Testimony and Texts Suggest Former President Trump May Have Been Aware of Breaches of Georgia & Michigan Voting Machines; Probes Move Forward Today's Script: (Variations occur with audio due to editing for time) You're listening to the American Democracy Minute, keeping YOUR government by and for the people.Last June, we reported on alleged 2021 breaches of ballot tabulation machines in Georgia and Michigan counties by allies of former President Trump. New reports in the New York Times, CNN and the Detroit News suggest that probes into those breaches may be moving forward, and that President Trump may have been involved in discussions about getting access to the machines. In Georgia, CNN reports that the investigation of President Trump's alleged attempt to influence the outcome of the Georgia election revealed text messages about the ballot tabulating machines in Coffee County, GA. The messages between Doug Logan, CEO of CyberNinjas, and Jim Penrose, a data analyst working with Trump lawyer Sidney Powell, suggest that data from the machines might be used to justify overturning both the 2020 Presidential election, AND the Ossoff-Perdue U.S. Senate race. Democracy group Free Speech for People recently discovered January 6th Committee testimony suggesting that President Trump may have had an Oval Office discussion about access to the Georgia & Michiga machines' data. In Michigan, court documents show that Logan and Penrose are also subjects of a special prosecutor probe into the breach of voting machines in Antrim County and other counties. The Detroit News reported Monday that a special grand jury is considering charges in the case. We'll be following this developing story. This week marked significant changes for Senate Democrats. On Tuesday, incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock won re-election in Georgia, giving Democrats a larger Senate majority with 51 seats. Meanwhile, Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema announced she would be leaving the Democratic party and registering as an Independent. The news will not change the Senate makeup as she does not intend to caucus with Republicans. Managing Editor at Sabato's Crystal Ball, University of Virginia Center for Politics, Kyle Kondik shares why Georgia's Senate race was so significant, what the Democrats' expanded majority means for the next two years, and whether or not it will impact the likelihood of major legislative accomplishments. The Head of the Commodity Future Tradings Commission Rostin Behnam told Senators at the Senate Agriculture Committee Hearing he has no direct authority to regulate cash digital commodity markets, which is arguably the reason that cryptocurrency company FTX collapsed last month. Senators have taken it upon themselves to propose the Lummis-Gillibrand Responsible Financial Innovation Act, in hopes to fix this absence of regulation. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) details the content of her bill, states that she believes there will be major consequences for principles at FTX as well as Sam Bankman-Fried, and agrees that this collapse could have been avoided. Raphael Warnock unfortunately defeated Herschel Walker in Georgia's Senate runoff election. There were 1.9 million Georgians who voted for Herschel Walker on November 8th. Only 1.7 million Georgians voted for Herschel in the Georgia runoff election. Why did about 200,000 less Georgians vote for Herschel in this election? Also, Joe Biden dismissed visiting the border and he said there are more important things going on. Democrat Rep. Debbie Dingell embarrassed herself by defending Biden on that one. Mayra Flores is one of the many Republican warriors fighting for border security even as the Biden administration clearly does not care to solve it.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Republican challenger Herschel Walker lost to incumbent Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock in Georgia's Senate runoff election. Jenna Ellis, a former senior legal adviser to former President Donald Trump, tells NTD that leaders of the Republican National Committee are partly to blame for the loss. The Supreme Court on Dec. 7 heard oral arguments on a North Carolina case that asks the court to decide whether a state court should have applied federal election law to a disputed congressional map. In Virginia's Loudoun County, superintendent Scott Ziegler was reportedly fired by the school board after a special grand jury report about a male student who identified as gender fluid committed multiple acts of sexual assault against female students in 2021. NTD speaks to the head of a Christian organization that was denied service at a Virginia restaurant over its stance on same-sex marriage and abortion. ⭕️Watch in-depth videos based on Truth & Tradition at Epoch TV
Today is Georgia's Senate runoff election day between Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker. Republicans need to start embracing all forms of voting because the Democrats sure take advantage of everything they can. Do you believe there has been racism spewed towards Herschel Walker? Mike will give you an example of it from MSNBC's Joy Reid and another Democrat strategist. Sen. John Kennedy was stumping from Herschel Walker and he had some hilarious comments bashing our ‘woke' society. Vance (87%) all projected to win their races. But will Hershel Walker's Georgia race against incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock head to a runoff election? According to Gallup polling, 73% of Republicans believe the COVID-19 pandemic is over—while only 21% of Democrats share that belief. Jason Snead—Executive Director of the Honest Elections Project—joins the show to discuss his latest editorial on Daily Caller, “Pennsylvania is On the Verge of a Midterm Meltdown.” Snead writes of Pennsylvania elections, “antiquated procedures and weak safeguards continue to leave Pennsylvania's election process vulnerable to delays, confusion, mischief and ponderous litigation that could drag the results out for weeks — or longer.” How long should Pennsylvanians expect to wait before they have a definitive outcome for the U.S. Senate race between Dr. Mehmet Oz and Lt. Gov. John Fetterman? According to the Tax Foundation's 2023 State Business Tax Climate Index, New Jersey is the worst state in country for taxes.

Democrat Stacey Abrams faces a rematch with Georgia Governor and Republican Brian Kemp this November. Georgia Democrats have been campaigning on the party's recent legislative wins, but Kemp's consistent lead over Abrams in recent polls has many on edge. And the race for Georgia's Senate seat is getting even tighter, with incumbent Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock seeing his Republican challenger and former NFL star, Herschel Walker, close the polling gap between them in recent weeks. We talk with New York Times politics reporter Maya King, who recently reported that some Democratic strategists are wondering if the "Abrams model — seeking to expand the universe of voters to fit her politics — is truly better than trying to capture 50 percent of the voters who exist now."

