On July 8, 1974, guests at a Disneyland attraction called America Sings, which had six rotation stages showing different acts, were waiting for the next act to start when they heard a bone-chilling scream. Many of the guests thought the scream belonged to the show; however, after one guest noticed what appeared to be a girl stuck in between the ride's rotating stages, the attraction was immediately put to a stop. Another staff member would discover that the attraction's hostess, 18-year-old Deborah Gail Stone, had been fatally crushed. It's unknown how Deborah ended up in her fatal state. After the tragedy, Disneyland installed safety lights and breakaway walls to ensure such accidents would never happen again. Also, it seemed that Deborah Stone herself wanted to prevent others from meeting the same fate. Before the attraction was permanently closed in 1988, several cast members reported hearing a disembodied female voice telling them: "Be careful."Social Media:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thescarecast/?hl=enTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thescarecast?lang=enGo Subscribe to my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@scarecastBuy Merch: https://thescarecast.com/store/Contact me through email: mike@thescarecast.com for any story requests or inquiries, concerns, or advertising inquiries. Our Sponsors:* Check out Drizly: https://drizly.com* Check out Factor 75 and use my code scarecast50 for a great deal: https://www.factor75.com/Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-scarecast/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

OK, so let's face it, these two "Attractions" kinda suck in their current iterations. One isn't even open to the public but rather houses a make shift DVC lounge, the other acts as a small museum and maybe the only place in DHS where Darth Vader can be seen because of the ridiculous time window box Disney painted themselves in in Galaxy's Edge. So before you hard core star wars fans get all excited about new TSR Star wars content, curb your enthusiasm and take this opportunity to learn about what used to be in these spaces. The fascinating history that both of these spaces boast is worth the listen. Hear Dan and Erik explore the detail and history of America Sings and The Backlot Studio tour respectively. Hear Jimmy get increasingly frustrated that they haven't gotten to the topic at hand. Enjoy! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

On this week's show, Disneyland veterans, David and Ronn dive into several sizzling Disney topics. Exploring The Glaring Disneyland Resort Entertainment Void. While a few huge nighttime spectaculars are set to return in just over a week like The Main Street Electrical Parade, the Disneyland Forever Fireworks Show, and World of Color with Fantasmic! set to come about a month later several other essential Disneyland entertainment staples remain non-existent. A Disneyland daytime parade anyone? Speaking of daytime, the sweltering summer heat is coming with merely a fraction of the large indoor air-conditioned entertainment offering providing that much-needed relief from the heat to relax, recover and remain elated to be at the Disneyland Resort. If we had to choose one, what Pixar or Disney Animated film would we select for a Live-Action remake? If you could take any item from Disneyland home with you, what would it be? What are some Disneyland things we really grew to appreciate?Plus, we remember, celebrate, and honor America Sings, Mickey's Kangaroo, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, the Alice in Wonderland attraction, the Tahitian Terrace restaurant, The Disney Channel, and Hayley Mills in this week in Disney history. All this and the big reveal of our Top 5 Underrated Things to do at the Parks, and more!

The stages had audioanimatronic humans and household appliances showing how appliances and electronics advanced about every 20 years from the turn of the century to the "modern" era of the early 1960s. The audience stopped in front of each stage while the characters joked with each other, described life at the time in history, and demonstrated their kitchen. This ride originated at the 1964 New York World's Fair and was installed at Disneyland after the fair closed. The ride was named after Mike Fink, the "King of the River" who lost the keel boat race. The two 38-foot boats, the Gullywhumper and the Bertha Mae, were the actual props that had been used in making the TV shows a few months earlier. The boats were free-floating and traveled around Tom Sawyer Island Riders would sit on benches either inside the cabin or on the roof of the cabin.1997, the Disneyland Gullywhumper boat began to rock side to side. It capsized, dumping a full boatload of passengers into the Rivers of America, leaving several with minor injuries. The boat was removed from the waters for inspection and neither the Gullywhumper nor the Bertha Mae returned for the next operating season. The Bertha Mae was put up on Disney's eBay Auction Site and was sold for $15,000 to Richard Kraft, and was later featured in a scene from Kraft's documentary Finding Kraftland. It was billed as an unseaworthy craft. In 2003, the Gullywhumper returned to the Rivers of America as a prop and is moored on Tom Sawyer Island, where it is visible from the Mark Twain Riverboat, the Sailing Ship Columbia, and the Explorer Canoes.Swiss Family Treehouse (1962–1999): Treehouse based on the film Swiss Family Robinson. Closed due to crowded walkways presenting major safety hazards, meaning the trolleys could only operate on days with sparse crowds. The Jolly Trolley's track is still present in the main walkway of Toontown, and one car stands stationary in the middle of Toontown. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Disneyland has been known to shuffle attractions around between it's parks. Just ask the Main Street Electrical Parade! Today's show is about what fills a void when something leaves the Park. "America Sings" was a show that replaced the "Carousel of Progress" after it's move to Walt Disney World. Terrence takes us through the history of America Sings, from its inception, to it's removal, and beyond.
In the last 20 years or so, Yesterland.com has a line for over 75 iconic locations that have been removed from California Adventure alone. And if you are a long-time…Read the postResurrect or Forget

