Is self-help real or nonsense? Jason and Peter have always been skeptical of the ability for self-help books and seminars to impact and improve a person's life…they even delved into the comedic aspects of the self-help world with their 2001 ABC sitcom “Bob Patterson.” So, when they discovered that Judd Apatow…uber successful screenwriter, producer, noted comedian, author and director of a myriad of cultural-defining comedies such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, This is 40, Funny People, Trainwreck and The King of Staten Island was a bit obsessed with the self-help genre… they needed to find out why! They discuss Judd's journey to self-help, his unique Ayahuasca experience, and why he writes his comedies as dramas! Really,no Really!!! *** IN THIS EPISODE: Is self-help real or nonsense? How Judd's parent's constant fighting enabled him to become a good producer & comedian. That one-time Judd took the hallucinogen Ayahuasca in exotic Studio City, CA… His comedic choices have become more geriatric as he's grown older. Was he afraid of being cancelled when returning to stand-up? The time high-school aged Judd asked Seinfeld to do a SECOND interview! Jason and Judd explore how they both came to the entertainment world. Today's guest is screenwriter Brian Herskowitz. He wrote the book called Process to Product: From Concept to Script: A Practical Guide for the Screenwriter. Like millions before him, Brian Herskowitz moved out to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. He soon learned that there was a dearth of roles for shorter leading men and began searching for other outlets for his creative passions. In 1980 he wrote his first screenplay, an action thriller about a young man who moves to Tokyo to train for the Olympics in Judo and gets caught up in an intrigue with the Yakuza. Through that script, based on his true-life experience as an international judo competitor, he uncovered a knack and passion for writing. As a writer, Brian has completed well over a dozen feature films. His first produced feature was a low budget slasher titled DARKROOM. He currently has several projects in active development including, THE ABDUCTION, THE EMPRESS OF ELSEWHERE (co-written with Theresa Nelson based on her best selling novel), TAKE A RIDE, and FAIRIES (co-written with Pam Dawber and Andy Tobey). His TV credits include a staff writing position on the NBC sit-com BLOSSOM, multiple episodes of the syndicated series HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS, and ACAPULCO HEAT, the HBO hit comedy DREAM ON, CBS's RENEGADE, THE EXILE, MURDER, SHE WROTE, the FOX Network's YOUNG HERCULES, and CBS's critically acclaimed was series TOUR OF DUTY (associate producer). Brian co-wrote the FOX pilot MANTIC with Jason Alexander. In addition, he worked as a punch-up writer on BOB PATTERSON, and LISTEN UP.Brian currently holds the title of lead faculty in screenwriting for the prestigious BOSTON UNIVERSITY IN LOS ANGELES - WRITER IN HOLLYWOOD PROGRAM. Brian has taught online for UCLA EXTENSTIONS and has had students from every corner of the earth. Enjoy my conversation with Brian Herskowitz.
Michael Reagan is the eldest son of the former President of the United States, Ronald Reagan. Reagan is also a boat racer with a history dating back to the mid-sixties when he made his mark competing in famous marathon races such as the Colorado River Nine Hour Enduro and the Salton Sea 500. In this episode, Reagan discusses his renowned father and the path that led him to powerboats. Reagan informed us that his original marathon race boat was the first glass boat constructed by Bob Patterson of Patterson Boats. The flatbottom was equipped with a V-drive and a single overhead cam Ford engine built by Holman and Moody. In the early '80s, Reagan collaborated with Larry Smith, the owner of Scarab boats, and initiated a series of endurance runs as fundraisers for charitable organizations. Reagan's most notable achievement was his "Assault on the Mississippi" where he broke the record for the 1,027-mile run from New Orleans to St. Louis, making the trip in 25 hours. With financial backing from sponsors Bud Light, W.R. Grace, Descente Clothing, and Justice Brothers, the run raised $500,000 for the US Olympic Committee. Reagan's 38 ft. Scarab was powered by three of the newly released 430hp V-8 Evinrudes. Following an illustrious career as a conservative radio talk show host, bestselling author, and political speaker, Reagan now serves as the president of the Reagan Legacy Foundation, which he established to commemorate his father's achievements and to educate and inspire people worldwide to cherish freedom and liberty. When Peter and Jason discovered that there was a museum dedicated to failure, their response was of course… Really, no really? They both began to ruminate about their own failures and the relationship between failure and innovation, so they turned to Swedish psychologist and innovation researcher, Dr. Samuel West for more insight. Dr. West is the curator of the Museum of Failure, a collection of over 150 failed products and services from around the world. This rare collection includes flops designed by world famous companies like Colgate's Beef Lasagna. And if anyone could make Jason and Peter feel better about their failed T.V. show… Bob Patterson… it should be Dr. West. During their conversation you'll hear: The worst thing Anthony Bourdain ever ate. The beloved American beverage considered disgusting by the rest of the world. Why Procter & Gamble invented the phrase ‘anal leakage.' Jason's notorious McDonalds fail. The secret reason Oreos come in so many crazy flavors. The small-bladdered golf enthusiasts dream accessory. The automotive failure that featured a Frank Sinatra TV show & a female genitalia-like grill. The “Failure Paradox”. Silicon Valley's “fail fast” ethos. And you can take the Failure quiz! In this very post-Seinfeld episode of One and Done TV, Ian and John motivationally speak about the 2001 ABC sitcom Bob Patterson starring Jason Alexander and Chaundra Wilson! The titular Bob Patterson is “America's Third Most Popular Self-Help Guru” who happens to be simultaneously egotistical and the butt of every joke. This ratings bomb only aired for one month and viewers were not fond of Jason Alexander's first project since playing George Costanza. Ian and John share their thoughts on watching The Batman. The guys decide they'll never forget where they were when Big Trouble was delayed. They struggle to comprehend who John Tesh is and why he never breaks a contract. All this and less…much, much less.Logo by Hannah Bess RossMusic by Adam BarnettAudio Editing by Ian HamiltonCreated/Produced by Ian Hamilton & John PoelkingFollow Us on Twitter and Instagram @oneanddonetvEmail us oneanddonepod@gmail.comwebsite us @ oneanddonetv.comBrought to you by Lack of Hustle Media
The Congressional Medal of Honor is the United States government's highest and most prestigious military decoration. The stories associated with earning such an award are often inspiring, sad, and in many cases, down right unbelievable. If you ever have the chance to sit down with one of these individuals, I highly recommend you do. On todays episode I am humbled to welcome Medal of Honor recipient, and legendary story teller, Ret. US Army Command SgtMaj Bob Patterson, who, after his HS girlfriend pissed him off, decided to join the Army. We talk about his adventures in Vietnam, the day he earned the Medal of Honor, and plenty of stories that you just cant make up, like seeing two WWII legends in their annual fist fight. Enjoy!

