pWotD Episode 2924: Secretariat (horse) Welcome to Popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 173,513 views on Sunday, 4 May 2025 our article of the day is Secretariat (horse).Secretariat (March 30, 1970 – October 4, 1989), also known as Big Red, was a champion American thoroughbred racehorse who was the ninth winner of the American Triple Crown, setting and still holding the fastest time record in all three of its constituent races. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest racehorses of all time. He became the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years and his record-breaking victory in the Belmont Stakes, which he won by 31 lengths, is often considered the greatest race ever run by a thoroughbred racehorse. During his racing career, he won five Eclipse Awards, including Horse of the Year honors at ages two and three. He was nominated to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1974. In the Blood-Horse magazine List of the Top 100 U. S. Racehorses of the 20th Century, Secretariat was second to Man o' War.At age two, Secretariat finished fourth in his 1972 debut in a maiden race, but then won seven of his remaining eight starts, including five stakes victories. His only loss during this period was in the Champagne Stakes, where he finished first but was disqualified to second for interference. He received the Eclipse Award for champion two-year-old colt, and also was the 1972 Horse of the Year, a rare honor for a horse so young. At age three, Secretariat not only won the Triple Crown, but he also set speed records in all three races. His time in the Kentucky Derby still stands as the Churchill Downs track record for 1+1⁄4 miles, and his time in the Belmont Stakes stands as the American record for 1+1⁄2 miles on the dirt. In 2012, his actual time of 1:53 in the Preakness Stakes was recognized as a stakes record after an official review.Secretariat's win in the Gotham Stakes tied the track record for 1 mile, he set a world record in the Marlboro Cup at 1+1⁄8 miles and further proved his versatility by winning two major stakes races on turf. He lost three times that year: in the Wood Memorial, Whitney, and Woodward Stakes, but the brilliance of his nine wins made him an American icon. He won his second Horse of the Year title, plus Eclipse Awards for champion three-year-old colt and champion turf horse. At the beginning of his three-year-old year, Secretariat was syndicated for a record-breaking $6.08 million (equivalent to $43.1 million in 2024), on the condition that he be retired from racing by the end of the year. Although he sired several successful racehorses, he ultimately was most influential through his daughters' offspring, becoming the leading broodmare sire in North America in 1992. His daughters produced several notable sires, including Storm Cat, A. P. Indy, Gone West, Dehere, Summer Squall, and Chief's Crown, and through them Secretariat appears in the pedigree of many modern champions. Secretariat died in 1989 as a result of laminitis at age 19.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 02:07 UTC on Monday, 5 May 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Secretariat (horse) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Russell.

Storm Cat could also be brought in through lines such as Forestry, Stormy Atlantic, Stormin Fever, Tale of the Cat, Mountain Cat, Tabasco Cat and Harlan's Holiday. There are several other branches of the Northern Dancer line that should work well under Quality Road. His sire, Elusive Quality, has been extremely strong over mares by Dixieland Band and his sons, with Dixie Union appearing as broodmare sire of a stakes placed Quality Road two-year-old. Deputy Minister line mares should also work well, particularly through Silver Deputy. Elusive Quality, and the Gone West line in general, has enjoyed considerable success with Danzig-line mares, and Quality Road has stakes winner Overprepared out of a mare by Dayjur. Other promising sources of Danzig include Danehill and Belong to Me.(UPDATED FEB 1, 2025)

Kanye West, also known as Ye, has been accused of evading legal proceedings in the United States, particularly concerning a lawsuit filed by his former assistant, Lauren Pisciotta. Pisciotta alleges that West drugged and sexually assaulted her during a studio session co-hosted with Sean "Diddy" Combs in 2021. Despite the lawsuit being filed in June 2024 and updated in October 2024, reports suggest that West has been avoiding service of legal documents, complicating the progression of the case.In addition to Pisciotta's lawsuit, there are allegations that West is deliberately staying outside the U.S. to avoid legal entanglements related to Diddy's ongoing legal issues. Some sources claim that West and his partner, Bianca Censori, have been spending extended periods abroad, possibly to distance themselves from the controversies and potential legal actions in the U.S. These developments have led to increased scrutiny of West's international movements and raised questions about his willingness to address serious allegations against him.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Insiders reveal why 'terrified' Kanye West is partying with wife Bianca Censori abroad and hasn't seen his kids in months | Daily Mail Online

