In this video, we dissect the Democrats' latest claims about border security and immigration policies with the election just 92 days away. We start by analyzing Kamala Harris's new campaign ad, which falsely accuses Donald Trump of blocking Border Patrol agent increases, despite the Democrats themselves blocking the Secure the Border Act of 2023 (H.R. 2) that aimed to hire 22,000 new agents. We'll also explore the mess that has been the Biden-Harris immigration policy, including their false promises and the puzzling decision to prioritize 80,000 new IRS agents over Border Patrol agents. Plus, we highlight Kamala Harris's past opposition to border funding and how her current stance contradicts her earlier position. Additionally, we'll cover viewer comments on how illegal immigration is straining local services and provide an update on Carvana's stock, which surged by 26% recently. Florida Democratic Representative Maxwell Frost faced ridicule online Wednesday for his approach to Republican proposed immigration legislation. Frost proposed that his Republican counterparts consider passing a symbolic bill to dismantle the Statue of Liberty, aligning with what he perceives as their restrictive immigration stance. During a House Oversight and Accountability Committee discussion on H.R.2, a gathering reinforcing border security aptly named the Secure the Border Act, the congressman's theatrical move took center stage. This legislation in question, rolled out by the House Republicans, seeks to amend the asylum process for border-crossers and mandates resumed construction of the border wall. Newly minted in Congress, Frost was among a host of Democrats standing against the GOP's proposed law. However, his distinctive act was the fabrication of a satirical legislative text, whose primary objective was to take down the Statue of Liberty, significantly associated with America's immigration-friendly history.   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The U.S. Senate is postponing its holiday break to vote next week on a critical package combining military aid for Ukraine and Israel with contentious border security reforms. The decision reflects deep divisions among Senate Democrats, particularly over proposed border policy changes linked to the funding. Emerging from the House's Secure the Border Act, these reforms, which some Democrats fear could harshly impact asylum policies, have sparked significant concern. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's decision to schedule this vote signifies the urgency and complexity of balancing national security with humane immigration practices. As Senators remain in Washington to resolve this, the question arises: will they reach an agreement that satisfies both foreign aid commitments and the contentious aspects of U.S. border policy? If Congressmen are serious about border security, they will use the power of the purse to secure America's borders, according to Lora Ries.Congress is gearing up for debates over the federal budget and some Republicans say they won't support any spending bill that gives money to the Department of Homeland Security without action being taken to secure the border, a hard line Ries, director of the Center for Border Security and Immigration at The Heritage Foundation, says she supports. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Heritage Foundation.)The changes needed to secure the border are comprised in the Secure the Border Act, also known as H.R. 2, Ries says. The House has already passed the bill.If passed by the Senate and signed into law, the bill would "tackle asylum fraud" and end programs like "mass parole" and "catch and release," Ries says."These are the types of tools that are needed to really secure the border and keep that flow stopped, and otherwise just giving more money to the administration is going to continue their current open border operations," Ries says.Ries joins "The Daily Signal Podcast" to explain why the fight to secure America's border is so critical to the nation's future. Last month, on his way back to Great Britain, MintPress contributor Kit Klarenberg was detained and interrogated. The investigative journalist was met at the airport by six anonymous plainclothes counter-terror officers, who seized his electronic devices, and memory cards and took his fingerprints and DNA. Under Schedule Three, Section Four of the U.K. 2019 Counter-Terrorism and Border Act, they grilled him for over five hours, asking probing questions on everything from his opinions on the current British leadership to Vladimir Putin to 9/11.For Klarenberg, the real reason he was being targeted had nothing to do with terrorism and everything to do with his investigative reporting that has exposed the machinations of the British state. In recent months, this has included revealing that British spies plotted to bomb the Kerch Bridge in Crimea, how the U.K. government is constructing a “secret terror army” in Ukraine, and how British intelligence seemingly worked with state broadcaster, the BBC to smear anti-war academics. While the United Kingdom continues to enjoy a reputation for being an island of relative freedom, prosperity