Enterprise Connect 2025 Podcast | Technology Reseller News “If your call can be faked, your business can be broken,” warns the team from TC&C, introducing their breakthrough product, DeepFakeGuard, live at Enterprise Connect 2025. Finalists in two categories—Best of Enterprise Connect and Best Innovation in AI—TC&C's AI-powered solution delivers real-time defense against impersonation attacks and AI-generated deception across voice, video, and text communication channels. DeepFakeGuard, developed by the TC&C team including Dr. Csaba Juhasz, Tamas Lukacs (Lead AI Developer), and Adam Bobok (Consultant, U.S. Operations), targets a fast-growing concern. Industry forecasts estimate over $40 billion in deepfake-related losses by 2027, and TC&C aims to address this with a multi-layered, platform-agnostic solution that integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Teams, Webex, SIP-based platforms, and more. “Our solution analyzes communications in real time,” said Lukacs. “It detects AI-generated audio, manipulated video, or altered text before a fraud can be carried out.” Beyond detection, DeepFakeGuard alerts stakeholders, helping organizations shut down attacks before damage occurs. Use cases range from financial institutions and healthcare providers to education and government, where secure, identity-verified communication is critical. "We're hearing a lot about fake purchase orders, fraudulent client impersonations, and misuse of voice changers," Bobok noted. “Whether it's exam cheating or large-scale fraud, DeepFakeGuard is designed to prevent it all.” The team reported enthusiastic response from the Enterprise Connect floor. “Everyone agrees the threat is real, and no one wants to wait until an incident happens to act,” said Juhasz. TC&C is actively seeking partners and resellers interested in embedding DeepFakeGuard into their offerings to enhance client security portfolios. With its unique ability to operate across communication platforms and deliver live alerts, DeepFakeGuard positions TC&C at the forefront of AI-powered security innovation. From Nobel winners to great innovators, Dan Saladino explores the history of prize-winning food ideas that changed the world, including researchers who uncovered the secrets of our stomachs to the plant breeds transforming the future of wheat. Nominations are now open for this year's BBC Food and Farming Awards until June 19th, including Best Innovation which was created to celebrate ideas that will make food production better for us and for the planet. For more than a century, and around the world, ground-breaking ideas linked to food have featured in awards and prizes, from Ivan Pavlov's research on our digestive system through to Norman Borlaug's efforts to increase food production with crop breeding in the 1960s. Both received a Nobel Prize. In more recent years awards have been created to find solutions to some of the biggest challenges we face in food and farming. The former chef of the Swedish restaurant Faviken, Magnus Nilsson now oversees the Food Planet Prize, the world's biggest environmental prize. He tells Dan about previous winners who have created solutions to plastics in our oceans and the problem of abandoned fishing equipment, so called 'ghost nets' and also a project in Africa providing refrigeration to farmers which is resulting in a dramatic reduction in food waste. Another award winner in the programme is Heidi Kuhn, founder of Roots of Peace. This year she was recognised by the US based World Food Prize for decades of work helping to clear mines from regions impacted by conflict and return the land to food production. Produced and presented by Dan Saladino.

Indian Start-Up Creates Vegan Leather from Flowers

Indian start-up Phool.co has found a way to turn discarded temple flowers into vegan leather called “fleather.” Three years ago, the start-up was founded by Ankit Agarwal and Prateek Kumar to address the large amount of floral waste being dumped into the Ganges River. Phool.co upcycles nearly 8,000 kilograms of discarded flowers daily, turning them into charcoal-free incense sticks, organic compost, and biodegradable packaging materials. The company supports around 1,200 rural families by providing a livelihood for local women. Their employees are entitled to health insurance and other employment benefits. According to Agarwal, Phool.co first explored the development of an alternative leather material last year. He said that the company's R&D team got the idea for fleather when they noticed a white layer similar to leather forming on flower waste. Upon inspection, the team found that a microorganism using the petals as a food source is causing the formation of the white material. The team also discovered that fleather contains a kind of protein similar to animal leather's collagen, which gives it strength and durability. He added that like traditional animal leather, fleather is elastic and not prone to breakage, making it a viable and even possibly superior alternative. Last February, Phool.co was awarded the “Best Innovation in Vegan Fashion” title for fleather at the Circular Design Challenge, where aspiring designers and entrepreneurs are recognized for their innovative and sustainable ideas for fashion. Fleather also caught the interest of a famous Indian designer, who expressed that she wants to work with the new material. Apart from awards and recognition, the start-up also recently secured a $1.4 million investment through the help of an angel investor and a charitable organization. Phool.co will use the money to expand its operations and advance its research.

