IRS Agent Lauren WInebrenner was our guest on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Friday. Lauren is our new IRS representative taking over for our longtime guest, Michael Devine who retired from the IRS last month. Lauren joined us to talk about Filing season and the IRS Filing deadline which is next Tuesday, April 18th. The filing deadline is delayed this year as April 15th falls on a Saturday and there is a holiday being observed in Washington D.C on Monday, the 17th of April. If you have not filed your taxes yet, Lauren has several pieces of advice for you regarding last minute filing. Lauren also talked about the infamous IRS Dirty Dozen Tax Season Scams. Remember, the IRS will not call, text or email you to initiate contact with you.

Michael Devine joins us to talk worship space, hymns, and poetry of both…
IRS Agent Michael Devine joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Monday morning to talk taxes. Those who filed a 6 month extension back in April are reminded that there is no need to wait until the last minute to get filed. If you've gathered your tax information and are ready to file you don't have to wait until the second deadline arrives in October. Get your taxes filed immediately to avoid any possibility of missing that second deadline and incurring any fees. Meanwhile, if you are someone who filed on time and has even received a refund or a tax bill, now is a good time to start thinking of next years. Visit IRS.gov and check out the withholding calculator. It's the best way to determine if you are having enough withheld from your paycheck to get a refund next year. Michael Devine from the IRS joins WKEI each month with Tax advice and information.

The Tax deadline in 2022 is three days later in 2022 due to a holiday only celebrated in Washington D.C. Michael Devine from the IRS tells WKEI that while April 15th is traditionally the tax filing deadline, it will be April 18th in 2022. This is because April 15th, 2022 falls on a day that Washington D.C, the District of Columbia, celebrates Emancipation Day. This means government offices will be closed on the 15th to honor the holiday and that includes the office of the Internal Revenue Service. That was one of several tax topics we covered with our friend Michael Devine from the Internal Revenue Service on Friday's Wake Up Tri-Counties on WKEI.
In 2010 Michael had a stroke secondary to an overdose. During his experience he experienced a Devine masculine energy in relation to a Devine feminine energy. Chas reads from the NDERF website. Read Michael's complete NDE account on the NDERF website.
The 2021 Tax filing year is over. Those who received an extension from the usual yearly deadline, have now had that time to file run out. Now, it's time to start thinking about the end of the year and planning for the next tax filing season. Making sure to check on changes to tax law in the last year that might effect you. Be sure to check in with the IRS if you've moved, gotten married, had kids or even lost a family member. Life changes can affect your tax filing status and the amount of money you receive in a tax return or pay out in taxes owed.

Kildare, and launched a huge murder investigation. It looked like the case might go cold after a year went by with no breaks in the case. But some loose threads lead investigators to a new suspect. ********* With thanks to our sponsors for this episode: Try the casual mobile puzzle game Best Fiends today! Michael Devine from the IRS was our guest on WKEI with a reminder that July 15th is the deadline to file your taxes. The deadline was moved back two months from the usual April 15th to accommodate those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Taxes need to be filed by July 15th or those who still need more time can apply for a further extension. Either way, it must be filed by Wednesday. That deadline is also in place for anyone who may have forgotten to file taxes for 2016. You have until Wednesday to file and still receive a refund if one was due to you.
Michael Devine from the IRS was our guest on People to People on Thursday. Michael joined WKEI to talk about being one month away from this year's extended tax deadline. By July 15th you will need to have filed your taxes or face potential late filing penalties. Michael also talked to WKEI to encourage those who've perhaps simply not filed taxes in several years. The deadline to make sure you file your 2016 income taxes and to still receive a refund if one is owed to you, is also July 15th of 2020. Michael estimates that Illinois residents failed to collect nearly $54 million dollars in tax refunds in 2016.
Michael Devine with the I.R.S was our guest on WKEI on Thursday. Michael joined People to People to talk about the extended filing season, the challenges faced by the I.R.S with many not being able to work and thus process many tax returns, especially those in the mail. We also talked about the Economic Impact Payments and addressed many of the issues people have had in making sure they receive their payment. And, we talked about scams and how many criminals are trying to get between you and your Economic Impact Payment.