and democracy, Klarenberg challenged this idea, pointing to several Draconian laws passed under the guise of keeping the public safe. As he told Adley: Britain has, for a very long time, had the most sweeping counter-terror laws in the Western world and arguably in the world. They have overturned centuries-old and hard-fought-for rights, protections and freedoms that average citizens enjoy, and have granted police sweeping and disturbingly vague powers.” Klarenberg's reporting has also uncovered many connections between established corporate media and the U.K. national security state, to the point where it is sometimes hard to ascertain where one ends and the other begins. As he said:For many, the Klarenberg case seems eerily reminiscent of the treatment of another journalist forgotten by his mainstream colleagues: of Julian Assange. Assange remains confined in Belmarsh high-security prison in London while British authorities negotiate with their American counterparts on whether to send him stateside. What is clear is that critical investigative journalism is under attack and that those who value a free press must stand together to fight against it.Support the showMintPress News is a fiercely independent. National security has become top of mind for many lawmakers as the expiration of Title 42 leaves border towns & sanctuary cities at risk, and the threat from foreign adversaries like China, Russia, and North Korea remains strong. In response, House Republicans have gotten to work addressing these concerns, passing the "Secure the Border Act" in the House last week, aiming to tighten border security & provide more border patrol resources. Meanwhile, House Intelligence Committee Chairman, Congressman Mike Turner, has been working to strengthen foreign relations -- leading a bipartisan congressional delegation to the Middle East to meet with key leaders and intelligence services. Rep. Turner (R-OH) joins to discuss why he believes it's "inhumane" of President Biden to allow the border to remain in its current state, what insight he gained from meeting with allies overseas, and how the U.S. should be working to deter adversarial threats. The Biden administration is reinvigorating its push for green energy reform as the Department of Energy recently proposed new limits and rules for American appliances like washers, dryers, refrigerators, and stoves. These government regulations have already had an impact on the country, with New York becoming the first state in the country to ban gas stoves in new buildings starting in 2026. Vice President of Communications and Marketing for the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, Jill Notini, joins the podcast to share how the new rules could negatively impact low-income families, why these limits may reverse the efficiency of common appliances, and why a switch to lower-energy-use appliances may cost the consumer much more than it will save them. Learn more at concordispartners.com https://www.foxnews.com/politics/border-patrol-chief-authorizes-release-migrants-us-without-court-dates-title-42-ends Border Patrol chief authorizes release of migrants into US without court dates as Title 42 ends The head of U.S. Border Patrol has sent out a memo authorizing the release of illegal migrants into the U.S. without court dates if agents face overcrowding as the Biden administration scrambles to deal with a historic surge in migration at the border ahead of the end of Title 42. The memo says that migrants can be allowed into the country on parole — a process typically reserved for "urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit" — if Customs and Border Protection (CBP) faces overcrowding. The memo calls the practice "parole with conditions" as migrants are required to make an appointment with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or request a Notice to Appear by mail. Under a parole release, migrants are rapidly released into the country, do not get an alien registration number and do not receive a court date. The use of parole is being authorized if a sector capacity goes above 125%, if agents apprehend 7,000 a day over 72 hours or if average time in custody goes above 60 hours. Agents have been encountering over 10,000 migrants a day since Monday, and there are no signs of that slowing down with the looming end of Title 42, which is expected to bring an even bigger wave with it. The memo noted the enormous numbers agents are encountering. "For the past 7 days, USBP has averaged over 8,750 encounters per day. This is over double the average daily encounters of 4,284 in May of 2019, the highest month of the 2019 surge. Even with significant personnel along the SWB, a significant detention capacity, and interagency resources supporting the effort, this situation requires urgent action," the memo states. The public health order has been used since March 2020 to expel over two million migrants due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Biden administration has told migrants that it will not be easier to enter the U.S. once the order drops as there will be stiffer penalties until Title 8. Parole is not a Title 8 authority. The use of parole