D23 2026 wasn't just about the future of the Disney Parks. Disney also unveiled a massive slate of movies, animation, television, and more—and there was so much to discuss that we're splitting our Entertainment Showcase coverage into two episodes! In Part 1, we dig into Disney's upcoming movie and animation slate, including The Simpsons Movie, Lilo & Stitch 2, The Bluey Movie, Ice Age: Boiling Point, the live-action Tangled, Oswald, Incredibles 3, Coco 2, Gatto, Ghost Market, Romy & Michele 2, Frozen 3, Zootopia 3, Hexed, and Clay. Which announcements actually got us excited? Which sequels feel justified? Which originals caught our attention? And how deep into its enormous library of characters and franchises is Disney willing to go? Along the way, we start noticing an interesting pattern: for all the talk about Disney relying on sequels and familiar IP, both Pixar and Walt Disney Animation are still putting original movies on the slate. That raises a much bigger question we'll be coming back to soon. And we're not finished with D23 yet! Part 2 continues with Marvel, Star Wars, streaming, games, and the rest of Disney's Entertainment Showcase. What are your thoughts? We're putting our Disney planning opinions, habits, strategies, and questionable decisions to the test with a brand-new round of Truth or Dare! We're taking turns choosing between Truth or Dare and randomly pulling from a collection of questions and challenges covering Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and general vacation planning. But which ones did we actually pull? You'll have to listen to find out. The possible Truths could have us confessing our biggest Disney planning mistakes, admitting which advice we don't always follow ourselves, revealing what guests spend way too much time worrying about, deciding which experiences aren't worth rearranging an entire day for, or exposing the planning decisions where we are most likely to disagree. And then there are the possible Dares. We could be forced to choose between giving up park hopping or Lightning Lane, pick one Walt Disney World resort to stay at for our next five trips, visit only two parks on our next vacation, choose between three nights at a Deluxe resort or seven nights at a Value, or plan a trip with some of our favorite options completely taken away. Disney Cruise Line could bring tough decisions involving staterooms, itineraries, excursions, dining, and onboard experiences. Disneyland could force us to rethink how we plan a completely different kind of Disney vacation. And the general vacation questions might reveal just how much control we're actually willing to surrender when somebody else is involved in the planning. Those are just some of the Truths and Dares waiting in the pile. Which ones did we draw? Which choices caused the biggest arguments? And what did we reveal that we probably would have preferred to keep to ourselves? There's only one way to find out. It's Disney Planning Truth or Dare!

It was one of the biggest weeks in the amusement industry in years, and Mike and EB have a ton to cover. First up: D23 - Disney's biannual fan convention, which featured Neil Patrick Harris hosting a full award-show-style presentation packed with 33 announcements about the future of Disney Parks and Experiences. The guys break down the highlights, including a Carousel of Progress refurbishment featuring new voices from Bryan Cranston and Jamie Lee Curtis, a Coco-themed attraction (the IP's first ever), a Magic Kingdom Villains Land finally getting its official name, and Dream Finder and Figment returning to Journey Into Imagination at Epcot. But the biggest surprise of the night: Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom will see the return of The Yeti. (HE'S HUGE! HE'S HUGE!) Then it's Quick Hits, where Mike and EB dig into the opening of NightFlight Expedition at Dollywood and the genuinely mixed early reactions — much of it, they argue, coming from riders misunderstanding the ride's intentionally storybook visual style. Plus a live call-in from the base of Top Thrill 2 at Cedar Point, giving listeners a real taste of the launch in action. The back half is a can't-miss exclusive: Silver Dollar City's Director of Content and PR, Joey Thorsen, joins the show fresh off the announcement of Miner's Mountain Express, walking through a full POV narration of the ride, introducing its brand-new skunk and bat mascots, discussing the final year of the beloved Thunderation before it closes in January, breaking down how the new Daredevil Pass connects two previously separated areas of the park, and telling the wild true story of how the ride's real 15-story mining head frame ties back to America's 250th anniversary.

