Women lifting up other women in the construction industry is critical to our efforts to be a more inclusive industry. As part of my journey of making new construction industry friends in Kansas City I met the amazing Erica Jones, Vice President of MMC Corporation and Founder of On The Rise. This incredible program elevates women in the construction industry during a half-day workshop. Erica is a wonderful example of someone who beyond leading marketing for a $1.2 billion company also steps up as a volunteer to lead change in our industry. Erica joined the Greatness Podcast to share many examples of how to support the success of women and minorities, intentionally, in our industry; and also shares her success in building the marketing team for MMC as the organization grew from $300 million to their current size. Her advice to women - be advocates for other women, lift women up, be a mentor, pay it forward. Let's embrace that we bring different things to the table - it makes every organization better.

As broadcast November 14, 2022 with plenty of concert memories for the start of the work week. For anyone that was up in Seoul this weekend to see either Big Thief's first concert in Korea or Khruangbin's performance the same night, you all saw amazing shows. Big Thief's performance at Rolling Hall was something else, with the glitches and hiccups along the way somehow making it even better. Of course, it's Monday and that means all new music on this show aside from the upcoming shows, and we had a lot of great stuff drop last Friday with Sharon Van Etten, Chiiild, Jordana, and SAULT providing the big fireworks in hour one along with a highlight of PREP's show this Friday up in Seoul. Part 3 we were Poppin' Off as usual, and big new joints and albums from Wizkid, Rihanna, Stormzy, and The Boss added the big spotlights. For part 4 and our Fresh K Cuts, there wasn't a lot of info on many of the artists, but great new tunes to check out and a couple albums to spotlight as well.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Big Thief – Notflowerovlove – Out For The WeekendJordana – You're in the WayNana Lourdes – Thinking About YouSAULT – LionChiiild – Bon Voyage Part II (30:36)Ging – We're Here, My DearSharon Van Etten – When I DieChristian Leave – SuperstarRunner – Bike AgainHyd – Only Living For YouPREP – As It WasPREP – Who's Got You Singing Again Part III (59:57)Wizkid feat Ayra Starr – 2 SugarRauw Alejandro – LEJOS DEL CIELORihanna – Born AgainStormzy – FirebabeJulia Michaels – Sorry Me TooMahalia – Bag of YouBruce Springsteen – Turn Back The Hands of Time Part IV (90:51)TONE – news from youYeoeun – Lonely NightMoim – Woo~deulrejang ft Sun the Lily – YEPPIHAD feat Nieah – GoodbyeCOLL!N feat Khakii – VrVrZitten – Now is
As broadcast November 7, 2022 because we just can't seem to get enough. Tonight we open with a dig at weak and befuddled Glasgow Rangers, but that's not the focus...although they are PATHETIC and generally terrible. We focus on the 2020 Rock Hall Inductees of which Depeche Mode was one in a very strong class. After that, it's all our favorite new tunes for the first half of the show finishing with a spotlight on Stella Donnelly playing in Seoul on December 6 at Rolling Hall. Part 3 as per usual we are Poppin' Off with the big new tunes over the weekend, with highlights from Selena Gomez, Masego, and BGYO, the latter of whom dropped a new album Friday! To finish in part 4, it's some of our favorite new Korean indie, with the big highlight coming at the grand finale with JAMBINAI announcing a new EP out next year!#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Depeche Mode – Just Can't Get EnoughPhoenix – After MidnightConnie Constance – KamikazeYves Tumor – God Is a CircleFirst Aid Kit – Palomino Samia – Mad At Me Part II (30:03)Caroline Rose – Love Lover Friendfanclubwallet – RoadkillThe Rare Occasions – Start This OverCavetown – Heart AttackMatt Corby – ProblemsStella Donnelly – Old ManMethyl Ethel feat Stella Donnelly - Proof Part III (59:31)Selena Gomez – My Mind & MeQ – Todayhemlock springs – girlfriendGryffin x Matt Maeson – Lose Your LoveMasego – Say You Want MeBGYO – Game OnAvril Levigne feat YUNGBLUD – I'm A Mess Part IV (90:11)ABOUT feat Hemo & HWI YOUNG – BurnQueenstown – No MatterNAMHYUK – Summer vacationMeaningful Stone – TrashLEEYOUNGWOONG feat JAEHA – DON'T WORRYJAMBINAI – from the place to be erased
