Did you know that a simple article on illegal street racing sparked a cinematic revolution? Join host Kevin Reid on this thrilling episode of The K. B. Radio Network as he celebrates the 25th anniversary of the iconic film 'The Fast and the Furious. ' What began as a summer action flick has morphed into a global franchise phenomenon, captivating audiences around the world and redefining the action genre. Reid takes you on a nostalgic journey, exploring the film's origins, its unexpected rise to fame, and the cultural impact it has had over the past quarter-century. As he delves into the fascinating backstory, Reid reveals how the film was inspired by a 1998 article that uncovered the underground world of street racing, leading to a cinematic masterpiece that would spawn numerous sequels and spin-offs. He discusses the film's star-studded cast, including the unforgettable performances of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, and shares intriguing behind-the-scenes anecdotes, such as the fact that many of the actors had little to no driving experience at the time of filming. This episode is packed with insights that will make you appreciate the film on a whole new level. Reid doesn't shy away from critiquing the film's narrative, highlighting its character development and the powerful theme of family that resonates throughout the series. He draws a compelling contrast between the original film's grounded storytelling and the increasingly outrageous stunts that characterize its sequels. While the franchise has undoubtedly evolved, Reid ultimately praises the first installment for its emotional depth and relatable themes, giving it a well-deserved letter grade of B+. As the episode draws to a close, Kevin Reid encourages listeners to revisit 'The Fast and the Furious' and reflect on its lasting impact on pop culture. He invites you to share your thoughts and favorite entries in the franchise, fostering a sense of community among fans. Don't miss out on this engaging discussion that not only celebrates a cinematic milestone but also invites you to reflect on what makes a film truly memorable. Tune in to The K. B. Radio Network and rev up your engines for an exhilarating ride down memory lane! Hosted on Ausha. See ausha.co/privacy-policy for more information.

Along the way, they celebrate the strange magic of early '90s B-movies, the lost art of video-store roulette, and the difference between a bad movie that fails and a bad movie that becomes legendary. It is cheap, weird, awkward, unintentionally hilarious, and somehow exactly the kind of cinematic wreckage Disasters in the Making was built to honor.

When an elite SWAT team becomes trapped in a high-rise tenement run by a ruthless drug lord, the only way out is through a 15-story gauntlet of pure, bone-crunching Silat. We're breaking down the legendary hallway scene, the relentless tension, and why this film essentially reset the bar for the entire genre. Tonight, we are joined by two special guests who usually spend their time in the dark corners of the horror genre, but they're making a massive exception for the sheer brutality of this film: ⭐ Jerry from @horrorheadspodcast ⭐ Rich from @horrorheadspodcast YOU ARE THE FINAL JUDGE!

Send us Fan MailHasta la vista, bad sequels.Welcome back to Entertain This!, where we're dissecting Terminator 2: Judgment Day the rare sci-fi blockbuster that gets smarter the more things explode. We're planting our flag early: as far as we're concerned, the franchise ended right here. We're breaking down James Cameron's airtight direction, Linda Hamilton's terrifying intensity, and why Robert Patrick's unblinking T-1000 remains the absolute gold standard for movie villains. We also tackle the heavy hitters:- Does Arnold's "no killing" rule actually hold up when he's shooting out kneecaps?- Can we politely ignore the time travel plot holes?- And why do modern franchises insist on over-explaining perfectly good lore?Stick around after the rating for Mitch's rapid-fire news blitz, dropping quick updates on Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, Star Wars Zero Company, a Code Veronica remake, and Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2.Share this episode with your one friend who still does a terrible Arnold impression.I Need Your Clothes, Your Boots, and Your 5-Star Review! Welcome to another episode of Death Don't Do Fiction, the AIPT Movies podcast! The podcast about the enduring legacy of our favorite movies! It's June, so that means it's time for our “Junesis” series! Where we cover movies based on/revolving around video games! In this week's episode, Alex, Tim, and guest Gordon Jones discuss the reboot that most people watched simply because they couldn't leave the house, 2021's Mortal Kombat! Kano! Kabal! Australian sand pits! Lethal headgear! Fatal freezings! A human hoverboard! Cyber monks! Silly little cybernetic arms! Questionable birthmarks! Poor assassination follow-through! Chekhov's garden gnome! Forced explanations for special powers! A charmingly handmade graphic novel! Arm violence! A sudden, unexplained rivalry! Cool costumes despite a lack of whimsy! A cast that includes Lewis Tan as a brand new character no one really likes, Jessica McNamee, Nathan Jones, Ludi Lin, Josh Lawson stealing the show, and action movie icons Joe Taslim and Hiroyuki Sanada! An adaptation that at the very least finally brings fatalities to the big screen, while being mostly respectful to the source material and throwing in some easter eggs for the fans! In addition, the gang shares their spoiler-free thoughts on Andy Serkis's Animal Farm, They Will Kill You, 2004's The Punisher, 2025's I Know What You Did Last Summer, the first three Thor movies, The new martial arts classic The Furious, Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day, the Korean Netflix series Squid Game, and Alex talks about director and special effects legend Steve Wang's influence on the action movie genre! You can find Death Don't Do Fiction on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. As always, if you enjoy the podcast, be sure to leave us a positive rating, subscribe to the show, and tell your friends! The Death Don't Do Fiction podcast brings you the latest in movie news, reviews, and more! Hosted by supposed “industry vets,” Alex Harris and Tim Gardiner, the show gives you a peek behind the scenes from two filmmakers with oddly nonexistent filmographies. You can find Alex on Twitter, Bluesky, or Letterboxd @actionharris. This episode's guest, Gordon Jones, can be found on instagram @heyitzjonesy. Tim can't be found on social media because he doesn't exist. If you have any questions or suggestions for the Death Don't Do Fiction crew, they can be reached at aiptmoviespod@gmail.com, or you can find them on Twitter or Instagram @aiptmoviespod. Theme song is “We Got it Goin On” by Cobra Man.

Tom Cruise's Body of Work (with Aled Maclean-Jones)

What can Tom Cruise's last impossible mission teach us about usefulness in the digital age? Aled Maclean-Jones argues that dangling from cargo planes, soldering hard drives, and skydiving nineteen consecutive times is really an extended tribute to embodied knowledge. Listen as MacLean-Jones and EconTalk's Russ Roberts analyze the unique concept of competence presented in Cruise's films. Along the way, they cover London cabbies who refuse to use Waze, a fatal dive at the sound barrier, solo sailing around the globe, and the small triumph of fixing a broken toilet by oneself. They conclude by exploring the possibility that physical mastery may come to matter more as computers take over the work of the mind.