878 · D23 Disney Parks Announcements: Sightlines Into Yesterday, Tomorrow, and FantasyThe loudest cheers at D23 weren't necessarily for what Disney was building next. They were for what Disney was willing to bring back, repair, and finally acknowledge. In a presentation built on a little faith, trust, and pixie dust, Disney asked fans to believe in an ambitious future, but this time it also showed its work. Models, progress, priorities, restorations, and even the things Disney chose to address directly revealed a much bigger story than any single attraction announcement. In WDW Radio # 878, we look at the D23 2026 Disney Parks announcements through a series of "sightlines" that connect Villains Land, Piston Peak National Park, Dreamfinder, the Expedition Everest Yeti, Spaceship Earth, Tomorrowland, Monstropolis, Tropical Americas, Disney Cruise Line, and much more. And the sightlines stretch well beyond the U.S., from Disneyland Paris and the return of its Jules Verne-inspired Space Mountain to new Tomorrowland, Avengers, and Spider-Man experiences coming to Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. When you step back, it starts to look like a very Disney story of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy. Yesterday is being honored through attractions, characters, and experiences fans refused to let go of. Tomorrow is taking shape through ambitious new lands, technologies, attractions, and global expansion. And fantasy is where Disney is creating entirely new places and stories for us to step inside. We also explore what changed the perspective on some of these projects, why "no height requirement" may be one of the most important phrases of the night, why the sequence of these projects may matter as much as the projects themselves, and what Disney did not announce... and why. This isn't simply a recap of D23 2026. It's a closer look at what Disney is building, what it is preserving, what it is asking us to trust, and what all of it may mean for the way we experience the Disney Parks around the world in the years ahead.

Send us Fan MailD23 2026 is in the books, and this week on The Mickeyphile Podcast, we're looking at the good, the bad, and the occasionally very awkward from Disney's biggest fan weekend. We watched D23 from Walt Disney World and came away with plenty to talk about. Disney brought portions of the event to Disney+ this year, but with dozens of panels happening throughout the weekend, why did fans at home get to see so few of them? We talk about the streaming experience, what Disney got right, and why an event billed as the ultimate Disney fan event still felt surprisingly difficult to follow from home. Then we get into the panels themselves. The 35th Anniversary of Beauty and the Beast was easily one of the highlights. Alan Menken, Susan Egan, Paige O'Hara and members of the film's creative team looked back at the making of an animated classic, the Broadway production, Howard Ashman's incredible influence, and some fascinating behind-the-scenes footage from the original recording sessions. This is Disney celebrating its history at its best.We also watched the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 panel. We're fans of the series—or at least we were before we forgot to watch Season 2—so did the new season presentation convince us that it's time to catch up? We talk about what worked, some strange panel questions, a few production miscues, and why Percy Jackson might be exactly the kind of newer franchise D23 needs to embrace. And then there's the big one: Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase.Neil Patrick Harris hosted an evening filled with Parks announcements, musical performances, celebrity appearances…and a few moments that didn't exactly appear to go according to plan.We break down the Walt Disney World news, including:Figment and Dreamfinder returning to Journey Into ImaginationDisney finally promising to fix the Yeti at Expedition EverestNew details for Villains LandMore information about the Cars expansion at Magic KingdomMonstropolis coming to Disney's Hollywood StudiosTropical Americas and the new Indiana Jones attractionUpdates coming to Spaceship EarthCarousel of Progress and its new voicesNew Disney Cruise Line shipsThe return of The Imagineering StoryAnd a whole lot of projects we've heard about before…without nearly enough datesThere was plenty to be excited about. But after years of hearing about some of these projects, did Disney actually give fans enough new information?Plus, Sheryl Crow, Beck, Gloria Gaynor, Disney on Broadway, Neil Patrick Harris channeling the Carousel of Progress, some questionable wardrobe choices, and a presentation that occasionally left us wondering whether anyone had rehearsed. So after three days of D23, are we actually more excited about the future of Disney than we were before it started?Join Scott and Karen for Episode 262 of The Mickeyphile Podcast as we talk about what D23 2026 got right, what it got wrong, and what we're still waiting for Disney to tell us.Follow The Mickeyphile PodcastInstagram & TikTok: @mickeyphile_podcastFacebook: Search The Mickeyphile Podcast for our Page and GroupYouTube: @mickeyphilepodcastEmail: mickeyphilepodcast@gmail.comTheme song: “Cân Ddelwedd”Written and performed by Scott Daves© 2026 Scott DavesAnd remember…Stay in the dang boats!