is legally questionable, with critics arguing it is not supposed to be used to wave in thousands of migrants. The state of Florida successfully sued the Biden administration in March to block a similar policy, "Parole + ATD." On Thursday, Fox Digital reported that Florida sued this week over the latest plan to release migrants into the U.S. interior, saying it is "materially identical" to the policy that the federal court enjoined. "Florida seeks a temporary restraining order to preserve the status quo until the parties can brief motions for a preliminary injunction or to postpone the effective date of the new policy," the lawsuit states. "The Biden Administration’s behavior, if left unchecked, makes a mockery of our system of justice and our Constitution." The judge has given the Biden administration a 4 p.m. deadline Thursday to respond to the request for a temporary restraining order, adding that it appears the administration is "preparing to flout" the court’s order. A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson this week claimed that the releases are similar to those conducted by prior administrations. https://thepostmillennial.com/breaking-house-votes-yes-on-measure-to-secure-us-mexico-border?utm_campaign=64487 House votes YES on Secure Border Act in 219-213 vote, includes e-Verify requirement, with 2 Republicans joining Democrats to vote against border security On Thursday, House Representatives debated the Secure the Border Act of 2023 as Title 42 expired at the southern border, which lays out sweeping new requirements and restrictions for securing the southern border. The bill passed 219-213. Two Republicans, Reps. Thomas Massie and John Duarte voted along side all Democrat members against the bill. The bill was introduced to the House of Representatives on May 2 in anticipation of the flood of illegal immigrants expected in the wake of Title 42, which allowed expulsions due to the pandemic emergency. The bill calls for the "immediate resumption of border wall construction" no later than seven days after the bill is enacted, using previously set aside funds and materials for its construction. No later than 180 days after the bill is enacted, a report shall be submitted to congressional committees that outlines a strategic 5-year technology investment plan for border security, including potential upgrades in security technology, communications equipment, screening equipment, incorporating in input from the private sector. In an effort to retain Border Patrol personnel, the bill will authorize up to $100,000,000 in appropriated funds for the Commissioner of the US Customs and Border Protection to give to front-line agents who hold a position equal to or below level GS-12, has been with Border Patrol for five years or longer, and commits two additional years of service with Border Patrol upon acceptance of the bonus. The bill also requires that the Commissioner hire and train enough Border Patrol agents to maintain an active duty presence of no less than 22,000 full-time agents. The bill also includes a provision prohibiting the requirement to take a Covid-19 vaccine or adverse actions taken against a Department of Homeland Security employee. The Secretary of Homeland Security would be required to send a report no later than 60 days after the bill is enacted on whether Mexican drug cartels meet the criteria for being designated as a foreign terrorist organization. The bill amends the Immigration and Nationality Act, stating that those found not to be eligible for parole shall be deported from the country. The bill also increases penalties for illegal entry or presence in the country from $50-$250 up to $500-$1000. Illegal immigrants who overstay a visa are subject to imprisonment of no more than six months and/or a fine for the first offense, and a fine and/or no more than two years of imprisonment for subsequent offenses. Wesleyan University announced last week that, following a pressure campaign from the university's Young Democratic Socialists of America chapter, the school would now pay for any student to get an abortion or emergency contraceptives. The school has also committed to footing the bill for any transportation costs incurred by students seeking abortions. “Consistent with the health center’s mission to provide education and support in the decision-making process, students will be able to access emergency contraceptives by consulting with a nurse at Davison Health Center," the university told NBC Connecticut in a statement. The decision comes after the Young Democratic Socialists of America chapter at Wesleyan collected over 700 signatures on a petition that urged the school to "ensure all students are able to overcome financial burdens to and lack of transportation for abortion procedures." "This victory comes in the wake of landmark efforts by Barnard College students to secure abortion pills on campus as well as a broader movement for reproductive justice nationwide," the student organization said in a press release. "Wesleyan now plays a pioneering role in reproductive healthcare among private liberal arts colleges by committing to cover the entire cost of abortion after insurance