences. How Inteletravel advisors guide clients towards less-crowded and unique travel destinations. The Evolution of the Travel Advisor The role of the travel advisor has undergone a remarkable transformation, and on the show, James Ferrara, the President of Inteletravel, shares his insights on this evolution. He explains that the company's independent contractor model, pioneered in the early 90s, has evolved from a predominantly part-time role to a more entrepreneurial full-time business. James credits Inteletravel's success to an unwavering commitment to education and professional development. He details the company's robust training programs, supplier partnerships, and annual conventions, which equip their 120,000 independent contractors with the tools and knowledge to thrive in the industry. Navigating the Pandemic and the Boom in Travel The travel industry has faced its fair share of challenges in recent years, but Inteletravel made a quick recovery from the pandemic. James credits its innovative management team and its travel advisors' focus on building on existing relationships. We discuss the “revenge travel” phenomenon and the shift in travel priorities, particularly among younger generations. James notes that we're seeing huge growth in Gen Y and Gen Z travelers, and this demographic shift has fueled a renewed appreciation for the value that travel advisors can provide as younger travelers seek out personalized guidance and expertise. Promoting Mindful and Sustainable Travel James emphasizes the importance of responsible and sustainable travel practices as the travel industry evolves. He talks about the “No Tourists Allowed” podcast, where he and his co-host explore ways to travel more mindfully and promote unique, off-the-beaten-path destinations. We dig into why it's also better for the customers' experience to get them out of these overcrowded tourism centers worldwide. By encouraging travel advisors to guide clients towards lesser-known destinations and experiences, Inteletravel is actively working to mitigate the impact of over-tourism and foster a more sustainable travel ecosystem. “As human beings our identity is made up of all the people that lived before us. The ability to have continued conversations with people either living or not in an interactive platform, is a blessing, “ Says my next guest Heather Smith. Heather now serves as the CVO of StoryFile, an interactive Conversational Video AI Platform that uses advanced natural language processing and artificial intelligence to make video interaction feel just like a real conversation. StoryFile's technology will allow people to have conversations with video, removing the boundaries of time and space, so that we can experience all kinds of conversations and learn from individuals whenever and wherever we want. At the heart of Heather's work is the underlying need to share, preserve and learn from the human experience. Heather's work has been featured on NBC's The Today Show, The New Yorker, The BBC and on 60 Minutes.Heather had always intended to use the interactive concept she had created to preserve the stories of humanity for future generations. In 2017, she launched StoryFile to create a cloud-based, no-code, automatic platform that would bring the power of conversational video into everyone's hands.StoryFile is revolutionizing the way we connect with each other by introducing conversational video with Audio Visual technology at the forefront of this generation.
