Struggling to find my place in the world has long been a journey filled with questions, dreams, and the need for guidance. Today, we delve into the essence of this quest through heartfelt reflections and spiritual insights. Johanna Rowan sets the stage, introducing our upcoming Women's Spiritual Retreat, an event designed to deepen one's spirituality through an internal, mystical journey. With special guest Kimberly Braun, a beacon of profound spiritual insight and playful energy, we explore how divine play can transform our understanding of spiritual paths, fostering a joyful and profound awakening.Journey with us as we uncover the mystical teachings of a Jesuit priest who dared to challenge orthodox views, emphasizing the unity of the universe through spirit. Despite facing silence from his tradition, he envisioned human consciousness ascending to an omega point. We unravel his groundbreaking work, "The Phenomenon of Man," and discuss his concept of the three faces of God: the transcendent "about God," the relational "to God," and the divine "as God." This framework offers a rich tapestry for understanding the divine in our daily lives and relationships, inviting us to see the divine in everything around us.Lastly, we reflect on a powerful spiritual experience inspired by the biblical story of Peter walking on water. This moment serves as a metaphor for our intrinsic connection to the divine, reminding us that nothing can separate us from God's eternal embrace. Through the lens of divine play, we highlight the importance of recognizing this connection, irrespective of our actions or thoughts. The episode culminates with a heartfelt poem, a meditative exercise focusing on the heart chakra, and an uplifting musical rendition that celebrates resilience and perseverance. Embrace your spiritual journey with love and determination, knowing that you are eternally held in the embrace of the divine.

How can we trust that the moment we receive disappointing news, that this news is God's grace for us? This question is answered this week by Kimberly Braun, who spent 10 years as a monastic nun. What she discovered during her daily, hourly, and yearly devotion is that everything is in fact grace. She sits down this week with Matt O'Neill to discuss how to access our inner guidance, follow our calling, and discover for ourselves that even our most disappointing days are in fact being guided by God's grace. Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation: Lessons from her book, Miracles in the Naked Light What it means to be love How fear gets in the way of love How to know you're following your calling How to tap into your calling How is everything grace [02:36] Lessons from Her Book Miracles in the Naked Light offers profound insights on embracing authenticity and deepening our spiritual connection. Contrary to the romanticized image, monastic life often brings up unconscious fears and wounds for healing, rather than offering constant peace and serenity. By letting go of our defenses and embracing vulnerability, we open ourselves up to experiencing grace in every moment, making miracles a part of our ordinary lives. Prayer has transformed for Kimberly, becoming more about opening her vibration to connect with the Divine, experiencing the Beloved within herself in a wordless way. [06:52] What It Means to Be Love To be love means to express oneself without reservation, not worrying about acceptance or rejection. It means being the source of love itself and engaging in the dance of love through giving and receiving with others and the world in an open exchange of energy. Ultimately, to be love is to embody love in one's very being so that a presence and vibration of love is what one radiates wherever they go. [12:44] How to Know You're Following Your Calling Some signs that you may be following an authentic calling rather than just your ego include experiencing a wordless peace, a sense of expansion rather than tension or contraction, and natural inclinations to lean into the calling even if it's scary. As you get to know yourself more intimately through practices like meditation, you can learn to discern the subtle cues within yourself to distinguish between a calling from a higher source versus projections of the mind. [17:32] Everything is Grace Kimberly suggests reframing the perspective on difficult life experiences by saying "everything is grace for me." When viewed through this lens, even challenging situations that involve loss or suffering can be opportunities for growth, as they push us to reflect more deeply and make positive changes that may ultimately lead to greater fulfillment, wisdom and understanding. Rather than seeing experiences as purely negative, focusing on how they can cultivate important life lessons frames them in a way that finds meaning and benefit. Notable quotes: [06:52] Even though we have beliefs that we may ascribe to or we have aspirations that we hold, ultimately, it's our experience and our reflection on our experience that