We're creating our own inaugural Walt Disney World Legends class and inducting the attractions, experiences, places, and people that have truly earned legendary status at Walt Disney World. Before recording, we each secretly selected one nominee across 10 different categories without knowing what the other person picked. Now it's time to reveal our choices, make our cases, and ultimately agree on just ONE official Legend in each category. If we happen to nominate the same thing, the decision is easy—they're automatically in! But when our picks don't match, we have to debate until one nominee earns the induction. We start with Attraction Legend before turning our attention to something Disney fans spend plenty of time experiencing: the queues. From there, we tackle Resort Legend, Dining Legend, and Snack Legend before moving into the entertainment and transportation that have become such an important part of the Walt Disney World experience. We also dig into the sounds and music that can instantly transport you back to the parks as we choose our Audio Legend, debate which Disney character has earned legendary status specifically at Walt Disney World, and finish by honoring the Cast Member roles that have become just as iconic as some of the attractions themselves. These aren't necessarily our favorites or even what we think is the “best” today. We're considering longevity, impact, nostalgia, innovation, historical significance, guest connection, and what has become truly synonymous with Walt Disney World. Ten categories. Two nominees. One inductee in each. Who makes our inaugural Walt Disney World Legends class—and which of our picks will cause the biggest disagreement?

Eric and Lauren are back from Anaheim with a firsthand look at the highs, lows, long lines, virtual queues, and very passionate Disney fans of D23. They break down what worked at the convention, what frustrated attendees, and whether the experience is worth the trip. Then they turn to Disney's Parks presentation, where exciting updates involving Figment, Dreamfinder, the Expedition Everest Yeti, and more sometimes got lost inside an unusual celebrity-heavy production. From Alan Menken and Bedknobs and Broomsticks to merchandise resellers and one unforgettable Reddit discussion about convention hygiene, this is D23 from his, hers, and your perspective. HIGHLIGHTS • D23 brought together theme park fans, collectors, cosplayers, gamers, movie fans, and nearly every corner of Disney fandom. • Eric and Lauren compare the convention's virtual queues, reservation system, merchandise lines, and the planning required to get the most out of the weekend. • Resellers and professional line-waiters sparked frustration as high-demand D23 merchandise became increasingly difficult for some guests to access. • Attendees suggested fixes ranging from tighter purchase limits to badge-linked reservations and better communication. • Transportation to the Honda Center became another pain point, including reports of lengthy delays when a shuttle bus broke down. • Eric and Lauren review the D23 Parks presentation and question whether its talk-show-style production delivered enough substance for hardcore Disney fans. • Neil Patrick Harris, Sheryl Crow, Beck, Gloria Gaynor, Los Lobos, and other performers gave the presentation plenty of spectacle, though the pacing sometimes overshadowed the announcements. • The return of Dreamfinder and Figment generated excitement, but the lack of specifics left fans wondering exactly what Disney has planned. • Expedition Everest's long-broken Yeti is finally getting attention, giving longtime Disney Parks fans one particularly memorable announcement. D23 2026 delivered a mountain of Disney Parks news—but how much of it is actually coming, and how much is still blue sky? On this episode of Magic Our Way, we break down the biggest reveals from the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase, including the return of Figment and Dreamfinder, changes coming to Spaceship Earth, the future of Disneyland's Tomorrowland, Villains Land, Tropical Americas, Piston Peak, Monstropolis, the Expedition Everest Yeti, and more. But rather than simply running through a list of announcements, we're asking a bigger question: When should a Disney announcement become a promise? To find out, we pull the receipts from D23 2022 and 2024. What did Disney announce? What actually got built? What changed along the way? And what can projects like Avengers: Infinity Defense and the long development of King Thanos teach us about Disney's five-, ten-, and even fifteen-year planning horizon? Was Horizons 2026 filled with blue-sky ideas, or did Disney give us a glimpse at projects sitting at very different stages of development? We discuss, debate, and decide which D23 2026 announcements we'd actually bet on becoming reality. What are your thoughts? Email us at show@magicourway.com, call or text  815-MOWICAN (669-4226), or slide into our social media DMs. Every thought and opinion will forever be welcome on this Disney fan podcast. Lauren and Eric audit Disney's major D23 parks announcements from 2019 through 2024 to see which projects opened, changed, stalled, or quietly disappeared. Using their new “D23 Promise Meter,” they examine the difference between blue-sky concept art and projects concrete enough to influence a future Disney vacation. They also look ahead to the 2026 showcase, weighing likely updates for Villains Land, Piston Peak, Tropical Americas, DisneylandForward, Figment, Tomorrowland, and other rumored projects. The big question is whether Disney needs another wave of announcements or simply needs to prove that its existing plans are moving forward. HIGHLIGHTS • Lauren's audit tracks dozens of Disney Parks announcements from the 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024 D23 events. • The D23 Promise Meter separates blue-sky ideas from named projects, active construction, and confirmed opening dates. • Piston Peak, Villains Land, Tropical Americas, Monsters, Inc., and Disneyland expansion plans still need important details. • Eric and Lauren evaluate community predictions involving Figment, Tomorrowland, Spaceship Earth, Animal Kingdom, and a possible resort near the parks. • The hosts debate whether the 2026 showcase should reveal new attractions or focus on delivering what Disney has already promised. Gravestone Chic Today on Bit Public Radio, host Lana Schur explores the ever-changing nature of cool. Is "cool" determined by fashion? By celebrities? By invisible gravestones? By barbarian Goths invading Rome? Nobody seems entirely sure. Correspondent Jimbo Brandywine travels to a Renaissance Faire to investigate the unexpected return of the Goths, only to uncover turkey economics, a family raised by actual turkeys, and one very confused human identity crisis. Next, Flannery Wilson reports from Beverly Hills, where luxury shoppers have embraced the newest status symbol: gravestones that don't actually exist. The investigation somehow leads to ghost tourism, HOA disputes, Walt Disney, and a long-overdue confrontation with Mary Poppins. Finally, former failed "CNN" investigative journalist Paisley Bowie uncovers an underground community living inside pottery kilns, where magical ashtray-producing fairies, eternal curses, and suspiciously enthusiastic smokers reveal the surprising intersection of ceramics and public broadcasting. Not every Disney castle looks like Cinderella's — and two of the most underrated Disney parks in the world are sitting in Hong Kong and Shanghai, with rides, lands, and a castle you won't find anywhere else. If your Disney bucket list stops at Orlando and Anaheim, this episode is about to expand it.Hong Kong Disneyland This smaller, single-park destination is home to Mystic Manor — a trackless dark ride tied to deep Disney lore that even longtime fans may not know. Add in World of Frozen, two Marvel attractions, and Duffy and Friends, alongside classics like Space Mountain and It's a Small World, and you've got a park worth two full days. Just plan ahead: most visitors need a visa, and language on rides is a mix of Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.Shanghai Disneyland Home to the tallest and largest Disney castle in the world — with attractions built right inside it. This newer park (opened 2016) brings state-of-the-art tech, the fan-favorite version of Pirates of the Caribbean, an entire Zootopia land you won't find anywhere else, and a Spider-Man-themed ninth land already in the works.Seeing Both Parks the Right Way Ryan and Julie break down a 12-day Adventures by Disney itinerary that hits both parks the smart way — bookending a trip through Hong Kong, Guilin, and Beijing (Terracotta Warriors, the Great Wall, Forbidden City included) with Disney days on either end.Where in the World? This week's spotlight is on a multi-generational family fresh off the Disney Treasure's Eastern Caribbean itinerary — their first Disney cruise and first cruise ever. Highlights included The Baths in Virgin Gorda, St. Thomas, and a stop at Castaway Cay.Next week: the right way to pair European countries for a trip across the pond. Curious how Hong Kong or Shanghai could fit into your next Disney trip? 877 · Disney Worldbuilders Interview with Leslie IwerksDisney Worldbuilders asks a question most of us have never thought to ask... where does a Disney world actually begin? Not the land. Not the ride. The moment before any of it existed, when it was still just a feeling inside one person's head. This week I sit down with Leslie Iwerks, director of The Imagineering Story and Disneyland Handcrafted, to talk about her ambitious new documentary. Disney Worldbuilders brings together Bob Iger, Josh D'Amaro, James Cameron, Kevin Feige, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Pete Docter, Jennifer Lee, and Jared Bush for a series of remarkably candid conversations about how deeply personal ideas become stories, characters, and physical worlds that millions of people can walk into.I had the privilege of screening the film before its release, and it is even better than I hoped. In our conversation, Leslie shares:Why so many of today's most influential creators were Disney fans first, and what that says about the parksHow personal struggles and childhood memories shaped stories like Frozen, Inside Out, and ZootopiaThe brutal note Jared