As broadcast November 1, 2022 with(out) our main girl but we keep on keepin' on. Tonight we open spotlighting Kurt Cobain and Nirvana finally releasing their stellar MTV Unplugged album on this date in 1994 while spotlighting some of the emotions and states we're all in right now in the horrific afterglow of Saturday's tragedy. If you're suffering from survivor's guilt or any mental health issues resulting from this event, even if you weren't there, there are resources out there (and we'd be happy to provide them if anyone reaches out). Kat Bass was once again not in the studio this week, but was ready with the playlist and tunes for our indie weekly. Highlights from COOL HEAT, SURL, The Hails, and Daisy the Great feature throughout, along with of course a slew of other worthy artists to check out.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Nirvana – All Apologies (Unplugged)Field Guide – Worst of WaysPhoebe Go – Be the Player, Not the PoetDaisy the Great – Time MachineUS Girls – Bless This MessTeenage Priest – Victory Lap Chelsea Days – It GoesPart II (36:21)Kailee Morgue - Cheerleader girlpuppy - Permanent State The Hails - Exonerate Softlander - Angel Vibropath - OverboardJude Shuma - Working So Hard Glom – Pebble Part III (68:40)Kitchen - River Song Masaki Suda & sooogood! - Ai to uno Paige ft. As broadcast October 24, 2022 with nice clear language and strong voice with nary a COVID bug to be found. After several days' hiatus with flu-induced laryngitis and a COVID scare to boot, Danno is back at it this Monday with new tunes that despite the lack of volume definitely deliver. Lots of new albums out this past Friday with Nick Hakim, Arctic Monkeys, Taylor Swift, and Dry Cleaning being the main culprits. We also highlighted LEENALCHI's show this Friday in Seoul along with new singles from Phoenix, Dora Jar, BGYO, and the great John Cale really adding to the mixture on air.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)The Kinks – LolaDry Cleaning – Hot Penny DayPhoenix – Winter SolsticeNick Hakim – Feeling MyselfCaroline Polachek – SunsetKelela – Happy Ending Part II (30:58)Adam Melchor feat Fleet Foxes – Let Me Know WhenNosaj Thing feat Toro y Moi – ConditionDora Jar – Spellgreek – bestJohn Cale feat Weyes Blood – STORY OF BLOODLEENALCHI – Please Don't GoLEENALCHI – Tiger Is Coming Part III (63:40)Arctic Monkeys – I Ain't Quite Where I Think I AmTaylor Swift – Anti-HeroMeghan Trainor – Made You LookShakira y Ozuna – MonotoniaKatherine Li – Miss Me TooEllie Goulding – Let It DieBGYO – Magnet Part IV (93:43)DAHEE – Footprints Dabin Yu – FallSwimrabbit feat June One – EGOMOA – Timing PoolPeach Luffe – Fly Fly FlySeoweol – TwilightSURYEON – FRAME ME
As broadcast October 13, 2022 with plenty of Sam still kickin! We open tonight wishing a belated birthday to Sam Moore, who was one half of the famed Sam & Dave duo. Now a total legend and Rock Hall inductee, it's great to see one of the old timers still around and doing well. After that, our funk & soul first hour has a bevvy of new joints out from big artists like Adrian Quesada, Nick Hakim, Allen Stone, and plenty more beyond just those. Big new announcements and tunes follow that for our rock weekly that we call AMPED, as Dan Lloyd talks about what's up with Blink 182, Willow Smith, Sparta, and many more while finishing with our KROCKPOT spotlight on Say Sue Me's covers album just out called 10.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Sam & Dave – Hold On, I'm Coming (King Most remix)Carmy Love – Together AgainSurprise Chef – Bakery Pledge of AllegianceNick Hakim – M1L'Imperatrice feat Rejjie Snow – Everything Eventually EndsKraak & Smaak feat Durand Jones – All for Love Part II (30:03)Kendra Morris – This Life (Live)Yellow Days – Why?Allen Stone – 5 MinutesSay She She – Fortune Teller Adrian Quesada – Noble MetalsRyuichi Sakamoto – Thousand Knives (Thundercat remix)Garrett Saracho feat Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad – Sabor del Ritmo Part III (59:09)Blink 182 – AnthemBoston Manor – PassengerWillow – curious/furiousEnumclaw – 10th and J 2Sparta – Until the Kingdom Comes Part IV (89:57)The Real McKenzies – Scotland the BraveAnti-Flag – Modern Meta Medicine (Ft Jesse Leach)MSPAINT – AcidGinger Wildheart and the Sinners – Footprints in the SandWeeping Icon – Pigs, S*** and TrashSay Sue Me – Season of the Shark (Yo La Tengo cover)