for all students." After the Supreme Court issued a ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade last year, the availability of abortion for college students has gained increased attention, as numerous states with widely recognized state universities have banned abortion altogether. Students have increasingly reported that access to abortion has become a factor in their college decision-making process. Democratic-controlled states, meanwhile, have taken steps to make abortion as available to college students as a flu shot. "We can confirm that Daniel Penny will be arrested on a charge of Manslaughter in the Second Degree," a spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney's Office said. "We cannot provide any additional information until he has been arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court, which we expect to take place tomorrow." On May 1, Penny, a 24-year-old Marine veteran and college student, put 30-year-old Jordan Neely in a fatal chokehold after what police described as an altercation on a northbound F train. Neely was allegedly threatening passengers on the subway and having a mental episode. He was yelling and pacing back and forth, when Penny interjected, tackled him to the ground and put him in a chokehold, witnesses and police said. The incident sparked protests and violent clashes last week after the Marine veteran was taken into custody and released. However, based on new information, that might be over soon, and potentially in Araiza’s favor. During a nearly year long investigation by San Diego police and detailed review by prosecutors, they have come to the conclusion that the alleged gang rape that the female plaintiff accused Araiza of being part of stands in question since evidence shows that Arazia, then a college student at the time when the plaintiff was 17-years-old, was not even present during the alleged crime. Yahoo Sports has obtained a 200-plus page transcript, covering a meeting in which a San Diego deputy district attorney broke the back of the case. According Yahoo Sports’ summary, “Araiza couldn’t have led the girl into the alleged gang rape because he had ‘left’ the home at about 12:30 a.m., an hour prior to when evidence suggested the alleged gang rape would have occurred.” Deputy district attorney Trisha Amador stated that “He wasn’t even at the party anymore. All I know is that at that point, suspect Araiza is gone from the party.” Prosecutors additionally told the plaintiff that the recordings that were made of the situation “made it impossible” to identify Araiza or any other potential suspects since their faces and voices aren’t clear enough to make a prosecution. Further, there are questions as to whether a rape occurred at all as the plaintiff claimed, and not a consensual sexual situation. “In looking at the videos on the sex tape, I absolutely cannot prove any forceable sexual assault based upon what happened,” said Deputy DA Amador. Because of this lawsuit, then-rookie Araiza was cut from the Bills team, crippling his rookie season so he could “take care of this situation,” according to Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane. But Araiza isn’t out of the woods yet, despite the prosecutors themselves admitting he wasn’t present at the event – civil suits have a much lower standard of proof than criminal cases do. As news broke of the developments in the civil suit, online figures in sports and media began to defend Arazia, including Daily Wire columnist Matt Walsh and Outkick.com founder Clay Travis. “False rape accusers should receive the same penalty that we give to rapists,” Walsh posted to Twitter. “Instead, in a vast majority of cases, they receive no penalty at all and are free to move on like nothing happened.” “The Bills released punter Matt Araiza for an allegation of sexual assault that police proved was 100% a lie,” tweeted Travis. “Why shouldn’t his accuser face criminal charges for lying? He’s lost a year of his career & his good name. She has zero consequences. Not right.” Thanks to all the legal trouble, Araiza is still a free agent. We’ve seen plenty of comebacks from legal trouble in the National Felon League. Araiza could be the next to move on to a respectable career.

Title 42 is over and President Joe Biden says expect more chaos at the US southern border. Title 42 allowed the border patrol to people they caught trying to sneak across the border right back into Mexico. Now they'll likely be released and allowed to stay in the US. There are already around 6 million illegal residents in the US. The crisis isn't limited to unrestricted illegal immigration. It's also a humanitarian crisis with brutal drug cartels controlling the flow migrants south of the border. Rape, murder, and robbery are common. Additionally, the nationwide fentanyl crisis is directly tied to the border situation. The House of Representatives passed the Secure the Border Act on Thursday, May 11th. Democrats have already indicated it will never get past the Senate or the President. Rep. Tom Tiffany joins this edition of the MacIver Newsmakers Podcast to detail the implications of the border crisis and what must be done to stop it.