Bush received on an early version of Zootopia, and what pulled it back from the edgeWhy Kevin Feige's favorite detail in any Disney land is a construction wallWhy story and technology have always worked together at Disney, going back to Walt and UbWhat creative failure, uncertainty, and rejection can teach the rest of usHow great leadership protects storytellers and creative riskWhy honoring Disney's history cannot mean being afraid to evolve itThe moment Leslie filmed that became the emotional heart of the filmLeslie also reflects on her grandfather, Disney Legend Ub Iwerks, and her father, Disney Legend Don Iwerks, and how their legacy of combining storytelling and technology continues through Disney's worldbuilders today. She does not just study world builders. She comes from them.Disney Worldbuilders premieres at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on August 16 and begins streaming on Disney+ on August 20.Subscribe to WDW Radio so you never miss an episode. But then there are all the things you only learn once you're actually there. This week on The Mickeyphile Podcast, Scott and Karen go behind the scenes at Walt Disney World to talk about the Cast Member experience — not to give away the magic, but to look at the culture, routines and everyday realities that aren't necessarily covered in Traditions. What is Traditions actually like? What happens after that first big “Welcome to Disney” moment? Scott compares his experiences starting with Disney Transportation and later moving into Attractions, including park orientation, training, learning backstage areas, finding break rooms, navigating Magic Kingdom costuming, getting around without ever entering guest areas, and all the little things you eventually learn simply by being a Cast Member. And yes, we get into the famous Disney two-finger point. Is that actually something Cast Members are formally taught? Before we head backstage, there's plenty of Disney news to cover:• The Diamond Horseshoe at Magic Kingdom is getting a limited-time food and drink pop-up, including some surprisingly interesting additions to the menu.• Disney Cruise Line has revealed plans for three new ships to launch during 2029, with another ship now scheduled farther into the future. We also talk about the upcoming Disney Believe and somehow end up ranking some of our favorite Disney Cruise Line stage shows.• Walt Disney World Annual Passholders are getting new Muppets-themed offerings at Disney's Hollywood Studios, including a Kermit the Frog magnet, a Disney PhotoPass Magic Shot and a specialty milkshake.• Hallmark is heading to Walt Disney World for Holiday Ever After: A Disney World Wish Come True, a new original holiday movie starring Lacey Chabert.• D23 is coming up with Disney Parks presentations, films, television, Disney Legends, Alan Menken, Marvel, Lucasfilm and more. But will we finally learn something substantial about the future of Walt Disney World — especially Villains Land?• Disney Vacation Club news includes an upcoming Kidani Village lobby refurbishment and new details about Disney Lakeshore Lodge, including its Pocahontas-inspired lobby, private lounge and new dining locations.Plus, we talk about Central Florida's relentless summer weather, what happens when lightning shuts down outdoor attractions, and how quickly a Walt Disney World attraction can go from closed to an 85-minute wait. It's Disney news, Cast Member stories and a look at the parts of working at Walt Disney World that you don't really understand until you're actually there.

Two years ago, Disney made us nearly 50 promises at D23 Expo 2024. This year, they have to keep them.So what will Disney actually reveal at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event?I'm going park by park, resort by resort, and all the way around the world with my predictions for the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase. Villains Land. Piston Peak. Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress. Space Mountain and Tomorrowland. Journey Into Imagination. Spaceship Earth. Monstropolis. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Tropical Americas. Expedition Everest. Avengers Campus. Pandora at Disney California Adventure. Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland Paris, Shanghai Disneyland, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Disneyland Abu Dhabi and more.I don't think this is another year of dozens of brand new promises. I think this is the year Disney has to show us what is real, what has changed, when we might actually experience it, and what may be quietly slipping away while nobody was looking.Do we finally find out what Villains Land is really going to be called? I have a theory, and it starts with a mountain. Could Figment and Dreamfinder finally return to EPCOT, and what if the answer isn't the one we've all been asking for? Is Tomorrowland quietly undergoing a complete transformation? Does Disney's Animal Kingdom finally get a nighttime spectacular? And what is the one surprise that nobody sees coming? Some of these are possible. Some are wild cards. And some are simply fun to dream about. That is part of what makes D23 so special.
