This was a cool episode because I was invited to Blackroom R3cords by Evin Bone you'll remember him from episode. He had been working with Blackroom for sometime and thought it would be a good connection for me. I got a chance to see the venue in action and I was very impressed. The event space is huge and versatile. The studio is intimate and cozy. They have a kitchen, a lounge, and entire upstairs portion that was being renovated. Overall I was very impressed and pleased to learn that this place was black owned. Right in the heart of Miami Gardens. I caught up with lead engineer Davito green to learn about his background how he got into music and what brought him to Blackroom. He has a great story of making it happen which is also the title of his upcoming EP “Make It Happen” coming out soon in March. He was inspired by an artist he saw online creating mosaic pieces and decided to try his hand at using guitar picks to recreate the Rolling Stones logo. From there, he went on to create stunning portraits of famous rock stars. John has a heart for charity, and his goal is to sell $1 million dollars worth of art to benefit various charitable causes. He recently partnered with Alice Cooper's Foundation and sold a piece for an incredible $120,000. John is open for commissions and is hoping to work with more celebrity charity foundations to donate his art and raise money for those in need. In the 51st Episode of the Smokey Mirror Podcast I sat down with Coach Fernando Beltran. He's an experienced strength and conditioning coach and he recently moved down here from Chicago to coach at Florida Memorial University. He's since the school but he continues to coach collegiate athletes as well as the general public. He's my trainer and personal friend so I was eager to get to learn more about his background. Fernando credits his first high school strength and conditioning coach, for sparking his interest in fitness and training when he was 14. Soon, he took an interest in training and out of necessity, started training his teammates. He outlines his entire journey to becoming a collegiate coach. There's 2 things that I was really curious about: 1. What was it like coaching at Florida Memorial University and how did you get there? 2. What was that community exercise event that you hosted in Chicago during Covid? He's partnering with Under Armour to host another event in Chicago on May 7th which I will be attending! With everything he's trying to do with these events it was interesting to hear his inspiration and his vision. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he has in the future.
