Egypt expects to receive between USD5-6bn [EUR4.6-EUR6.5bn] in funding from the EU under a major 'cash for migrant control' pact which is set to be finalised this weekend. The IMF intends to provide about USD1.5 billion to Egypt within weeks, within the framework of the loan program that was agreed to increase last Wednesday from USD3 billion to USD8 billion. Customers have sold over EGP1.05 bn worth of foreign currency at the National Bank of Egypt's foreign exchange bureau Al Ahly Exchange, Banque Misr's Misr Exchange, and Banque du Caire's Cairo Exchange following the central bank's decision to float the currency last Wednesday. The UAE's largest FX bureau and remittances company, Al Anasri Exchange, has seen a “remarkable increase” in transfers sent from the UAE to Egypt as Egyptian expats go back to using official money transfer channels post float. The government will use 50% of the money generated through its privatization program as well as the country's primary surplus to service and reduce outstanding debt in the upcoming fiscal year, according to Finance Minister. The Ministry of Finance intends to set a ceiling on government guarantees as part of its plan to limit external debt, with a debt ceiling that cannot be breached without a Presidential greenlight. Finance Minister said that the budget for FY2024-25 includes revenues of EGP2.5 trillion, while expenditures will reach about EGP3.8 trillion. There will be no tax increases for investors in the next fiscal year. Additionally, mandatory solidarity contributions to the universal health ins. system will be deducted from taxpayers' tax base. Four international companies are competing to win gold exploration concessions in two areas near the Sukari mine in southern Egypt, during the first global bidding offered by the Shalatin Mineral Resources Company, including “Lotus” Canadian Gold and Russian "Infinity". Moody's has upgraded the long-term deposit ratings outlook of five local banks to positive from negative. The five banks are: National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, and Banque du Caire, COMI , and Bank of Alexandria.  BTFH turned profitable in 2023 after years of losses, recording EGP369 mn in net income compared to a net loss of EGP269 mn in 2022. BTFH is seeking to complete the dual listing process for its shares on the Nasdaq Dubai stock exchange during the coming period. Shirika la Umoja wa Mataifa la afya ulimwenguni, WHO, hii leo limetoa mwongozo unaoshauri watu wasitumie vikoleza utamu visivyo sukari halisia (NSS) kwa lengo la kupunguza uzito na kuepusha magonjwa yasiyo ya kuambukiza, NCDs.Taarifa ya WHO iliyotolewa leo Geneva, Uswisi inasema mwongozo huo unafuatia mapitio ya ushahidi unaodokeza kwamba kutumia sukari isiyo halisia kwa ajili ya kupunguza uzito hauna manufaa ya muda mrefu katika kupunguza mafuta mwilini miongoni mwa watoto na watu wazima. Sukari hizo zisizo halisia na ambazo zinatumika ni pamoja na aspartame, advantame, cyclamates, neotame, saccharin, sucralose na stevia. Kitu kibaya zaidi ambacho mapitio hayo yamebaini ni kwamba sukari hizo zisizo halisia zinaongeza hatari ya kupata uognjwa wa kisukari aina ya 2, magonjwa ya moyo na vifo miongoni mwa watu wazima. Mkurugenzi wa WHO Idara ya Lishe na Usalama wa Chakula Dkt. Francesco Branca amesema kuacha kutumia sukari ya kawaida na badala yake kutumia sukari zisizo halisia kwa muda mrefu hakusaidii kupunguza uzito. Amesema “watu wanapaswa kufikiria njia mbadala za kupunguza matumizi ya sukari kwa kula vyakula vyenye sukari ya asili kama vile matunda au vinywaji na vyakula visivyo na sukari.” Amesema “vikoleza utamu visivyo na sukari havina lishe yoyote. Watu wapunguze vyakula vitamu kwenye mlo wao tangu utotoni ili kuimarisha afya zao.” WHO inasema pendekezo hilo linahusu watu wote isipokuwa wale wanaougua kisukari.

Gold miner Centamin has deferred mining operations in the Sukari openpit Stage 4 west wall after detecting movement in the localised area of waste material. Considered a preventive measure to safeguard the health and safety of the workforce and long-term potential of Sukari, Centamin will also lower its 2020 guidance and an updated mine plan for future years will be included in the life-of-asset (LOA) review. Measures to stabilise movement in the affected area have already been implemented, and the miner has started a geotechnical assessment, which is focusing on developing a plan to mine the impacted area. The high-grade Stage 4 west wall was scheduled to be mined during the fourth quarter of the year and contains about 90 000 oz of gold at grades of up to 2 g/t gold. Mining of the impacted high-grade material will now be rescheduled. Openpit mining at Stage 4 North and Stage 5 North will continue, albeit at grades of less than 1g/t gold. Preliminary gold production for the three months ended September 30 was about 120 000 oz, bringing production for the nine months to about 375 000 oz. While the precise impact has yet to be fully determined, Centamin's preliminary estimate is that production for the fourth quarter will be reduced to about 70 000 oz. Centamin will release its quarterly report for the third quarter on October 21, and the preliminary conclusions of the LOA review by year-end.

If this is to happen, it will require those engaged in the training of potential and would-be coaches understand the differences between individual and group level experiences. The need for Coaches, and more specifically, coach trainers, to do the necessary self-work related to issues of belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion is long overdue. Our topic will invite Coaches to identify their own social identity blind spots, and to discard feelings of shame and/or blame in pursuit of developing a more expansive and robust coaching offer. Guests:  Sukari Pinnock  is a Cisgender, heterosexual woman and a member of the Black Diaspora. She is a Baby Boomer, living with some degree of socio-economic privilege as a U.S. National. She has no religious affiliation, however does consider herself a Pantheist -- believing strongly that the "Universe Provides." She is the daughter of a Jamaican immigrant father and South Carolinian mother, and was raised with one sibling in a middle-class, multi-racial neighborhood in Los Angeles. Now residing in Northern Virginia, Sukari has been coaching leaders in all sectors for over 18 years, supporting clients in the U.S. and abroad. Amber Mayes is an African American & Greek, Gen X, heterosexual, Cis woman. She grew up in the Boston area in a fairly racially diverse working class neighborhood. Raised in a multicultural household by an African American father from Georgia and a Greek immigrant mother, she developed an early passion for helping people communicate across differences. In the past 20 years Amber has developed a global leadership coaching and organization consulting practice that integrates issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is based in Northern California and is a proud auntie of the best 6-year-old on the planet! How does my power as a Coach (the often unacknowledged, but perceived expert in the coaching relationship) play out in a coaching relationship with someone whose worldview is different from my own? When does my lack of knowledge of systemic and cultural awareness trigger a fear of saying the "wrong thing" thereby keeping me from meeting the client where they are in the coaching conversation?