On this episode of America Uncanceled, Texas Representative Roger Williams talks border security with Mercedes Schlapp. The border is bombarded with illegal immigrants, Russians and Chinese, and drug and human trafficking cartels. Williams knows this firsthand as a Texan. For the sake of the people of Texas, and all Americans, he asks with the Biden administration to reconsider their open border policies and the expiration of Title 42 on Thursday. “It was a Trump policy that worked, dealt with asylum, dealt with health issues and so forth. So, it's pretty much a disaster. I'd like to see President Biden sleep on it a little bit and retract what he's going to do,” Williams said. The border needs attention as the humanitarian crisis there grows, and grows so that the dangers are no longer confined to the migrants or the physical border but are affecting the entire United States with the fentanyl epidemic and human trafficking coming across the border into every single state. William laments the Biden administration's inaction on these issues and its promise to veto House legislation, Secure the Border Act, that would end the catch and release program and bring more troops to the border. Williams also expresses his frustration with the Biden administration's other policies on green energy initiatives, which are eliminating competition and forcing ineffective products on the market. He looks to the 2024 presidential election with hope that Americans will see the stark contrast between the prosperity of the Trump administration and the incompetency of the Biden administration. This is Garrison Hardie with your CrossPolitic Daily News Brief for Tuesday, May 9th, 2023. Samaritan Ministries: Don’t be limited by restrictive networks. There’s another way. A Biblical way. Samaritan Ministries. Say you have a medical need. You don’t have to check and see what hospital is in your network, or be concerned about the doctor being in-network, too. No. You go to the hospital you choose, and don’t give a second thought as to what’s in-network and what’s not, because with Samaritan Ministries, you’re in control of your health care. Afterwards, fellow members pray for you, and send money directly to you to help you pay your medical bills. And when they have a medical need, you’ll do the same for them. That’s what Biblical health care sharing looks like. Check it out today at samaritan ministries dot org slash cross politic First, we start with the news of a coronation for our friends across the pond. https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/06/europe/coronation-king-charles-ckc-gbr-intl/index.html King Charles III is crowned in once-in-a-generation ceremony Britain’s King Charles III has been crowned in a once-in-a-generation royal event witnessed by hundreds of high-profile guests inside Westminster Abbey, as well as tens of thousands of well-wishers who gathered in central London despite the rain. While Charles became King on the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II last September, the coronation on Saturday was the formal crowning of the monarch. The service was a profoundly religious affair, reflecting the fact that aside from being head of state of the United Kingdom and 14 other countries, Charles is also the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. In the most significant moment of the day, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby placed the 360-year-old St. Edward’s Crown on Charles’ head. The spiritual leader of the Anglican Church then declared: “God Save the King.” The intricate service lasted just over two hours – about an hour shorter than Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953 – and followed a traditional template that has stayed much the same for more than 1,000 years. However, it has been modernized in certain key ways. The archbishop acknowledged the multiple faiths observed in the UK during the ceremony, saying the Church of England “will seek to foster an environment in which people of all faiths may live freely.” The King took the Coronation Oath and became the first monarch to pray aloud at his coronation. In his prayer he asked to “be a blessing” to people “of every faith and conviction.” In what is considered the most sacred part of the ceremony, the King was anointed with holy oil by the Archbishop of Canterbury. He was also presented with the coronation regalia, including the royal Robe and Stole, in what is known as the investiture part of the service. Then, for the first time in coronation history, the archbishop invited the British public, as well as those from “other Realms,” to recite a pledge of allegiance to the newly crowned monarch and his “heirs and successors.” Ahead of the event, some parts of the British media and public interpreted the invitation as a command, reporting that people had been “asked” and “called” to swear allegiance to the King. In the face of such criticism, the Church of England revised the text of the liturgy so that members of the public would be given a choice between saying simply “God save King Charles” or reciting the full pledge of