Today we share Sam Smith’s story.  Sam came to our first Charlotte Angel Connection event last February (where we first met) and has been back to each one since. She has a thirst to be part of and leading the Charlotte entrepreneurial scene.  It’s led her to start Vishion, Collective Hustle and put on the 1st Seed the South event in January 2019.  All three are great getting great traction and we're excited to see them grow and the impact they will have on Charlotte! Vishion is her startup. It’s the only mobile app that uses a product’s true color data, fashion trend and user preferences to help shoppers find the ideal color. The concept came to her after her own frustrating experience after falling in love with the blackspash in the bar at Kindred on a date night with her husband. Sam’s the type of person who once she latched onto her idea, she just never let go. Collective Hustle is a Charlotte investor and startup coalition looking to improve the Queen City’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.  She started it last year with Aru from botSplash.  They host invitation only events with a focus on inclusion and ways to assist female and minority entrepreneurs in Charlotte. Seed the South was last month. It took a huge effort from Sam and her team to get it off the ground and served as Charlotte’s first non-Fintech Demo Day. Check out our podcast with Sam today to hear more about how the last couple of years have shaped who she is.  It’s a great podcast as we sat down and had a couple of Triple C beers one Friday afternoon. Local Note and Thoughts: Stay tuned for Emir and James – co-founders of Rabbu – on the podcast next week.  Rabbu recently wrapped up a $1.5 million funding round and they are ready for the next stage of growth.  Listen in next week to learn how they got here and where they plan to go. Finsiders had their annual awards earlier this week.  Sam Smith won the Dan Roselli Community Organizer award.  Derek Wang, CEO and Founder of Stratifyd won for Best Innovation. Tim Griffin, CEO and Founder of Cloosiv, won for Risk Taker/Fail Fast.  Mark Mahoney, CEO and Founder of Jack Rabbit Technologies won the 2019 Change Champion.  Congrats to all the winners. The Charlotte Angel Connection next quarterly event is in the works – though the date may be changing to accommodate the company. John Cambier and Lister Delgado from IDEA Fund Partners will be in Charlotte to do an on-stage Partner Pitch (the pitch will be from 6:30 to 7:30pm) – which means they are going to go into detail with an entrepreneur about their company as though they are interested in investing – and they may even be.  I hope to have the company named by the podcast for next week.  Stay tune and come see a professional team in due diligence. Also SeedSpark – a technology and digital solutions company – is going to sponsor our first ever Entrepreneur Date Night Award.  We will have the startups in attendance (demo tables) vote on the entrepreneur they think is most worthy of a $100 gift certificate to a Charlotte area restaurant. It’s a small token to the countless spousal/significant dinners founders must give up as they bring their projects to life. QC Fintech is also in the process of interviewing for their spring class and after speaking with Dan recently they are seeing some really good companies.  Be on the lookout for announcements for the spring class and the opportunities you will have to meet them and ultimately support them as they come to Charlotte for 12 weeks to incubate their ideas and companies.       William Bissett is an Investment Advisor Representative with Secrest Blakey & Associates, a Registered Investment Adviser.  Opinions expressed on this program do not necessarily reflect those of Secrest Blakey & Associates.
