Its just one of these weeks.. maybe something was in the air?? In this episode we discuss how we've been feeling recently and share our recent struggles with switching off from work when things are stressful, finding a better work life balance, and detaching our work from our identity. we talk about: the importance of setting boundaries whilst knowing yourself worth Detoxing from all technology after work Prioritising time for hobbies/body movements /outdoors Detaching work from being a reflection on yourself (especially if you have people pleasing tendancies) I (Cara) personally found this episode really helpful to talk through especially as I had quite a self-inflicted unhealthy week. I want this to be a reminder that its okay to have off weeks and to let yourself go. Let's recognise that we should be proud of ourselves and how we handle stressful situations, even when also highlighting and recognising that we could be kinder and have a healthier work balance in the future. If you're a student this episode can still apply to you as we recognise a lot of similar feelings that we had at uni/school! to stay up to date on our lives, contribute to future episodes, and share any of your thoughts - pls do follow us on instagram (@the.matcha.diaries), tiktok or subscribe to us on youtube here! When it comes to evaluating our success as Scrum Masters, Gert suggests we start with a simple question to frame our work: how is the scrum master helping the team deliver faster or better results? In this segment, we also talk about the importance of setting up a coaching agreement with the team and stakeholders, and we refer to Vasco's Christmas 2022 bonus episode. Featured Retrospective Format for the Week: Tips on how to improve a simple Agile Retrospective format Gert likes the simple format that focuses on 3 questions (what went well, not well, what can we do about it?). However, he brings in different tools and practices around that format to adapt it to the reality of the team at the time of the retrospective. He suggests starting with an ice-breaker, and shifting the order of the main questions around depending on what you feel the team needs to talk about at the time. Retrospectives, planning sessions, vision workshops, we are continuously helping teams learn about how to collaborate in practice! In this Actionable Agile Tools book, Jeff Campbell shares some of the tools he's learned over a decade of coaching Agile Teams. The pragmatic coaching book you need, right now! Black mold is a common problem in homes with regular exposure to moisture, particularly bathrooms. But there is something you can do about it. Tim, a Today’s Homeowner Podcast listener, is dealing with this issue after converting a half-bath laundry room to a full bathroom. He doesn’t regret the decision to convert the laundry room, but there is one unfortunate side effect. The ceiling now has black mold, and he thinks it’s coming from the shower steam.   That probably means one of two things: First, the drywall isn’t moisture-resistant, which should be the case for any bathroom. Otherwise, there’s just not enough ventilation to cover the space.   In either case, we have the solution.   Listen to the Today’s Homeowner Podcast for that and many more home improvement tips! Kelton began his television career as a staff writer for Saturday Night Live, where he wrote for two seasons during the Eddie Murphy-Billy Crystal-Martin Short years, then served as producer and writer for Night Court and Boy Meets World before advancing to Co-Executive Producer for Universal Studios. He has credits on 22 TV series and over 400 episodes, including specials for Steve Martin and Jay Leno. He has also written articles and screenplays for National Lampoon. In 2004, Kelton was recruited by LRN Corp. to bring his expertise in creative writing to their corporate ethics and compliances training courses as the manager of the LRN writing staff. In that role, Kelton oversaw teams of instructional designers, graphic designers and SMEs to introduce new interactive course formats, simulations and videos. As an instructional designer he has created learning content for Disney, Viacom, Pfizer, Raytheon, Saks Fifth Avenue, The Cheesecake Factory, Amgen, and other global Fortune 500 companies. Currently, Kelton focuses his time on teaching and mentoring TV writers. He teaches TV comedy writing courses with the UCLA Extension Writers' Program, speaks at seminars on TV production and writing, and offers one-on-one mentoring to writers who prefer to study privately or get his expert feedback on their scripts. In his spare time, Kelton writes political columns for Examiner.com. He lives in Santa Clarita, CA with his two children. And by the way, if you didn't guess it, Mr. Kelton wrote this third-person bio.