allegiance. The ceremony also included a reading from the Bible by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and, in another coronation first, gospel music. Once the King was crowned, his wife, Queen Camilla, was crowned in her own, shorter ceremony with Queen Mary’s Crown – marking the first time in recent history that a new crown wasn’t made specifically for this occasion. After the ceremony, the newly crowned King and Queen rode back to Buckingham Palace in a much larger parade, featuring 4,000 members of the armed forces, 250 horses and 19 military bands. The pomp and pageantry concluded with a royal salute and the customary balcony appearance by the King and family members. They and the crowds below watched a flypast of military aircraft, slimmed down because of the poor weather. Despite the splendor of the occasion, it has not been without controversy. Some have objected to millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money being spent on a lavish ceremony at a time when millions of Britons are suffering a severe cost-of-living crisis. Security is by far the most costly element of large events and the Met said ahead of time that Saturday would be the largest one-day policing operation in decades, with more than 11,500 officers on duty in London. The coronation has also attracted anti-monarchy demonstrations, with a small number of protesters arrested in central London on Saturday morning before the event began. Republic, a campaign group that calls for the abolition of the monarchy, said the idea of the “homage of the people” was “offensive, tone deaf and a gesture that holds the people in contempt.” Some eyebrows were also raised earlier this week when a controversial and widely criticized UK public order bill came into force. Since the death of Queen Elizabeth II last year, there have been a number of instances of anti-monarchists turning up at royal engagements to voice their grievances against the institution. The new rules, signed into law by the King on Tuesday, just days before the coronation, empower the police to take stronger action against peaceful protesters. https://thepostmillennial.com/biden-to-veto-house-remain-in-mexico-bill?utm_campaign=64487 Biden to veto House 'remain in Mexico' bill On Monday, the White House announced that Joe Biden would veto an immigration bill coming out of the House of Representatives that would reinstitute several Trump-era policies including construction of the border wall and the remain in Mexico policy, which stated that anyone seeking asylum had to wait in Mexico as their claim was processed. According to the Associated Press, the White House Office of Management and Budget said in a statement, "While we welcome Congress' engagement on meaningful steps to address immigration and the challenges at the border, this bill would make things worse, not better. Because this bill does very little to actually increase border security while doing a great deal to trample on the nation’s core values and international obligations, it should be rejected." On Thursday, the House is set to vote on the 213-page Secure the Border Act. Thursday also marks the expiration of Title 42, the Trump-era policy instituted under Covid that granted Border Patrol and Department of Homeland Security officials the ability to expel illegal immigrants over health concerns. The Secure the Border Act would also require employers to verify a worker's immigration status for employment and institute the E-Verify system House Majority Leader Steve Scalise said, "Joe Biden sent a message that America’s border is open, and millions of people answered that call and started coming across our border illegally. We’re going to show the president how to solve the problem." The Daily Mail reports, the Secure the Border Act would limit federal funds for NGOs (non-governmental organizations) that aid illegal immigrants crossing the border, would end Biden's expedited entry policy for Nicaraguans, Venezuelans, Haitians, and Cubans, and grant more money for hiring additional border agents. Joe Biden loosened restrictions along the southern border after he took office and HHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas made the announcement that migrants seeking asylum would be permitted entry into the US as would unaccompanied minors. US Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz said that over the weekend 26,382 apprehensions were made by border patrol and that 11 pounds of fentanyl and 83 pounds of meth were seized. Mexican cartels have exploited Biden's border crisis, with 2,378,944 illegal immigrant encounters reported in the 2022 fiscal year and 1,659,206 reported in FY 2021, by trafficking humans and drugs, especially fentanyl across the border in record numbers. https://www.dailywire.com/news/airlines-may-soon-be-on-the-hook-for-delayed-and-canceled-flights-transportation-dept-says Airlines May Soon Be On The Hook For Delayed And Canceled Flights, Transportation Dept Says Transportation Secretary Pete Boo-tuh-jeg announced on Monday that the agency introduced rules requiring airlines to reimburse customers who