It was so great having Lee Patterson on the Podcast. Lee truly epitomizes the Cowboy in so many ways. I know you will enjoy our conversation...Lee Patterson was born and raised on a small ranch outside of Whitefish Mt. His father Bob Patterson was rodeo Calf roper ,and his grandfather ,Fred was was a cowboy who worked on many of the old Montana ranches. Patterson's son RJ is a cowboy and Patterson takes pride in watching his grandsons Colt and Jett continue the family tradition for the fifth generation. “ That's the thing that holds the network of family together is riding and horses ,” Patterson said. Our deal is cows and horses and rodeo. Patterson was recently inducted into the Montana Pro Rodeo Hall of Frame. He was one of the several individuals who where awarded for their contributions to Rodeo and the western way of life in Montana. “ It has been really rewarding to me to be a cowboy .” He said. Patterson still lives on his family ranch in Whitefish Mt. He recalls as a child driving all night with the family so his father could get to a rodeo, and the young age at which he and his siblings began to ride and help on the ranch. My Grandfather was a famous cowboy following World War I , “ Patterson said. He would give railroad workers rides to town on his horses. He raised and sold horses to the Army. Patterson himself has spent years competing in rodeos in the northwest where he roped calves and team roped. Patterson has a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Gold Card, a lifetime membership in the PRCA. After high school Patterson worked on a ranch in Arizona, while attending the University of Arizona part-time. When working on the ranch we had 125 head of horses something was always breaking ,Patterson said. The head Wrangler taught me how to repair and maintain the saddles. That is where I got my start on building saddles, then later went back to Montana and opened a Western store with a saddle shop in back. After selling the store I spent full time building saddles, for many years I built 50 t 52 saddles each year. Now it is a much slower pace my designs are more refined and I enjoy working on new tooling patterns and trying new ideas. In 2019 I won first place in saddles carved divisionAt the World Leather Debut. This is a contest that has been taking place for 20 years in Sheridan WY. It is the largest contest for saddle makers that I know of, and it was a true honor to win . Many of the great past and current saddle makers have won this contest like Don King, Don Butler and Keith Seidel and for me it is a highlight of more than 40 years of building saddles. Now I build saddles for ranchers and , team ropers most of my saddles get used hard but some just go into the living room to look at. I am so blessed to have the family and friends I do and get to get up each day knowing that I get to do something I love to do.Resources: @leepattersonmt Show Sponsors: LINK IN BIO USE CODE: “MODERNCOWBOY” @moderncowboyperformance www.moderncowboy.global @nrsworld Show Music: “The Ropin Pen” By: Trent Willmon https://trentwillmon.com/ (https://trentwillmon.com/) MC Podcast Production & Editing: Tyler Hillenbrand @tyhbrand

Get ready for some situations, and maybe even some comedy, as we drop the first episode in our "S(t)einfeld Stinkers" series! This time Jason Alexander goes from lovably enraged loser George Costanza to a third rate Tony Robbins named Bob Patterson. The ep we watched, "Naked Bob," deals with his serious confidence issues regarding his downtown region. That's right, there's lots of boner talk in this one! (more so even than usual!) With the biggest comedy hit of all time only a few years behind him, how did J-Xan's followup sitcom fold faster than Kramer in The Contest?? This old-school style ABC laugh-track comedy aired only 5 episodes before getting nixed. I mean, seriously, what is the deal? Today's guest is screenwriter Brian Herskowitz. He wrote the book called Process to Process to Product: From Concept to Script: A Practical Guide for the Screenwriter.Like millions before him, Brian Herskowitz moved out to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. His TV credits include a staff writing position on the NBC sit-com BLOSSOM, multiple episodes of the syndicated series HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS, and ACAPULCO HEAT, the HBO hit comedy DREAM ON, CBS’s RENEGADE, THE EXILE, MURDER, SHE WROTE, the FOX Network’s YOUNG HERCULES, and CBS’s critically acclaimed was series TOUR OF DUTY (associate producer).
