Like the seasons transition from planting to plucking, the teacher in Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us there are seasons not only in individual lives and families, but in groups, institutions, and churches as well. Our job is to discern what season we are in, recognize what is called of us in that season, and determine to live with God and each other through that season. This morning let's look at some different times and seasons on the horizon for Bethany Church.
FrontStage BackStage with Jason Daye - Healthy Leadership for Life and Ministry
In our society, which is filled with competing and mixed allegiances, how can we best minister across all generations, and especially our younger generations? In this week's conversation on FrontStage BackStage, host Jason Daye is joined by Eli Bonilla Jr. Eli is a leader in the next-gen space, serving in a variety of capacities on national ministry networks. Eli also serves as the global next-gen pastor at Bethany Church in Louisiana. He has recently released his first book entitled Mixed. Eli helps drive us back to the heart of Christ, as he shares what they are seeing as most effective in ministry today.Dig deeper into this conversation: Find the free Weekly Toolkit, including the Ministry Leaders Growth Guide, all resource links, and more, at http://PastorServe.org/networkSome key takeaways from this conversation:Eli Bonilla Jr on how the increasing awareness of diversity should lead to a more profound and enriched theological perspective on unity, with Christ as the central focus: "As our awareness of diversity grows, the depth of our theology around a Christ-centered unity should deepen."Eli Bonilla Jr on the importance of having a strong belief in Christ who provides a sense of purpose and direction: "For those that don't have an anchor in Christ there will always be a fight for significance and purpose."Eli Bonilla Jr on having a strong and genuine interpersonal connection that gives weight to one's words and allows them to exert influence on others: "Whoever has that face-to-face relationship still has the equity to speak into and influence."----------------Looking to dig more deeply into this topic and conversation? Big Idea: May God sanctify us completely while we live in unity together longing for Christ's return. Description: As Paul closes this letter he prays for the people of Thessalonica, that their whole selves would be transformed by God himself, and that they might be blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. As they wait he commands them to live in complete unity with each other. This morning we will see how Paul's encouragement is just as true for the people of Bethany Church today.
We speak with sincerity, and love. Is Bethany Church a church to be apart of? Is this a church that meets the requirements the scripture gives? Is this a biblical church to be involved with / in? What do we expect from this message? To see the people of Bethany church repent, and come to the knowledge of the truth, to proclaim the truth of God's word. Which is, Christ commanded us to live holy, and walk in obedience toward God, blameless. (1 Peter 1:16) What does the scripture say about a requirement for pastors? • 1 Timothy 3:2. • Titus: 1:6-7. Original video: https://youtu.be/9zS-ffnU0IA Both are requirements for a preacher, pastor, elder, and someone in authority. Please watch with an open heart to see what's taught here at Bethany Church. We love everyone here, and truly desire to see their hearts turn in repentance from sin, to serve the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to walk in perfect obedience toward God. (1 John 2:4-6) God bless,

In this episode we interview Joshua Riggs, Worship Pastor at Bethany Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He also has a great website WorshipResources.church with free and inexpensive resources for your church. WorshipResourches.Church shows you how to get and use sermon graphics, videos, social media, motion backgrounds, stock photos, and more. His website helps you discover and learn how to use quality resources to make your church look better. Check it out! Our discussion is about how we can do a better job live streaming our church services. Conversation starter: How is live streaming working for you? What are the limitations? VIDEO Switcher Studio is the system that is currently used in Adam's church and Brandon's church. Next step with physical cameras would be an ATEM Mini Pro ($600) that has 4 video inputs and audio. Also, ATEM Studio ($1,000) with 8 inputs / SDI connections HDMI has limitations. SDI is broadcast/standard. Joshua recommends thinking long term (next 3 to 5 years) and purchase gear that is scaleable. Cameras- Canon or Panasonic 4k options ($1,200-$2,000) Canon XA45 - 4K is about $2,000 PTZ is low profile, but not recommended. AUDIO "The most important thing about video streaming is the audio." Get your audio from the board using an interface like iRig. You should use the Aux out from the board or bus mis, not the main house mix. Things sound different in the sanctuary versus on someone's phone, tablet, or TV. It needs to be a different mix. Monitor it with headphones and solo out the mix you put the live stream on. Most large churches have a separate mixer to get the audio to live stream. Best option is to use an AUX from the board, set everything to POST FADE anduse headphones to monitor the mix. *** This is part one of this interesting conversation. We still have 40 more minutes that will be released later *** In part two, we will discuss how to get your live feed from your church and to the internet. We discuss Facebook, YouTube, embedding the service directly on your website, lighting, camera angles, pastor's attire, talking to the camera, online host to talk to guests, what to do when the feed is disrupted, and more. Joshua also shares blogs, podcasts, and YouTube channels that he recommends for church media. Subscribe to the podcast so you will get a notification when part two airs. What about when my heart isn't really in it? Today we take a look at the Biblical picture of joy and what it means to CHOOSE Joy, RETURN to Joy, GIVE Joy Away, and CELEBRATE Joy. After a quick glimpse into how he met his fiance (1:35:55-1:39:00), we digressed again, this time into a conversation about dogs and cats and giant chickens and more fiance talk (1:39:00-1:49:25). 