Joe Biden won the U.S. presidential election, and we have students like Morehouse College's Rick Hart to thank. *** All eyes were on Georgia after they flipped blue for Biden/Harris in November and again as they voted in two Democratic senators, Jon Ossoff and the Rev. Raphael Warnock, in a historic runoff election earlier this month. But none of this was a sure thing. It took countless hours of local get-out-the-vote efforts by tireless volunteers like Rick Hart, a junior at Morehouse College in Atlanta, who this time last year was getting up at 5 a.m. with his friends to canvass around the state. We sat down with Rick back in November to learn about his experience with student voter engagement at Morehouse. Then, we caught up with him again in January to congratulate him on Georgia's Senate victories. Co-hosts Nan and Lisa take this opportunity to reflect on the role of HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) in U.S. history and think about college students as a voting bloc. Andra Gillespie is a political science professor at Emory University in Atlanta. openDemocracy's editor in chief Mary Fitzgerald spoke with Andra for the recent https://www.opendemocracy.net/en/oureconomy/podcast-who-will-win-georgias-senate-races/ (ourVoices documentary episode on the Georgia Senate runoff races). Their extended conversation dives into the political history of Georgia and why it is suddenly competitive after Biden became the first Democratic presidential candidate to win the state since 1992.
On January 5th, the stakes will be just as high as on November 3rd. Mitch McConnell, the self-proclaimed "Grim Reaper" and Senate majority leader, will almost certainly adopt an obstructionist strategy similar to in the Obama administration, making it difficult for Biden to get anything done — that is, if he retains control of the Senate. The fate of the entire US government rests in the hands of Georgian voters, who will decide whether Democratic challengers Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock flip the seats blue, or Republican incumbents David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler defend the state. The Republicans are trying to remain (somewhat) firmly beside by Trump, who is making their lives difficult; running a top-down national-style campaign; and playing the politics of tribalism and fear, by portraying their opponents as radicals. The Democrats are running a local, bottom-up campaign, and portraying their opponents as elitists who don't care about their constituents, helped by the insider trading scandal and the COVID-19 stimulus bill. In the end, the election will come down to a few key questions — to find out what those are, listen to the full episode.

In the latest episode of The War Room at American Bridge, David Brock sat down with American Bridge's Political Director, Sacha Haworth, to discuss the importance of TV ads in convincing swing voters to vote for Joe Biden; how her start in politics was a precursor for American Bridge's Swing County Project; and the state of the races in Georgia's Senate runoffs.
On 5 January, a special Senate run-off election in the ‘Deep South' state of Georgia will determine the future of Biden's presidency. Will the new president be able to pass badly needed COVID relief; take action on climate change, racial justice and much more? The voters of Georgia will decide the crucial power balance in the US Senate – and right now, the polls are neck and neck. Ahead of the vote, we've been talking to friends, family, political experts and regular people across the state. They've told us how record-breaking sums of cash are piling into Georgia; of fierce battles over voter suppression, corruption and dirty tricks – and of how millions of Black, Brown and younger voters are mobilising in this historic race. We've spoken with the trailblazing Nse Ufot of the New Georgia Project about how grassroots organisations like hers have registered millions of new voters. Investigative journalist Greg Palast has told us about how he uncovered documents showing widespread voter suppression. We've heard from Republican lawyers waging war on the state's voting system; from elusive ‘swing voters' – and from citizens just struggling to survive. As we've been discovering, the story of Georgia is both a story of what's deeply broken in American politics – and of how dramatic change is possible, fast. And follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/maryftz (@maryftz) and https://twitter.com/aaronwolfwhite (@aaronwolfwhite) to get our latest updates from the ground, as we travel across this new battleground state during the final crunch days of this race. On Etch The Edges we continue to make the case that all politics is local, and that all things are politics. The ugly sincere bottom-line truth is that even if we choose to ignore our politics, our politics will not ignore us. We are always impacted, for good or for ill. Our level of participation and understanding of the topics is the determining factor. To that end we are proud to have Daniel Blackman on this episode. He is running for Georgia District 4 Public Service Commission. Georgia has a critical runoff on January 5th not only for both of Georgia's Senate seats, but this Public Service Commission seat as well. We'll talk about the choices made in the last Thursdays' budget. Ontario's ongoing financial capacity and its deficit. And where the province goes from here. B-T-W, Peter is also an avid listener to the podcast, who just reached out one day and took me to lunch. Which tells all of you Herle Burly-ites ... I can be bought. A decent cheeseburger will probably do it.Part 2 of the pod is our ever-lovin' Political Panel, with strategists Jenni Byrne and Scott Reid. They cuss, they say smart things and tell funny stories, they fight like aggressive wallabys, and then they blow each other kisses from their ZOOM CUBES and make up. We'll pick up on the Weltman conversation. Plus, we'll talk a little about what's going on down south right now, the heightened focus on Georgia's Senate seats, transition issues, possible recounts, and we'll share some of our own stories.Watch conversations from The Herle Burly on YouTube. The Herle Burly was created by Air Quotes Media with support from our presenting sponsor TELUS, as well as CN Rail.Thank you for joining us on The Herle Burly podcast.
