Davey Segal welcomes on pit reporter Mike Massaro (9:10) to discuss his extensive career in motorsports broadcasting. Starting in the Northeast at Stafford Speedway, Massaro outlines why he gravitated towards the microphone rather than a steering wheel, tells some hilarious stories from the track involving legends Mike Joy and Jack Arute and how that sent him on a path to work in racing. He also details his first time meeting Dale Earnhardt while auditioning for MRN Radio, his time at Inside NASCAR on TNN, how Allen Bestwick helped him land that job along the way, landing at ESPN to help spearhead their NASCAR coverage and the unthinkable first assignment he was put on: the 2001 Daytona 500. Massaro explains why coverage at the event was a logistical nightmare, how they navigated it, the delicate nature covering an event like that race takes, lessons learned that year and how they were applied in 2014 while covering the Tony Stewart/Kevin Ward Jr. incident. After leaving ESPN due to the NASCAR television rights change, Massaro landed at NBC Sports for a short period of time. He explains why he left that job for the betterment of his own mental health, but why he wishes he didn't all these years later. He also discusses the here and now: being back on pit road for MAVTV covering the ARCA Menards Series with many familiar faces, how that opportunity came up and how good it felt to put the headset back on. Plus, what is there still left for him to accomplish in broadcasting? Davey briefly touches on Denny Hamlin's Richmond Raceway victory, provides an update on his time dealing with COVID-19 and Papa Segal pays homage to "The King Maker."

Most people know Ian Roussel from MAVTV's Full Custom Garage. He created of Space Junkie, Space Junkie 2.0, and so many custom hot rods it's difficult to keep track. Ian grew up mashing together every Monogram kit he could dig out of the local garage sale. He graduated to tricking out his grandmother's VW Bug with elbow grease and a J.C. Whitley catalog. Later, he hit the West Coast seeking glory. He found it in the form of a hot rod. After that, Ian's cars got weirder. A lot weirder. On this 400th milestone episode of the World Game-Changers Podcast, Paul is joined by Titan Gilroy to talk firstly about moments of celebration and which ones stand out for him in his life. But, they quickly get into Titan's story about his journey from homelessness as a child to successful amateur boxer to imprisonment and eventually to success in both life and business. KEY TAKEAWAYS Some victories are more special when they're about other people, when we're younger and more immature it's all about self, but as you get older it evolves to when you see other people – your family, team, company or team – benefit from something that you've been involved in, that's when those wins become more special and valuable. The fear for me going to prison wasn't what it is for most people, I'm a fighter. My fear was that I had a good head on my shoulders, and I'd just ruined my life and other people's lives. It was over. There's no hope. The fearlessness I had on the street and in prison was used in my job to make machines run more efficiently and got promoted, got a house and provided for my family and suddenly I had things to lose. Failure in life will dictate what your purpose is because those are the times you overcome adversity and become stronger, your learning process ramps up more during the failures than during the good times because you're forced to learn. BEST MOMENTS ‘You have to celebrate on a daily basis whether your triumphs are big or small.' ‘In life, we all go through valleys, trials and tribulations. You need to look at the positives and do everything you can as a human being to improve your life.' ‘I've gained things in business that other people don't because of the risks I take.' ‘If you want to make money in business you need to know how to solve problems for people.' He also produced and starred in the reality series TITANS of CNC (Monday nights on MAVTV). TITAN's story is one of extraordinary circumstances. He's lived a life of homelessness on the beaches of Maui, spent time behind bars, and fought back to build his own CNC machine shop. He shared his story of hope and perseverance with a national television audience. Then, in the third season of the show, his life took another incredible turn. TITAN went into San Quentin Prison, built an Elite CNC Academy, and flipped rehabilitation on its head. It was because of this experience that TITAN developed the FREE TITANS of CNC: Academy Curriculum which is used in diverse training applications including: Educational Institutions, Prison Rehabilitation, Workforce Development, Company Training, Trade Schools, Private User groups, Personal Learning, and many more. Presented by FLY Racing We're caught the opening rounds of the Hoosier Tires Arenacross Series a few weeks ago in Oklahoma and were introduced to Jay Reynolds, the organizer and the promoter of the 15-round race series. It's cool to see hundreds of amateur riders and a few Nationally-ranked pros on the starting line in the same night, and Reynolds has big plans to make the series even more appealing. If you're a pro-level racer or a very good amateur, then you should really have an eye on the Hoosier Arenacross series. Their purse payout and sponsorship contingency package is solid, but the broadcast plans that MAVTV and FloRacing have announced are excellent opportunities to get your name and results out to the worldBut if you're a back of the pack rider or a beginner, the Hoosier Tires Arenacross series will have something to offer you. It's tough to get a race in during the winter months and you'll have that chance at venues around the Midwest and Southeast over the next few months.

I am also a Southern California based Live Music Photographer, the former House Photographer for concerts at San Manuel Casino, and the host of the Behind the Shot Podcast. As a radio personality, emcee, and voice actor, I have been around the music and entertainment industry for many years. Combining my love of both music & photography, I capture those defining moments that happen during a live performance – on-stage or behind-the-scenes.My images have been seen in newsprint; the Duesenberg USA Guitar catalog (Joe Walsh); in TV productions, such as MAVTV’s “Les Paul Kids Rock Free Concert Series” at the Fender Center; and recognized online in features such as in Mashable’s “16 Concert Photos That Will Bring Music To Your Ears”.In 2014, I helped start the “On Stage” show for a local government TV channel, where I’m the host and interview people from the local music scene. That show was relaunched in 2017 as “In Studio“.My podcast “Behind the Shot” launched in 2016 on the TWiP Network, and in 2018 I relaunched the show on my own. On each episode of Behind the Shot (behindtheshot.tv) I try to get inside the mind of a great photographer by taking a closer look at one of their shots.I also do a presentation on Live Music Photography, having been a speaker at the PPC Expo (Professional Photographers of California), and various PPC affiliates throughout the state.
