As podcasting continues to see a mix of large investments and ad spend, it also continues to see layoffs across the industry. Many point to some of these large investments as being a cause, with money being spent on large networks and celebrity podcasts. Is this a sign that the industry needs to take a different approach, with perhaps more indie creator-led networks, or is it an unfortunate realism of an industry growing beyond its small beginnings?Join regular co-host Danny Brown and guest co-host Frank Racioppi as they discuss this interesting topic.Guest co-host this episode: Frank Racioppi After 38 years as a speechwriter and editor for a Fortune 50 company, Frank retired and indulged his love of podcasting, starting and managing a successful podcast review online publication -- Ear Worthy. He started it in 2017 and has enjoyed connecting with indie podcasters and anyone who supports podcasting. Frank and his brother Paul had a podcast four years ago called False Facts, but it was difficult to keep a regular recording schedule. He's loved writing his entire life and wrote for print magazines in the 80s from New Jersey Monthly, The Pet Dealer, American Health, The Sewing Circle, etc. He's also published five novels and four non-fiction books in the last four years. The novels range from a romance about two people bonding over the love of reading called For The Love Of Books to Least Best Employee, a novel about surviving as middle management in Corporate America. His most popular nonfiction book was called The COVID Hotel. Today on Beyond the Basics Health Academy, Dr. Meaghan sits down with Michael Rubino to talk about mold, mold toxicity, and home remediation. Michael Rubino has become an expert on mold and home remediation. From his work, he has found that many times builders and contractors don't know how to tackle mold correctly. To educate those who are suffering, Rubino wrote the book Mold Medic. In detail, Rubino advises readers on how to choose a mold remediation company and the exact processes that companies should be using. He also explains how to recover from mold-related illnesses. His message is perfect for those interested in achieving and maintaining robust health. Rubino’s focus is not just on removing cosmetic damage resulting from mold. It’s on removing all traces of mold, the spores they leave behind and the toxins produced by the mold. He’s discovered that a person suffering from hypersensitivity to mold needs all three types of decontamination to regain their health. In one home or business after another where mold was supposedly eliminated, Rubino found the cause of continuing mold-related illness: conventional mold remediators are only doing part of the job. He intends to correct this situation. Rubino and his company - All American Restoration - have been featured in USA Today, NJBiz, Reader’s Digest, New Jersey Monthly, and Digital Trends. He was also selected as a speaker for the Spring 2020 Indoor Air Quality Association Meeting and Expo. Rubino received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2008 and is a council-certified microbial remediator from the American Council for Accredited Certification and a New York State Department of Labor Remediation Contractor. Each episode is also a glimpse into the trends and patterns of human behavior and the underlying influences that navigate us into different directions. Whether we primarily focus on nutrition or the unconscious, guests share insights, thought-provoking lessons, the nuances of creativity, and the elements of being….us.In today's episode, I dive into the world of regenerative organic farming with Dr. Ron Weiss. He is dual board-certified in internal medicine and lifestyle medicine. As a primary care physician in New Jersey, Dr. Weiss serves as the executive director of Ethos Primary Care and as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He is not only a physician but also a botanist and farmer, and he offers an evidence-based, food-as-medicine approach to healing chronic illness and optimizing wellness. Dr. Weiss has been featured in top media, including The New York Times, The New York Post, The Today Show, New Jersey Monthly, and the feature-length documentary, "Eating You Alive."A vegan-friendly plant-based doctor in New Jersey, Dr. Weiss prescribes the Ethos Diet – an all-organic, ecologically-sustainable, and Whole Food Plant-Based (WFPB) diet – as the cornerstone of his work with patients. He is not your typical doctor. His primary care practice resides on 342 acres of farm in Long Valley, New Jersey, where he grows "beyond organic" produce for his patients. Otherwise known as the farm doctor, Dr. Weiss believes that food-is-medicine and in a Farm-Based Health Care System. Jeffrey Marshall has spent many years reporting on facts and truth for various newspapers and publications, including The New York Times and the Associated Press. Once part of a team nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for reporting, he now has turned his attention to fiction and has just released a psychological thriller that involves a narcissist and sociopath and revolves around a family in an affluent community where things are not what they seem. This riveting thriller takes us into the lives of the 1% -- and why their relationships and problems really mirror the 99%. Jeffrey is a retired journalist and the author of three books, including Little Miss Sure Shot - a historical novel about Annie Oakley. He has been published widely in newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times and New Jersey Monthly, and was at various times a reporter, editor, feature writer, columnist, and book reviewer. A little about Undetected Suzy Perry, a lovely, accomplished older woman, has married into a new family in Westchester County, N.Y after being widowed not long before in Atlanta. Her new husband, Dean Perry, is besotted with her, but his son Alex and daughter-in-law Lisa are troubled by how little they know about her. Who is she? Little by little, clues and tidbits of information persuade Alex that he needs to know more. As the questions pile up, Alex, a journalist, elects to hire a private detective to probe Suzy’s past, without informing his father. Over time, it becomes clear that Suzy changed her name when she moved to Atlanta -- and that she had been married for many years to a car dealer in Missouri who died suddenly shortly before she left. Is all this innocent, or something more sinister? Once circumstantial, the evidence becomes more concrete -- and then Suzy is on the run. Jeff has a bachelor's degree from Princeton and a master's in journalism from Northwestern. His interests include tennis, golf, fly-fishing, travel, hiking and movies. Franchise Interviews meets with the K-9 Resorts Daycare & Luxury Hotel franchise.   Jason and Steven Parker, co-founders of Fanwood-based K-9 Resorts Daycare & Luxury Hotel, first got in the dog business when as boys they wanted a dog, but their parents said they weren't responsible enough. Fueled by that, they began walking neighbors' dogs for money and it grew and grew until they were making some pretty impressive money. They decided to take this love of dogs and their honed business sense to open up K-9 Resorts and entered the franchising game as the youngest franchisors in the entire franchise industry. They're entering a big 2014, riding the wave of success and buzz from last year, and will be opening up 5 new locations. 9 is the magic number for K-9 this year as they enter their 9th year in business with a goal of ending the year with 9 locations.  ABOUT K9 RESORTS DAYCARE & LUXURY HOTEL K-9 RESORTS DAYCARE & LUXURY HOTEL was founded in 2005 by brothers Steven and Jason Parker in Fanwood, N.J. When in their early teens, their parents denied them a dog of their own, so the entrepreneurial pair opened a professional pet-sitting business to prove they were not only willing, but ready to care for a dog. That business not only became a highly profitable enterprise that they sold for a six-figure sum in 2006, that revenue became the expansion fuel for their burgeoning K-9 Resorts business. The business, which is the only facility in New Jersey to have been rated Number 1 by multiple major publications, is now positioned for franchise growth throughout the Northeast U.S. K-9 Resorts was ranked Number 1 in its category by the Courier Times and by New Jersey Monthly. In part 2, we hear advice from franchisees on why they purchased a franchise.