119: Pastor Richard Dahlstrom: Senior Pastor at Bethany Community Church, Author of “The Colors of Hope,” “The Map is not the Journey,” “Breathing New Life into Faith,” and Torchbearer Bible Teacher for Timberline Ministries went from losing his dad at a young age to merging mountains with his ministry. Pastor Richard Dahlstrom How exactly did Pastor Richard Dahlstrom develop a love of the mountains? Pastor Richard Dahlstrom grew up right outside of Yosemite in Fresno, California. When he was young, his father experienced severe pneumonia and bronchitis, ultimately taking his life at only 53-years-old. By the time Richard’s father was 40, he had really weak lungs, even after being athletic in his youth and never being a smoker. When he was living, he struggled to elevate beyond 3000 feet without breathing complications. After losing his dad when Richard was only 17, self-care and connecting to the outdoors became even more crucial to him. On this episode of Finding Your Summit Podcast, we talk with Pastor Richard Dahlstrom, Senior Pastor at Bethany Community Church, Author of “The Colors of Hope,” “The Map is not the Journey,” “Breathing New Life into Faith,” and Torchbearer Bible Teacher for Timberline Ministries. In fact, “The Map is not the Journey” is about Richard and his wife of 40 years hiking through The Alps for 40 days. He met his wife in a speech class after he relocated to Seattle to study music. “Hiking, rock climbing, and mountaineering are the best teachers of what it means to live a whole life. I really feel like when I’m out there I am learning lessons that can’t be learned anywhere else.” What You Will Learn: “My wife and I we started a program, and the best way to describe it would be a blend of bible school and outward bound, where we were integrating bible teaching with rock climbing.” They continued to do this for six years and it just clarified for Pastor Richard Dahlstrom the importance of getting out in the world and directly encountering what God has to say to them through creation and not just by studying text. “When God made us, He made us as whole people. We are not just brains. We are not just spirit. We are spirits and we have souls, like a mind and an emotional being and we have a body, and all of those things work together as an ecosystem.” By ignoring the maintenance of either the mind, emotions, or the body, all the others may suffer. We can’t be any good to others if our body is in poor shape. His dad’s death really weighed in on the priority he takes in his health and making the most of each moment. “As a pastor, I go, ‘man, both the Jewish tradition and the Christian tradition are filled with passages in the bible that say, ‘we are learning the goodness of God and the glory of God through creation.’ So, that everytime I’m taking a breath it’s gratitude.” He discusses how he has witnessed people skiing that are surrounded by the beauty of nature that God created for us to enjoy. But they were too busy arguing or cursing to allow their spirit to be moved by the experience. Pastor Richard Dahlstrom talks about self-care and how he incorporates it into his teachings. “I believe that we are designed to live our life out from a full cup. So, if I have a full cup, and I see you by the side of the road and you are thirsty, then I have the resources to say, ‘Hey Mark, come over here man. There is plenty in my cup. Let me share with you.’ That whole mindset, it creates a mentality of abundance where I go, ‘there is not just enough, there is more than enough.’” In order to live with a full cup with the ability to share requires that we have to live with a full cup emotionally, bodily, and spiritually. Richard and Mark discuss how they have followed the Everest tragedies that have occurred in 2019. Mark shares a personal story of someone he knew that lost fingers and toes, and then eventually died on Mount Everest. Pastor Richard Dahlstrom addresses the importance of being prepared for challenging tasks, but also having the willingness to back away and recognize when you are in over your head and not letting pride and ego force you to forge onward into a dangerous situation. Becoming a Preacher Pastor Richard Dahlstrom talks about how he got reacquainted with God on a ski retreat after letting the words of a motivational speaker sink in. The speaker’s theme for the weekend was Knowing God. “He said, ‘I’m just here to tell you guys that none of you are ever going to live the life for which you created unless you make knowing God a central goal.” At this point in Richard’s life, he had stepped away from God, and this speech left a strong enough impression that he enrolled in Alaska Bible College and started helping other people get to know God. Have Flexible Goals Richard Dahlstrom believes that it is important to not just have goals but to have goals that are flexible enough to adjust and adapt when need be to ensure that you evolve and change towards being where you are most needed. He was preaching to a small group in the mountains and was told by a guy he met in India who was from Seattle that he should go apply to a big church in Seattle. Pastor Richard Dahlstrom reluctantly did so and was hired by a unanimous vote. In hindsight, Richard believes that moving to Seattle to preach was the best decision he and his wife have made together.