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - It's time for John and I to visit our laughin' place as we visit Magic Kingdom to ride Splash Mountain! Recorded on March 21, 2018. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we find ourselves in a whole new kind of Briar Patch as we head to Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World to experience Splash Mountain. Magic Kingdom’s guidmap describe the attraction by saying, “Enjoy a thrilling log flume ride based on ‘Song of the South.’” Guests must be 40” or taller to ride and FastPass+ is available. The thrill level of this attraction describes the ride as a Thrill Ride and a Water Ride with Big Drops. Now we covered Splash Mountain at Disneyland back in episode 8 and the development of the ride at Magic Kingdom followed the same path, but here are some more fast facts about Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom. 1. Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom opened officially on October 2, 1992. Interestingly, the Splash Mountain attraction in Tokyo Disneyland opened the day before making for almost simultaneous attraction openings. 2. The original Splash Mountain in Disneyland is located in the Critter Country area of the park. With no Critter Country in Magic Kingdom, Imagineers decided to build the attraction in Frontierland. 3. Because of the attraction being located in Frontierland, the soundtrack of Magic Kingdom’s Splash Mountain differs in instrumentation from Disneyland’s. Disneyland’s features more of a big band sound while Magic Kingdom’s soundtrack has a more bluegrass feel. 4. Nick Stewart who voiced B’rer Bear in the film, Song of the South also voices the character in this attraction. 5. The Magic Kingdom version of Splash Mountain has 68 animatronics. Far fewer than Disneyland’s 103. Of course, the Magic Kingdom Splash Mountain didn’t have the benefit of the closing of America Sings! The attraction where all the animatronics came from. Now, let’s ride Magic Kingdom’s Splash Mountain! Joining me once again is John B. deHaas and after the show we’ll give you our thoughts on this attraction. This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we experience Splash Mountain at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. (((HEADPHONES STRONGLY RECOMMENDED))) This week in the Mouse Lounge: A full docket of Disney News from our departments Entertainment, Theme Parks East, Theme Parks West, News from the Ships, and Business Each week, in From the Vault we sample a clip from a classic Disney film, short, television or radio program, or Disneyland Record. This week we feature from Disneys American Legends, the story of John Henry introduced by James Earl Jones and Narrated by Alfre Woodard. Each week we present a high definition ride-through from a Disney Park East and a Disney Park West. I do capture most live audio myself, but will give proper credit when its due. This week in Disney Parks West, we take journey through Americas musical past and take in the now Yesterland attraction, America Sings! From the Disney Family Museum; tap into the well that was Walt and politics. While he still considered his studio a fraternity, Unionization was on the rise in Hollywood and the Disney studio wasnt immune. Nor was it spared the effects of the growing conflict in Europe which would soon hit very, very close to home. From Disney Parks East, we cross the lagoon in Epcot and disembark in the America Pavilion where we hear the Fife and Drum Corp march into the square. We then go inside the Rotunda and hear the Voices of Liberty perform a rousing rendition of The Star Spangled Banner. Lastly we climb the stars and enter the theater to listen to, The American Adventure. Enjoy!