incur expenses due to certain delayed and canceled flights, a move which comes as the industry faces elevated demand and a constrained labor force. The proposed rules, which would apply when an airline delays a flight for more than three hours or cancels a flight for a “controllable” reason, would mandate that the firms offer compensation for stranded passengers, as well as a meal or meal voucher, overnight accommodations, and ground transportation between the airport and hotel. “When an airline causes a flight cancellation or delay, passengers should not foot the bill,” Buttigieg said in a statement, noting that the proposed reimbursement rules would be the first in American history. The move comes after Southwest Airlines experienced holiday travel disruptions last year due to extreme winter weather conditions, staff shortages, and an outdated computer system. The carrier canceled thousands of flights days after other carriers had resumed normal operations. Buttigieg told the company, which has since promised to compensate passengers for all expenses incurred during that time, that the disruptions were “unacceptable” and promised that his agency would exercise “the fullest extent of its investigative and enforcement powers” to ensure customers are reimbursed. The new proposals also occur as the sector faces a severely limited pool of available pilots and frontline staff. Carriers previously encouraged commercial pilots to retire as worldwide lockdowns caused demand for air travel to plummet in the spring of 2020, worsening a previous trend toward a lack of available pilots. Elevated prices for airline tickets and a rapid return in travel demand, however, are now prompting lawmakers to consider the problem. Regional Airline Association CEO Faye Malarkey Black told members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee last month that more than 50% of current pilots would be forced to retire within the next 15 years because of federal rules mandating that pilots exit their positions once they reach 65 years of age, even as only 8% of pilots are below 30 years of age due to the high cost of flight education. Buttigieg has opposed legislation that would increase the retirement threshold to 67 years of age, contending that “the answer is to make sure we have as many and as good pilots ready to take their place, to have a stronger pipeline.” https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/fecal-transplant-pill-fda-approval-rcna81779 FDA approves first pill for fecal transplants, made from healthy bacteria in human waste U.S. health officials on Wednesday approved the first pill made from healthy bacteria found in human waste to fight dangerous gut infections — an easier way of performing so-called fecal transplants. The new capsules are approved for patients who have already received antibiotic treatment. More than 10 years ago, some doctors began reporting success with fecal transplants — using stool from a healthy donor — to restore the gut’s healthy balance and prevent reinfections. The FDA approved the first pharmaceutical-grade version of the treatment last year from a rival drugmaker, Ferring Pharmaceuticals. But that company’s product — like most of the original procedures — must be delivered via the rectum. Cambridge, Mass.-based Seres will market its drug as a less invasive option. The treatment will be sold under the brand name Vowst and comes as a regimen of four daily capsules taken for three consecutive days. Both of the recent FDA approvals are the product of years of pharmaceutical industry research into the microbiome, the community of bacteria, viruses and fungi that live in the gut. Currently most fecal transplants are provided by a network of stool banks that have popped up at medical institutions and hospitals across the country. While the availability of new FDA-approved options is expected to decrease demand for donations from stool banks, some plan to stay open. The FDA warned in its approval announcement that the drug “may carry a risk of transmitting infectious agents. It is also possible for Vowst to contain food allergens,” the agency noted. The FDA approved the treatment based on a 180-patient study in which nearly 88% of patients taking the capsules did not experience reinfection after 8 weeks, compared with 60% of those who received dummy pills.

The crisis at the border may have fallen out of the major news cycle, but there is still a crisis at our Southern Border. In order to gain more perspective on this issue, Jeremy Stalnecker is joined by Congressman Randy Weber. Congressman Weber introduced H.R.2180—the "Redirecting Resources to the Border Act,” which would relocate the extraneous fencing around the U.S. Capitol, installed by Speaker Pelosi, to the southern border, and direct the Secretary of Defense to reassign members of the National Guard, deployed to the U.S. Capitol, to the southern border to address the recent surge in illegal immigration. Congressman Randy Weber is a public servant, proven conservative, former small business owner, and third generation Texan, representing the 14th District of Texas.