roots us in deep inner wisdom and freedom. [07:07] [09:14] Fear cloaks itself in a lot of different disguises. [09:19] [10:43] The spiritual path is a security in the unknown. [10:49] [17:32] Everything is grace for me – look at how that just shifts the whole energy of that belief or that truth. Ever wonder what could happen if you simply said yes to life? My guest Kimberly Braun invites us on her journey to discover the transformative power of embracing life's opportunities. Uncover her pivotal childhood experience of deep presence and how it shaped her worldview towards living from divine love. Alongside us, explore the concept that we are all here for a noble purpose, and the magic that happens when we let our love and curiosity for life break us free from our limitations. Life doesn't come with a script, and Kimberly shows us that embracing each moment as a potential lesson can lead us to a deeper understanding of our human experience. The conversation turns to moments of silence and presence, and how these moments can become transformative. Kimberly shares her personal story of building a monastery from a moment of silence, reminding us of the importance of being open to the universe's synchronicities and order. Our journey culminates in an exploration of inner stillness and surrender. Listen as Kimberly recounts her profound realization that she spoke about on her TED Talk and how surrendering to her core desires led to the creation of a permanent monastery. We discuss the challenges that arise after saying yes to a desire, and practices to stay committed, such as drawing close to inspiration and tapping into the infinite field of intelligence. This conversation promises to be an eye-opener on the power of surrender and the magic that unfolds when we stay true to our core desires. ⠀
Kimberly Braun spent ten years as a nun in a Carmelite monastic order and then moved on to pursue a multidimensional spiritual path. Now, as a public speaker, author, meditation coach, and ordained minister, she helps guide others closer to the divine presence in a number of ways through her workshops, retreats, and online gatherings. We spoke about her fascinating and compelling journey, which she described in her book, Love Calls, Insights of a Former Carmelite Nun. We also spoke about the spiritual community she facilitates online, her latest book (Miracles in the Naked Light), and her upcoming Discovering Self online summit. See The Upside - Uplifting conversations about real life after divorce
In this episode, we totally break with tradition and have shared the raw, unfiltered version with you. When I went back to edit, there was just too much amazing background conversation that I really wanted to share. Kimberly Braun had been a guest previously. As a TED X speaker, mystic, teacher, author, former nun, minister, and so much more, we had a heart expanding conversation on episode #66 that ended up talking about her experience with chanting. I've been curious about chanting for a while and really wanted to go deeper with this, so asked her to come back on the show and share some chants with us. As we prepared, we ended up talking in beautiful detail about what the chants mean, the history and origin of each chant and the best way to experience them. So not only will you get the opportunity to experience several different kind of chants, but you'll have some further insight into what feelings they may evoke and what the intentions were behind them. What a beautiful gift for Kimberly to come back and share this with us. I really leaned in to the feelings and experience and loved every minute. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Kimberly Braun author of: Love Calls, Insights of a former Carmelite Nun. Kimberly states: “From a very young age, (4-5 years old,) I found myself on the receiving end of many moments I now call unitive experiences. Time seemed to stop and veils seemed to pull back where the deeper essence of the moment came forward within me and around me. Naturally curious I liked the feelings these experiences evoked and began to connect the dots that THIS was a key to happiness. Website: http://EssenceMeditation.net

The sermon was delivered on Sunday, July 19, 2015, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Bishop Carlton D. Pearson & Rev. Kimberly Braun, Guest Ministers. SERMON DESCRIPTION When Jesus was asked what is the greatest commandment, he replied: “Love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is similar, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Christian love comes down to us from the teachings of other religions that pre-date Christianity by thousands of years. Buddha, Krishna, and other enlightened souls taught the same thing as the basis and essence of all spirituality. We don’t learn to love, we somehow forget to. Loving comes naturally; hatred is taught or appropriated. Love is the DNA of spirit and must be recalled, reclaimed and reconciled. This is what it means to be born again or anew. *Rev.
