Andy Hooper, the President of &Pizza, talks about all the unique ways this iconic and beloved DC-based pizza brand builds loyalty & trust with their tribes, communities, and customers. Andy also talks about how they're accelerating their growth plans during the pandemic and doubling-down on digital. As one of the first all-in restaurants to stand up text messaging, their "do the right thing" people-first philosophy is paying dividends, as evidenced by 600% increase in digital sales for some of their suburban pizza shops during the pandemic. From promotions like Hero Pies to chanting for Bryce Harper to strike out - this is one brand going way above and beyond and “doing well by doing good.” Key Status & Quotes: All-In on Texting: "During COVID our run rate for the number of text conversations has quintupled; and the number of new registered users coming into the top of the funnel has tripled versus the run rate pre-COVID."Small But Mighty: “We have about three and a half times the number of registered users per pizza shop than Chipotle … that are interacting with the brand in that digital sphere and we've seen that contribute to sales … suburban pizza shops like the one in Bethesda for example are seeing digital sales 600% higher than last year as a result of that.”Hero Pies: With the help of our community partners and sponsors, today we've provided over 75,000 Hero Pies for hospital workers,, and we’re closing in on $800,000 in donated value from the company out to the community. With Citibank’s contribution we did close to 20,000 pies … and with Jose Andres and World Central Kitchen we sent 4,000 pies in a day to a hospital in Harlem. Genius Bryce Harper promotion: Last fall when Bryce Harper returned to Washington DC for the final series ... We decided to create a flash sale where every time Bryce Harper struck out, you could text #You’reOut to our text line and we’d automatically kick-back a code for a $3 pizza. We got 3,000 text messages in 60 seconds and all of Nats' park was chanting, “we want pizza.” And then you imagine 17,000 fans all texting our text line at the same time.Andy began his career with Burger King in the HR Department, then worked with Cafe Rio, before joining &pizza. In this particularly emotive and rant-y episode we discuss the latest controversy around the 'Skinny Jab' - the most recent entry into the Weight Loss market. Promoting weight loss through an injection, costing on average around £350 per month, is this the best way to lose fat? What are our thoughts on the product itself, how it's marketed, and whether it can be effective? A very topical one where we (particularly Amy), struggle to leave emotions aside. With the steps we've taken in recent years with regards to shoddy marketing and ethical weight loss, why are we companies like this still able to prey on vulnerable consumers? Andy W. Shepherd-  Andy W. Shepherd wasn’t always confident. He was shy as a boy. His passion for being on stage and in front of a camera led him to learn how to be supremely confident. This confidence allowed him to present across America, be on QVC 3 times with Tony Robbins, have his own American Talk Radio show and a weekly Portuguese speaking guest spot on Brazilian radio. Highly influenced by his entrepreneur and trend setting restaurateur mother he ran an extremely successful English Language school in Brazil. Preferring that model to the alternative he endured as a computer hardware and software engineer. Andy now fuses a wealth of knowledge from across the globe into Business Motivation Coaching. Join host Hanna Hasl-Kelchner as she welcomes business fraud prevention expert, Andy Greenberg.  WHAT YOU'LL DISCOVER ABOUT BUSINESS FRAUD: How often business fraud occurs in small to mid-size companies.  6 reasons why even trusted employees will commit business fraud. GUEST: Andy Greenberg is the founder of http://dfnd.net (DFND Analytics LLC). He is a successful serial entrepreneur who has founded, or run, 4 different companies and has 3 successful exits (resulting from the sale of his prior businesses to a strategic partner). His current venture, DFND Analytics, is an exciting software as a service (SAAS) company that provides and implements forensic accounting tools typically reserved for Big Business, making them available to any size business on a subscription basis. Their software runs forensic accounting algorithms on your data to smoke out fraud and errors and omissions before it's too late. They work with you on the analytics side of your data to identify red flags worthy of further investigation. They also help clients on the process side, helping you set up more bulletproof systems and processes to deter fraud in the first place. Their goal is to help you establish best practices in your business. Nobody plans on having their business defrauded any more than they plan on getting into a car accident. But knowing that it can happen and how it can happen helps you protect against devastating losses of it actually happening.  RELATED RESOURCES:http://dfnd.net (Contact Andy) and connect with him on https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrew-greenberg-475910a7 (LinkedIn), and http://twitter.com/DFNDAnalytics (Twitter).