As broadcast September 26, 2022 with new tunes aplenty in tow. Tonight we mark a date that a very important live album was recorded at London's Palladium, which became Marvin Gaye's iconic album from 1977. We also noted some interesting facts about the only studio recording from the album "Got To Give It Up," which appeared right at the end of the live album. After that, it's huge new music all the way to the end with the exception of Yumi Zouma, who are in the spotlight for our upcoming concerts, as they do their first live on Wednesday up in Seoul at Rolling Hall. New cuts galore from Channel Tres, Alex G, The 1975, Sure Sure, and Broken Bells to dig into first hour, and then we had some big new pop tunes in part 3 with Khalid, Sam Smith, and 5SOS all out with new joints. To finish properly in part 4, we covered some of the notable new & recent Korean indie that dropped this month, with Han All, GAYUN, and HANRORO being highlights.#feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Marvin Gaye – Got To Give It UpMorMor – Chasing GhostsDivino Nino – EcstasyChannel Tres – No LimitNilufer Yanya – Rid of MeSleater-Kinney feat Courtney Barnett – Words and GuitarMonet Ngo – Summer WindPart II (35:21)Alex G – ImmunityThe 1975 – All I Need To HearSure Sure – Lonely OneVieux Farka-Toure & Khruangbin – DiarabiBroken Bells – Love On The RunYumi Zouma – Give It HellYumi Zouma – Where The Light Used To Lay Part III (65:48)Khalid – SatelliteFLO – Not My JobSam Smith feat Kim Petras – UnholyQ – Stereo DriverSiR – Nothing Ever MattersMaya Hawke - Luna Moth5 Seconds of Summer – Bad Omens Part IV (96:50)BAMSOOSUNG – Swimming In StarsHan All – You Know EverythingEntoy feat suru – Blue Mood*GAYUN – DOONGDOONGHANRORO – Don't Be Afraid To FallJOO SEOL OK – I wanted to be lovedAble – How long will it take to forget you?
As broadcast August 3, 2022 with plenty of letters from the 'burbs in the process. Tonight we mark 12 years to the date that Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs" dropped, marking one of those moments in popular music where the cultural reverberations were massive and worldwide. We talk some of the background to start the show, and then we get into all the (mostly) fresh and new indie for this week with Kat Bass, with new joints from Sleepy Soul, Surfaces, Mela Femmina, and CASTLEBEAT being highlights.#feelthegravityTracklist (ST:RT)Part I (00:00)Arcade Fire – Ready to StartEmmett Kai – Nature's Voice Is A CryCASTLEBEAT – All the TimeThe Death of Pop – For A MinuteScarlet Rae – Seems Like ForeverForever Honey – I've Been Down Part II (30:48)YUJU ft. As broadcast July 12, 2022 with plenty of disco to treat with tender, loving care. Tonight we mark the mania that was Disco Demolition Night at Chicago's Comiskey Park in 1979. As disco faded and the backlash became enormous amongst the rock heads, Steve Dahl made some very weird, quite ugly history when he blew up some "disco" records fans brought in. But we love disco, so we payed tribute to a trailblazer and revolutionary of the disco and Pride game in Sylvester to start. After that, Kat Bass is back with all the new indie she liked just out this week, with highlights from Lunar Isles, Minsu, Band Nah, and Zitten on the Korean indie front, and Alvvays, Layzi, and King Princess from further afield on the map. Of course, that's merely a fraction of the offering for the show's new music.#feelthegravityTracklisting:Part I (00:00)Sylvester – Dance (Disco Heat)Bliss Samsa – Father FigureLow Island – Can't Forgetbed bug guru – Brand NewWelcome Strawberry – You In Your Rare UglinessLunar Isles - Balloons Part II (33:13)Minsu ft. As broadcast July 5, 2022 with plenty of encores for your Damon Albarn swoonage. Tonight we open with Damon Albarn and Africa Express going on a mind-bending five hour trip to close the night on this date in Denmark in 2015, with Albarn so worn by the end of the five hour set that the artist's manager needed to carry the famed Blur and Gorillaz leader off the stage at 4am. After that to open, it's another trip into our weekly crop of new indie goodies with Kat Bass providing the guiding light for most of the show, with highlights from Gwenno, Men I Trust, Chinese American Bear, and Jaguar Sun being the highlights to a very strong collection of fresh cuts!#feelthegravityTracklisting:Part I (00:00)Tony Allen feat Damon Albarn – Go BackLil Silva feat Charlotte Day-Wilson – Leave ItGwenno – An Stevel NowydhSuave Punk – Dust BunnyLayzi – Shop AroundBroken Bells – We're Not In Orbit Yet… Part II (35:21)Pol - Boys Are Chinese American Bear - Love Bus Courrier Sud - Out of Love chemical club - Every Morning Is A Chance Goldmyth - Triptych Narae Lee - In the AirPart III (63:27)Men I Trust - Hard to Let Go Max Koste - Dream State We Are The Night - Mystery Happy Goose - Slow Ready Momma - Brave Park Soeun - That's The Reason Why Part IV (95:23)Jaguar Sun - Car Keys Forever Honey - Singing To Let England Shake Richie Quake - Joyride Max Leonard ft.