Let's be honest here, most of Corporate America really doesn't care about consumers or their workers more than they really have to. We wonder why customer service is so bad and why so many workers don't really seem to care about their jobs but all you have to look at is the leadership of that company. Mysteriously the companies in America that make great products, have great customer service, and the people actually like their jobs are companies that treat their people like they matter and understand they have to treat the customer with respect. Shocking concept I know but with the likes of companies like Boeing, Monsanto, and Ford being in the news for killing their customers you have to wonder if corporate america will ever change. They will never change....that is unless we make them change. The American worker and consumer has all the power in the world to make leadership change...we just have to actually do it. So for tonight's episode, join America's counselor and his co-host the Armchair QB Bill Reed discuss the basic steps every American can take to make their employers and major companies start to care. Silverthorne has been great to us but at some point we have to go home and this episode is our farewell. We start off by welcoming future Olympian Kaitlyn Adams into the Gray where she lays down the gauntlet by boldly declaring she will be in the 2022 Winter Olympics & her intention to destroy the label of "being good for a girl". Next up in our finale is our good friend Linzee Vito who talks about competitiveness being a necessity in every family. Last but not least, Mike and Dom invite Silverthorne Railjam organizers Kevin Sayler & Teddy Goggin back into The Gray to give their final thoughts about the event and to discuss what to expect for next year. Next up we have event organizer and USASA free style ski coach Teddy Goggin stop by to talk about year 2 of the event and the psychology behind coaching future olympic athletes. Then we have event coordinator for the city of Silverthorne Sydney Schwab stop by to discuss why the town has gotten behind the rail jam and how the importance of community guides many of the events for the town of Silverthorne. In case you have been living under a rock the past week, you may have heard something about the Mueller Report being delivered to the Attorney General & the findings did not implicate President Trump of any wrong doing. Even before the report was released people were salivating about what it would say but count me as one person who was thinking the report would not make a difference at all. Why do you ask? Simple, regardless of what that report said each side was going to reject the data and evidence and continue to believe the same thing.Since it came out that Trump did not do anything wrong, I knew that Democrats were going to say the report was fixed or still somehow believe that he was guilty. If the opposite happened, then Republicans would have rejected the evidence and said that it was a fake witch hunt & failed attempt to impeach the president. That is the world that we live in...a post facts world where people deny evidence that contradicts what they want to believe. We literally live in a world where liberals and conservatives live in an alternate reality with its own data, evidence and rules. And we wonder why we are gridlocked as a country! How do we get everyone to come together when the media and political campaigns are basically trying to divide us and reject the reality that doesn't support what they want you to believe? As a fellow researcher & professional, we have failed in using science and research to talk to people and explain the world around then. In fact we have flat out failed in talking to people in a way that actually makes them want to talk with us.So what do we do? According to our guest Dan Evans of the non-profit organization People of Reason & Progress, maybe we should do less talking and more listening. Instead of trying to change people's opinions maybe we shoudl start asking what they believe and why they believe that...and leave it at there. If we are going to change the polarization and divide in this country, we are going to need different ways of talking to each other and these suggestions are the best place to start.Dan Evans is the chairmen of PORP, a nonprofit organization committed to supplanting unreasonable political action with ethical, evidence-based discourse that benefits the public interest. We fight for science, data, and facts through education, collaboration, and coordination. We are thrilled to have Dan on the show to help guide us on how to change the dialogue in this country. As always I am joined by the Armchair QB himself Bill Reed to help keep me in-check and firmly in The Gray. Anybody that knows me well enough understands that skiing is one of my passions in life. It isn't just because I am an adrenaline junkie (which I am) but more because it is the only sport that gives me the ability to push myself beyond my comfort zone and whether I succeed or bite it hard, I grow exponentially as a person.Snow sports is a unique sport that you have to embrace failing as a necessary part of getting better. If you are afraid of failure, then you will never do anything to push yourself and will never learn what you need to learn to get better. It is something so pure and so simple but something any snowboarder or skier will tell you you must learn how to be okay with. This dynamic is very personal to me because I hear in my office every day a generation of children who are so scared of failing that they will avoid doing anything that might give them a chance of failure.I don't know about you, but in the world that I live in it is impossible to grow as a human being and get ahead in life if you avoid doing anything that might give you a chance at failure. This is why skiing plays such an important role in my life and why I tend to gravitate to people who understand what this sport can do for the soul. Its not by chance that I started out the blog for this week's podcast with these points because I think we have a serious problem in America that unless addressed, will be a problem that prevents this country from being what it should. If we truly want to Make America Great Again, we have to address the huge problem of people being petrified of failure. Not only that, but we have a huge problem with people being pulled apart and polarized in every facet of life. We are so divided as a country that I think it is more difficult to find any area of life right now that brings people together. That is where snow sports again is the model to the rest of the country. Just go to any local ski & snowboard slope and you will see parents and children happily shredding together. Even teenagers and their parents...shocking I know! You will see groups of kids pumping each other up, encouraging each other, pushing each other, and being outside with each other. Not only that, a group of teenagers shredding on the mountain after school & on the weekend is too busy to get themselves into trouble with drugs & other stupid things. That is why we have brought in this weeks special guests Kevin Sayler & Teddy Goggin who are putting on The Silverthorne April First Friday Rail Jam presented by Arapahoe Basin. These are two guys who completely understand the role that skiing and snow-boarding can play in a persons life and decided to bring together the community of Silverthorne, Colorado to celebrate the hard work of the snow sports community. Join us as we talk about how snow sports can be a valuable tool that teaches confidence, helps overcome adversity, brings parents and children together, and creates a community that brings people together instead of pulling them apart. If that wasn't amazing enough, it also gets people outside exercising and interacting with nature which research has shown time and time again is the easiest things people can do to overcome depression and anxiety. All the necessary ingredients to make a country great again. Funny how the secret to bringing the country back together was found by a bunch of skiers and snowboarders in Colorado...who would have though it?As always I am joined by the Armchair QB himself Bill Reed to help keep me in-check and firmly in The Gray. If there were a conventional treatment for a disease in a traditional medical practice that worked only 10% of the time or less - would anyone feel comfortable claiming it was a fantastic cure? I suspect not, yet those abysmal successful treatment numbers are present in some areas of the mental health arena when it comes to addiction treatment. However, you almost never hear about the failure of the 12 step programs or outpatient treatment plans and their high failure rate. Why is that? To get to the bottom of this question I invited Mr. Michael DeVine, a licensed counselor in private practice in Ohio who was willing to discuss the successes and frequent failures within the mental health sphere. His podcast, the Gray Matters Radio Podcast, is his vehicle for discussing all manner of issues facing America with a focus on being nonpartisan and having honest conversations. Today's discussion is honest as we try to explore the problems patients and practitioners face in mental health. As usual, when broaching any topic this large, we are only able to scratch the surface on the systemic problems in solving America's mental health crisis. In this episode we discuss the failure of conventional and unconventional treatment modalities for addiction health, the shortages of options for most mental health disorders, and the trouble with access to the treatments that people need. Finally, Michael considers the changing nature of adolescent and college age adult problems that he sees including a loss of men having adequate coping skills because of the social stigma of 'toxic masculinity'. He states that the empowerment of women is a great thing but worries if it has come at the expense of preventing men an effective way to move throughout the world and just be men. Michae l DeVine is a licensed counselor in private practice and the host of the Gray Matters Radio Podcast. He describes himself as part of the radical center and seeks to spark conversations with people of all sorts of different viewpoints to reach real solutions. show notes Michael DeVine Counseling: Michael's personal private practice @graymattersrdio: Twittering for Michael DeVine Gray Matters Radio Podcast: The home page for Michael DeVine and his Gray Matters Podcast. Want to know the best thing about being a counselor? I can read people’s minds! I knew you were dying for The Gray’s take on the mid-term elections…well you got it. The media and the politicians have had their chance to interpret the 2018 election, now it’s The Gray’s turn. This was a very important election that will set the tone not only for the 2020 presidential election, but for the future of the country. Based on how each side interprets why democrats won the house and why the republicans won the senate will set the stage for what they think the people want and how they will govern. Will Nancy Pelosi survive as the house speaker? Was this a referendum on Donald Trump? Was it more about people voting out incumbents? All of this is discussed and more.Joining Michael in the studio to dissect the election is “The Everyman” Domenic Buccilla and “The Professor” Richard DeVine for this very special episode of Gray Matters with Michael DeVine.Gray Matters Radio is a proud member of The Reporters Network family of podcasts & TheReporters.com

This weeks episode will focus on the explosion of racist incidents being uploaded to social media across the country where we attempt to understand the dynamics behind these incidents and how it is affecting our ability as a country to solve major problems such as crime, poverty, and addiction.Gray Matters Radio is a proud member of The Reporters Network family of podcasts & TheReporters.com
In this episode of the Dudes n Beer podcast host Christopher Jordan is joined via Skype by therapist, author and host of the Gray Matters Radio Podcast,, Michael Devine to discuss the Kavanaugh election fallout and how to begin healing America. With the recent election of our most contested Supreme Court Justice to date, what is to be made of the obvious divide in America? What is causing the extreme rift between not only the public at large but our elected officials as well? How can we begin the process of healing America? What steps can we take to go beyond “reaching across the aisle” to bring actual understanding? These questions and more in this episode of the Dudes n Beer Podcast with by therapist, author and host of the Gray Matters Radio Podcast, Michael Devine. In this episode of the Dudes n Beer podcast host Christopher Jordan is joined via Skype by therapist, author and host of the Gray Matters Radio Podcast, Michael Devine, to discuss the root issues behind the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings currently underway and the ensuing public reactions. What does the vitriol being swung about by both sides mean politically for our country? Considering that we are dealing with victims, what does it mean to use them as political puppets? How do we as a society process information we are given and how do we filter that information through our own lens of experience? Is it possible to look at cases like this from purely logical standpoints without processing the facts presented through emotion? What can we do to begin to open our eyes to the world around us and start looking at people empathetically instead of in an adversarial way? These questions and more discussed in this week's bombshell episode of the Dudes n Beer podcast with therapist, author and host of the Gray Matters Radio Podcast, Michael Devine. In this episode of the Dudes n Beer podcast host Christopher Jordan is joined by Steven Bishop as we welcome Digital Media Specialist and owner of Breach.tv, Richard Adams as well as Therapist and Author, Michael Devine, MS, LPC-S, LICDC and special first time guest, host of “Max Miller: Voice of the Radical Center”, Max Miller from Austin's Talk Radio 1370 to discuss the latest full on ban of Alex Jones from the social media platforms of Facebook, Youtube, iTunes, Spotify and possibly more coming. What does this mean, if anything, for the future of independent media? What were the community guidelines that were betrayed by Jones and his Infowars media outlet that got them banned? Is this ban a simple cleansing of the American media palate or is it a sign of something much greater and more sinister lurking on the horizon? We also discuss the divide among us as people in modern American society and abroad. How can we begin to reach across the Isle and find a common ground before we burn our country to the ground? Michael, a Therapist by trade, recently had a chance to go to a local Trump event and get audio interviews with people from both sides of the political spectrum. What did Michael, as a therapist find was the common denominator? Does he think that we can find a way to mitigate these issues and begin to work together, and if so what are our first steps? These questions and more answered in this riveting and insightful 175th episode of the Dudes n Beer podcast. In this episode of the Dudes n Beer podcast host Christopher Jordan is joined by Steven Bishop as well as special guest and Therapist Michael Devine, MS, LPC-S, LICDC to discuss the psychological concept of Cognitive Dissonance and the possible root of some of the societal issue we are currently facing in our country with regards to the new phenomena of “Doxing”. Why is it that our American society as a whole has begun to devolve into a defunct version of once was? Why, despite the fact of being more connected than ever in our digital world, are we more divided than ever culturally, racially, ethically and politically, what is it that is causing this rift? Why are people so resistant to change despite their knowledge of facts? Where did the current online trend of “Doxing” get its origins? What are the benefits and the pitfalls for a society that uses such a means for exposing people and their actions? Is this practice a healthy course for us as a human society to follow as a human society or are we setting ourselves up for failure? These questions and more Tuesday night July 23rd at 8pm CST on the Dudes n Beer podcast with our special guest Therapist Michael Devine, MS, LPC-S, LICDC.
