It's been a while... Time to get back on track! This episode contains a quick update message outlining the direction for the show in 2023. Enjoy!
Parker Olson is surely one of the most unique individuals I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He's an entrepreneur, an adventurer, and in 2021 - he became an Ironman (having never even done a triathlon or other endurance event before signing up). Using inexpensive used equipment, goofy outdated apparel, and homemade whole food endurance fuel - the man was able to keep his 'all in' costs to a meager $2k.This episode is perfect for anyone that's been putting off their dream of a 140.6 because of costs and time. Enjoy!Click here to learn more about our charity endurance team.Click here to purchase some of Parker's granola!
If you've been to a nightclub in Vegas or LA, there's a good chance you've seen today's guest before: DJ Vice. And while many people know Vice as the resident DJ of Vegas's biggest clubs, not many people know that the man is a runner! In fact, he's run a mile a day every day for the last four years. Sometimes he runs further than a mile; like when he ran the LA marathon in 2019.Today's interview features an awesome conversation with one of the most disciplined human beings I've ever met. If you are: 1) someone who wants to someday run a marathon; or 2) someone who wants to start a new habit (like running a mile a day) - this episode is for you. It's also for anybody with a pulse.Catch DJ Vice on social: @djviceWatch DJ Vice's YouTube show: Electric TacoGrab tickets to an upcoming show: djvice.comClick here to learn more about our charity endurance team.

This past summer, Luke Sweet completed his first double iron-distance triathlon (known as a Double Anvil) in just over 30 hours. The idea for this episode was inspired by a question I received from a listener asking how to apply psychological persuasion principles to resume building. So, behold, the serial position effect!Disclaimer: I've never been hired for a job that required me to submit a resume... only rejected, twice... So I'm probably not the best person to take resume advice from. However, the serial position effect is both real and at play in everyday life! These principles can be replicated for almost any situation: public speaking, selling, recruiting, asking for a raise, etc. Enjoy!Copied below is the script for anyone that's interested in reading it:A lot of us right now are experiencing a return to freedom. We're going to restaurants, some of us are traveling again, and we're seeing friends and family that we haven't seen in a really long time. That being said, there's still an entire people group, though, that won't experience this same freedom that we will - I'm talking about victims of human trafficking. And I don't know about you guys, but it's tough for me to go about my life as normal, knowing that these people are suffering. That's why, this November, I'm gonna do something I've never done before in order to raise awareness and money to help these people…I'm gonna run 50 freakin' miles.I'm calling this run the #freedomfifty and you can participate in 3 ways:Invest $50 into our campaign to help bring relief to victimsRun with me virtuallyRun with me here in DC for part or all of itSo my question to you is: are you willing to jump in on this fight with us? In today's episode, I unpack a psychological study on the influence that conformity has on our choices and actions. The idea for this episode was inspired by an interesting question I received from a Patreon subscriber who didn't want to be persuaded into buying a timeshare.Disclaimer: today's episode is meant to illuminate how outside entities may try to influence or manipulate us via the power of conformity. This is definitely something to consider when it comes to advertising messages around us, including those pertaining to divisive social issues! My hope is that this study would help us to: 1) recognize when this type of influence is occurring; and 2) help us to stand firm with our beliefs!Lastly, I came across this study while reading Jonah Berger's, "Invisible Influence". In today's episode, I interview up and coming stand-up comedian, Sam Hardy, about what it's like to endure rejection. Some of Sam's experiences would almost certainly cause many to give up.