Produced by Wayne Hall, Joseph Cottrell, Jeffrey Crecelius and Ken Fuller As always, it was a delight to welcome Yes guitarist Steve Howe back onto the show to talk about his new solo album, Guitarscape. It was a fun discussion during which Mark and I enjoyed asking some searching questions about the new record. Of course, we also slipped in a few questions about Yes and Tales from Topographic Oceans! Steve and Dylan Howe: Guitarscape is a little different to other Steve Howe solo albums and I'm sure you will enjoy it when it is released in September. What' did Igor bring to the Yes keyboard role's different about this Steve Howe solo album? How was it put together? Who else worked on it? Let us know if you agree with us! 16th July 2024: Guitarist Steve Howe releases his new solo album Guitarscape on 27th September on his own HoweSound label. The album will be available on CD, vinyl and digital downloads, including Dolby Atmos. Pre-order the album here: https://lnk.to/hkKdov Guitarscape marks a new chapter for the YES and ASIA legend as he presents, what amounts to, a guitar masterclass. “What I'm doing,” said Steve, “is focusing on what I do well and what I love to do.” Guitarscape features 14 new instrumental tracks in a host of musical styles, from rock through to acoustic and classical, each bearing that unmistakable Steve Howe sound. Steve plays acoustic, electric, steel and bass guitars along with keyboards and is joined by his son Dylan on drums. Steve has written all of the tracks and produced the album. “This album has given me the opportunity to do something different,” says Steve. “I bought a Novation Summit keyboard and found that it had a wealth of inspiring sounds. It gave me a golden opportunity to create my own keyboard structures – chordal movements and structures that I thought were a bit different. I think differently on a keyboard, I don't see the chords looking the same but then I had fun playing around with the guitar to see where that goes. “I've utilised most of the colours, as I like to I think of my styles, and I'm always pleased when I hear them running through and it moves from a steel, maybe, to a Spanish guitar. Because it's a different sort of album, I'm not using terribly conventional chord sequences but things that give me a fresh feeling and opportunities to improvise and stretch out as well as be melodic and make this a nice tuneful experience. “I began feeding the tracks to Dylan. We get on great and he seems to know what to play around my guitar, it's almost instinctive. Dylan and I fit together really beautifully. We've had the chance to do this together, so it's wonderful. “The bass parts and the keyboards are pretty interesting, everything had to be interesting but also work together. I like doing things that are super fresh and this album says what I am today.” Steve Howe - Guitarscape is released by HoweSound on 27th September 2024. Guitarscape - Track Listing 1. This is an exciting moment for me. I'm trying something new with the podcast. This is part 1 of a 4 part series featuring new country group The Chattahoochies. This week I'm speaking with Nelly Joy. In upcoming weeks we'll hear from the two other members of the trio. Up next is Audra Mae and then we'll have Summer Overstreet. To wrap everything up I'll sit down with all three of the Chattahoochies for what is likely to be a ridiculous conversation. An art exhibition called “Look East Gone West” brings Singaporean artist Ho Rui An’s work to Southeast Asia for the first time, with video installations and films that examine the so-called East Asian miracle, global capitalism, and the divisions between east and west. We speak with artist Rui An, and curator Kathleen Ditzig about research-based art, and how these works feel more relevant than ever at a time of stricter borders and a global lack of mobility. On this episode, the chaos following the destruction of the Nauvoo Expositor continues to escalate. Joseph Smith calls together a military parade as a show of force to any enemies in the city where he gives his final public speech as first Prophet of Mormonism. Jo’s cronies are active in collecting affidavits concerning the movements of the Illinois militias near Mormon settlements. Whether or not they’re true is hard to tell but daily extras flowing from the antagonistic Warsaw Signal give some credence to some of the allegations. Governor Thomas Ford eventually makes his way to Carthage to figure out just what was going on. We spend a bit of time discussing the conflict from Governor Ford’s History of Illinois and use that to consider the many conflicting interests involved in the coming Illinois-Mormon War. You’re gonna get a kick out of country’s hot new group Gone West. Spearheaded by Grammy winner Colbie Caillat, they’ve settled in Nashville and are bringing their songwriting talents to life with a fresh new sound. Colbie is joined by Justin Young along with Nelly Joy and her husband Jason Reeves. Together these 2 couples and close friends are having a blast with their music hitting the chart, as well as their touring, which includes sharing the stage with George Strait. In this edition of Crook & Chase Nashville Chats, you’ll get some insight to how this band came together and when they actually declared “ hey, we’re a band ”. That wasn’t all that easy to answer, but it is funny, HOWEVER, not as funny as when the band starts declaring what they admire about each other. Let’s just say it’s delightfully uncomfortable. We know you’re gonna love GONE WEST...come on and join the chat. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers
